Ok this Patch ruined PvE Balance because of PvP and WvW nice working Anet.

You showed in some of the Balance Notes that you can Skill Split even from WvW. You just need to kittening do it on more Skills.

The greatest Joke is on the Quicknes Generation. First capping Quickness on 5 Stacks instead of 9 Stacks makes Chrono Runes completely useless. Second, SoI is useless for Quickness now. And this also hits Rev as well. Tell me, for what Reason should I take in a Rev into a Group or Raid?

There was no Buff to compensate for this.

And buffing Mesmer Damage…. We’ll have to see. First Tests I’ve seen showed a DPS Increase of 2k. If this is still showing with further testing then GG. Gutting Quickness Uptime with no real Buff to compensate for. Also with this you practically nerfed the entire Groups Damage.

The Nerf on Condi Necros isn’t small either. The Minions were a good Source of Conditions. Since a Raid Boss Fight is longer than 30 Seconds, this is a Problem and can drop the Condi Necro out of the Meta and I’m not sure if the Power Necro Buffs are enough to push this Class into the Meta ( also Axe Buffs lol )

And overall, you Guys did it. The Meta is likely to go into a small Supergroup. 2 Mesmers, 2 Warriors, 2 Druids and 4 Eles ( or 2 Eles and 2 Condi Rangers on Fights where Condition Damage is needed ), something you didn’t want. GG

And condi Engi is also very powerful on their own, both in PVP and in Raids (hint: they ok damage) so what’s keeping them away of teams as condi dps is the other builds (above all necromancers)

This is just one viewpoint. Condi Engis are held back by more than just “Necro Stronk”. Their DPS Rotation is too complex. ( Hammer Guardians and Staff DDs are too simple, Condi Engi is on the complete opposite ) And the Situation needs to be nearly Perfect. They suffer hard from screwing up Rotations and having to deal with Mechanics. The optimal Rotation for DPS should be simpler than what they have now instead of switching Kits like crazy.
Buffing Main Weapons and nerfing Kits would be one Way to make Engi simpler and having to do other Stuff less punishing for your DPS and if the Class has the same DPS then it would be much more viable to bring in an Engi.

And I know that Epi is an Issue but I’m not sure on how to nerf Epi without gutting the Necro.

It also prevents self-resurrection via downed skill 4.
Xera, Trio and Escort don’t have a damage aura.
I’m not sure about sloth or Matthias but I think they don’t have one either.

Sabetha doesn’t have an Aura.
Sloth has Volatile Aura
Matthias has Snowfall, Spontaneous Combustion and Downpour but these on Matt also have some added Stuff like Chill Knockdown etc.

Most (All?) druids in PVP are already running Healing Power so they won’t be affected.
No Mesmer is using Signet of Inspiration in PVP which means Mesmers won’t be affected either.
Now every single Revenant in PVP is using Herald. We’ll see how the boon duration nerf will affect them.

More dmg for rev sooooo, I think I know what the next flavour of the month will be in the next season. xD

Side note: none of the guides I’ve looked at mention the aura damage. That’s not the game’s fault but I can see this being annoying/frustrating to new raiders.

This is something I don’t understand. While there are quite a few Guides out there, the Aura Damage isn’t mentioned at all. Perhaps its because most of the Time it doesn’t matter but I still see People today getting killed off by the Aura and they just don’t know that there is an Aura, even veteran Players are falling to this.
In my Opinion, an in depth Guide should mention every Boss Mechanic so People can be prepared for everything and not be surprised by something thats trivial in 95% of the Time but can screw you at the wrong Time.

Fun Fact. There are still quite a few People who believe that the Damage you receive in the Gorseval Spirit Phase comes from the Spirits, not from the Aura Gorse has. Leading to going away from the Spirits, waiting for Damage to not come at you and then dying while believing the Spirits killed them.

Why are people crying at druid nerf? Why are you allowed to heal for lots but are also able to ware either berserker or viper gear at the same time. I can’t think of any other class that can get away with having strong healing AND high dmg out put. Reminds me of gw1 a smiters boon.

Because Berzerker gear on Ranger is about as effective as Cleric/Shaman gear on any other class in the game.

Funny Thing is that Anet once decided to go against a 10-Man Boon Distribution because they feared a Supergroup with a stale Composition where you pack 1 of every Class and then YOLO. With this Changes however we run in the Risk of having a smaller Version of a Supergroup. Mesmer, Warri, Druid, Ele. Just mirror it. Perfect, you need nothing else ( ecept 2 Necros for a few Encounters ).

Before judging those upcoming SoI-changes, I will wait for how significant the dps-increase for mesmers will be. My hopes arent too high though.

Mesmers DPS would still be bad and wouldn’t justify the gutted Support capability.

It isn’t all bad. They are increasing mesmer damage

But we’re a support class and always have been. Our damage is irrelevant, if people want to do damage they should role another class. 90% of classes do damage. Let us keeps our unique active support role.

At least I see the Chrono as pure Support. Mesmer should get Damage with a new Elite Spec but it seems that Chronos will now get DPS thats not kitten anymore, just Bad ( because buffing Damage is what a pure Support Class needs ) and mediocre supporting capabilities.

Thinking again about it. Still not agreeing with the Changes.

I mean, this will cause a Meta Shift and in most cases a living and Changing Meta is a good Meta. But while a Meta Shift can be good and making the Game more fun ( like Meta shifting from 4 Warri one Mesmer Dungeon running, over Time to a Dungeon Meta with more Classes having a Place. ) others can be really bad and this Balance Changes have a good Chance of gutting the Meta in PvE making it much more restricted. If a Change would lessen the Build diversity so much like the new Changes would do, then don’t implement them. This Game is much healthier with a great Build Diversity where a lot of Builds are good and can be played in the “Meta” or “Near-Meta”.

And this Change is a great Example on why we need Skill Split. Mesmers Signet of Inspiration will get a huge Nerf ( if the information on the Leak a few Weeks ago are correct the fixed Number is around 6 Seconds but I just hope that the Fixed Number is higher ) while it is understandable from a WvW Perspective this is completely unnessecary in PvE. You would then need 2 Chronos to get a similar Amount of Quickness for the entire Group, which means, more Alacrity will get spit out. And Classes like Ele will benefit quite a lot of Alacrity. A Thief will not benefit from it and as a Result will fall back a lot behind the Ele etc etc. Buffing Damage will not compensate this Nerf. Chrono is a Support Spec not there for its own DPS but to crank up the Groups DPS. This is going to be a big Change for PvE which is done because of WvW.

And I think I don’t need to Talk about Rev, this poor Class will get no Spot in the Raids now. To compensate quite a lot would need to be buffed for it. Here PvP is affecting the Rev in PvE.

Again, good Examples why we need a Skillsplit, otherwise the Gamemode would still interfere with each other and Changes to Balance one Mode could destroy the Balance of another one.

Wow that are some crappy Changes if they are hitting PVE as well. With this you would kill Build Variety in Raids, forcing a 2 Mesmer Comp, while the Rev is pushed out of the Composition and if good Quickness Uptime isn’t possible with even 2 Chronos than Classes who benefit from Quickness will suffer, causing Eles getting favored over other Classes So future Raid Comps will look more like. 2 Chronos, 2 Warris, 2 Druids and 4 Eles ( or well 2 Eles and two Necros cause of Condi Damage ) and nothing else. Dat Class variety.

My Suggestion. Split the WvW and PvP Balance from the PvE Balance and then you can proper balance PvE with Fractals and Raids in Mind. ( And Open World isn’t suffering anything because Open World is just YOLO ). And as an added Bonus, WvW and PvP could also be proper balanced, without affecting PvE or PvE affecting PvP.

Right now every Balance Patch has the Risk of completely gutting PvE Balance just to get Things in PvP and WvW balanced.

Like ButterPeanut said. Changing a Kill Mechanic to something thats just doing Damage will not teach Players how to deal with them properly. Sabetha’s Flamewall was a good Example he brought in. Players would find Ways to deal with it but not in the Way you need to deal with it in Normal Mode and it can lead to Habits detrimental for the Normal Mode.
Other Example would be the Mines on Escort ( oh and lol for trying to Nerf an Encounter thats basically a harder Version of an Event ), with your Suggetion you could defuse by the Mines by just walking into them. Just use dodges, Blocks, Distortion or other Means to it. Does it your suggestion teach Players to not run into Mines? No, it teaches them to defuse them by using some Sort of Damage Avoidance and then running into them.

Some other Suggestions doesn’t make any Sense or come from not knowing how the Encounter works and others.. well its hard enough to get 100 Derangement Stacks, for 150 you’d have to work towards it and in that case I would totally Kick that Player.

With these Suggetions, a somewhat competent Druid could heal up most of the Damage resulting in ignoring them. Not a good Way to teach People in doing the Mechanics.

More people are signing up for GW2e every week, so it’s no surprise that the fraction of people who raid is declining. Those who raid were more likely to have signed up sooner. There are other signs that raids are getting more popular, not less.

Also think that more and more People get interested in Raids and quite a lot of them are looking for a Guild where they can Raid with People. Just an Example. I’m Part of a big Raid Training Guild which isn’t accepting new Players now because we can’t accept any more. The Moment we have enough Room for new Players and we open again, we can close the Applications after one Day beause there are a lot of People looking for a Raid Guild and we didn’t really advertise our Guild.

If they were truly serious about the economy, they would stop the AB multi-loot exploiters. The glut of rares and ectos coming from this has seriously devalued the rewards from most of the other activities in the game.

And yet the ML still is working against inflation since this farm takes Gold out of the Game.

What is interesting in the Ecto-Market is the Fact that in a Matter of just a few Days the Ecto Supply went from 240k to 500k while the Price just dropped 2 Silver at the same Time. Multi-Looters alone couldn’t have done this in such a short amount of Time, some Stockpilers went Panic here. Even more interesting is that, despite having such a high Supply of 700k now, the Price is still around 30s and didn’t completely crash, its not even close to the All-Time Low of 13s it once had. ( And if you don’t count this because it was close to the Release of the Game another Low at 18s, nearly one Year later )

SO AURIC BASIN continues to behave as unintended ???

All you gots to do really. is add a 5 minute account wide time out on map swapping by the user.

auric basin is fine sure. but the issue is map swapping… remove the option ?

Perhaps Anet thinks that ML is ok right now, with following Reasons.

1. It encourages Players to do the Meta Event.
2. It balanced out the Ecto Price. ( From 50-60 Silver to around 30 silver and right now it stays around 30 Silver even with the Supply now )
3. It is a Gold-Sink Farm. ( Yes you get Gold by selling Mats on the TP but it also takes a good amount of Gold out of the Game )

TL;DR:
Removing a timer may cause players to make less mistakes, and makes those mistakes less deadly.

Sry as someone who is in a Raid-Training Guild and has raided with People new to Raids I can say this isn’t true.
People do mistakes because they are new to the Fight, don’t know how to deal with certain Mechanics, think they are the best on the Fight and stop giving 100%, overlapping Mechanics which then create arkward Situations, not paying Attention and well Panic.
I have raided quite a lot and never was the Enrage Timer the Cause of Mistakes

So please let us all know how exactly GW2 won’t make the same exact mistakes if they were to pursue different difficulties when based on cause and effect:

- Easier difficulties take development resources
- Easier difficulties do not adequately prepare players for harder difficulties
- Easier difficulties detract from one of the biggest merits in raiding: the First Epic Kill
- Easier difficulties divide the raiding playerbase

…I’ll stop with these for now, have fun!

Easy mode: remove timer for bosses.
Cost in term of development time : 2 days.
Add a small reward for the beginners in easy mode : 1 day to infinite amount of time.

Uhmm…. Why do People think that the Timer is a Problem on the Raidbosses?
Removing a Timer doesn’t make a Boss easier. These Guys would still die to Mechanics like on our normal Boss Encounters.

The next Raid is being speculated to allow us to finish the Legendary Armor. Now after that I’d like to see legendary trinkets, we have weapons, armor, backs, how about rings and amulets?

Well the AMA didn’t say that the Legendary Armor will be finished with the next Raid. What we get from the AMA is “The Envoy II Collection will be completed in a future raid.”

Just to burst a bubble before the next Raid comes in and the Legendary Armor isn’t implemented then ( with the occasional Outrage )

I think that our Character is not cured. The Moment the Shadowstone was used on us our Character was in Pain and also transformed into an Anomaly for a short Time and now our Chars can Transform into Anomalies as well under the right Circumstances. We are still somewhat poisoned with too much Magic ( More than we can handle right now ) but I think that we will find a solution in the Future where we can handle this Amount of Magic without any ill Effects.

I would say that the new Raid would come in two Weeks or in November. In the AMA the Devs were saying that the new Raid was coming quite nicely so I think that they are finished with most of the Stuff.

Judging from the one Portal and the Numbers of Things missing on the second Tier Precursor Collection it is likely that we see a small Raid with just one Wing.

I’m quite curious where the Raid will be. Since we are now close to the Door of Komalie, it could be some Part of the Domain of Anguish. ( The Hardcore Part of GW Nightfall ).

I hope posters in the last few pages realized how completely off-topic they’ve gone.

It seems to be the Rule for Raid Threads, in this Forum, to get derailed just to argue about the same Topic over and over, without any Progress on either Side.

BTT: I think we will see a new Raid(Wing) in two or three Months. From the AMA it was said that the new Raid Wing is coming quite nicely so it is probably mostly done and they are in the Boss Testing Phase with some of the Guilds here.

How Big the Raid will be is another Question. The first Raid had three Wings but this doesn’t mean that other Raids also will be this big. The Devs said that they make the Raids as big as it is logical for the Story they want to tell there, meaning there can be Raids with just one Wing or even with 5 Wings ( even if thats unlikely ), if we see the Colelction of the second Legendary Armor Tier than its likely that we will have a very small Raid with just one Wing.

Also where do we Raid then? We don’t know where the next one will be. Could be somewhere on the Fire Islands, the Wizards Tower or even Thunderhead Keep. Or it could be north of DR, we don’t really know, there may be clues in the LS but if so I haven’t found them. So where do you think the next Raid will be?

Thing is, I excluded the Invuln Phase and the Split Phase from my Calculation and just used the Time where the Guardian was attackable to calculate the DPS and tbh I was surprised that the DPS plummeted so hard but well the Mechanics can really kill off the DPS. And you are right with Gorse, its easier to keep up higher DPS. Its even easier on Sabetha since most of the Group don’t need to dodge.

And again on Topic. I always use around 1500 Toughness for Tanking just to be sure. Aggro Swap on Gorse and KC is annoying and I have seen Groups where this can lead to the Group panicking. On VG I always want to have the Aggro otherwise he doesn’t move when I’m moving, resulting to awkward Situations for the Group, otherwise known as wipes due to Green Fields being on Charged Zones, and on Xera it is really important that the Aggro never switches otherwise she’ll use her Confounding Flurry Attack while facing the Group, annihilating the Raid with it.

Well the Numbers are achieved in a perfect Situation and a Bossfight is everything but a perfect Situation. Normally the DPS in pretty decent Groups are 50% less than what you would see on the Benchmarks. Killed VG with 2:50 Min left? Each Member of your Group has roughly around 9 to 12k DPS on average, which is really low compared to the Benchmark DPS.

The Benchmark shows of what your Class is capable off in a perfect Situation and while some Groups are going pretty close to the Benchmark normal Groups are losing much more than one would imagine.

The bloodstone did not “lock away” magic (and that may not even be possible as wards would be magical in nature and they consume magic), they hid away uncorrupted magic. As far as game sources give us, they can access the magic and is why Primordus moved from the Central Transfer Chamber all the way to the Fire Islands.

Sorry but the Bloodstone IS locking away Magic, not just hiding it. To access it you need a Bunch of Seer Artifacts. And as far as I know the Game Sources don’t tell us that the Elder Dragons have Access to it.

On Xera I think Anet missed an opportunity with her. The first Human Phase is fine but the second one is too similar to the first one. After I saw her big Bloodstone Form, I kinda expected to fight this Form in the last Phase with different Mechanics. Like Mythic Archimonde in WoW. Something that worth being called the last Boss of a Raid.

Bloodstones are basically made of magic. Dragons EAT magic. See where I’m going with this?

Dragons can’t access the Magic in the Bloodstones. They ( or it, since it was one Bloodstone at first ) were made to seal Magic off from the Elder Dragons.

I can’t really follow the thread because it branched off into to many side-topics, but from what I have caught is that some people complain about the Gem Store – or any sort of payment. Which is ridiculous. It’s like not willing to pay electricity bills after signing the contract and being happy that you can switch on the lights and your toaster.

I would (and actually do) pay for this game via Gems and I do it because I know how real-life and businesses work. And I assume 80% of the playerbase does as well. This whining about any cost for such a high quality title like GuildWars2 is usually coming from either unemployed people or kids without legal ways of paying.

Indeed, because you.know, this game needs saving because it’s so empty.

Your Post really proves that the Game is pretty Empty.

Ok srsly. This is something I never encountered. Even after the Release of the Game. Looks like LS3 is bringing back enough People.^^

The signature feature of the mursaat, even more than Spectral Agony, is that they are Unseen unless you’re Ascended or otherwise able to spot them, which the GW2 PC explicitly isn’t – Lazarus could have been following us since he appeared to take out Caudecus’ followers, or he might have been the the mursaat ruins in Ember Bay for his own reasons, saw the PC, and followed out of curiosity until the PC returned to “Stone Face” and mentioned an “ominous vision”, further sparking Lazarus’ curiosity (particularly since even if Lazarus didn’t know who the PC was in Episode 1, he certainly seems to now).

Also a good possibility that he followed us. Since we aren’t Ascended, don’t have Goggles of true Sight +2 or something similar we aren’t able to see him if he phases out. We only could see him in the Episodes because he chose to be seen.
But why would he follow us? Pretty easy. We killed 2 Dragons. Something where his God-Complex arrogant Race failed at ( together with the other Races ). Of course he would be interested in us.

I thought a lot of people liked KC?

Well noone I know likes this Fight ( a few in my Guild even want Anet to redesign this Fight and they love most Raidbosses ) and there is a new Reddit Post from one of QT, talking about the Flaws of this Fight.

But why I think this Fight is badly designed.

RNG choosing which Mechanic you get. ( Bombs or Phantasms ) and both are completely different Difficulty wise. You have much more Time to deal with the Phantasms than with the Bombs. And getting Bombs in the last Phase is a Pain because the Bomb AOE’s are overlapping the AOE’s from the Boss when he jumps in the Air, making it very hard to see these AOE’s. If you get Phantasms in the last Phase you nearly killed the Boss, if you get Bombs, than this can screw you over.
Also quite a few times most of the Team is doing nothing. Literally nothing. Football Phase with enough DPS on the Big Adds, 8 People can play a few Turns on Pokemon without impairing the Raid Performance. Circle Mechanic. Just stand in and do NOTHING else. ( at VG you still had to deal with Seekers and could attack VG ).
Pizza Attack, go in Safespot and just wait. zzzz

If the Data is in any way representive, than 31% of all active GW2 Players are doing Raids. which for MMo Standards would be Mind Blowing

But there is still Room for Error so 15% less and we would have 16% which is much more Realistic but still great.

And well GW2 Raid Bosses in average are not a Joke and we have only one really bad designed Boss here with KC but otherwise the Bosses are pretty Challenging.

If Templates would be the only use of dead Bodies than Mordremoth wouldn’t need many dead Bodies to create an Army, but the Wording from Tizlak is implying that Mordremoth is always taking dead Bodies to create more Mordrem. You don’t need that for just Templates.

And as the Pale Tree shows us. You don’t need to have the Templates alive and undecayed to make more Minions. Just save this Template and keep producing. I mean is it even said that the dead Bodies at the Grave are now still there?

And I always thought that the Wolves were Corpses being reanimated by Plant Matter. I mean it certainly looks like that and and also would make sense sigh

And with Edge of Destiny. Forgot about that Book, need to look at it again. But right now from the Wiki, its not said that this is made out of Bones and Ice just living Ice. But I will look in this Book again.

But Claw of Jormag. The Legs look more like they are Bones made out of Ice instead of Ice covering Bones.

And the Pale Tree used Human Bodies as Templates but not as Raw Material. Mordremoth is using the Bodies as Templates AND as Material for more Minions. Like Tizlak said. “Mordrem take a Body from the Battlefield and turn it into many Monsters. So we always burn our dead imediately.”
This “burning the Bodies” wouldn’t be neccesary if he just uses them as Templates.

Also having Destroyers in , for example, Kessex Hills, doesn’t mean that Primordus himself was there. Just that his Minions found a Way to this Location. Its likely that Primordus moved around but stood most of the Time in the Shiverpeaks ( And well the Shiverpeaks are more than big enough for him moving around and still staying in the Shiverpeaks ), having enough Magic to eat there. He is only moving to the Fire Islands because there are vast amounts of Magic there now.

Not sure about Lazarus’ capabilities to kill us off quickly. Not only are we now also capable to absorb Magic, we can also use Countermagic to throw the Spells back he is sending at us, would hurt Lazarus quite a bit especially if we throw back his Spectral Agony.

And with the Death Thing and Mordremoth. Right at LS2 we saw corpses being used by Mordremoth, most obvious with the Wolves. These Things are Corpses reanimated with Plant Matter. I would call that undead. The Trolls also look like some sort of Corpse being renimated by some Plant Matter. Not so sure about the Terragriffs but their Face also looks a bit Skull Like

And Zhaitan’s Death thing isn’t just turning living into Undead but also using Dead Bodies to create more Minion, by either reanimating them or using these Bodies as Raw Material for other Types of Minions and well at the Time of HoT Mordremoth was also using the Dead as Raw Material.

Interesting enough. There has been no dead Things renimated by other Dragons now. No Icebrood, Branded or Destroyers were created using the Dead. ( Well for now, it’s likely that we see some Destrosyers in the Future who are also renimated Animals or People )

There are at least two Cases of Mordrem being Corpses controlled by Plant-Matter. Mordrem Trolls ( the ones with the Bees ) and Mordrem Wolves.

The Trolls look like Troll Corspes who are infested with something and the Wolves are straight up Corpses.

New "streamlined" legendary process

They never took away Legendaries.

To the new streamlined Version. Well I prefer the having Lore tied to the Legendaries which makes them stand out even more. But I can understand Anets descision. Tying Lore into a Legendary seemed to be the Part that took most of the Time and we saw how long it took them to get out the new Shortbow. Since Anet promised a new Legendary Set and the delaying of it left a black Mark on HoT, it seems logical to get some Distance from the Part that takes the most Time and in Return giving out new Legendaries faster, thus not breaking their promise. And well many People seem to be happy that we have now Eureka. Looks like Anet made the right Descicion for the Game and its Community.

And if he is just tricking the Pact Commander (who’s to say that he isn’t the reason why the defenses failed? After all, mursaat and Forgotten worked close together so they have similar magic), then it’s possible he’s waiting for either the Pact Commander to be weakened, or waiting to absorb more magic and become more powerful.

I would say that if he is tricking us ( well his Timing at the Last Instance was nearly perfect, too perfect ), he is waiting until we kill another Elder Dragon. He knows that we killed 2 of them where entire Civilisations failed to kill even one. So for him we are a very useful Ally. He thinks that we have the best Chance, so he is “helping” us out.

We’ll see his Endgame when Primordus is dead and he is absorbing its Energy. ( Ironically our Characters now also can absorb Magical Energy, its possible that we also absorb some of the Elder Dragon’s Energy after its Death then, which could be a WTF Moment for Lazarus. )

I recommend you go back and read those tablets again. Nowhere do they mention that the Seers had a civil war.

Also a Way to see it. The Tablet mentioned that Society devolved into violent Tribes. It could be that the SeersSociety devolved but it also could mean that the Society of every other surviving Race devolved into Tribes and Civil War.

But even if the Tablet is telling us about a Seer Civil War, it never mentioned or hinted that they wiped themselves out.

Easiest Raid Wing

Wing 3 has the Escort Event which is easy. Keep Construct which can be cheesed by enough Damage but also relies on bad RNG and Xera where the Fight boils down to. Kill Shards and push the Button

Wing 1 has an awareness Check. A DPS Check and a Coordination Check. Nothing too difficult.
Wing 2. First Boss needs good amount of Coordination and Mechanic awareness and was a kittenblock Boss before he got nerfed. Second Encounter is easy and then Matthias comes in and punishes your every Mistake.
