To those who don’t see the image:
Just go to press.ncsoft.com, then go to Heart of Thorns, then Screenshots, then you’ll find the image.
It seems they don’t want to hide it, so it’s probably a teaser of a Legend that’s not finished yet, but it’s 99.9% sure we’ll have it.
Of course Kiel was a bad choice, she didn’t do anything and isn’t doing anything. I ASK FOR A RECOUNT OF THE VOTES!
Btw, shouldn’t we tell Kiel that her workers needs tools to work? I’ve seen people hammering with their bare hands. It’s outrageous, this is slavery!
Seriously, Kiel needs to attend to this, it’s outrageous! More and better tools for all! You have to wonder in what third-rate tool shop in what remote location did a purchasing agent get the bright idea to pick up picks that swing vertically and strike on the side.
We citizens of LA are all for fiscal responsibility, but that’s just a silly bit of costs savings.
Of course Kiel was a bad choice, she didn’t do anything and isn’t doing anything. I ASK FOR A RECOUNT OF THE VOTES!
Oh please, we all know that’s impossible because of all the ballot boxes that were lost in that tragic accident in Mount Maelstrom. At least now we know that fire elementals don’t make good ballot counters. I’m sure those boxes contained a statistically correct number of votes for Kiel and Gnashblade.
The rumours that they contained only Gnashblade votes are completely unsubstantiated. As are the rumours that they were empty, I personally made sure they weren’t empt… I mean. Erm. Nothing.
This interview is over!
I will be standing in the forthcoming elections! Transparency and efficiency!

Hi folks!
We have been speculating about an image showing Rytlock invoking a dragon. Many of us have speculated about the dragon’s identity, being most likely Glint.
Lately, it has been found on NCSoft website that the picture of Rytlock invoking the dragon is called “Glint Elite (Teaser)”.
Edit: http://press.ncsoft.com/product.asp?s=61 (go to Screenschots then Screenshots for Revenant Profession Reveal 20/2/2015)
Now that we have three legends, one from Nightfall, one from EotN, one from Prophecies, we can keep on speculating that Shiro will be the Factions legend.
What do you think would be the role of Glint as a legend?
(edited by VergilDeZaniah.3295)
It’s really amazing how some people are.
It’s not an expansion if it does not have ALL of these:
- new races
- new dungeons
- new skills
- new classes
- new armors
- new weapons
- new game modes
It does not matter if it has some or most things on the list, as long as it does not have every last item, it’s not an expansion and we have to come up with conspiracy theories.
PS: It’s not an expansion if it doesn’t have CANTHA! omgwtfbbq
So far, only races (and Cantha) are not part of it :-D
(This is a general statement, not aimed at anybody in particular)
Joking aside, it’s amazing how people already have access to the whole HoT content while I’m stuck in the same old game.
We have been shown the brand new features/content, not all features/content. They’re not gonna spend a week just to tell us “You’re gonna get new armor/weapons skins.”
You don’t know what will be in the expansion, nobody does. So let’s stop speculating over things we barely know about, at that rate should we start threads asking questions about the (supposedly) second expansion?
Plus, for those who complain about the price of the said expansion: I have paid 55€ for the game, spent only 30€ in 3 years, and I’ve played 1900h, that means I played for 0,04€/hour. Do you think ANet exaggerate the fact we have to pay for their work? Just because you bought a house doesn’t mean you won’t have to pay the bills.
Even if HoT is 55€ too, I’m sure I will play at least another 1000h (story + potential LS), so let’s stop that stupid argument of “it should be more than 30 bucks because it hasn’t much content”, because 1. you don’t know how big it is and 2. the price is worth the work they put in it.
If you are too cheap to buy the expansion (because the release won’t be tomorrow so you have time to save for it), just don’t buy it, you’ll still have some features for free, but don’t complain since it will be your choice.
It’s outrageous, this is slavery!
all aboard the hype train CHOO CHOO
Dude, that video is 2 year-old…
I’m still not getting any newsletter email confirmation after applying 4-5 times and after adding all their email addresses to my contacts. Checked all my inboxes and spam, nothing there. But I received some e-mail from them in the last few days so I’m confused :\
Did you get a newsletter lately? Because I never received any confirmation with my game address yet I received the newsletter, so I assume I’m registered.
We estimate two to five weeks.
That would be the best time frame (though 2 is a bit fast). However, rumor has it (and by rumor I mean someones that might have had contacts with the devs during Pax East) that one week per specialisation would be required. That’s nine weeks juste for the specs, which means at least 3 more for other aspects (guild halls, new borderland, story?), and that’s, imho, far too much, since there are many game features that don’t need to be built (endurance, invisible walls, animations, etc.).
In the end, we’re just left with hope we won’t have to wait another 5 months to finish the Living Story that began 9 months ago (that’s less than an episode per month).
I hope it won’t be that late, it would be a hard blow… Just imagine: they said there won’t be any substantial update (aka nothing except recycled events and cash shop items), we’re already 2 months after the last step of our story, and HoT will happen minutes after… “Minutes”.
I don’t mind having like 4 months of nothing, but now they are planning around 8 months of nothing (since Ep.8)… They sure don’t have to rush their content but even if they release the game in one year there will be bugs all around (and that’s normal).
If it’s true they will take one week per specialisation… That’s 9 weeks, plus many weeks for each feature… That’s bad de the game and the players…
I don’t mind having guards/mercenaries/sentries in WvW. But the new map seems to add a bit too much PvE content in the new Borderland. I hope I am wrong, but that would totally void the purpose of WvW, as it will simply turn it into a new karma-train prone map…
I really don’t mind the map having some EotM features (height, distances, different “atmospheres”) but I really heartilly hate the idea of forcing PvE into WvW.
This “let’s zerg a champ” mechanic in EotM is one (if not the) reason it’s just meaningless captures. WvW is interesting because it isn’t PvE or PvP. There are mercenaries NPCs, there are some (but really few) PvE events on the map, but that’s all. The main idea is to keep keeps (lulz) and destroy the enemy team.
The new map seems so “kill these beasts to get that”. Of course, I haven’t seen the complete mechanics of the map and I’m just assuming things. But if the new Borderland is more EotM that current Borderlands… I’ll be disgusted and disheartened by WvW.
A mini Anise, changing her appearance every 3 minutes or so. Too bad I don’t use minis ’cause it sucks for stealth in WvW…
I don’t mind having “only” a few zones to explore, as long as it’s not “it” for the 3 years to come.
There’s a huge potential to fill holes and create new story path: if the xpac is actually the new playstyle, I assume further additions will require less work (I mean: not creating new system but rather adding things to them) and thus more time and resources will be spent on maps. I suppose the pace of these 3 years is nothing compared to what’s coming now. Of course, I might be wrong, but I try to see the glass half full.
C’mon ANet, bring on HoT!

Thanks for the intervew. However, most points are evaded… Too bad >_< The only thing I find really interesting is about new types of weapons, when Joa talked about a pike, Coline said “not yet”. I assume we will someday see new types of weapons.
Now let’s wait for the release…
- My favourite colour is purple, because purple is glorious. GLORIOUS.
All hail glorious purple!
(It’s basically the only color I wear, mixing it with black and white)
What about putting Trahearne, Jennah, and Logan in wheelbarrow, rolling them to Maguuma and feeding them to Mordremoth?
Oh and Kiel too. I’m willing to pay for that, I can offer the wheelbarrow.
… Pwease ANet?

A mission like in GW1 that allowed you to unlock further secondary professions.
It seems so! I’m looking forward to seeing what’s coming next!
Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE with a sequel to GUILD wars.
Sadly the name GUILD WARS is given by the GUILD WARS between the major guilds of Ascalon Kryta and Orr and has nothing to do with player-guild-based PvP
learn the Lore :p
I feel like these people could also complain about Star Wars not having stars fighting each other.
Dunno what you’re talking about. It had Sir Alec Guiness fighting James Earl Jones.
Haha yeah, “this” kind of stars
I meant the other one
It does have the “Death Star” . . . and there’s a war involving it . . .
But it’s not the definition of a… A… OH WELL YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT AND I’M RIGHT!

Whatever the number of skills per type, you are both right: we will have more than 3 fixed utilities per Legend! ^^
- I also draw a lot. Right now I’m somehow working on my GW2 characters. I hope I’ll finish it (because sometimes I simply give up).
- I’m colorblind, that’s why I barely ever color my drawings.
Mate, I reckon you should colour your stuff. As a non-colourblind art lover I’d be interested to see what you see.
Well, if I manage to finish my current drawing, I’ll color it then
There will be more than 3 utilities per legend: I don’t think Jalis’ road and Mallyx’s jump would work underwater. There must be something different.
Also they somehow sold the “one legend per traitline, and one traitline is for the profession”, there will probably be 4 legends. Since most professions have around 20 utilities, it’s quite simple to assume that each legend will provide a pool of 5 skills to choose from.
That does, however, confirm the Legend has 4 elites (I’m not talking about the spec). This might mean other professions might have a 4th elite outside spec, but nothing is sure.
My turn now ^^
I guess these are the most important (and random) things about me…
Legendary Dolyak Stance, Prof. Yakkington confirmed!

What kills the hype, imho, is that we know we won’t get anything substantial before the release. So expecting a playerbase, that has been wishing for new content over the past months, to hang on things that have probably already been done for the next 2 to 10 months (I use a very broad range) is a bit of an interest killer.
Of course if HoT is released in April, it will have bugs. But if it’s released in December, it’ll also have bugs. I doubt this will be the main argument against “early” release (and they probably have far less to test since they have pretty much everything in the base game).
I don’t ask for a release date before Rezzed and maybe the 1st beta. Until then, my interest for the game is summarized to my interest for the blog posts we have regarding HoT. Else, I’m just fighting against the same servers in WvW (I sooo miss the mixed matchups we had like a year ago) and it’s getting boring.
And if the game stays in the same state for another 4 months, I’ll find something else to do than spending time and money on the game… It does kill the interest for the story, because “10 minutes after the end of LS2” is ridiculously long (even LS2E8 was too far aay from E7 and I barely remembered the important parts) and we will certainly forget most details…
So revealing the release date probably will kill the hype if it’s too far from now, but not because it is far, but because we won’t have much to do while waiting for it (except throw our money in the cash shop).
To me it’s easy: my Revenant will be my GW1 main character.
After defeating Reiko Murakami, my character travelled to Elona but a strange portal opened and he was sucked into it. After spending months in the Mists, reliving the same events again and again (his first meeting with Jalis, his Ascension, Mallyx’s battle…) another portal opened. He jumped in it, believing he’d arrive in the Tyrian he left, but actually landed 250 years later. Upon arrival, he sees burning houses and centaurs attacking villagers: with the powers he harnessed in in the Mists, he will help these poor people.
The Revenant will be released with Heart of Thorns only to those buying it. So if you want to play as a Revenant, you’ll have to get the expansion
They don’t add cool animations and effects…
FWIW, and I’d have to watch the whole video again to find it, but I could swear the devs in the poi video said that they WOULD be adding those cool animations [to the UI at least, if that’s what you’re referring to by animations]
Seconded, I remember the devs saying so.

As I said in the other topic, there will certainly be a pool of 4 or 5 utilities to choose from, since some of the skills we already saw won’t work underwater.

I see no problem with this as it’s probably Anets goal to add all weapons to all professions over time. Sooner or later this will happen anyway. I’ll get excited when one profession has all weapons as this might mean that the next specialisation will use entirely new weapons.
I agree. I don’t understand people that say too many professions have similar weapons, so don’t put it on this one too. The argument seems so weak. Greatsword on a heavy armored profession makes sense, anyway. Just like currently how every spellcasting class has access to the Staff.
Far from me the idea to complain about it, to the contrary, I’d love to see build diversity revolving around weapons, so everyone can be on the same level, range-wise.
I was just pointing out that the “oh no, X out of 9 already have the weapon” is a really bad argument against GS Revenant.
However, I have to agree that GS is ANet’s favourite weapon. As sorudo said, it’s not a matter of preference but of effectiveness. I like the look of Guardian Sword/Shield, yet in WvW it’s less efficient (not to say pretty useless).
In the end, each profession will end up with an access to every weapon (I assume), the only thing I wish for is selectable weapon skills. I do hope that a MH Sword “Chronomancer” won’t have the same skills as a MH Mesmer. Because there are many skills I would gladly get rid of on many weapons…
Edit: BIG EPIPHANY There will be more than 3 utility skills for sure! How do I know that? It’s really simple…
You don’t get it?
Underwater combat! Of course! Mallyx’s Unyielding Anguish won’t work underwater! And Jalis’s Inspiring Reinforcement probably won’t either! Therefore, it’s safe to assume we will at least have a 4th skill that would work underwater (it’s highly unlikely they will get rid of any underwater combat)! How awesome is that?
Edit²: I have to confess… Bigtony and I are the ones behind the Revenant’s concept.

Give Revenant access to Greatsword. That’s all I wanted to say! Anet, you have to!
I hope they won’t. Now that the Necromancer will get greatsword too, 5 out of 8 professions are going to be able to equip it. It’s very overused at this point.
Well if the Ele does specialize with a sword, that will mean 7 out of 9 will use a sword…
Given there’s at least finishing up the revenant, beta testing of the whole xpac, game balancing and some seeerious debugging, I’m no longer so optymistic about release date. So just gonna sit down, chill out and focus on here and today.
The first time we had a playable demo of GW2 in a convention was in Gamescom, in 2010.
The game was released on 2012.
It’s pretty much a joke to say that the expansion will be released very soon because it will be playable on PAX.
The beta test, though, is more likely a sign that the expansion will be released in less time.
The community has always been bad at predicting when GW2 releases will happen (you should have seen the polls trying, and failling miserably, at predicting when the main game would be released). But honestly, I think ArenaNet is desperate to make money, and so they will release the expansion sooner rather than later.
Remember GW2 in 2010 was just a scrap of what we have now, they have far less points to test. That’s the big difference between GW2 demo and HoT demo.
I try to be a bit logical:
If the expansion is released in August
If the expansion is released in April
Not only for us, but also for ANet: the sooner the better. No matter when the expansion is released, they’ll have to come up with fixes. I assume that the release date won’t change anything to the gameplay or the quality of the expansion, but it will change everything for the community.

If you watch the POI, while out of combat the arrows still appear above the heal, utility and elite skills. So even if it’s not set in stone it does seem like you have some choice at the minute.
Maybe it’s for racial skills?
Ah well, I figure Logan takes more after Keiran Thakery than Gwen. A guy so lazy he sends out any random adventerer he meets to do all the work of setting up his date with Gwen. Then takes all the credit himself!
;)Any chance hes related to Kormir?
Trahearne is their kid then!
They also said that “[their] closed beta is coming super super fast” (51:50 in the vid). I’m sure the expansion is just some tweaks away from release, and the beta will begin soon after EGX Rezzed.

I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the traitlines will include multiple legends. Right now theres only half the selection of major traits in each line, compared to other classes. So most likely, they will add 3 more major traits to the adept and master tiers, and with these, incorporate one additonal Legend to each traitline.
That makes eight legends if the last two traitlines are similar.
Isn’t 8 a bit too optimistic? Not that I don’t want 8 Legends (I certainly do) but I prefer to keep the idea of 4 Legends and maybe be surprised afterwards.
Indeed your assumption that a traitline can contain multiple Legends is really interesting: we could get Mallyx and, let’s say, Varesh as condition Legends, another Tank along Jalis, two DPS-oriented Legends… The possibilities are endless. However I doubt we will get that many Legends all at once: they said “take a look at the number of skills we already have”… Indeed, we got 3 elites per profession, 4 heals per profession, and 20 utilities. The idea 4 Legends makes sense: 1 heal per Legend, 5 utilities per Legend, and 1 elite per Legend (would that mean that each profession will get a new elite? It’s really possible).
I’d say it’s a safe call to state: we will have 4 Legends with 1 heal, 5 utilities, and 1 elite each.
However, nothing prevents the devs from adding new Legends as specializations as time goes by.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I don’t mind having 4 Legends… As long as the future brings us more! (Greedy much?)
After all, most professions barely have more than two or three gameplays, so 4 gameplays would be good.
The only thing that bothers me atm is the number of utility skills available per legend. 3 would obviously transform the amazing Revenant into a “I know what you’ll do” class. That would be the only bad point I see so far.
However, seeing the good job they’re doing and the promise of more specializations, I’m certain we will have more Legends as time goes by. Maybe sooner than we think?
I’m really eager to see more and play the Revenant, so far I’m won over.
Edit: and to be honest, the only thing that thrilled me more than the whole PoI is… “Closed beta is coming really soon”, though soon™ doesn’t mean much in here!
Edit2: BTW, didn’t we already have another Legend seen on screen, Glint?

We kinda had the confirmation that we will have 4 legends: since 2 trait lines are each for Mallyx and Jalis, the 3rd one being for the profession, it is easy to assume that the next two trait lines will be used for 2 more legends.
We should get a new feature: Click-to-go! Just click anywhere on the map and you’ll be teleported! If wouldn’t cost anything and would allow us to go wherever we want: out of the map, enemy keeps and citadels, ranged to kill the PvP Lord… /sarcasm
Dude, seriously? What makes you think it’s a good idea? It’s far worse than asking for… * shivers * mounts…
Shiro for sure!
Maybe the Undead Leach, king of life stealing?
Kormir would be fun, her elite would be “Stolen Accomplishments: during 5 minutes, the xp and loot from every enemy killed by you or another player within 3000 range will be awarded to you” xD
(JK: I don’t want Kormir)
Besides Shiro, I’m not really wishing for a Legend more than another.

Intro Cinematic I am a Revenant. I was trapped in the Mysts for a very long time, until I met a Charr adventurer. Together, we learned how to harness the powers of the Mysts, until we found our way out. But we were thrust into different points in time, ‘cause Mysts. And now I’m somehow defending Shaemoor against an Earth Elemental.
Tadaaaaaaa. ~ Introducing the Deus ex Machina that is the Mysts’ concept (or lack thereof) of time.

Won’t work for the reasons in this topic, but also your argument is invalid: imagine a character is level 80 but has barely done anything with their personal story (I have lvl80 characters who are only at the beginning of chapter 2), they could easily become a Revenant and still go and kill Zhaitan.

I don’t think summarizing your argument to “I want some bonus but I don’t want to pay for it” is a straw man, you simply want your cake and eat it. That’s not how it works.
I do agree that this “end game” progression should have been introduced in the base game. However, due to X and Y constraints, they didn’t add it. They worked on a (supposedly) full fleshed expansion with brand new gameplays/activities/story steps/etc.
You’re basically asking to get for free what some people will pay for. After all, you want the masteries that can be used within the base game, so if I follow your logic (aka “I should get for free what touches the base game”), specializations should be free since you already have 8 classes.
Masteries are part of the new concept of GW2 that begins with HoT. After all, most (if not all) of us will end up buying the expansion.
So if your argument is “this end game-like content should have been released with the base game”, you are absolutely right. If it is “the addition of new features that will be used within the game that was released three years ago should be free for those who don’t want to buy HoT”, I can say you are far from being right.
