If you just need a bigger bag, you have plenty of options for bigger storage that is relatively cheap. 18 slot bags are most likely ~2g, and if you like fractals you can get 20 slot bags “for free.”
If you just wanted it for nostalgia, I’m sorry to say, you are most likely out of luck. :/
Hmm thanks for that site, I may have a use for my 50-60k glory and ~600 skill points now.
I say do not attempt to convert karma to coin, because of how much more difficult it is to obtain karma now than prior to the September 2013 update. All karma should go towards obsidian shards, exotic backs from Orr, or T3 cultural weapon skins.
For converting skill points, this site is more accurate than the other one linked in that post:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0As-wCpIszrT9dFB3YjVUVFhfenlDUUpXTVBIdm5qWmc
Yeah, I made my “money” (or at least used my karma) back before the patch. Spent about 9 mil karma on orrian boxes, and left myself with 1 mil as a safety net. (If I recall I got ~10-15 of each lodestone and however much gold from the unidentified stuff). Even with the patch, I still get decent karma (made ~0.5-0.6 mil karma since the nerf and spent it all on spare oby shards for ascended armor if it’s needed).
It helps that I’ve been using a karma infusion since the patch and really only do world bosses/random running around in PvE for my daily/fractals (if I can find the time)/WvW (if I can find the time).
Also, that same thing counters your comment of having a negative effect on economy, again this wouldn’t effect it because I’ve still got the same amount of stacks, it’s not like if they increase the stack limit I will have more of them, I already have loads they are just taking up 30+ slots instead of one.
So I’m not really sure why this can’t be changed, again like I said in the first post the only reason I can think of why they wouldn’t do this is because they want people to buy bag slots and extra bank tabs. Because if your items are taking up less space then there is less chance you will buy a bank tab.
Well some people (at least I do) store up until I hit max then I’ll either
1) refine until that’s max
2) put it in an inventory slot and start storing again
3) sell any extra on the tp
So I can see how increasing the stack size could lower the supply (at least initially) and raising prices.
Around the anniversary data miners did find an item that would increase the stack limit in your bank by 250 (no clue if that was a one time use thing or if it was stackable). So, Anet did at least think about it. They are either waiting to implement it or have decided to scrap the idea for whatever reason.
Thing is that the Living Story with new content added every 2 weeks is a great idea, but also a bad idea.
Yes it gives you something new to do, but what happens if you take a break? You missed an event, and event you cannot do whenever you want to do, you are forced to play at the game’s speed of completing achievements within 2 week, because if you dont you’ve either have to wait a year or you’ll never get the chance to do it again.
It would be nice if the Living Story was something YOU read, not listen to, because if you miss a bit you may not get the future connections.
That’s why Anet also need to concentrate on expansions, not just the living story.
Honestly your first point is the reason I enjoy most of the recent LS events not taking too long to finish. I’m much happier it taking only ~6 hours per two weeks, instead of ~13+ hours like it was for the invasions.
As for read instead of listen, do you mean like the short stories they put out, or something different? To be fair, I completely forgot about the 2 NPCs from this event, until they said they knew me and said they haven’t seen me since dragon bash. While I still don’t remember them, at least they were someone I’ve met before.
You’re already doing the fastest money making method.
Champ farms > dungeons > world bosses.
This.
If you have lots of other currency, you can convert them to coin. See this guide for details:
http://gw2data.blogspot.com/2013/10/guild-wars-2-converting-your-currencies.html
Hmm thanks for that site, I may have a use for my 50-60k glory and ~600 skill points now.
Champ farms:D
I dont think that champion farming in Queensdale is the best method:)
My problem is that I´m not good enough for explorer mode in dungeons:D
Waiting for more answers:P
Technically the Frostgorge sound will give you more money, but that starts at lvl ~70-75.
There’s one other thing that can be faster, the current living story. Depending what the living story is, you may be able to zerg/solo money faster (see QG, QP, invasions).
Personally, I’m not endorsing champ farming (honestly, I really want it to get nerfed), but it is the fastest way to make gold.
Sorry for being naggy but apart from slot machine it to get a rare out of 4 greens i don’t come even near the mystic forge:
Upgrade a regular ascended ring in the Mystic Forge using 1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence, 3 Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence, and 5 Vials of Condensed Mists Essence.
So can i shove my ring with those 3 things and i’ll get instant +10 AR (15 Total per ring) and not lose my item for some useless thing, like that othes time (i still dream anet to unleash zomorous to do some nasty djin business, so i can smack him where it hurts, cheap kitten…)
Close, but not quite right.
A ring + 1 shard + 3 globs + 5 vials will give you ring (infused)
The stats stay the same, but now it has an inherent +5 AR. It will lose it’s current infusion, so you’ll have to buy another +5 AR infusion, to get a max +10 per ring.
As an aside (for completeness), <ring> and <ring (infused)> are considered separate unique items by the game. Thus if you have 2 of the same ring, you can infuse one of them to wear both. Not ideal, but that option exists.
I still say 1-2k for an accountbound bag once per account would have been a better approach. They’ve given us a soulbound 10-slot bag last year, a 15-slot back for wintersday, and a 20-slot bag for southsun (at least I think they were “free” I can’t quite remember).
They can do limited purchases (see the laurel merchant and the start mats), and they can do soul/accountbound bags (see last Halloween).
It would take candy corn out of the tp (because people would actually be able to afford it) and everyone gets something to remember this Halloween.
If I remember, last year they “sold” a 0 gem devil horn hat, gave us a witches hat, a 10-slot soulbound bag (remember the game had only been out for ~2 months and no fractals for “free” 20 slot bags, so it was still a nice gesture and useful to some), and let us get both versions of Mad Memories.
This year we got a free mini, a candy corn node, and the mask. And we have to buy the bag and another mini.
The candy corn node is great, but it would have been nice if there was less grind (or at least obtainable grind for those that really wanted it) for festive items.
Now you might want to sit down for this as it can be a bit of a shock,
Stun Breaker/Stability/Dodge
Don’t forget blind, block/aegis, evade, and invulnerable skills. And also ranged kiting.
i’m kinda wondering what class has it all ?
War has : stun breakers / stability / dodge / block / invulnerable skills ( sort off ) /….
Now give me a class that has good access to all of the things war has without sacrificing damage or survivability ? Cause war doesn’t sacrifice anything really
Think you might want to sit down yourself to find the answer ….
Well….just going by a quick wiki serach:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stun_break
Utility skills that break stun
Guards: 4
Wars: 5
Engi: 3
Ranger: 4
Thief: 5
Ele: 5
Mes: 6
Necro: 5
Skills with special conditions that break stun
Engi: 3
Traits that break stun
Guard: 1 aoe stun breaker
Also, every class can dodge.
Vigor:
War: with certain weapon
Ele: with certain weapon
Guard/Ranger/Necro: with utility
Eng: 3 tool belt skills
And every class besides necro has a trait that can apply vigor under some condition (usually when being crit. hit or removing some condition)
Stability: via utility
Guard: 2
Warrior: 3
Ranger: 1 (with grandmaster trait)
Ele: 1
Mes: 1
Necro: 1 (very conditional)
Stability: via elite
Wari: 1
Rang: 1
Eng: 2
Thief: 1
Ele: 1
Necro: 2
Human: 1
Special:
War: 1 (from elite banner)
Eng: 1 from tool belt
Traits:
Guard: 2
War: 2
Ele: 2
Necro: 1
Block: from weapons
Guard 2/2: (all/projectile)
War: 3
Egni: 1
Ranger: 1/1
Mes: 2
Healing:
Guard: 1
from Utility:
Guard 0/1
Thief: 1
Ele: 1
Mes: 1 (after getting with with a projectile)
Special conditions:
Guard: 1 from virtue
Engi: 2 tool belt
Invulnerable
Ele: 2
Engi: 1
Guard: 1
Mes: 1
Thief: 1
—-only direct damage—
War: 1
Ranger: 1 (for pet)
Stun from weapon
War: 1
Engi: 1
Ranger: 2 (if flanking)
Thief: 1
Ele: 2
Mes: 1
Elites:
engi: 1
Thief: 1
Utility:
Engi: 1
Mes: 1
Special
War: 2
Rang: 1
Thief: 1
Traits:
Mes: 2 (50% to cause stun when daze, 5% dam)
Ranger: 1 (longer stuns)
Ele: 2 (20% dam to stunned, stun breaker at 50% hp)
Engi: 1 (less damage while stuned)
War: 2 (+50% crit chance vs stun, break stun when >1 condi)
So there, pretty much every class has access to everything. (not saying you can have all of those things at once, but it’s available to all classes)
So, yeah, I’d argue that every class has access to dodge, stun breakers, and stability very easily. Others can also get vigor/block/invulnerable skills fairly easily too.
And don’t forget other professions have good access to stealth, regen, and protection. And others have access to higher burst damage or high condi burst. So….what is your point?
Try doing some 5vXs where X is any number greater than or equal to 15 and see how you think shield stance is after that. 1vX where X is greater than or equal to 3 also works.
Better yet, ask your support players how much they appreciate your shield stance.
Especially since now, blocking a field or AoE attacks counts against the max targets of 5.
You’re already doing the fastest money making method.
Champ farms > dungeons > world bosses.
I, surprisingly, had good luck with clovers and didn’t get many t6 mats. I’ve started promoting all the t5 mats I have stocked up for a small boost.
Also, while I don’t run any champ trains, I did get a lot of t6 mats (more than 2-3 weeks worth of my normal play) by running around in WvW after server reset. I’m still trying to decide if it’s worth spending my laurels on t6 mats.
Just a slight addition/edit to Endure Pain.
With 30 points into defense a warrior can also grab, Defy Pain (another 4s Endure Pain at 25% hp), but it doesn’t care how you get to 25%; if you’re already blocking and have conditions, it will activate and waste part of your block, same with if you use your own Endure Pain.
Another addition to defy pain: Defy Pain goes on cooldown when you use the Endure Pain skill. So if you want to use both, you have to wait for Defy Pain to proc, then use the Endure Pain skill afterwards. That makes Defy Pain extremely lackluster because often when Defy Pain procs you’re at 5-15% hp and conditions usually bring you down easily before Defy Pain wears off.
Woops, thanks. I never use Endure Pain because of that (plus for me 60s cd for 4s isn’t a great uptime).
They can also take Sure-Footed, an adapt level trait in defense to increase the duration of Endure Pain to 5 seconds. So it is possible for 10sec of Endure Pain, but it requires 2 traits (one adapt, one grandmaster), a utility skill, and good timing. And both of those are on 60 sec cd’s (and again requires the warrior to be at <25% hp, with no immunity to conditions).
I think with anything other than a full condition build, (healing, survivability….) you can get what you are looking for out of armor and runes. I would keep trinkets (jewelry) and weapons full berserker to boost your DPS output. So as Rapsody said above all ascended berserker weapons start with Zojja.
As a side note, getting your crafter to 500 is the worst part. Once you reach that getting the mats to craft the ascended weapons come pretty easy.
As for Empyreal Fragments, try parking alts at the jumping puzzles in Caledon Forrest. You get on average 7-9 per chest. I have 6 alts that I try to cycle through each day (Morgan’s Leap, Spekk’s Laboratory and Spelunker’s Delve). Once you get proficient at them you can do all three in about 10 mins per character if you leave them parked at one of them.
Lions Arch has 3 jumping puzzles that I think are easier than the Caledon ones. Trolls End can be frustrating at a few points, but I guess any of the JPs can become cake if you do them often enough.
You are correct the ones in LA are a little easier, but you seem to only get 2-4 per chest and then you wait till the next day. I would rather spend a few extra minutes and get 7-9 on each character.
The pirate one, which I consider really easy, gives in the 7-9 range. I’ve just parked an alt there to get it daily. I just need to send her out to clear her inventory every other week or so.
I used to run 4-7 jps daily, but since I got my ascended weapon it’s been piling up from the Clocktower/occasional fractal run. I’ll wait to see how much more I need after ascended armor comes out, if I have to start running more than 1 jp a day.
10 minute solo instance, Orr-like overhaul on Kessex Hills, RNG Black Lion chest weapon skins, 3 new armor skins ( Gemstore ), New healing skill, PVP Finisher, Tool-tip fixes with minimal balance changes.
Really? This disappoints you for a 2-week update? I mean really? Is this a troll attempt? They changed a giant section of a zone, added a solo instance complete with voice acting and new (albeit only slightly modified) enemies, a new healing skill, PvP finisher, weapon skins, armor skins, new events, new TYPE of monster (Elite).
I mean, OP……seriously?…..
Yep, plus yay free!
Sadly, no matter what happens some people will complain.
1) There is too much content to get done in 2 weeks/I don’t have time to do what I want
2) There isn’t enough to do, I finished everything in less than 1 day!
3) This is way too much grind/there is no substance (kill 300 of X, press “F” 100 times)
4) Why are things time gated, I want to get it all done now.
5) Nothing ever changes with the living story
6) The LS changed one of my favorite zones! (sorry to those this is true for)
7) I want more solo content
8) I want more 5 man/dungeon/instanced content
9) I want more 10+ man content (not zerg)
10) I want more zerg content
11) I want what I’m doing to be profitable or there is no point in doing it
12) Content is too hard/dull/boring
13) Content is too easy/dull/boring
I could go on.
I mean sure, I’ve felt some of those ways about previous LS updates. But I am happy when there are shorter LS updates. (Do people remember the 13-15 hours required to do everything for the clockwork invasions, and having to wait for the 1 random map you were missing, which would only spawn 1/day if you were lucky).
I mean I am more than happy with what I’ve paid for this game, the LS may not be the best every 2 weeks, but I’ll take it as a free content patch and be happy with it. If I don’t like it, I can go back to what I enjoy doing in the game, and be none the worse for wear.
Well you can always get the materials to infuse your rings along the way from a drop. Besides that, everything else is either laurels, WvW badges & laurels, or guild commendations, or ascended weapon crafting.
Here’s hoping it is a Margonite, and that it will lead somewhere good (a new zone, either the undying ocean or the desert, are my hopes)….er not in this patch (I know it won’t happen this year) but I would be happy if it was set up now.
(edited by Wallace MacBix.2089)
As a side note, some of us warriors would rather adrenaline be used up on a missed (or blinded) burst attack. It would make cleansing ire useful on more weapons.
Also bringing food & runes into the equation make the argument moot, as any class has access to the same food & rune items.
Edit: Also, technically banners are blast finishers too, if I recall (both on summon and with #5). And so is stomp.
Sorry to necro this but, my main character has already 2 rings, lately i’ve had a drop of a ring (bank) and now managed to sum up 10 Pristine Relics which i believe can only be exchanged for Rings.
So i have 2 Rings (sort of, still haven’t exchanged the 10 relics) so i guess the only possible thing to do is to soulbound them to an Alt, but then even by having the both rings head-start and thus 10AR, even though my alt can do lvl10+ fractals, he will start personal reward from the start?
Yes, if your alt never went into fractals before, then he will start at personal reward level 1.
Thanks guys.
I suppose I will have to buy them off TP or wait for Arenanet to make that event again then.
While it’s assumed that you can mine quartz again when the Bazaar comes back, no one knows if you’ll be able to get the quartz node, though I’d lean towards a no.
That’s disappointing. I guess we can expect to need lots of those materials for ascended armors.
Most likely 50 silk bolts or 50 leather per day for the time gated 1/day materials.
…aaand Anet decided to make situation even worse by increasing refinement cost for t5 cloth and leather. This time i can’t even guess what they were thinking.
Try to make a dent in the very wealthy by screwing over most casual players?
I’m just happy I randomly refined my silk the other day. Too bad, I didn’t refine my leather too :/
I would hope arena tone down on the amount of chores we need to do like gathering different types of mats for ascended crafting these leaves us no time for other stuff.
It has come to a point where I just do my daily as a bare-minimum and then I log out.
As I am getting tired of the amount of running about over the same map to in big circles. It’s BORING ! As we have to do it over and over and over and over again.
What you find boring, other people enjoy. Also if you just do the bare minimum and log out, how is your suggestion going to make you stay logged in. You could just do what you enjoy, and work on an ascended weapon in your spare time.
Too much repetitive activities will make people give up on this game.
Sadly, this is an MMO.
For example the dragonite ore quantity needs to be increased. As not all the time people will be doing temple / world bosses (only 3-5 rewarded) too little.
And the people who don’t like dungeons had to struggle to get their fragments
After all the work on weeks of gathering. the stats we get from the crafted ascended is such a small increment from exotic.
It should be 0 (and for some builds it basically is). There never should have been a power creep in this game, however small. Gw1 is still going 7-8 years without a single level cap increase or higher gear stats. It was advertised before launch that gw2 was going to be casual friendly, and that you could leave and come back and not be behind in best in stats gear.
Besides, if you realize it’s such a small increase (~6-13% extra damage), and you feel it isn’t worth your time to get the mats, then don’t. Do what you enjoy instead.
This game needs to be a more than just skins or jumping puzzles (which I do not like).
That was the point of this game. To be a grind for cosmetics, horizontal progression over vertical.
Most of the annoying contents people just want to get it over with and never want to see it again. This means its a pain for people to do it. So why create a content like that ?
I have skipped SAB 1 and 2. completely.
And yet there are many, many people who love SAB. The nice thing about the LS is that if you don’t like a patch you can ignore it and in 2 weeks you’ll have something new to try.
Also the cooldowns need to be reduced for all PVE. Please do not mix pvp and pve. For this reason, I will never do pvp or wvw as it ruins one or the other if you try to balance them all.
The longest cd (off the top of my head) are the norn racial transformations at 4min (I thought they got reduced a while back, but I’m going by the wiki). Besides that most long cd skills are 1-2min (a few are 3 min) tops. If you think that is too long, don’t use those skills.
And by “not mixing” do you mean just remove WvW because essentially that’s what it is. Which if you don’t like you can safely ignore. And I don’t really understand your reasoning on why you choose to ignore PvP and WvW. If you don’t like it that’s fine, but you won’t do it because you don’t want a build in one of those modes to be nerfed (at least that’s the only logic I could find in your statement).
Yeah.. it is more cooking and jewel crafting that I want to sell the stuff from.. but really just can’t do it since I don’t want to buy it all back in a month or 2 at a higher price. If I knew that it would be later next year then I would sell it and not worry about building it back up. Just leaving us hanging like this is not fun!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
We’ll expand all crafting professions to allow them to reach a new milestone: 500 points!
Thats all we know.
Last we’ve heard is that they will introduce is by the end of the year.
I have two thoughts on that, it will either happen in Dec (along with new skills/traits) this way it doesn’t effect WvW season 1 balance.
Or, they have decided to hold off (or at least rethink) ascended armor after most of the backlash from ascended weapons.
Both of those are just wild speculation though. The last official word was back in June which said “by the end of the year.”
I see you mistook me as a dungeon runner, I am not. I still haven’t run each path once, and maybe I’ve done CoF Path 1, 4 times since the game came out. I hate dungeons, but I love fractals.
There are plenty of different options to make fractals more viable.
1) make it so you can’t skip 75%+ of the mobs in dungeons,
2) provide an extra incentive at the end of each fractal (gold, loot, whatever)
3) make pristine and normal fractal relics more useful (let us buy all ascended items with them)
4) give us a use for ascended rings (let us salvage them, or mystic forge them into other trinkets)
I’d rather have any of those options than be forced to run a dungeon path instead of even dredge at lvl 28. And while I don’t claim to be great at fractals (only lvl 27, as I haven’t had too much time to commit to them in a long time), I’ve had plenty of dredge runs that went very smoothly at 20+ (and plenty that didn’t).
Edit: And like I said, dev’s have commented saying that they are looking at fractal balance, and we should have something like that by the end of the year.
I’d have to disagree. If I wanted to run a dungeon path, I’d run a dungeon path. Plus what happens if someone says “oh, I already ran this path and got my daily rewards, lets reroll.”
But you are right, some of the fractals last considerably longer than others. I’d prefer having each fractal get additional rewards based on it’s difficulty. If I recall, I think Anet said that they are working on making the fractals either more uniform in difficulty/time or that we won’t get shafted with 3 long fractals in a row. But I don’t think that will happen until the new fractals are introduced later this year.
This was wierd to me as well. I know people tend to lower their expectations to prevent any disappointments but this is really a big NOTHING. Nothing new added to the game, no rebalancing done? I was thinking maybe they’re saving that info as a suprise but I’m not sure if that’s giving them too much credit. Well, we’ll see soon enough.
They’ve stated that they aren’t going to do any rebalancing during WvW season 1 (technically, they said that they won’t do anything to effect WvW balance besides patch bugs, but I’d say rebalancing would effect WvW). So I wouldn’t except any additional skills/traits (or another big skills patch) until December.
However according to the wiki they also appear in the Sanctum Sprint end chest. Can anyone confirm if that’s still the case?
Hmm, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten any quartz from the chest at the end (at least since the Bazaar left).
Hmm I only have an ele alt, so there are others who are more informed, but I’m making my staff ele into a healer/support character. (If I recall, I’m planning on using 0/10/0/30/30, but again I have no clue if that’s good or not, just what I felt like doing with him)
I’d say it really matters what you want to do with him. You can check out some ele builds that use staffs and see which one you like more, and then go for a weapon that complements that.
Aside from that, I can also tell you this. Even if you play occasionally, the big cost comes from getting to 500 crafting. After that the more expensive/harder things to get an ascended weapon are
30 oby shards for the vision crystal
10 Glob of Dark Matter
9 Spiritwood Planks, 3 Deldrimor Steel Ingot (so 9 days of time gated stuff or money for buying them off the tp)
Possibly getting 500 of one of the following dusk/ore/fragments
So, you’re right, if you only play occasionally it would take a while to make a second, but it’s a bigger investment to get to 500 crafting. Not saying you should make one randomly without any thought, but just that it wouldn’t be impossible to make a second.
The only way I’m sure of is to buy them off the tp.
You may have another way though. Again, I’m not 100% that this will work, but if you have a friend who has the quartz node in his personal instance, go into it with him and you may be able to mine his.
It would be really nice if this could be implemented for all classes.
GW had four weapon setups that could be rotated by pressing F1-F4 while out of combat, provided that the registered weapons were in your inventory, and it would equip the new weps and store the old ones automatically.
So many QoL things in GW that would be really nice brought forward.
You could swap them anytime you wanted, not just out of combat. Actually there were many builds that utilized two weapon sets or even 3 in the case of casters.
(assassin’s with back-breaker for example)
He means that in gw1 you could have 4 (possibly more, hard to remember) different weapon sets, triggered with F1-F4. You could do that in or out of combat. They are asking for something similar for all professions (ele specifically since they can only have 1 weapon set) to let people change their weapons “on the fly” (without having to go into the hero tab) whenever they are out of combat.
They aren’t talking about switching weapons to their alternate set while in combat.
It’s already a fail on Anet’s part that players had to guess/extrapolate when the event was going to end.
Yeah. Cause a track record of every single edition of LS being two weeks made it a big secret how long it would last this time………….
Ummm if I recall:
SAB lasted a month
The Secret of Southsun lasted a month
Dragon Bash lasted a month
Bazaar of the four winds lasted a month
Queen’s Jubilee lasted a month
SAB: back to school lasted a month
Blood and Madness is going to last a month
if you look at the release page, that’s every other LS (with the exception of them having both Teq rising and Twilight Assault both lasting 2 weeks and then Blood and Madness lasting 4). So everyone here who didn’t manage to get the meta because they assumed it would be around for 4 weeks were going over the “established” pattern.
Plus it doesn’t help that one of the last (if not the last) daily reward was to make a key, which didn’t register for many people (I know it didn’t work for myself and a friend).
I’m at 154 from luck, and it increses pretty slow up here. It takes 126350 to go from 150 to 160 which is more than it takes to go all the way from 0 to 100. I’d like to know if anyone even passed 200 yet.
Some people have already maxed it, or so I’m told.
I wish there was a way to see how much money you’ve spent on salvaging items (instead of merching them) compared to how long it’ll take for your MF to give that money back.
Sigh, I just want my old MF number back.
If I’m not mistaken, can’t you strafe backwards by using “s” + “d” + right mouse button held down?
If I recall, it is pretty slow, and I’d always just dodge roll back instead, but I think the option is there.
yes lets remove this OP weapon with its long cool downs and slow cast time.
7.5sec earthshakers a long cooldown now?
hammer isnt op , but come on man x.x
Well without vigor or any other endurance gain, you can dodge every 10 seconds.
Besides, 12s,12s,20s,30s (untraited) isn’t exactly that short either. I believe that’s the point he was going for.
Only thing I’d like on shield is to gain a strike of adrenaline per block. Seems odd to be actively defending in the heat of battle and not get some manner of adrenaline rush. I’d even be happy if they allowed adrenaline gain via Cleansing Ire, since you are getting hit when they smack your shield.
Well you can at least gain might while blocking
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mighty_Defenses
But I agree with Cleansing Ire granting adrenaline on a block (the same way stealth should end if their attack is blocked).
Dungeons and Fractals are where it becomes interesting and where the difference starts to be significant.
Don’t forget world bosses. Even with only 10-20 people attacking something it has constant max stacks and yet you only see 1-2 tics of your own conditions.
Totally overlooked the Legendary question.
I’ve been playing since launch, and I’m still not thinking seriously about making a Legendary, largely because of the massive cost for the precursor. (A “precursor” is player slang for a specific weapon you need to make a Legendary; basically the base you transform/upgrade.) They’re extremely rare, extremely expensive, and I agree that they’re the most limiting factor.
I wouldn’t worry about ascended gear at this stage, either; there’s plenty of time to learn about that once you’re level 80. As for buying equipment on the Trading Post, I wouldn’t recommend it until you’re near the endgame. It’s just not worth the time and hassle, when you can get so much level-appropriate gear from karma vendors.
Even without the precursor costs, a legendary still requires a ton of grind/money. It is no different from any ascended weapon that you can craft (with the exception that it can change stats when out of combat), so it’s just a very expensive skin. Then “easiest” things for it are getting 1 mil karma, the 500 dungeon tokens, and the 100 base gold required (icy lodestones). Everything else will either cost a lot to buy, or will take a long time to grind.
As for ascended weapons, don’t worry about them that much. They give ~6-13% damage increase, and while that’s noticeable, you don’t need to rush to get there. Exotic (or even rares) will serve you well as you save up. And sadly, they’re a bit of a grind to get (and most of us assume the same will be with ascended armor).
But if you want to get a head start, just mine/chop everything you see.
I crafted both armor smithing and weapon smithing at the same time while leveling my main. But the only way I was able to keep up with the mats was to clean all of the zones of a given level (do all 1-15 level zones first because I needed copper, etc.), and it seemed my crafting was always behind my actual level (so I rarely was able to craft something better than what dropped). I didn’t mind it that much though. I relied mostly on drops and karma merchants to gear up my main. But when it caught up, I did end of crafting my rare and then exotic armor/weapons.
For my alts, I force them to go around in whatever they can get from drops/heart vendors. And really, you aren’t forced to keep your gear “up to par”. I was using a lvl 20 axe on my ranger at lvl ~65 or so, until one finally dropped for him. And on my necro I realized I was using armor 20+ levels behind when a random item dropped for her. (Mind you that’s all for just normal PvE, if you want to run dungeons, it’s preferred to have the best gear you can at the time).
Another free alternative (if very open to chance). When you get to lvl 40+ (could be 45) every world boss that you help kill will give at least 1 rare item to you at your level. If you like the world boss encounters, it’s a good way to get rares, and can be a “free” way to outfit yourself.
Also, if you do your dailies now, you can save up laurels to get ascended tier trinkets when you get to 80.
Technically the “cheapest” way to get things are as follows:
Rings: from the Fractals of the Mist dungeon (any even lvl at 10+ has a chance to drop a ring 1/day, and you get 1 pristine fractal relic per day, and you can always buy the ring you want for 10 pristine fractal relic)
Amulets: If you have WvW badges you can get them for less laurels from the WvW merchant.
Earrings: If you are part of a decent sized guild you get can ascended earrings with guild commendations.
Otherwise, you can get rings/amulets/earrings all with laurels (and ectos, a high level crafting ingredient, for earrings).
My poor progress towards my legendary (gifts that require 250 refined mats, t6 mats being eaten up leveling to 500, etc.), unless you can eventually turn an ascended weapon into a precursor ascended crafting does (at least temporarily) eat up a good amount of mats you would use in a legendary.
I do not support this suggestion.
Conditions are part of the combat mechanic and therefore when you have a condition you are in combat until the condition expires either on its own or by you removing it.
What’s the point of them lingering on you after the enemy is dead? Remember, I’m saying the conditions shouldn’t keep you in combat once the person that cast it on you is dead. There is no challenge or compelling gameplay in waiting for a condition to be gone/waiting for your dispel to come off CD for your hp to regen between pulls. It just makes me alt tab and do something else while I wait for it to expire.
So if someone hits you with a condition in WvW or PvP you just want it to magically go away when you kill them? Why should you be able to fully heal before his buddy is able to get to you? Even if you are just talking about PvE the same argument can stand. If you’re at 100 hp and just manage to kill your enemy as be puts poison or bleed on you, why shouldn’t you get downed with him.
if gem store sux so much why is than 1g = 14gems :p
yeah because you can really really buy something with 14 gems -_-
a fair one would be 1G=100GEM but then again, allot of farmers and greedy richy rich holes love to biaaach about how expensive it should be instead of how it REALLY should be.
That’s his point. Last year it was roughly 1g == ~120 gems. And last Sept or so, it was 1g for ~240 gems (really glad I got all my bank tabs back then). If people didn’t farm the game so much for gold to convert to gems, the rate would be a lot better.
Honestly, I’m thankful the system is the way it is for the most part. I already bought this game, I don’t want to have to pay a fee anytime I want something cool.
I find that the gem store doesn’t have enough utility items. I pvp and wvw. My goal would be to use the store to avoid about 90% of PvE. Surprised you can’t buy levels frankly. Would love an alt but the thought of PvEing another is blah.
You can if you have a ton of money to burn.
Option 1) Gems—> gold and then craft, it will get you most of the way.
Option 2) Black lion keys/chests, they give out tomes of knowledge if I recall. And those give 1 level per. But the drop rate is tiny, so don’t expect to get many that way.
Actually the fight is not over till the last condition is cleared. Just hit your condition remover if you cannot wait it out. There have been a few fights where the mob was dead but I was left watching my heal and condition remover refresh timers countdown and hoping one or the other refreshed before the last of my health burned away. Good times.
That’s my point, the fight should be over when the enemy dies and your hp should regen rather than forcing you to watch as timers tick down.
Then you are missing the point of conditions. Besides, wouldn’t this further trivialize some dungeon content (oh, you’re in a poison field, but you’re not in combat, so we’ll just keep on running past all of the enemies trying to catch you)
No thanks, I would like an F2 skill for a 2nd adrenaline skill for 2 handers (or one for our off hands).
1) End game is the same as back then, with a couple of slight exceptions.
Fractals of the Mist were added last Dec. You do 3 (or 4) mini dungeons at a time, and your “person reward level” goes up. At higher levels the enemies get harder (have more hp and hit harder), and at 10+ you need to have ascended trinkets/weapons to get “agony resistance” to avoid a debuff the bosses use.
They also replaced a path from the TA dungeon with a new lvl 80 path (it has 3 puzzles and 3 bosses).
They also changed the Teq boss to now require 80-120 people organized via teamspeak to be able to kill it.
2) I don’t know what you mean by that, but I’ve never had trouble with no people inside one of the PvE activities (assuming we’re talking about the mini games).
3) No clue.
4) Check the engi notes from the past couple of patches. I don’t play one, but I remember reading that the turrets now focusing on whatever thing you have targeted.
5) No new skills. They are adding a new healing skill to all professions on Tuesday, and many people have been complaining since it was announced. (Still we are scheduled to get new skills/traits by the end of the year).
6) Yes, and no. Their hp was buffed x2-x4 and a 15min timer was added (30 for claw), and the rewards were not increased to compensate. It may depend on the server, but you may have trouble finding people to do them at off peak hours. Most can be killed by ~5 or so people within the timer though.
7) Events are the same that they were, but I don’t know what you mean by them being bad. Also more daily options were added in.
Obviously we don’t want Tequatl to go back to a situation where he was soloable, or even 5-mannable (he IS a Dragon Champion, after all), but if Tequatl was beatable by, say, 10 – 20 people who know what to do, I think that should be allowed.
Honestly, I would prefer him to go back to the way he was (and for a lesser extent the rest of the bosses too).
All of the timers are a silly way to enforce a dps check. Why should people playing at off hours not be allowed to kill the world bosses? If that means a person ends so, solo’ing a world boss, so be it. Since champs started dropping bags, that has been the best way to make money (besides tp flipping). The world boss x2-x4 hp increase just hurts that even more, and combined with the timer means that they will/can fail now. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new mechanics introduced (wurm being able to heal, golem with his electricity), but the extra hp and a timer were a bit of a slap in the face compared to the champ train that keeps on chugging.
To be fair, if Teq scaled to be doable by ~10 people, I’d been fine with that. Honestly, I’ve been saying something similar since it came out. There’s no reason you need to have 80-120+ people on teamspeak, with 30+ minutes of organization to kill a boss, who drops very sub-par loot (at least he used to, don’t know how good it is now that they’ve been “increased”).
http://gw2dragons.com/dragons/leaderboard
There’s a website that keeps track of how many times he’s been down by each server. Sure, Desolation most likely kills him a couple of times a day, but look at the rest of the servers. Even on servers with “very high” population he’s been killed <20 times. Then remember that only ~150 or so people can fit on each map versus the millions of people who own gw2. There’s no reason for content like this to exist.
