15 pages yet no Vayne, where is he ? i miss him, is he on a payed vacation ?

ontopic: just add a custom setting so that players can buy how many gems/gold/whatever they want.

I’m here. I’m perfectly fine with most of what’s been said here…and have nothing constructive to add.

See ANet? Even Vayne, who ALWAYS sees the bright side of updates, is disappointed. Even if the most optimistic of us all doesn’t like the change, it sure isn’t a good one!

You really don’t get me at all…or you simply ignore my negative posts.

Most of the time you are optimistic, and I must admit I barely see any negative posts from you. It was not a criticism towards you at all.

Next outfits at 700 ? copy paste !!!

Look : http://hpics.li/944c738 and next image !

That’s for the Chinese game: skulls are a bit of a touchy subject.

About the cost: you can buy 800+400 gems, you’ll get the outfit and a finisher! Or you can simply buy 800 gems and lose money in the process to revert your gems into gold, it’s more convenient and less confusing!

  • Does that mean you should suggest something? Yes, of course! Because they’re expecting player input.

Interestingly enough, many players’ suggestions fall into oblivion, even though most are really about game breaking (or at least experience hindering) issues.

So, let’s say, if I submitted a ticket because it was too confusing to have a legendary for me, would you remove legendaries for every other player? I think not, so why does the team do that with the rest of the game? Sincerely, it seems like all you care about is money and new players to buy a new game. Here’s a secret: if you made a high quality expansion (not 3 missions then 6 months before a broken update) instead of awful, useless, terrible, and buggy updates, new players and veterans would buy it. It’s hard to believe, is it not?

And if I’m being too rude, I’m sorry: I’m confused by good manners, so I removed them from my education.

People of this thread, do NOT worry

I’m really sure ANet is listening to our feedback and working on the fix to the problem *, just like trait system, hobosacks, lags, FPS issues, and many other game breaking bugs!

.* ANet to English translation: shoving the problem under a virtual carpet waiting for every one to accept their fate/forget about the mess.

Am I the only one to be curious about the metrics/statistics/analysis they summon everytime they make a (bad) change? Because most of the time it seems to have been tested but the question is: who are the poor lunatics that allow those outrageous changes?

I’ve never heard anyone being a beta tester of the features ANet claimed that were asked for. I guess these are just excuses made to sound professional and well-thought while they are just arbitrary changes made to get more money.

If they only focus on new players, why change the game? At this rate most if not all vets well quit, and new players will be drawn to the game, and they could experience LS1 and 2! Let’s put the game on repeat then…

Due to new players being confused by the game amount of free “content”, subscription fees of 800 gems will be required to keep on playing.

Gosh, did that really happened? I shouldn’t have slept!

There was a needed option to buy an exact amount of gems before, because guessing wasn’t very parc tical. But this, it’s pretty ridiculous! Who in Tyria required that?

It’s seems like for each step forward, ANet makes one or two steps backward. It’s sad to see time and resources wasted on such illogical and useless changes.

Simply because we have waypoints.

And also that many people hate the idea of mounts. Also, technically, the game would not be able to show so many mounts. And it has no real use, except for “aesthetic” purpose (but it would be quite a mess). And it’s GW2, not regular MMOs

I log in because I still find it fun. However, I used to find it fun to log in at other times, when my guild wasn’t around. There was stuff I had more fun doing solo. Those times I tend to log in less, because I’m not having as much fun. I log in when I am having fun. Not so sure why that’s hard to understand.

That’s the point of my whole rant actually. You might find less fun in the game and hope for a brighter future. If it doesn’t happen, you might find less and less fun in the game until you stop/have a break.

I’m there right now. I’m having fun but far less than before. If the next part of LS2 is not as rivetting and lore-based as it is advertised as, I daresay I’ll have a break from the game until they do indeed add enough content for me to play for more than one hour before doing the same things over and over again.

It’s not “play or don’t”, it’s rather “play when you want to and have a break before you hate it”.

See this is very convenient, but it’s not what you wrote. These are your words from the OP:

" Yay re-used holidays… I really do hope that these re-used events are some kind of a hint regarding how the team worked on bigger things. If not, well, time to move on."

The words “move on” to me, doesn’t mean cut down your hours of playing. Move on means to leave something behind and not come back to it. We all know what it means to move on in life. Move on in our job career.

Moving on has a certain implication. It’s definitely not what you’re saying here. If it’s what you meant, I’d edit your OP for clarity.

My bad then, it was more of the idea to move on from my usual hype to a more “carpe diem” idea. The French expression that is translated to move on could be understood as “I won’t be thrilled or excited by what is not released, I’ll keep on advancing no matter what, and won’t hesitate to come back to it”.

But when you’re saying time to move on, you’re actually saying something quite arbitrary. If it’s not here by X date, it’s time to move on. If it’s not here by Y date, it’s time to move on. If you’re not having fun, then it’s time to move on, and only then. Why set a date? Why make it sound like an ultimatum.

It puts everything else into question. Either the game is fun, and you play it, or it isn’t and you stop. I’m not going to draw an artibrary line in the sand after which it’s time to leave. That just makes no sense…whether I respect your opinion or I don’t (I do btw). I can respect an opinion and still point out that it makes no sense. It’s like starting a diet on Monday. That never made sense to me either. Either you need to start eating better, or you don’t.

I’m having fun with the game, especially thanks to WvW and friends, but since I am above all a PvE player, I crave for new content, stories that will leave me breathless, that I will live with every pixel of my character. First part of LS2 was really good, and too short (in the good way: I wish it had lasted more!), but the break they took is really sad: it’s like we don’t care about the Pale Tree fading, Ritlock being in the Mists, etc. I has been really present for two months, and now it has been three months and my hype for the story began to fade, that’s when the fun began to slip away from me. But being quite optimistic, according to me this wait was for the greater good. Yet, if it is actually barely interesting, or quite transparent, I cannot say I will still have the same fun as before, knowing ANet is working on things that barely enrich players’ experience (lore-wise).
Edit: I can grow bored of the game even if I still have fun while playing it, it’s just that I might not feel like diving right into it the way I used to.

About a bad analogy, GW2 feels like the SoulCalibur series: SCV was rushed, full of bugs. People have been asking for fixes, but barely got any. The team said “yes, we know our game is unfinished and buggy, we’re working on it”. Between the release and now, we only got costumes (aka gem shop armors/outfits), and new pay-to-win games (that are a cheap rip-off SCV itself). And from the team? Silence. Most hardcord players and veterans of the series have left because of the “give us money, we will remain silent for years, and once you get something it’s buggy and requires more of your money” policy.

I’ve lost enough fun in the SCV game to feel the analogy with GW2 (even though the content and the games are really different), and I’m not threatening to leave, I’m just stating that, if all the wait and silence was for nothing, it will be hard for many people, and they will feel the need to take a break from the game until some fleshy content come out.

However, I do believe the devs have read most constructive complaints and criticisms, and LS2 will leave us speechless, but I try not to get too hyped and somehow try to save myself.

I’m saying the people who post on this forum are a tiny minority of the game’s population and if we suddenly evaporated, I don’t think it would affect the bottom line as much as you do.

Sure I care about the game. But no matter what I think or don’t think, this game is going to continue with or without me. It’s not going anywhere, whether I personally like something or not. That’s the difference between me and a lot of forum posters. I know I’m a minority.

So I can come here and beat my chest and threaten to leave or incite others to leave and it will accomplished absolutely nothing.

This thread has a tldr; that basically says if Halloween is a repeat is it over. Of course it’s not over. It’s not even close to being over.

It’s not even a big enough deal to stop playing over. It’s the last thing I’d worry about because it’s three weeks and it’s gone, after which new content is coming out. And people will log in to play that new content.

I’m feeling pretty disenfranchised as a confirmed altoholic lately but I realize very very few people by percentage play the way I do, or have the number of characters I do. I was discussing it was someone in my guild just yesterday, complaining about the new trait system and you know, he said it doesn’t bother him at all. Because he has one character. It’s something he does, unlocks all the traits and he’s done. He said most people don’t care, no matter what the forum says…and I think he’s right.

This problem is mine. Anet knows the problem exists. Eventually they’re either going to do something about it, or they’re not going to do something about it. The less reason I have to make new characters, the less reason I have to play, and it doesn’t matter at all. Not to the future of the game.

Making the game better for me isn’t necessarily making the game better. It’s just making the game better for me. It will either happen or it won’t.

But caring about the game and suggesting what say we leave if it’s the same holiday event…that’s just silly to me.

People are a tiny vocal minority, but how many have left without saying a word?
Also, I said “time to move on”, I didn’t say “time to leave/quit”. We are all attached to “what’s coming next?”, and basically if “Halloween re-used + 3-month break” = “no new content”, it’s fair to assume that we won’t see anything significant for months. And that’s the whole point: if they are already on auto-pilot with huge breaks before any consistent update, the game might not be worth logging on each and every day.

Well your guild mate might think most people don’t care, but I can say many people care (in-game, on social medias, and here), but many are also happy. None of us will ever win an argument about who is right and who is wrong, because no one is, or ever will. Some people don’t care about updates and either accept or reject their fate, others fight on the forum to say what they think. Fact is, everyone has an opinion and every opinion is against someone else’s, just like your optimism is most of the time seen as a White Knight defense. I do respect your views, so do respect mine when I say I will focus on something else if such a long silence doesn’t mean something worth waiting for.

My experience of the game was also renewed lately (I’m an altoholic too), some parts I liked, some I hated. But in the end, I end up doing the same things over and over and over again, and I am not connected to the game’s lore as I was in the first campaigns.

So, if you didn’t get my point right (and maybe my English is the reason why), what I said with “time to move on” is I won’t bother to play the way I do now if the content that needs 3-month break and rehashed Holiday events is not outlandish. It’s as if I invited you for dinner, spent one hour in the kitchen (leaving you alone with cold canapĂ©s) and came to you with some spaghetti served with only some oil. I assume you won’t come again soon, even if my meal was delicious

People will complain anyway. If the game is buggy they’ll complain about bugs. If it’s too hard, or too easy or too hot or too cold, or too blue or too green….people are going to complain. This forum isn’t close to as bad as most MMOs forums so many would think we have less to complain about.

I have my own complaints…but I’m pretty sure most of them will never be addressed. So I either play the game and enjoy it, or I don’t play the game. I don’t suggest leaving or threaten to leave if something I don’t like happens.

I care too much about the game to simply leave it and uninstall it. I’m just underlining the general idea of people who are passionate about the game: all I personally do is wait for new content, as I barely play any other game. However, I will certainly take a break if the game keeps on going round and round. Most of us always have been way too optimistic, and on some emotional rollercoaster (to exaggerate), and we would like to show that not keeping the flame ablaze could be harmful in the long term, even to the new recruits the game seems to be aiming for.

If people complain about problem A or B and nobody follows, that’s just human nature. If people unite under the banner of problem C and nothing is done about, it’s normal to keep on showing their concern (hobosacks for example, or clumsily implemented trait system).

Do you think people would complain if they didn’t like the game? They complain because they do. They could simply ignore the fact some parts of the game are now less enjoyable, or some game breaking bugs that take way too long to be fixed, and leave never to come back. But they want to be part of the game and keep it enjoyable. Those who complain are those who want to stay, but I assume that there are many more who don’t complain and simply leave.

I have some kind of similar idea of stasis for two of my characters: my dervish and my ritualist.
I know my necromancer died of old age and my necro in GW2 is a direct descendant. My other GW2 characters are brand new in “my story”.
However, my GW2necro (in his RP story) received from my GW1necro (and the family) a box containing a piece of wood from Echovald forest and sand from the Desolation, among other things. They are the key to awaken the fighters from Cantha and Elona in order to battle against EDs
However, if it appears to be too complex (since skills have huge chances to change, and since there might not be dervish and ritualists), I’ll somehow work on the fast that my dervish’s and ritualist’s souls will be reincarnated in new host.

OP, reused holidays is the industry standard for a reason. Not many companies want to make a brand new 2 or 3 week event every year, just for that week. It’s a terrible waste of resources, just as making one time, temporary content for Guild Wars 2 was a terrible waste of resources.

I’m talking about the continuity of a side-storyline. I don’t mind having re-used events, it is indeed a waste of resources, but we were used to get something about MKT & family around this time. We are on 2 extremes here: either we get news temporary things we will never see again (2012), or we will repeat last year’s events with tiny additions (2014). What could have been done was adding a new tiny chain of quests each year, re-using last year’s events.

People complained about that one time content and now you’re saying if we don’t get a hint of something new it’s time to move on?

This time I’m talking about the general direction of the game. The game is still young and, if after 2 years, all we have is re-used content without any hint of new things, that’s pretty much as waiting for GW3 to be released, as we would be on auto-pilot.

Maybe if every game had completely new stuff every year, you’d have some kind of point, but most new stuff on holidays are small changes here and there, not big massive ones.

I think you’re expecting way too much from a developer.

I do agree. As I said, 2012 and 2013 were so different from one another that 2014 was expected to be so too (most people on the forum complained about the re-used 2013 theme). I don’t expect too much of developers, I know it’s hard to fight on many fronts at once. However, we are advertised to witness such hard work, nobody ever said “we were too optmistic it will be slower than expected”. I know it is, but it never appeared as such, therefore it is safe to assume they will stick to their commitment.

To be clear: I don’t mind re-used overall shapes of events with tiny twists to give a new experience, but I do hope than 3 months break + re-used events mean we are getting huge improvements and fixes on the game in general. If LS2 happens to be a damp squib, and if most bugs are still present, I hope you won’t mind if many people complain about the time they took to do nothing. However I do believe that we will be quite surprised by LS2, its ending, and the future of the game.

The only thing I’m disappointed about re-used Halloween events is that it somehow “breaks” the continuity of the Halloween storyline. It was fun to have this kind of Underworld Madness unleashed on Tyria just for some days.

However, I do assume that re-used events mean less time to work on them, so it’s easy to believe that most of their time and resources went into something big for LS2.

I try to mitigate myself but I can’t help being thrilled to see what’s coming next especially since it is stated to be focused on the lore, something that the game was lacking! Also I try not to believe the “we are so hyped” from the devs (sorry guys) because, as stated before, sometimes it was more of a damp squib than an experience that left me speechless.

I do however have faith in you (eternal optimistic), and I do hope that some of your mistakes were the best experience you had to release something worth the name of Guild Wars I am looking forward to being Nov. 4th (two weeks) and I do believe it’s gonna be unforgettable, and this time in a positive way

“A Living World
The return of Living World Season 2 is rapidly approaching. When the season resumes on November 4, we’ll see the story pick up from the cliffhanger that left one of the world’s leaders fighting for survival, and the races of Tyria preparing for war against the Elder Dragon Mordremoth.
For Tyrians, the awakening of each of the previous elder dragons led to catastrophic world events: earthquakes, tidal waves, and the raising of a long sunken continent are just some examples of the destruction left in their wake. These have seared their marks into the face of Tyria.
Now another elder dragon stirs deep in the heart of the jungle. The world’s leaders have agreed to turn their attention to this new threat and attempt to destroy it before it can wreak the havoc they’ve seen other elder dragons sow. As season 2 returns, we turn our eyes towards Mordremoth as our next target. We also ponder the meaning of the vision given by the Pale Tree and the role that legends of Tyria’s past may play in a story that is yet to unfold.

Holiday Festivals
As we’ve done in the past, there will be festival releases interweaved into this coming Living World season. Let’s take a quick look at our festival calendar for the remainder of 2014.
This coming Tuesday, October 21, the Mad Realm returns with our annual Halloween release. On December 16, we’ll release our usual holiday-themed festivities with Wintersday. Both of these releases will feature the same content as last year but with refreshed rewards, giving you fun new festival-themed items to earn.

Into the Jungle
The road to war is paved by points of no return. Tyria has already decided to take the battle to Mordremoth. As we go on this journey we’ll learn dark secrets of Tyria’s past, venture into stories with roots deep in the very heart of Guild Wars lore, and visit places that have only been rumored to exist.
Season 2?s final episode will feature an unforgettable end for all of you who go on this journey with us. So make sure to jump in and join the ride starting on November 4.

We’ll see you in game!"

Obvious news are obvious…

Yay re-used holidays… I really do hope that these re-used events are some kind of a hint regarding how the team worked on bigger things. If not, well, edit time to keep on living without expecting anything else than what’s explicitely delivered.

Actually I believe that CDIs are just examples of what should not be done: they are given ideas, and either they don’t care about them and don’t implement, or twist them sooo hard the result is far away from the expectations.

That’s how I see it: they live in a bubble and just get key words of our feedback, and they worked based on what they ear rather than on what they understand.
“It would be good to have some traits revamped, maybe a bit like GW1 skills hunt”, what they ear “It would be good to have … traits … hunt”, bam we’ve got that awful trait revamp!

Too bad they don’t talk about things that are worked on, because I assume we could help improve them. Instead, they just remain silent because “nothing is off the table”, they release half broken things (oooh sweet Chinese code copied and pasted that totally effed up the gaming experience for some people) and then go “yeah yeah we’re fixing that”, which is actually, translated to English, “deal with it, it’s perfect”.

Most of us rage when they don’t release what they said they would, or when they remain silent. But I do assume that most people wouldn’t rage if we knew that problems happened. After all, many want guild capes, and they said “it’s being worked on during the devs’ free time, and it’s really hard to implement”, and except for a few demands, nobody’s crying over that, because we know what’s the state of the development.

Unfortunately, some constructive criticisms do not reach ANet’s ears. I agree that being criticized is not a bowl of sugar, but hey, if the job isn’t done correctly, it’s up to the customer to make themselves heard. What if I handed in mistranslated books and said “nah it’s just as it should be”? I wouldn’t stay for long on the translating market.

Dear ANet, keep in mind: we’ve had faith in your for nearly 10 years, and these last two years are really hard for us to cope with the slow destruction of keystones of the game. We don’t cry and rage for the sake of it, we just love the game so much we don’t want to see it become a pale copy of other works. By willing to make GW2 too different, you didn’t make it unique, and you certainly didn’t make it a king in the industry, even though it could have ruled the whole MMO world.

Something weird happened… I pushed my graphics parameters to higher levels, and the game still lags/has low FPS, but it’s not as important as before… That quite illogical and weird…

Wwwes is right: I’m puzzled why they didn’t even popped a blog post saying “Halloween event” while they released a picture of a portal for LS2 3 months before it happens…

ANet is strangely battling against anything logical, and that will be there loss: too different doesn’t mean better.

I totally understand the “no speculative discussion”. However that means than nothing is certain: we don’t get anything. Also it is somehow implied that changes were decided upon metrics (I still wonder who the testers are, maybe the Chinese who were forced to use only that build?) and completely tested (you know, “when it’s ready”). The fact many changes resulted in game-breaking bugs or removal of content is a proof that the released that are not talked about are more speculative and untested changes than the great improvement they were supposed to be.

We don’t know what we get and when we get it parts of it are quite bad.

Gaile, you said you don’t want to get book spoiled on the cover yet you don’t like certain kind of literature. That’s what happening to us: we don’t get “spoilers” anymore but we’re still excited to “read” action and adventures stories. And when the “book” come out, it’s not what the title promised, full of typos and missing parts. And when we ask the author they say “oh I’m working on it”, and in the next book they made it worse.

Why can’t the higher ups understand we don’t want details, but just as many said an idea of what is being worked on (I assume some things have a huge probability to make it), and not the usual dodgy “nothing’s off the table/soon/being worked on” poor excuse.

I’m sad we are not a community anymore, just because of a too extreme silence.

FPS Issue with the 9/9 patch [merged]

So a friend just tested his account on my computer (which is supposed to be the problem according to ANet). He uses his high settings (since I am forced to have the lowest ones to be able to play a tiny bit), and guess what?

Not the slightest delay with skills, not a single FPS drop, not a hiccup. NOTHING!

So ANet/Tech Support/anyone reading, is the problem still on my end?
Seems like I am not responsible for the problem, but rather your copy/paste of a conflicting client from Asia (since lag/FPS drop happened right when we first got things offered by the Chinese version…).

I suggest trying the reverse as well – your account on his computer.

I tried, and it’s laggy and I have FPS problems…

Communication is somehow taken to the extreme: people complain about Colin’s excessive information that met a problem, and people complain about “we can’t talk about it”. What I assume ANet doesn’t quite get is that we’d like to see the general direction of the game, not read the whole story summarised. There’s a big difference between, e.g., “Kasmeer is actually a man named Claudio, which is the brother of Anise” and “Something important will be revealed about a main character!”, one is a spoiler and the other is a teaser. That’s what we need.
Also, about for example the lag/FPS problem, we don’t know is it’s being worked on or not (even if support implies that the problem is on our end), but we know we will see the portal to Maguuma two months before it happens… Well, not to be mean but it has been known for a while… (Same as the portal in the Southeastern corner of Mount Maelstrom, but shhh spoilers).
The information given is nowhere close to a spoiler and barely a teaser, it’s just like showing Marjory instead of a portal. To me, the most effective way to communicate about LS2 would have been to release a picture (no need to be too detailed) every two weeks, that would have kept the magic happening! But we got a picture of a portal, and now nobody cares, because we all know we won’t get anything before, so why getting excited for, actually, nothing?
We are all passionate and we all somehow fear the game will bore us before we could have enjoyed it through the whole story, that’s why we would like to be “calmed down” by being shown something “not broken” is being worked on. We crave for a continuation of our story, but we only get unpredicted (and sometimes useless) changes. That would be ok if we had an idea what’s the top priority of the company. We don’t need details, we just need a general idea.
I have faith in you and I love the game, so don’t make me uninterested just because you want to play it all secret. This is not some kind of threat or “if you don’t do as I want I’ll leave”, I just fear I will never get to know what will happen to Tyria…

We’re both on Augury Rock. Maybe ANet should check something: he bought the game 6 months after me. Heard from another friend who has lag/FPS drop that her husband barely has any, and his account is younger than hers.

does GW2 have a future?

If Anet don’t start releasing new content soon, there’s going to many people abandoning this sinking ship. It’s shame, GW1 had such a long run and people still play it, whereas GW2 is already dying after 2 years.

Guild Wars 1

Guild Wars: Prophecies – April 26, 2005 (6 classes, Tyria, 4 Elite Missions)

Guild Wars: Factions – April 28, 2006 (added 2 new classes, Cantha, skills, 2 Elite Missions)

Guild Wars: Nightfall – October 26, 2006 (added 2 new classes, Elona, skills, heroes, 1 Elite Mission)

Guild Wars: Eye of the North – August 28, 2007 (introduced Norns and Asurans, added new areas to Tyria, skills, new heroes, 18 dungeons)

A lot for its first 2 year and 4 months.

Guild Wars 2

We had snow ball fights, lesbians, and super cool armor skins.

Lessbians? MMO need lesbians for longevity now? Hey Anet, did you see this, you need to add some lesbians to GW2. Do that, and everything will be just fine!

… There are lesbians, Marjory and Kasmeer, that was his point.

I do agree that system requirements change over time, yet how could they explain that a 8-month old computer that was playing the game perfectly with high settings suddenly lags and sees a drop of FPS even when the settings are set to minimum?

This is certainly not a problem on my end, since my computer can still play other games with high settings. Also, it is not normal to have lags and low FPS at the same time as my friends because we live in different countries.

There is something wrong with their Chinese-ripped new system, but since they don’t know what they mixed, they don’t know what went wrong.

Indeed, it’s frustrating to be advertised new opponents each week (and it was totally doable!) and in game we get three times one opponent and twice another… On a 9-week tournament it’s ok to fight against the same server twice, but on a 4-week tournament… Thrice the same match-up is quite exaggerated.

Once again, we were hyped because of words and promises. And guess what? We are disappointed, just like usual, because they don’t respect what we were told.

We should really stop caring about what they say, because not even once were their advertisments close to what was delivered.
