Hey!
Thanks for your feedback. It is very welcome to see players contribute to the game.
Maybe I can use this moment for some feedback to you. I totally understand that you do not know everything in the game, but before posting, maybe try to do a lil bit research bout the subject your writing about.
In this specific case, the wiki is very helpfull: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wardrobe#Locked_and_Unlocked_Skins
You can also directly go to the wiki by using a chat command in game:
If you type /wiki Wardrobe in the chat window, your browser will automatically open on the corresponding wiki page.

I agree. There is no reason to not add dueling and mounts other than, “I don’t want it, so I absolutely don’t want others to have it ever.”
I just dont want you to have it.
I already have mounts and duelling.

Well that was a slap in a face. Thanks.
If you put gear into forge, you unlock the skin anyways.

You must be pro because i never get invited to pve tournaments…
Yes you do you would just fail horribly, check the dungeon forums. Gems and such to be won, sponsored by Anet.
And did any ranger team compete and lose horribly?
Edit: Gonna lets this being moved ot the ranger forum, so i dont have to see it here.

I’d say you’re making up numbers, because you don’t know the top 20% and can’t prove it’s 20%. And I still maintain there are professions that have as much right to complain that aren’t being played as often as ranger. Why is that less meaningful?
Oh joyousness, I can actually prove it. That’s what this all about. There are regular PvE and PvP tournaments officially held by Arena Net. Do you want me to pull the ranger numbers for the past 12 months? Cuz you will be severely disappointed.

Tormenting might go up a bit, with Torment being the lovechild Condition of the Revenant.
Tormenting (runes and sigils) are crafted though so their ingredients also must rise in price. Thats why crafted ones usually dont see that much of a spike compared to runes and sigils that are only obtained through rng, like upgrading rare ones in the forge or salvagedfrom exotic drops.
In fact, I expect alot of expensive runes and sigils to tank in price once HoT goes live, as Anet confirmed that exotic wvw gear will be salvageable with HoT, returning the upgrade component and some badges of honor.

Good post for new players, who wish to get asc gear.
Technically, it would be cheaper to craft asc nomad (ventari) than sinister (verata) but only by about 40s per inscription/insignia.
Will be interesting to see, if demand from ftp players will be enough to bring some movement into the markets for sheets of (charged) ambrite or quartz/watchwork sprockets.

I am looking more at it as an open beta for new event structures and mob mechanics they want to introduce in HoT. So i expect it to be quite buggy or they are just doing it to collect data.
Anyways, if they expect it to be buggy and in beta stage, I also wouldnt announce it as 2 week long content because they would have to deliver a good product, which would mean sevewral hotfixes over the next week or two. If they just run it for a weekend, they probably will have enough data and can work on fixing the bugs and implementing changes off line.

Who’s bright idea was it to exclude half of the crafters from being able to make Tempered Spinal Blades? I’ve literally wasted my time farming dust since champ trains are dead to make the Bloodstone Bricks only to find out that I’m SOL because some designer dropped the ball on every other profession except Armorsmith/Tailor/LW’s. Either make Gift of Blades BOE, come up with versions of it for other Professions, make it available for Laurels/Spirit Shards.
Not cool at all.
Its account bound after crafting it.
And if you craft it with LW, you save about 180g compared to crafting it with tailor as elonian leather is 12g cheaper than bolts of damask and you need 15 of it.
LEveling leatherworker from 0-500 costs about 85g.

There is a constant lag of Trading Post UI throughout last month or two – it started with some of the updates. I am pretty sure it is a general issue for everyone as I have personally asked some people in guild and friends – they all suffer from this. Also I am pretty sure devs are aware of this issue as it is actually hard to miss out if you open the Trading Post at least once and try to do something.
It lags horribly when you are, for example, trying to enter a price right after opening an item popup – it just doesn’t let you or changes a random value (for example gold instead of copper). It also lags a lot more generally – while opening Trading Post itself, different categories or scrolling through lists of goods.
And I can certainly say that I am playing on a good connection/hardware which is more than enough to run the game on ~10-20 ms latency and 60 fps on max settings. So those lags are probably something indifferent to your network/PC setup.
The hitbox issues for G/S/C values are being worked on, lets hope they are aware of the lag issues as well.

Promoting regular t5 fine mats (claws, fangs, bloods etc.) usually yields less t6 than promoting t5 into t6 dust.
I think its between 5-9 for regular mats and 5-40 for dust.
Your sample size is quite small and you got lucky a couple of days ago and today you didnt. Thats RNG.
Everybody experiences this.

With the price of runes it’s easier just to overwrite the runes and take the loss than buying an extractor with gold to gem conversion. Due to this i’ve never to this day bought one because if i wanted to switch runes on gear i’d have to buy six of them for the full set. They can still keep the single use one on the gem store. My point was peoples suggestions for runes in other threads just changed the way runes would work and are probably unlikely for anet to do. Even if they reduced the price of the single use extractors they would probably find more people would buy them (and increase their profita)
But if it was cheaper to convert gold into gems to buy an extractor instead of buying a new rune or sigil on the TP, everybody would do it and two things would happen:
The gold/gem ratio would rise and the prices for the runes on the tp would fall until its cheaper again, to just buy a new rune instead of getting an extractor.

Any remotest, faintest, slightest possibility of it showing up as an item that I can purchase during this anniversary sale?
No.
Bunny Ears were never released as an armor skin an Anet since stated they will only release outfits in the gem store from now on, no armor skins.
Pretty sure they meant full armor sets. They have released quite a many hats and a couple sets of shoulders and gloves.
They didnt introduce any new armor pieces after they made the announcement in a blog post, only to offer outfits from now on in the gem store.

Some people were saying this about The Bifrost last night at PoI. Personally i doubt that many thieves want that staff to make it’s price rise much more steeply than the others’.
Why not? Plenty of them using rainbow shortbow and clown pistol already, might as well get the rainbow staff too!
The rocket it ready to roll……. ready to pay an insane amount of gold for The Legend……in fact, it should hit 5000k gold before October 23rd. I predict…..
I´ll wager 1 Legend that it wont.
I would love to take you on that wager, but I don’t think you even are serious about it. And I do not want to get The Legend any other way than ingame, either I get really lucky with a dungeon chest or The Mystic Toilet decided that it is time for me to get another pre-cursor after hours and hours of greens and blues.. and some occasional yellow. So far, the mystic toilet have gave me 2 pres and I got most useless pre from a dungeon chest during year 1.
I am dead serious.
And dont worry, you wont get a legend from me because 5 million gold for 1 precursor will never happen. Even if you mean 5k instead 5000k gold, i would still take that bet.I was just exaggerating on the 5000k gold. :P
It’s just to show that pre-cursors like The Legend is going up insanely and the drop rates is so very low, it is impossible to get it by any other means other than dropping tons of rare staff into the toilet bowl…..
And now with Thieves getting staff…… the price is going to be even more insane!!!
Don’t worry, I really won’t take you up on the wager, as I also don’t think it will go up to 1million gold. But 5k gold is rather a realistic amount though….
For precursors to reach 5k gold, rare lvl 80 weapons need to hit a price point of over 3g, exotic weapons over 10g, which means all the mats involved in crafting them will need a high price spike as well.
Its not gonna happen, at least not until HoT.

It seems fairly likely that one of the new legendary weapons will be a staff since now almost every class in the game can use one. 2 elite specs are getting staff, i’d say there is an 70% chance the first new legendary is a staff…
They’re replacing the ones like moot, dreamer, and quip first.
On another note, prices for other things have risen while others have fallen since June.
Oh just saw your edit, was gonna ask that.
However, i think legendaries are incredibly stable in price because so much different mats and currencies go in it, so it doesnt matter too much, if one mat spikes by 50%.
I also wonder why you chose june as point of reference.
Edit: somehow i could only see your edit with the dates (top 16th of june and bottom today) when i replied but it doesnt seem to be on the main thread.

I think it’s worth bearing in mind precursor prices dropped significantly after it was announced that it would be possible to craft them in HoT. What we’re seeing might just be the prices going back up after the panic selling.
Similar situation with Elder wood, when everyone was farming Firefox clusters the price dropped, now there’s less farming so the price is going back up.
I dont think the HoT announcement had much to do with precursor prices going down in january. It had more to do with cheap t5 snowflakes flooding the market, making forging precursors very profitable during wintersday. If the HoT announcement was the trigger, i would assume pre prices going further down the closer we got to release, which wasnt the case. The popular pres all gained 30-50% in value since march.
The legend has definately seen the highest inflation but that is mostly due to the high elder wood cost and as mentioned by somebody else, staff is a popular weapon wielded by many classes.
Concerning crafting costs for a rare staff, you need 10 elder planks, 6 mithril ingots and 15 t5 mats.
In March, when the Legend was cheapest this year, it cost ~900g, now its ~1350g, so 50% more.
In march you paid 1.2s for an elder plank, 1.1s for mithril ingots and 1.7s for t5 mats.
1.2s x 10= 12s (27% of the overall value)
1.1s x 6= 6.6s
1.7s x 15= 25.5s
Now you pay:
Elder 3s x 10= 30s (48% of the overall value)
Mithril 1.2s x 6= 7.2s
t5 mats: 1.7s x 15s= 25.5s
Overall the crafting cost of a rare staff went from 44s to 63s, so also nearly 50%.
Those extra costs came nearly exclusively from elder wood.
Anet didnt nerf elder wood faucets, the player base simply stopped farming it enough.
Since there has been a lack of new content in the past 6 months, many player simply stopped playing or are leveling alts, which doesnt yield much elder wood.
At the end of June, when the new balance patch went live, many players went shortly back to their mains, to craft their new builds and try them out in lvl 80 content, which shortly injected some t5 fine mats, elder wood and mithril but that has ebbed down weeks ago.
Beta weekends also take a big regular mat faucet out of the game, as many players are on their beta accounts and dont farm mats for the regular market.

The legend suffered more than other precursors under the price rise of elder wood, which gained about 50% in value in the last 2 months, as you need 10 planks per rare staff.
Rare staves are already spiking over 1g, so the high price of the legend is just a reflection of that, it has just become very expensive to forge.
There is also a dwindling player base, except maybe during beta weekends but any precursors dropped there, wont make it on the market, so there arent many legends being acquired through loot drops but with no significant game updates for over half a year, people find less new opportunities to spend their gold on, so precursor price is rising.

Read our lips anet: character slots.
Any slots we got from buying HOT in the presale have long since been used.
They stopped putting account upgrades on sale for over half a year now, except in bundles. I dont think they will start with it now.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Why have doubloons not been given their own slots in the mat storage yet?
Because they are categorised as upgrade components and not crafting materials.
Yes, but things such as opal orbs, ruby shards, sapphire crystals, etc. are also upgrade components (as well as being crafting materials). Surely they could find a way to have doubloons work the same as those.
I never said the3y shouldnt be put into the mat storage, i just said why they arent.
Give them a slot in the mat storage for all i care.
However, this will raise their price on the tp, as people will simply deposit and forget about them instead of selling/listing them immediately. so new supply listed on the tp will dry up for quite some time.Don’t talk nonsense.. that is a flat out silly theory for price inflation.
Doubloons fall under the same category as jewels and other dual purpose items, but I don’t see those items being affected because they have a storage slot… other factors within the game itself affect price fluctuations not where they are stored.I would hazard a guess most players will of tried to max out their storage of materials before pushing everything to the TP anyways especially the more useful stuff.
Simple fact is it’s just another example of lazy coding that could and should be altered.
Well, first you say im silly and then you agree with me.
People would deposit doubloons, which they would otherwise have put on the market.
Less supply being available on the tp while demand stays the same, means prices would go up.

Craft any / acquire any ascended item
step 2 convert to zealots

The exotic insignia is the most expensive part.
Zealot is the exotic name anyways, the asc is called keepers. I guess you want to make exotic gear, in which case the mf recipe for changing stats doesnt work.
If you want to craft exotic gear, you have to buy the recipes for the insignia/inscription and each gear piece from the tp, as they dotn drop anymore. I expect Anet to reintroduce the recipes at some point but i wouldnt wager on them doing it before HoT releases. All you need is the exo insignia, the recipe still exist to create it.
So unless Anet goofed really hard, the conversion should still work.
The OP asked about the exotic gear (zealot), not the ascended gear (keeper). I guess its the 33g price tag for the exo insignia recipe that he isnt chuffed about.

Do you honestly call something you can sell on the TP for 30 gold useless???
#firstworldproblems
I do. Granted, Anet has pulled off the same stunt several times before, but if they hand out dye kits, why not just give 30g to everyone?
Because selling a dye on the tp for 30g doesnt create new gold, in fact, it acts as a gold sink with paid fees and taxes.
Giving 30g directly to each player would be a huge gold faucet, only adding to inflation.I quite honestly don’t care about the big economic impact, just like anet does not give a rusty cent about the consequences of their actions either.

Nope, all runes unlocked.
Then my guess is you havent unlocked two of the exotic insignia recipe sheets that arent obtained via karma but other means.
Celestial and Zealot (only available from tp atm), sinister and nomad (from geode/crest vendor) and settler (from karka queen).
But as others mentioned, at lvl 434, you should discover a couple of exotic armor in order to reach lvl 450.
Those missing 50 recipes with ectos are either quite expensive (leveling gear) or are from locked recipes learned via sheets, so they wont give any discovery exp anyways.

I am a level 434 Leatherworker. I have used my discovery tab to discover every possible recipe with the components I have. However, it still shows 50 possible recipes that can be discovered using ectoplasm. I have stacks and stacks of all other materials, including some mats required for ascended crafting. Granted, I still haven’t done any ascended crafting, but nowhere on the wiki or anywhere else does it show 50 ascended recipes requiring ectos. Can anybody please help me figure out what these 50 locked recipes are?
My bet would be the leveling armor sets crafted with ineffable insignias. which, beside the insignia, also require various amounts of ectos, depending on which insignia is used.

I don’t know how often Spidy updates, but I’d swear I see coins above 15 silver a couple of days ago. Could have just been a blip I suppose.
I flushed the toilet 22 times last night and only got clovers twice.
Spidy doesn’t update as often as gw2tp and it’s had some hiccups. So what you see on the TP, what gw2tp reports, and what spidy reports can be different. The main thing that spidy has is data from 2013, which I don’t have access to from other sources.
So, spidy might not be the best source for certain things, but it’s the only one that allows for an apples:apples comparison of historical prices. It was also the original source for the claim that there is a crisis, so it’s a good choice in terms of showing evidence to the contrary.
gw2tp has full history since aug 26th 2012 but it only loads the graph for the last 6 months by default.
If you want to see all data, click on “Full History” on top of the price chart.
The screenshot i posted earlier, had the full history loaded but i guess you didnt care to check. Thanks for the tip — I never noticed the “Full History” button. I always assumed that clicking the “All” next to D|W|M|All would, you know, load “all” the data. I feel silly for not having figured out that the “all” button only meant “six months.”
I realize now it’s an insufficient justification to point only to spidy for the overall discussion.
However, since that was the source of the OP’s post (and presumably the subsequent post restarting the thread), the spidy:spidy comparison still demonstrates my overall point, that there wasn’t any data backing up the claim that there is a crisis.
Yeah, i was wondering why would point to spidy even though it gives the less accurate date over time.
However, even spidy shows a bigger spike three months ago compared to the current one, which is receding anyways.
