No, I’m upset because ANet said we could unlock the elite spec with the extra effort of core world completion, and 3-days before release, they say we can’t.

Uhhm you can unlock the Elite Spec with extra Effort of World Completion. You “just” need the full 400 to get everything done which includes Skins and I think that the Skin(s) is the really expensive one there for the Elite Spec

If you do, don’t complain.

Extend this to Release Day.

I think Anet knows that the Release of HoT will stress the Servers to the Limit and beyond but they either can’t change it, due to Server infrastructure ( which has Weakpoints ) or things that will help are too impractical ( like having enough Servers to make sure that they don’t crash, what to do with them after Release? )

How do you know 1 mechanic of the Vale Guardian is missing?

Don’t think anyone was able to use the Speed Mushrooms that were in there since that mastery line wasn’t available yet.

That’s probably just an extra help to get to the electric exploding orb faster…

And doing more Damage because the Speed Shrooms give you a 10% Attack Speed Boost

FX Changes: Much needed. The Effects may be Awesome but they are so flashy that they make it nearly impossible to see where small Mobs are facing and they can make even AOE Attacks from the Mobs invisible. A good Step to a better playability.

Leaderboard and Legend Delay: Unfortunate but well at least you told us why. With the Legend, well to be honest. How many People will be able to craft the Legend Backpack in Week one or two? I just hope, the Delay won’t be too long because I want that Backpack xD

And I’m surprised to see that there is way more Salt in the Reddit Forum than here. Normally its the other Way.

eh, balancing raids around the opinions of people that only adhere to the metagame is going to result in incredibly crap raids.

Well Anet won’t add or Cancel any Mechanics of the Bosses by now. They are rather fixing Bugs with the Raids and adjusting the Numbers a bit.

@ Blakdoxa: Try to improve yourself. Many Things that have been considered impossible in the Past are now very easy and on Farm. Also be patient if you are gonna Raid, because it isn’t unusual to wipe 10 to 80 Times on a Boss ( Depending on Difficulty ) before killing it for the first Time. And believe me, the Feeling you have after killing one especially difficult Boss is really great and makes a great Encouter even better.

Remember the Time where Combo Fields were considered useless? ( Even Fire Fields ) Or nobody would go into a Dungeon with an Ele?

Give Players Time after Release and you’ll see that some Classes/Elite Specs will offer some unexpected Builds that will be really good

There are (ascended) infused rings but not Accessory infused and Amulet infused. Very inconvenient and strange.

With the new fractals, you’ll definitely need more AR.

A Ascended suit of armor is fairly pricey and not easy to make.

Accessory infused and Amulet infused, will be very handy and essential.

Well it is likely that the Fractal Masteries ( some of them at least ) will deal with Agony Resistance so you can get more Ar out of less Items.

The Nerf itself is Fact. But we can only Speculate how much will Anet nerf from Dungeons.

To be honest, there is really nothing Anet can do to avoid kittenstorms.
The Moment they say something they need to be really careful otherwise People will twist their Words ( even if they are Careful ) just to kitten on Anet and normal People who are disappointed with something will join these kittenstorms ( because they are dragged into it, getting false Information or want to make fair Critisism at first but write themself into some sort of Rage because everyone else is doing it ).

If they say nothing, well it also gets ugly with the Community.

I have seen enough kittenstorms on the Forum here ( started by so many Reasons that I can’t say which Topic didn’t devolve into one at the last 3 Years ) to say: Nope they can’t avoid them. They can reduce them but not avoid such Storms.

I hope we will see less kittenstorms in the Future but I can say that next Week Friday, there will be a kittenstorm going on.

It’s been their modus operandi since the game’s release, nerfing any gold farm or quick wealth generation scheme to keep scarcity high.

Except when they did introduce the Gold Reward for Dungeons and the Champ Bags which also grant you small Amount of Money

And despite their claims that they nerfed gold income to stop inflation, nothing could be further from the truth. They kept nerfing gold farms and introducing more goldsinks in the form of ascended armor and yet precursor and legendary prices have only kept increasing over the years.

In Fact most Pres and Legends are stable in Pricing, being most expensive last Year and now many are slowly getting cheaper.

Also Anet removed a Gold Sink a while ago. You don’t need to pay anymore to repair your Armor.

Change is hard, and nobody is forced to raid in HoT. My perspective GW2 is going in the right direction with specializations, healing, and raids.

If you want a WoW clone, go play FFXIV. Stop pushing the devs to make this game into your amusement park. The original vision for this game is eroding so rapidly, much of it thanks to people begging for more of the same MMO tropes.

Well the WoW Clone Argument is mostly done by thos who even haven’t played WoW. GW2 and WoW both are totally different and yes that also means Raids. Have Raided in WoW and seen the Vale Guardian. It feels nothing like a WoW Raid Boss, the Combat Mechanics are too different for this.

The people who are saying 5% difference is nothing but between 10 people its a 50% difference collectively but…that 1-2% extra damage (per person) can be 10-20% more damage effectively.

Sry but your Math is really flawed.

As an Example. We have a Full Exo Group where a single Person is dealing 100 DPS. Thats a total of 1000 DPS in a 10 Man Raid with everyone dealing this 100 DPS. Now with Ascended everyone would do 5% more Damage. So 105 DPS for a single Person = 1050 DPS for a 10 Man Raid. Still 5%

To be Honest I think the Rage, some People show here is because these PEople wanted the Exalted to be Mursaat and now we see a bit Lore twisting here.

First of all. The Exalted don’t look like Mursaat. Mursaat are Beings made of Flesh, Exalted are made of Magic.
The City Saul found could’ve been anywhere. The Article about Saul says that he found the City in a dense Forest. Nowhere in the Article stands the Term Jungle. For what we know it could be the Woodland Cascades North of Kryta.
Also the City of Tarir is in a Jungle and the Exalted were dormant at the Time of GW1 or even nonexistent ( since the Article said roughly 300 Years ago and this could mean somewhere between 349 and 250 Years ). Now try to find a City in a Jungle, you could literally walk past a City in the Jungle without knowing that you were nearly in the City you walked past. Also Maguuma was stated to be one of the deadliest Regions of Tyria ( you know, like Australia but with more Jungle ), try to fully explore something like that. And look back at GW1, we never went really deep into the Jungle.

The hypothesis I made about Saul mistaken the Mursaat as the Exalted comes from Saul’s lore.

After he was exiled from Kryta he wandered into the Maguuma Jungle for days eventually finding a grand city in the thick forest itself. Exploring the place he meet Winged beings that spoke left melodius sounds.

Saul attempted to find this city again after he formed the White Mantle but never found it this City.

of course as Saul’s lore mentioned he was slightly out of his mind during that time due to constantly wandering the forests surviving on little amount of food and water and didn’t know if what he was seeing was a illusion or reality.

Sorry but this Article doesn’t mention the Maguuma Jungle. It mentions that he was exiled, send somewhere and found a City in a Forest. If he had found it in Maguuma, the Article would’ve told it. It could be that he found the Mursaat in the Woodland Cascades, which is far North and closer to the Isles of Janthir ( which could also be Mursaatr related )

Was there something in the Lore that told us that the Golden City of the Mursaat Saul found was in Maguuma? Because as I know, he found them in a Forest and Maguuma is… a Jungle. Its more likely that he found them in the Woodland Cascades North of Kryta.

So we have Room for a Golden City in Maguuma without tying it to the Mursaat. Also the Exalted look extremly different to the Mursaat. I think we will deal with the Mursaat in the Raid ( since we have probably White Mantle Activity there ) or in the LS Sea<son 3

Why nerfing the HP? The HP and Enrage Timer are tuned so, that you can defeat it with not being a full DPS Group and still having Time left. It doesn’t matter if you have a full Zerker Group. If they kitten up every single Port and run half the Map every Time for the Orb then they would hit Enrage before the first Intermission Phase.

Mistakes on the Mechanics are a heavier DPS Loss than switching out the Optimal DPS Guy with someone who isn’t Zerker/Sinister/Nuke/Searing Cauldron/Whatever is the most DPS Thing.

Play the Mechanics smoothly and you can beat the Boss.

Raids: Required Ascended?

Since we know the community will use this confirmation to twist recommended into required, will there be any plans to improve the acquisition of ascended?

Even the first Kill will be used as an Argument to say " Raids will Require Ascended Stuff and is impossible for others"
But to be honest, in every First Kill, there is Room for Improvement. Having it killed with one Minute less on the First Kill? Get better and it will be two Minutes and three Minutes, also the First Kills themselves are not really optimised. A few Ports happened ( DPS Loss ), some Positioning kitten ( also DPS Loss), not being able to use the Speed Shrooms is also something that made it harder ( The Shrooms make you attack 10% faster ). And there was the Squad UI that didn’t really help by being not there.
I’m pretty sure that we will see this Boss and probably the others being defeated by Exotic Groups also with having enough Time Remaining.
So no Requirement

It would seem that a bigger problem there is having 9 players stop DPS while running to/from the lightening AoE, when really only 4 needed to. Seems like a much larger DPS loss than 2 subpar classes.

Wasn’t it five People you need for the Lightning Thing?

There are a few Cases of Massive DPS Loss that can happen here. The first one is having everyone going to the Lighting. It cuts off the Damage you can deal, just having a dedicated Group to it is more than enough
But the bigger Loss is if your Party is being teleported away. You have to go back to the Encounter and the Boss can Port you really far away. If your PArtymembers are ported almost everytime than you don’t have enough DPS to kill it. But it can be very difficult to see the Port AOEs since there are also big Particle Effects going on.

After playing the raid with entire squads in full ascended and still having trouble beating the boss, I’m now very concerned that raids truly will be reserved for the hardcore elite 5% of the game’s population.

Does anyone else remember when beating Teq was considered difficult? I do. I remember failing Teq numerous times with an organized guild leading on voice coms. Now Teq is about as automatic as the Shatterer. My point is, relax. Raids will be tough at first until you learn them, but before you know it, you’ll be farming them with pugs.

I remember the Forum after the first revamped Teq Try. Everyone was crying on how impossible this Fight is, why it should be nerfed and why its gonna be a Wasteland. Even after the first Kills most were saying that only the no-life Players would beat this Teq. And now? On Farm

WORLD FIRST VALE GUARDIAN KILL

GZ to the Kill.

The Boss has certain Mechanics that you need to be aware of Lendruil otherwise you will wipe after 10 Seconds.
There are the Red Seeker Orbs that go towards the Raid and do a good amount of Damage but can be knocked back.
You have small blue AOE Fields that Teleport you away when they activate, you should not stand in these.
The most important Mechanic is the Lightning Orb. You need 5 People to soak this AOE otherwise the entire Raid will die. If you are on the Soaking Team, make sure not to be Teleported away xD
There are 2 Intermission Phases where the Raid splits up and kills the 3 Guardians.
At Phase 2 you have 2 new Mechanics. The first one is a Clusterkitten of AOEs but the Bosses Breakbar gets enabled and you need to kill this Breakbar. The other Mechanic is that one third of the Floor start to shine and you don’t want to be there and you need to Position your entire Raid far away from the shiny Floor ( which also switches so you have to move ) just to make sure that the Lighting doesn’t Spawn in the Shiny Field.
Phase 3: 2/3 of the Field is shiny.

So the Boss Encounter itself is Challenging enough even without the Timer and you have to know the Mechanics and how to deal with them.

@ Mitch. Perhaps you can tell us what you don’t like about the Boss encounter.

Only squad chat was broken. You could use map or say chat as a work around.

If only the Chat was broken then Anet didn’t need to Disable the Raid. There more far more Issues with the Squad UI itself, like getting kicked out of the Raid, the UI not being displayed correct and even Log In Problems that vanished after deactivation of the UI.

The only reason I wanted to try the beta this weekend was for the raids :/ I already seen the other content in the previous beta weekends. Didn’t they test this out internally before they let it go live? I wonder… Oh well, I just hope when HoT launches there will be no issues with raids :/

Uhm they tested it Internally but you can have things working fine on Internal Test Servers but getting wrecked really fast on Live Servers. Also, better this thing Crashed on BWE then after Release.

Thanks for the Information. I hope you find the Issue fast and hope we can Test the Raid before Release. Must be frustating to have something that worked fine in Internal ( must be, otherwise you wouldn’t let us test this ) to be completely Broken once it went Live. Hope you can fix it fast.

Here my little Feedback on the Events
First Daytime:
Noble Event: Most of the Noble Event is fine, good Timing, a few good laughs and ok Events. There wasn’t anything that went superfast or took too long except the Wyvern. The Wyvern has one Problem. His Breakbar. The Breakbar now is tuned so high that a bigger Group of Players can’t crush the Breakbar. And since his High HP is tied to the Damage Boos after killing the Breakbar it makes the Fight way too long and tedious. Please adjust the Scaling of the Breakbars.

Quaggan: Good Story here and in Theory good Events BUT. The Enemy Scaling is off. Diarmid does almost no Damage. I could facetank his Spin to Win without Problems and it dies so fast I thought it was a Sniper in squishiness. The Airship Salvage Part takes waaaay too much time. Going up to the Platform, search for the Parts which can be really hard to see and then go to the Norn, and repeat over 20 Times and more. This needs adjusting.

Nightime: Defending the Rally Points is still the same. Standart Events but now with the Nighttime Buff I know what was missing in the second Half of the Night. The Boss Events in the Canopy.
And I like the Bossfights. The one in the Ordnance Canopy has 2 Encounters. The first one with three Bosses who are Easy on their own but should be seperated otherwise they get really deadly Abilities. It was really nice to fight Bosses with Mechanics like this. The Second Encounter, I think was the intended Boss Ecounter but this Boss was easier then the first Encounter. slowly Charging while Swining his Hamme is nice but his Attacks are easy to dodge. ( except if you are taunted )
The one on the Noble Canopy is also nice. A few Smokescales who want to turn your Attention to them while the Boss is preparing his One Shot and this is a rather good One Shot Mechanic. The Moment he prepares it, his Break Bar get enabled and you have to melt it down to Stun the Boss otherwise you will be killed. The Text says that this Boss has Stealth but I haven’t seen Stealth on hin.

Broken Break Bar Bosses

Well I think they tuned it up because in the last BWE, the Break Bar was nearly non existent. The Moment the Wyvern tried to get in thze Air was the Moment his Break Bar was enabled and broken at the same Time. But now we see the other Extreme. Break Bars so highly tuned that you can’t exprect them to be broken. It makes interesting Fights like the Wyvern long and tedious.

Somewhere in the Middle of the two Extremes we saw is a healthy Tuning. Please play with the Tunings right now in the Beta so we can test the Balance of it.

did anyone else notice that the snipers are no longer in the personal story? are they even in game anymore? icant seem to find them

They are in the Game. But they are now very Rare. Seen only 3 of them yesterday. Don’t know if they still do the damage they did on the first and second BWE, but they now Stealth to get to a better Position.

But Please Anet. Ramp up the Difficulty. The Story Mission was laughably easy now and Verdant Brink is also much easier now. Too easy, most of it is now braindead Difficulty.

To my Post. Well it would be nice if the Buff Cap would be raised to 10. It could be that the Devs tested it and found that something didn’t really worked with it.

We don’t know the Encounters, what we need to bring and if the Bosses are different than the ones we know. If they are then the Group Composition OP brought wouldn’t happen, if they are simliar to our Bosses then we will see something like OPs Group which we don’t want, we have to see. If they are similar then yes, Buffs should be raised, if not, then we don’t need this.

Also I think there was a Bog Otter Video where this was adressed. I’ll search for it

There are no issues with having a druid or another spec that is focused on healing. Now if the only way to beat a raid is to have a druid/healing REQUIRED, then yes, it is a failure on the part of ANET.

Could be more like " Its Optimal to run one or two Guys who can Support through healing but you still can get this done without it like everything else"

Second, this Site is amazing. You can really see what your Account is worth. What Dyes you have, what not and what they cost. It even Calculates the Costs on Crafting Things and goes for the Cheapest Route. Something that can help new Players.

Since there’s no taunt to make an enemy constantly attack you, there is no trinity.

Also the Healers are doing more than just Heal, they can also do Damage buff Allies or control the Enemies.
Something that is impossible in a Holy Trinity Setting

I haven’t watched the stream,. Can anyone give an (unbiased, regardless of stance on trinity etc etc) synopsis/overview of the Druid?

Spam heals to fill a bar to enter a mode where your heals are stronger.

You have to worry about positioning to maximize your heals, so “heal spamming” is already going to be a more skillfupl playstyle than current meta.

From what I’ve seen, healing with Druid is less about just watching Bars and mor about Positioning yourself perfectly and also using the Attacks of your Opponent to Support your Team ( Hello Snipers, your Volleys are Healing me )

Sorry guaranteed damage and people given the job of healing your unavoidable damage is not adding anything to the game.

Its a forced dependency with no depth

WE still have to wait on how this will work out. The druid is looking like a strong Healer but we also have other Classes who can Heal well like Eles and Guards.

And having Unavoidable Damage isn’t a bad Thing. It can also mean that Enemies are attacking much faster but weaker, it can mean we have some Attrition Mechanics, it can mean having a much better AI, it can mean anything

The Druid seems to be very Strong on the Support Side on Anets Trinity while tapping in the Control Side and having also some Damage.

So no Holy Trinity

And yet they still haven’t fixed teragriffs so their charge has a proper-sized hitbox!

My lord yes.

Positioning is a very important part of game play and those things really put it out of whack.

Two Things can help.

1. Reduce the Charge-Hitbox so they fall in Line with their Body
2. Give the Charge a Line AE Field so we see the actual Size of it.

Since this is an official MMO Forum, it is normal to see most of the Forum Community to be negative. Most People who enjoy the Game don’t even bother to post something here.

There is one Thing I learned from other MMO Forums: Ppl tend to exaggerate bad Things and downplay the good Things about the Game., and every Class is OP and Useless ( Especially your Main Class is the most useless Thing in the Entire MMO History) at the same Time. If you say something bad about the Game, you are a Hater and if you say something good about it you are a Whiteknight or paid by the Dev. This is what happens in most MMO Forums.

But here you have the Chance to see constructive Posts and other People suggesting good improvements instead of just going all Doom

More Asuran Stuff hmm, I find it to be more likely to see the secondary Focus on Human Stuff and perhaps seeing some White Mantle Plots.
