It was annoying at first until you remember that there are a number of skills in the game you can use to draw them closer to the boss. As soon as we swapped in a bunch of skills (pulls, knockbacks, fear) we simply wiped the floor with the boss.

Reducing thier range would pretty much ruin the unique aspect of this fight.

One thing I really like about this fight is, that control skills aren’t freaking useless. In fact, they help you a lot here and it is much more fun to chain pull the poor hologram to the clockheart, than just… you know, kiting the slow clockheart to the walking bombs.
The range they have is perfect.^^

Small rewards.
More annoying than difficult.
Easy if you play with TS and stuff, impossible with Language barriers and random players since your personal skill iimpact is really low.

Do not like……I bet it will be a ghost dungeon in 2 weeks.
And notice fotm with 0 rewards are still played a lot.

Ooze minigame that teaches you a mechanic you need to understand in the next bossfight. CoF3 hasn’t something like this.
Puzzle with electrified ground. Completely different from the mine walk or the 3 torches.
Final Boss in Cof3: Golfplayer who likes to launch players into the lava with his meele attacks and gets invurnable before casting a Stonering with skillag.
Final Boss in TA/Assault: Trows Gears if you don’t meele him. Has a hard hitting frontal Cone attack. Can immobilize you before getting a shield. Shield grants him stacks and if he has 30 stacks you are screwed but the shield can be removed with a hologram.
Yes almost identical.

Srsly, if you don’t like it, good. But don’t compare the new dungeon to something like CoF3. They are completely different. In terms of quality,, trash mobs and mechanics.

Completed it 3 times so far leading pug groups, it’s not hard, tedious and low rewards maybe, but not hard.

99% of the 5 man content in WOW is a failproof zergfest. I have never seen any (pug) group as off late that struggled with any 5 man content (since the start of cata). And they nerfed all content and whent full casual mode since, where:

- every 5 man boss is 1 shottable by everyone. (where is the challenge?)
- mechanics can be ignored in quite some cases or are so simple that its a pure tank and spank pretty much (mechanics where are they?).
- you can do every single fight with 2 or 3 people standing afk a few meters from the boss. (no teameffort involved).

And dont get me started about dungeons while leveling. Pretty much all bosses are soloable by equal level players that have gear that is up to par. Doing it with 5 means its a snooze fest, something similar to champ farm runs (but even easier than that).

This post reminds me of my WoW time at MoP. You only need two classes in a 5 man dungeon. A Tank Warrior and a healer. Nothing more. I played as a tank and it was hilarious. With a tank i could easily outdps DPS classes and hold all the aggro. Sometimes i thought it would be best to have a 4 Warrior, one healer gruop.
Sounds familiar.

Ok back to topic. I have to disagree with the OP. This new dungeon has really good and creative mechanics. The bosses are not HP-Sponges, they die rather quckly. If you want to see HP-Sponges, try Healthpoints of the Waves. Srsly this is one of the best Dungeons in GW2.

Took me a few parties to complete. Ooze coordination being 1st major reason for player drops. The wipes caused by toxic stacks for the pair of bosses the 2nd. And last boss’ buffed mechanics causing wipes and lack successful of holo luring.

I felt there was too much use of luring the ai mechanic in the path, made awkward with various pet classes, compulsive kiters and folk who dps any red name.

You don’t have to do holo luring in the last boss fight. Instead of kiting the boss into the holograms, you could pull or knock the holograms to the boss and kill them.

Worst encounter I’ve seen since Frizz. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually miss the old F/U path…even though I almost never ran it.

Nope, this is one of the best encounter ingame right behind the Berserker/Firestorm encounter.

What would I honestly stand to gain by lying to you… It’s completely doable, just kite thg ooze through the oil slicks. Nobody said you had to stand in melee and eat his powerful attacks…

why would you kite it through the oil if you are not standing in the oil to begin with.

To let the ooze remove the oilfield. The one with the ooze buff has to kite through the fields. It is important to remove this fields because every field gives you a DoT stack and with too many fields the DoT stacks high enough to kill the entire party.

It isn’t too difficult. You need to coordinate and understand the mechanics in this dungeon. Did it with my guild and we got to the end. Wiped a few times but we learned from the wipes. This is how it should be

Did he killed you with a rapid fire aoe, you can aviod this by taking down his shield with a hologram, use control skills to pull or knock the holograms to the boss, and kill it then. The other aoe attack is a cone attack, so if he is casting this, get behind him.

Funny to see how much energy people spend on hating Scarlet.

Sure Anet did some mistakes with delivering the informations about her. But after reading the short story again, I can’t see a Villian Sue there. She doesn’t made the unrealistic deeds that would made her a Sue. She didn’t graduate from the colleges, she didn’t see the eternal alchemy and she wasn’t responsible for the Asura Storyline.

Very little Information. Perhaps there is more to it.
But a new path? Sounds good. I think the other paths in TA will get an update too. It would be a good opportunity to revamp the Dungeon and get the Bossfights right. The original Bossfights are either boring, completely unbalanced or both and we know that Anet can provide us with good bossmechanics.

It’s not really a retcon. If people read all the dialogue in the Closing Ceremony instance, they would have heard Vorpp say she got engineering degrees at each college. The player base then assumed she also did the entire course work for each college on top of that as well.

If you don’t want your villain to be a Villain Sue, you should be very careful not to write her like one.

In my opinion it would be better if Vorrp hadn’t said that she excelled in the three colleges. It was a bad mistake by Anet to let him say this and that she had been trained by Charr Norn, Hylek . If Vorrp hadn’t said this, most of the people who claim that she is a villian sue wouldn’t say. I can understand why people were mad because, that what Vorrp siad would make a straight Villian Sue, but nowthis “fact” is branded in the mind of the community.

The Short Story could have helped but it would have only worked if Vorrp hadn’t said anything about Scarlet or if they modified some parts of it, put in more details what kind of courseworks she had worked on. Sometime little details can be the difference of a good or normal villian to a villian sue in the eyes of the people and in my opinion

Anet made a big mistake with Vorrp and forgot to add some details about Scarlet in the short story

And to the Eternal Alchemy thing. She thinks that she saw it, but from what i see in the Short Story, we don’t know what she really saw ( something with the Pale Tree but nothing more was shown ) and i don’t believe that she saw ithe Eternal Alchemy. He have yet to see in another short story what she really saw. Perhaps we will have a closer look to Ornadds machine. But we will have to wait until we get more information.

Please don’t nerf it. Do you want another loot pinata? There is one reason for failing this. People not knowing what to do. I saw some people at the turret but not enough to protect them. The people on the turrets tried to kill the mobs and didn’t even bother with reducing Tequatls scales and almost the entire zerg was hugging this dragon.

It will get easier, yes but it should only get easier with player experience.

The ICC doesn’t really have an advantage. It only saves you 15 minutes of World 1 facerolling, which alone gives you 190 lives, enough for zone 1 and 2 in world 1 if you are a good player.

My guildmates went through world 1 and 2 of tm and they didn’t need a guide or the ICC. If the ICC was P2W it would be impossible to do it without the coin, but it was possible.

The coin is pay to be lazy, nothing more, just like the infinite gathering tools. It won’t help you win the TM, you still have to be good at jumping and memorizing to get through both worlds.

Pay to win? Hell no.

This Coin doesn’t win TM for you. You still have to memorize the traps and also need enough skill for the Jumps, especially in World 2 Zone 2 and 3 ( Hello ice ).

What the Coin does: Save some time for farming but come one10 to 15 Minutes are more then enough to gain nearly 200 Lives. And if you could’t afford 15 minutes for 200 Lives you shouldn’t even consider trying TM.

Please, stop the P2W whining. This game doesn’t have any P2W Item. The coin isn’t really giving you an advantage, because it is very easy to get the bauble bubbles. One bauble bubble gives you 5 coins and each coins gives you 5 Lives. It isn’t hard to get enough lives for the tribulation modes with the bauble bubbles.

You are aware that with this change, Tequatl will go the way of the Karka Queen. People will attempt Tequatl a time or two, fail the event and will never go back to that encounter again. It doesn’t matter what quality of loot he drops. People don’t want to bang their heads against their desks. People want to succeed. WoW tried something very similar with ‘Oondasta’. It was a colossal failure.

People who quit Tequatl after two fails should quit playing. Srsly. fails should be expected at this world boss events especially the dragon events if the players are doing nothing but spamming 1. Tequatl was boring as hell and free loot and the players asked for dragon fights to be more challenging. Now he gets buffed and you are complaining that people will quit tequatl after 2 fails? Srsly what do you want? Loot Pinatas? If this is what the community wants then i can only say one thing: this community is the biggest fail i’ve ever seen.

But only if this community wants things to be free loot.

And the “people dont want challenges, they want to suceed” thing. Bullkitten. All people i know want challenging stuff, they want the dragon fights to be rewarding AND challenging. They dont want them to be loot pinatas where you could bash your keyboard with your head and gain loot, and they are looking forward to a dragon fight you can actually fail.

Really strong attacks which could one or two shot should be telegraphed. Look at the Golem Boss in Caudecus Manor. This thing has an attack which could one shot players and this attack has no animation. This is poor design because you have no warning that he is doing.

A better example how to implement an one shot mechanic is the fight against the molten berserker in phase two. He has a fire shockwave which can one shot the entire party, but this thing has a 5 seconds animation. 5 Seconds are more than enough to get yourself to safety and with safety i mean to get out of range, or to make yourselfe ready to dodge or jump over this wall of death. Yes it is easy to avoid this thing. Ok should be easy, seen to many players just standing and waiting for their death. -.-

I would love to see a boss with this mechanics implemented Mad Queen, not only it will spawn 100 " Boss is OP ner nref fren nref it immediately" threads but it would be a challenging and good fight where you have to be careful with dps and control.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing bosses just use a temporary defiant buff that wears off after a few seconds, just to prevent people from CC locking the boss.

Most players who find that the current defiant and unshakable mechanic is a stupid idea, wouldn’t mind to have this a temporary buff. At the moment, you are just wasting control skills to be enable to use exactly one control skill. With a temporary buff control skills wouldn’t be completely useless. But you need also mechanics to prevent players from just dps all things to death.

Kabooses idea may be a step forward but its no use to have a boss with many weak and few strong attacks if zerk groups could kill the boss in 5 seconds like the searing effigy at the end of the citadel of fail path one. Perhaps a reflection buff, which will appear every 10% and stays for 5 seconds health could help. With such a mechanic the party could dps itself to death if the players dont pay attention.

A good control boss example is the double fight against Ralena and Vassar. If they stand together the fight becomes very difficult ( i’m not mentioning the lvl 80 groups who can just ignore this because of bad scaling ). You need to put them apart, luckily they dont have defiant and unshakable, so you can use your cc skills to have an advantage

Personally, I think the ugly truth is, players in GW2 claim they want challenging content, but really they want the easiest possible way to obtain whatever goals they’ve accepted.

More than truth, you only need to look at the molten facility runs in the Flame and Frost Living Story to see what most of the players really want. We had two really good bossfights, one was the testing ground and the other was a fight against two bosses. With enough movement you could handle the first fight very easy, but as soon players found savespots to avoid the mechanics all of them started to use this savespot exploit.
Also true in the final bossfight of this dungeon, pug expected you to use a savespot under the berserker to avoid damage from his flameshockwave and all other shockwaves, thus lenghen the fight, because no one dared to pull him out of his shield. but make it easy enough for all to finish him. Some even thought it was the only way to beat him, but they forget that you could do the boss with enough movement.

In my opinion most players dont want challenging bossfights or even think about the mechanics, they just want to have a easy time with everything and use exploits like it is just a normal thing just to make this fight easier, even if this means to turn one of the best fights in the entire game into a boring brain dead encounter.

I kniow that the molten facility isn’t available anymore but it is a good example of how exploiting can ruin good encounters and the fun and challenge to fight them.

I just hope that this is a bug, instead of a nerf. We already have too many bosses who are nerfed into a brain dead fight, we need no more of this “easy” crap.

I like the softenrage mechanic of NULL, to be honest i like the whole mechanics of NULL. It is something differemt from other bossfights.
But i dislike some flaws and bugs in his mechanics, like he can spawn his shield and detonate the mines right away. Or spawn the shield after we ripped the thing from him, or the fact that he can detonate the mines, which vanished after they explode, just in the moment they reappear. Yes this skills do have a cooldown but sometimes NULL can ignore the cooldowns, sometimes, not always.

Most of the time when he is spamming his shield, it is because the partyfailed to bring his shield down fast enough, but sometimes the party brings the shield down right after he spawned it and he just shielded himself almost instantly.

So, fix the flaws and bugs of NULL and you have a really good and challenging boss encounter but please dont nerf his skills, we dont want brain dead bossfights with mechanics you can just ignore.

So why not say to your party “Hey, My builds really good at support so I’ll be focusing on helping out my allies more then damging the boss.”
Or “Hey I’ve got some great control skills, Leave debuffing and interupting to me!”
Lastly “I’m not very good at control or support so can I focus on damging the boss please?”

This is exactly what i hoped to find in this game. To do what you can do with you skill. But if you are saying that your build is a control build, the party will kick you 90% of the time an tell you to kitten off with your noob build or roll a zerker build, because in bossfight, all you need is damage. Some support can help but control is a joke against bosses. There is only one class who can ignore this stacking defiant crap. Its the thief with his basilisk venom. Yes, this skill has a 45 seconds cooldown but this thing works on most bossed, from little asura to giant stone statues. All other classes are srewed with their control skills becaus of way how defiant works.

Like you said in the video, make this thing a timed buff, to make control effect efficent but not overpowered. With a timed defiant buff Anet can build interesting boss fights The mentioned mix with many weak and one strong attack is a good idea. We can even expand on this. Let’s just take the Prototype F-IV Golem of phase 3 in the Kudu boss fight of the Sorrows Embrace dungeon.

This golem burns a lot and “can” purge conditions to heal himself, but honestly i’never seen this purge work. Ok now this boss gains the “new” timed defiant buff and gets some rework with his mechanics, so that he tries to purge the condtions every 10 or 20% HP ( depends on the health he has after the rework^^ ) , with a visible animation and make him resistant or immune to damage when he is trying to purge the conditions, so control at this moment is a must have, but if the party uses control on cooldown they can’t really interrupt him and he heals himself and also gets a bit stronger but if the party can interrupt him he becomes weaker for a good amount of time.
And in explo he gets something like an enragestack, if the party fails to interrupt his purge 3 times he goes oneshot an wipes the party. ( But this only if there is only one golem instead of three ).

Ok this was a little mechanic suggestion, but in my opinion control works better with a timed defiant buff instead of a stacking defiant buff, and this suggestion should show that more interesting boss fight mechanics are possible with the “new” defiant buff.

Control also needs more effect in fights. I would love to see defiant numbers lowered, and certain effects moved off defiant, like dazes. but it would need some looking at as certain Controls can have very low cooldowns.

Yes Defiant needs to be changed. At the moment this thing makes control nearly useless. There is only one control effect that ignores this thing. It’s the petrified effect which only the thief can use. Yes the thief is the only one who can ignore defiant.

Instead of giving all bosses immunity to ALL control effect, give them controll immunities that are logical, like the bigger bosses can’t be knocked but dazed and feared and smaller ones can be knocked but have an immunity to fear. Or make defiant a timed buff instead of a stacked buff.
So you can still use control skills efficently wihtout making them overpowered

What abramelin said. Sometime between day one and the last patch after his inital sheild NULL was immune to all conditions.
This has now been fixed (as well as the random bomb explions on disarm.)
I must say the fight is now much better. Challenging without being broken.

Yes it is better with this fix but its still buggy as hell. Sometimes he instantly activates his shield after its ripped off him.
Only the Partyleader gets the chatmessage that NULL is going to detonate or override the mines, so the other members are like wtf when he is detonating them.
He loves to detonate his mines, even if they just exploded right in his face. ( Yes the detonated mine can still explode and this shouldn’t be possible ) or if the mines just barely spawned and are yellow, so you have no chance to override them and use them against him. Oh and sometimes he does it without an animation.

If he is spamming his shield and mine detonation in the softenrage phase than you have no chance defeating him.

And if you have bad luck, then you don’t get a reward.

Don’t get me wrong. I love challenging bossfights but with the bugs and issues, this is not a challenging bossfight. It’s just like. " I had more fun fighting Zhaitan than this bugged crap"

I’m sure this can be a good bossfight. The mechanics are good ideas and I see how this can be fun if they fix the bugs and issues with NULL
