A couple of bosses that are basically a big pile of hit points, and too many adds with CC effects. Sort of like Orr in the bad old days when I couldn’t be bothered to go back there, and now I wont be going back to Silverwaste for a couple of weeks.

That isn’t the slightest bit fun.

Yes only a pile of HP, not. A Terragriff with different attack patterns and a Troll who also can summon rocks out of the ground, besides the thing with the bees. HP Sponges look very different.

But they feel like they are designed for a dungeon. The Terragriff would fit in a dungeon very well with his Stuka attacks, its not so loud shrieks and ftl charges. The only thing that they should really change are the trollface tendrils with their pulling.

The Troll well, it needs a bit finetuning with the rock spikes. They should appear faster, I would say, double the speed, and a bit more random, because this idea is good, and while the rocks are going faster the more damage the troll ahs received, it isn’t fast enough.

Both bosses didn’t really took long to be killed but well, into a dungeon, a bit fine tuning and you have two very good bosses.

Wait...that's it?!

Went to a almost empty map today. Me and another player tagged for commander and after a bit time we had a really good map running the fortresses and having no problems at the champs.

Clearly not dead the map, you just need one or two willing to tag for commander, be patient and do events. And the Map will fill up automatically.

I think if the ‘time to breach’ could be significantly reduced by coordinated efforts this map could be a lot more fun.

According to a user on reddit or these forums, a fully coordinated group defending all forts took 18 minutes to breach. It actually is fairly quick if everyone is on the same page.

It never seems to go that fast for me, but that’s great if it’s true. I typically defend either amber or blue and have escorted a number of blue and amber dolyaks but never seen any siege at either location except burning oil which doesn’t reach most of the attackers.

Is there some correlation between supply level, number of dolyaks and what seige should be present?

Well every Fort has other types of Siege Weapons.
Red has Arrowcarts which are very effective against Mordrems, they make the defense Events there easy.
Indigo has Mortars who can deal quite a bit damage but it isn’t that easy to use them right.
Don’t know what siege weapons are at Amber.

The higher your Supply Level the more Siege Weapons you should have. I saw 4 Mortars at Indigo which was at Supply Level 4 so the Supply Level does matter.

Saying that this is more unorganized than dead is right. Today I walked to one SW Map that had no Commander. So I tagged at one Fort and asked for another to tag as commander and it didn’t took long and we had three commanders, were defending the forts with no failure and almost got all bosses. Its really easy to get a map to work at the events, you only need someone to take the first step.

And since the Chest farm was nerfed everyone puts the blame on the “empty” map at the other faction without admitting that they were also part of this “problem”. Farmers blaming this on Anti Farmers, while ignoring that even they had the right to farm, they totally abused this, and it was clear that, if left unchecked, would go out of hand.
And we had the Anti Farmer, who had the right to complain constuctively ( happened here with some threads and ideas to spread out the farm ) but also went to vocal about this. It’s not the “QQ” that led Anet to nerf it, not alone. The massive Abuse did also its part and since the last farmspots had a history of having a toxic atmosphere because the farm was incompatible with normal and “intended” playstyle, Anet decided to nerf this.

And here one last piece I would give to everyone surprised by this nerf

Anet : Nerfing farmspots since 2005 and even today they can somehow surprise us with farmnerfs

WEll for CC there are two interesting Mobs in Dry Top. Number one is the Roadrunne… I mean Three Toed Tootsie who wants run run circles and gets out of the fight. Unless there is someone using a CC skill he’ll suceed.
Second one are the Giant Beetles who can only be harmed if they are attacked from the front but there is an exeption. If a CC skill hits successfully this mob can be harmed from every direction. These are interesting things that Anet should expand on.

As for conditions, just getting rid of the condi cap is too easy, ask the PVP guys. Well if they remove the cap just in PVE it would be better^^

I think that mobs should get condi weaknesses, where certain mobs are extra vurnerable to certain conditions, like Plant Mobs being really weak against burning while being physically resistant. The Husks are a step in the right direction but Anet shouldn’t stop there.

- Jenna now wears platform shoes and hosts the Queens Disco Jubilee
- Pay 10 gold and the cows dance for you
- New finisher “Flash of White” Colin’s smile blinds you to death
- Once you hit 80 you have to redo the personal story in reverse and can bring Tybalt Leftpaw back to life!

Good Ideas, I laughed really hard.

But I think the first Idea should be in the other directions.

How to Devalue Berserker gear without Nerfing

Walhalla.5473

Just leave zerker gear like it is but………

-Bring back death penalty from GW1
-Take reviving off characters except Guardian and Necro
-Bring back foe Necromancer who can raise zombies of our dead………

Problem solved, balanced groups here we come.
No Nerf or Buff needed

And still all would run Zerker. Look at Afyas post. He/she pointed out the problems with most of the PvE content.

To be said, Anet is on the right direction with the new mobs and bosses in Dry Top. Just try to kill Three Toed Tootsie. Attack this bird mindlessly and you will fail. This is a boss where you need CC.

But the problem is. The rest of PvE can be completed without thinking and tactics. Some Stats need to be reworked, like the way boons are working. Anet must reward other ways than just Zerker to make them viable.

Still loving Guild Wars 2

Walhalla.5473

I’m playing since Release and I still love this game.

But the fact that I love this game doesn’t mean I don’t see what is wrong with parts of it like the dungeons or the Level Gating of some core features. If I critisize a part of GW2 I try to give some suggestions to make this part better in my opinion. I don’t assume that everyone has my opinion and I try not to speak for a majority. And more importantly I don’t insult other players, devs or the choicec they make. Insulting someon is the same like admitting to be defeated in a conversation. Saying that Anet is full of lazy idiots or that they can only screw up break promises etc etc is not only not true but it doesn’t help. The worst thing it can accomplish is to set the devs in a painful silence.

Be constructive with your critizism and don’t insult others. If you want to be heard you have to follow some “rules” otherwise you will be ignored by the ones you are talking to.

don't underestimate your players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Walhalla.5473

Walhalla.5473

Don’t underestimate the player? Well true, some of the new leveling changes are just wrong. Why are some of the core Features Level Gated like the downed status. I know the Level needed to activate this is low enough but players aren’t really learning what to do when downed with this method.
I think there is a much better way to introduce downed to new players and this method was also added with the last patch. We have a dodge station where people can learn a bit about dodging. A similar station where an NPC gives some information about the downed status and sets you downed with a puppet to kill would do much better than level gate this feature.

I can understand why Anet is doing this after seeing the average player for 2 years stumbling at simple things like the marionette champions or the constant whining about content that “is” too hard where in reality this content is only a bit harder than open world stuff. But Anet is doing this the wrong way, Level Gating is not a good method to teach players new things, instead players feel like the game is taking them for an idiot, and no player, idiot or not wants to feel like this.

To teach players stuff you need an actual tutorial and have some stations where they can test it practically.

And a last point, I don’t see any benefit for babysit alts from veteran players, it feels even more insulting for them.

@ Draknar. AP can’t even tell if you are playing since release or not. For example I play this game since the 3 day headstart and last week I got the 6k AP Chest.

Well I support the AP hiding because of the insanity I see every day in the LFG.
20k AP for Arah

AP are no indicator for Skill, but unfortunately most players don’t understand this

"Downed State" frightening for new players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Walhalla.5473

Walhalla.5473

While most of us take it as a given that every player knows what to do at the down state, it was never explained ingame what to do when downed.
As a player from the first hour I knew about it because I looked at interviews, gained informations about a game befor it would be released. Most of the players who played at release gained their information this way, so it is easy think that everyone knows what to do in the downed state and it was easy to forget that nothing in the game tells you what you have to do when you are downed.

So I’m all for a tutorial telling new players what the downed state is and that the downed state is not the end.

Well the problem here is: This pair of vocal posters is loud enough to be heared everywhere. And I have seen some crapstorms here and they were insane. The SAB2 storm was insane enough to make its creator feeld bad about SAB. Teq was one giant crapstorm, AFTER ONE ENCOUNTER. Devs only need to stumble a bit in their posts or interviews to initiate a crapstorm.

The amount of rage and hostility is bad enough that other places call this forum a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Well this isn’t true but the playerbase in this forum has a really bad reputation, bad enough for others to say such things. But we can also do better like being more constructive and critisize without rage.

The fact is. You only need a small minority to destroy things that we love. It happened in the past with other games and other stuff. This minority only has to be loud enough to do such harm.

It seems any type of red in a thread acts like chum in water, and it lures out the same exact people fighting over and repeating the same exact arguments over and over again.

The wall of dev silence was bad, but now that they’ve come to the forums again, it seems that the toxicity levels have remained just the same. The only difference being that the haters, ragers, and/or trolls now have an active target to aim their spill at.

And we all know what will happen if this level of toxicity remains. Hello Dev Silence.

Well my first suggestion would be to replace the old AOE Circles with the new ones.

The new ones are far superior to the old AOE circles. They don’t get lost in an effect storm, are very visible and they allow AOE attacks to be at any shape. And some heavy hitting attacks in the dungeons are some sort of AOE that could not be portrayed with the old AOE circles like cone attacks. With the new AOE telegraphs they could be made visible.

" This is too hard". This complain happens at almost every content that is a bit harder than the normal open stuff like the fight with
The Shadow of the dragon
. Srsly if this is hard than GW1 must be the Dark Souls of MMOs. Don’t get me wrong I liked this fight, it was fun and more challenging than 90% of the PvE stuff, but not really that hard. And this complain even happen on stuff that is intentionelly hard, like Tequatl or the Worm ( well now they are at Farm Status and now not really hard because every one knows how they work ) Especially Teq got this sort of complains ( more likely a storm of complains ) after the first fight against him

theory about player made Sylvari

in Living World

Posted by: Walhalla.5473

Walhalla.5473

The Shadow of the Dragon is an example of retcon. Originally it referred to Zhaitan, now it’s either referring to Mordy or just generally to EDs.
The reason you fight the Shadow of the Dragon in the dream is because it’s your Wyld Hunt. The Wyld Hunt is given to Sylvari in the dream. The same way you can also dream about unicorns and knights.

Now I’m not dismissing the possible connection between the Sylvari and Mordy (we simply don’t know at this point).

Not so much a retcon but more a misintepretation. Now one knew about Mordy at this time and your Character only said, that you saw a dragon, not what kind of dragon this was.

The chars only thought it was referred to Zhaitan because they didn’t know better.

It was also speculated that this dragon was not related to Zhaitan but to Mordy who is the “Jungle Dragon”

Maybe Trahearne could convince the Summit to commence without the asura, but who would listen to murderous/unhinged Pact members.

Not to mention that the Asura would cut off any communication with outside races and have a legitimate reason go declare war on the pact and/or the players race.

Srsly never, NEVER kill an ambassador on a diplomatic mission, even if the ambassador is motherkittening kitten. The consequences of killing one would be more than serious and maybe we would doom our world. And all because we killed one ambassador for confiscating the invention of a child.

Was fun tho, will definitly do it again.

Well it’s the same everytime. We have something thats a little bit harder than Open World or CoF and this causes some people to whine about the difficulty.

Wolves that do ridiculous damage while flanking and those flying flower thingies that don’t take much damage from the front are nice touches to make positioning in combat more relevant. And those husks… first time I’ve been forced to switch weapons in a while. They take less than half damage from direct damage, but melt to conditions. Definitely a step in the right direction if Arenanet wants to break the Zerker meta.

Anet can use these Mobs in dungeons, they could be perfect there with their mechanics.

I have nothing against these buffs in some bossfights or being a part of an actual mechanic, but they are in nearly every kittening bossfight. It’s one of the reasons why the dungeon fights are boring. With this only one of 5 Control Skills are working, others are just useless, and to remove the stacks you have to use control skills and sacrifice dps. It’s pointless to do so, you can use dps to kill a boss really fast.

To make matters wors, some fights like the Mai Trinn one have mechanics that would work well without the Anti CC crap, but well guess it, Unshakable. Without this one or a reworked Anti CC buff thats timed, Anet could make fights that are much better, more different and complicated. Using mobs with Low HP and High toughness is a first step to make fights better now Anet must go the second one and rework this buff.

To add onto my theory: she was looking for ley lines other than LA, more intersections to disrupt, and those near LA was to pinpoint exactly where to drill.

Good point and this one makes really sense, but many people are wondering how Scarlet could possibly know about a ley line intersection in Lion’s Arch and I think the answer comes from the Thaumanova Fractal to be more precice from this line. “At least they helped identify the network of magical channels that crisscross the globe. That was a breakthrough”
So she knew there was an intersection under or near Lion’s Arch because of Thaumanova but she had to use the probes to know the exact position of the big intersection, with this giant Drill you don’t want to miss the intersection.

@ Rainbow Spirit: There are several things that speaks against the Sylvari = Dragon Minion aspect. First with the Dream. The Dream isn’t unique to the Sylvari ( White Stag ) and not all Sylvari are of the Dream ( Mallyck ). And Mallyck is the second point against the Dragon Minion theory. He isn’t a mindless dragon minion without free will and he is not from the Pale Tree.
Also Sylvari are immune to Dragon corruption and nothing else on Tyria has immunity against dragon corruption, even other Dragon Minions can be corrupted by other dragons, look at CoE Story Mode and Subject Alpha in the explorable modes.

Also cleansing the minions of their corruption needs a kitten load of magic even to free a chicken from it.

Ok to Lazarus. Him being involved, well there is a low chance but it could have happened. Lazarus has more than enough reasons to throw the world into chaos. Humans are respnsible for the nearly extincion of his race. ( He is the only living Mursaat we know of ) and the last aspect he took was corrupted ( work of humans and an asura ) Also this were the last words from Lazarus before he vanished: “Countless generations will suffer for your actions this day!” I think he doesn’t see the difference between the races now, all are vermin that have to suffer from the actions in GW1.

Back to Scarlet. While most see the line that the thing in her mind that was walled off, is a prove that Sylvari are linked to Mordy they don’t see another line. “His notes say its purpose was to shut down the mind’s security system and open it—like opening a door—to welcome in the truths of the Eternal Alchemy. But our minds are protected for a reason
This one is interesting, he is saying that OUR minds are protected for a reason, not only the minds of the Sylvari. Well it could mean nothing, but it could also be a hint.

What if…

The Sylvari are to Mordremoth as the Undead are to Zhaitan…

That theory has been thrown around many times. The best reasoning may be that the Sylvari cannot be corrupted by other dragons – since they are already minions of another Dragon.

Problem is, other Dragon Minion can be corrupted by another Dragon, Sylvari can’t they just drop off dead if a dragon tries to corrupt them. The question is. Why can Mordremoth have influence over Scarlet, while other dragons can’t. They are not his minions by nature.

There are still enough questions about the Sylvari and the Dream and I think it has to do with the Dream, getting Mordremoth a hole in the Sylvari anti dragon firewall.
