FEEL THE STRENGTH OF THE EARTH
Vicodium – Ranger (IX) Coldsnap
I’ve always imagined that Elementalists would be the hardest to play since they’re based on stance dancing.
Also, Engineers seem like they’d require some extension of difficulty, though these are just my speculations.
So, I managed to get a picture in the little time the Svanir Dome was open.
I think it was a very successful picture attempt.
“Whatcha thinking about?”

Are you using the proper transmutation stone? There’s the yellow icon one that only allows you to use it up to level 79 weapons/armor, and then there’s the blue icon one for 80’s.
If you’re using the right stone, them I don’t know what’s wrong.
I still use double-tab.
I’ll have the occasional ledge fall, or dodge off a JP ledge because I accidentally double-tapped.
It’s still easy for me to use.
I’m going to assume it works like every other upgrade and you can just place a new infusion over it, like you would a Sigil over an Orb or something.
Hey, so, I’ve been working on my Guardian lately, and I plan to make her into a Solo-viable one for dungeon running (My goal is to solo Lupicus eventually) Of course, I know I’m not going to be doing that anytime soon, nor do I plan to rush headfirst, my guildies and I are still trying to beat him in a 5man.
Anyhow, if anyone pretty knowledgeable in a Guardian that could take a look into my theorycrafted build, and either give me a pointer, or see if something could be fixed, it’d be much appreciated.
I don’t want to hear my build is awful, or I should quit while I’m behind, etc. IF it’s really that bad, just let me know and I’ll either work on it some more, or scrap it for something else.
I don’t like stealing builds from other people, and usually tend to make my own and pick up ideas from other people when I see them/hear something.
Last thing, I’m thinking of switching the 10 in Virtues into Honor instead of breaking up that last 20, so I can get the Shouts reduced by 20%.

I think the recent interview with Colin said they weren’t planning to fix the Charr armor anytime soon, and the plethora of armor skins coming out in the future aren’t made for Charr in mind either; loss of horns, tail clipping, etc.
They’re all based on Humanoid forms, so they just stretch it and slap it on us Charr.
My CoE medium armor isn’t too bad honestly, my CoE trenchcoat actually has a flap over the tail.
My computer can handle the game on better setting, but still not as great as most people, usually in LA nothing will load for a good 10 minutes in some instances.
Here’s a beautiful scenic screenshot I managed to get in Queensdale.
Edit: It’s also my current desktop background.
Can anyone point me to a list or give me an ideal list of vendors that sell weapon/armor skin recipes for crafting?
I know about the Corrupted weapons skins (Currently piling up Lodestones to make the Avenger) The Godskull set, and the PvE version of the Dry Bones armor skins.
If anyone knows any others or could link me a site that gives a good list of where I can find them, it’d be much appreciated.
There’s a lot of variety to players, I only have one Zerker (My ranger, go figure)
My warrior is in PTV gear to withstand damage, my necro might be a hybrid Daggermancer/Survival, and I plan to build my Guardian to be able to solo and do some good party support.
Not everyone sticks to only Zerker, some people don’t even play Zerkers.
About a month ago, I returned to the game from my processor overheating and eventually causing my tower to never start up for more than 5 seconds.
I would constantly have to apologize to my fractals group because I’d DC in the more intense fractals, such as the Ascalon one.
I’d have to respawn and run all the way back to them, only for it to happen again on the next fractal.
How they put up with me in those groups for it, I’ll never know, but I commend them for letting me stick around.
It would’ve been nice to spawn closer though.
As far as I’ve read, they’ll be craft-able, or otherwise rare drops from world bosses and such. I’m not big on crafting, and I like getting the best gear I possibly can, so that’s kind of annoying.
Either I’ll be working on my crafting, or hoping for another way to earn the ascended gear/weps.
Hey, I’m not sure if anyone else has been seeing/noticing it, but my weapon skills have been blinking after use sometimes (Mainly auto-attack, though it did just occur on my Maul) I didn’t double-hit, and the auto-attack isn’t going off like I’m in combat when it happens.
I know just re-hitting the weapon skill makes it stop, but I’m curious to see if anyone else has been noticing this lately.
So, I was leveling my Asura Guard alt to work on my third 80, and noticed this little Easter egg.
Thought it was cool.
As a ranger, I’m offended by his statement to not play with us.
No, but seriously.
There are some people who should suck it up a little, and play regardless of the setup.
Chances are some players are going to be better at dodging and utilizing their class than others; even if their class isn’t the most ideal to some. There’s always a fair chance they’ll hold out better than the person complaining.
A lot of rare drops are based around RNG I believe.
Take the new patch for example: The Aether weapons that can drop are extremely rare, but scale in chance the higher the tier you do. It’s still going to be pretty rare, but there’s a better shot, like scaling higher in fractals.
Of course, some people are just overly lucky. During Dragon Bash people were talking about how they’d get multiple tickets in small differences between the amounts of chests.
It’s all just massive luck.
This isn’t exactly a big suggestion, but I’d like to option to one day choose which hand is my main hand, or which side the two-handed is held on.
I think it’d be cool if we could mainhand the actual weapon, instead of them cross-grabbing to put their offhand in their left hand.
Just a minor, little suggestion.
I’m particularly favorable of the Maul and Counterattack – Crippling Throw changes.
No more being rooted in place, and no more bleed stacks.
My reaction for the coming patch.
I hope to see some new dungeons in the future, but as of right now, the only word we’ve gotten is new fractals in the future.
The next content update launching on the 23rd is going to allow us to vote for Kiel or Evon (in-case you haven’t been keeping up with the news)
Evon winning will result in development of the Fall of Abbadon fractal, and Kiel winning would result in the Thaumanova Reactor fractal.
There also has been some word that the Molten Facility and Aetherblade temp dungeons will be revamped and released as new fractals along with whichever fractal we earn from Evon or Kiel winning.
Anets has a lot planned, I’m sure at some point we’ll see some new permanent dungeons. But for now, we have the temp ones on certain content releases, and new fractals on the way; which are both very nice of Anet to give us in the midst of all their new content releases.
This is the wrong discussion thread to post this in, though to answer your question anyways:
I’d suggest asking in map chat for a small/friendly guild recruit new players, or you can always try starting your own guild if you’d like. There are a lot of nice smaller guilds out there, which is why when I go into a guild, I always advertise that I’m looking for a newer one, this way I can always become a part of the guild community, instead of being ignored by all the players hanging out together.
I wouldn’t know about GoM’s guild list, I’m on ET, and I’ve found a lot of smaller friendly guilds, and I’m actually pretty well liked and helpful in the one I belong to now, and it’s fairly small.
The best thing to do would be to advertise yourself looking for a noob friendly guild willing to help, and maybe a smaller one as well.
As for reporting a guild, I don’t think that’s viable. If there’s a specific member that would harass you or anything for being new, then that could possibly warrant a report.
Good luck, hopefully you’ll find a friendly guild soon.
No worries my friend!
Hey, to answer your questions:
1. No, no romances or marriage exists in this game.
2. If you’re talking about companions in the WoW sense as little mini-collectibles, then yes, they exist, but only if you buy them with gems (A separate currency either obtained through real money, or trading in-game gold with the transfer system in the Trading Post) There are also special mini’s that can be obtained through different means, usually by completing meta achievements during the current Living Story events. Some can also be made in the Mystic Forge by putting a few special ones (from Living Story together to make a different one only obtainable through that)
3. No mounts exist within the game, instead they’re replaced with Waypoints that will warp you wherever you need to go (for a small fee of course, and only after discovering them) I think the gem store has a ride-able broom, but it doesn’t affect your speed, it’s merely for show.
The reason this may not have been answered is either this forum is rarely looked at; they’d think you’d take the time to quickly check on it; or they didn’t find it worth answering.
Regardless, I figured I’d help and reply to your thread. Hope you enjoy your adventures in Tyria friend!
I’m helping out a guildie with her story quest, and I discovered she’s Order of Whispers on the toon.
Seeing Tybalt again brings up all the feels.
I miss Tybalt man.
I’d think some people would stick to the LFG site regardless for specific requirement runs.
So, I read last night that Dulfy has the transcript written down from the livestream yesterday. Reading through it, Colin stated they’d just recently tested out a LFG tool, and they’re liking it so far; stating it should definitely come out before the years end.
It appears we’ll finally have an in-game working LFG tool instead of having to use that site soon enough.
Colin is also wearing an I like Evon button in the live-stream too. Thought that was humorous.
Thank you for all of that, now I can start reading up on the lore I missed!
I came into Guild Wars 2 about 6 months ago, though I was only able to play for four of them due to a broken computer tower that put me out of commission for those two months.
With the upcoming patch, where we can support Evon Gnashblade or Kiel; everyone’s raving about the Fall of Abbadon fractal that’ll be introduced if Evon wins.
I played GW1 for about 20 minutes at most, so I’m pretty lost with all the raving about the new potential fractal; and lore just fascinates me.
Considering GW2 is farely new, and surely they’ll be including or expanding on lore, I’d like to start learning as much of it as I can so I can understand all the raving and just general background to the game story, races, zones, etc.
Any help on this quest to learn Guild Wars lore would be greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah, Evon Gnashblade for council!

I’m not sure how popular this would be among some players; nor am I sure if this has been a thread at one point, but I’d like to see achievements added in for doing X on boss Y; like they did for Aetherblade (and possibly Molten Facility; my computer tower was KIA during that time)
For example, defeat the final Subject Alpha in Crucible of Eternity (any path) without getting hit by any of his AoE.
Or; Defeat X boss in Y minutes.
Not the best suggestions, but my mind is currently drawing any ideal thoughts to a blank.
Anyhow, I think it’d be nice to include achievements in dungeons to issue more of a challenge than just run through quickly for tokens.
because people were still beating dredge in under 30 minutes. That’s just too fast to be able to complete 1/4 of a dungeon
This.
Depends on the buffing.
Is it sustainable or does it rely on high cooldown skills? Does it have certain requirements that may be difficult to fullfill regularly? You can’t just look at numbers in isolation, you have to contextualize things.
The CD’s are about a minute max, except my elite which is 2 minutes. So probably average to long CD length.
I can regularly keep it going so long as I dodge attacks and heal, or switch to SB in a pinch to gain some range while my health picks up, or for waiting on the CD to come back.
So, I want to see if this is good considering I just changed to a GS from the SB on the fly.
During our CoF run, self buffing myself I can crit at over 10K with Maul on the Slave Driver.
My build is 30/30/0/0/10, so I’m pretty much a Glass Cannon. I’ve got Superior Sigil of Bloodlust in the GS as well.
My baseline crit hit is about 1.7 or 1.8K compared to the SB’s 900 to 1K base without buffing.
Buffed, my hits are about 2K to 2.3K per autoswing, and maul can hit up to 5K or 6K depending on the might stacks, as well as Swoop hitting to about 4K.
Is this normal, or better than most GS rangers? Or am I fairly subpar and in need of re-working my build?
(edited by Warzaw.2708)
If only.
I’ve got a few dungeons I did an explore run on and never did any others, so I don’t exactly remember which ones I’ve completed. It would be helpful to know which ones you’ve ran if you don’t remember, but worst case you re-run a path you already did and get extra tokens while trying to work out what path you actually need.
Good luck figuring out which ones you missed my friend.
Taragam and Bender the Lynx
Me and a guildie ran AC story a few days ago, just us two.
We had four wipes, but that was due to bad targeting and just general mishaps on our end.
I’ve heard CM can be 2-manned, SE P1/P3
Two of the Arah paths.
AC P1/P3 if you can pull good DPS and can survive well.
Good luck with anything you run!
I started with AC path 1, still extremely easy to duo with ele+whatever. AC path 3 is quite easy two. Both paths require a lot dps though, warrior+ele is optimal composition. Aside from that, CM is pretty easy to duo, just like TA. SE path 1 pretty easy too and arah paths 2-3 if you are looking for some more challenge.
Good job on AC story, i wiped like 10 times the first time i tried to duo it. Well, never done before and didn’t knew how to fight ralena and vassar ._.
Ralena should go down first since she’s the easiest, and can be done without much trouble as long as they’re both separated. Vassar took us on head-first, and we ended up downing Ralena and having to fight Vassar alone, hopefully we’ll perfect it next time we’re in there.
So, after reading that AC Story mode was able to be run by two players, me and my guild buddy decided we’d give it a shot.
We took four wipes, two on bosses, and two on trash (Bad targeting and just general idiocy)
Otherwise it was a pretty successful run. I’m sure it’s not the hardest place to two man, and I know we’re not the only two who have done it.
I’m probably going to look into another dungeon to two man for fun, if you’ve got any suggestions, I’m all ears.
A group of mine during a story run theorized he isn’t really dead, and we’ll get to have another battle with him.
It’s highly unlikely, but it would be pretty cool to see.
There are players who basically already do that, whether it’s on purpose or accidentally.
I’d like to see more dungeons have harder boss mechanics than walk out of AoE and DPS the enemy fast; or stack here and don’t move so we can revive you quickly.

I’m fairly curious as to what everyone’s favorite dungeon in this game is, and your least favorite.
I’ve honestly got a soft side for the new Aetherblade dungeon, it isn’t too hard as long as you understand what you’re doing.
Also, Even though Crucible of Eternity has given me much trouble, Pre-Alpha nerf and after it, I still personally have a soft spot for it as well; it’s just a long trudging experience, especially when everyone wants to boss stack and it fails 75% of the time.
However, I can’t stand Caudecus Manor; and I don’t particularly care for Ascalonian Catacombs.
So friends, sit a spell and spin a yarn about your favorite or least favorite dungeon.
