FEEL THE STRENGTH OF THE EARTH
Vicodium – Ranger (IX) Coldsnap
I lost a chest out in Queensdale yesterday when I started it.
Tremors was bugging on some players, causing it to activate without someone using it.
My guess is Anet took it out to fix it.
I found a small bug when you’re using the Charged Potion transform, and move your camera to a specific distance and angle, it looks as if you’re inside the platform, and if you tilt it a little, it looks like the platform is lifted up.
People were making alts and sending the 5 free tickets to their mains, basically giving them hundreds of tickets without doing anything.
GS Ranger here.
I think I did it on my first or second attempt, I was able to control my cleave on my GS enough to not kill any before killing Subject 7.
It’s your account-wide Karma gain buff.
The issues with phase 2 are the cripples, the random orb pulls from phase 1, and her bigger AoE. At most it leaves you more room to dodge and walk to the safe-zones, but you’re also going to get hit by her whip often. Also, you have to watch out for those shades as well, and I think they’ll close in on you in melee faster than you can kill her anyhow, forcing you to range for a bit.
The Crown Pavilion farm is pretty good at netting gold, run it for an hour or two and you should be able to grab a fairly cheap scepter off the TP, or even if you have spare tokens for dungeons.
Anyhow, I wish you luck with trying to melee her, I gave up quite fast and resorted to using my SB on phase 2.
Edit: Zerker ranger perspective.
I think she hits a little too hard for melee, but that’s just me specced into zerker and having to change my build to compensate for the little toughness I had, and the endur I couldn’t catch up on.
I’m sure it’s possible, it’ll just probably be extra challenging.
This is kind of a track to warn anyone who hasn’t participated in the Gauntlet as of yet, or hasn’t advanced too far.
Just gonna list a few bugs, and if the thread gets closed or anything, moved, etc, it’s all good, just wanted to give a friendly warning.
1. Subject 7’s oozes will sometimes stay inside the arena if the player doesn’t beat him within the time limit, forcing the next player to fight their boss with the oozes inside. The only fix for it I’ve noticed is to die, I have yet to see someone with this bug complete their fight.
2. Apparently the Tremors gambit will self-activate in fights, causing constant knockdowns to unsuspecting players.
3. I’ve seen two separate instances where no bosses will spawn. Either some how downing yourself, or re-logging can fix this. In one case two players entered but one got ported out.
4. I’ve been involved in (and seen) a case where two players will spawn into the arena with their selected fights. It was me battling Liadri before I managed to beat her, and someone fighting the very first Gauntlet boss.
Anyhow, just a warning to some of the bugs that may occur, and if Anet hasn’t heard or seen some of these yet.
If anyone has any others, feel free to post them here.
There’s apparently a bug going around that Tremors self-activates on bosses without you choosing the gambit.
That could be the problem.
It took a good 100+ tries for Liadri, someone putting a soup for endur regen, changing my build to give me vigor and such, using the Hoelbrak emissary buff, and using all my dodges (Thank you Charr racial dodge pistol) I don’t think I would’ve beaten the fight without that.
I raged on the gauntlet, not as hard as I have in certain games and challenges in said games, but enough that I quit for the first night, and swore and proclaimed the game cheated.
The best I can say is to keep at it, and push through if you really want to finish it. I’m down do doing the spare achieves, and I’m not even sure if I’ll manage to get the Light up the Darkness one.
I demand roller-coasters.
You know, I’m honestly going to go out on a limb and say this was one of my favorite updates so far in this game.
However, I missed everything up until F&F started, and I missed the third and fourth part of F&F. I also missed SAB, and all of Southsun. (Actually, 95% of it, I got some of that mini-game in and wandered around a bit before I gave up)
I enjoyed the gauntlet heavily, and after much swearing, giving up the night the patch came out, 100+ tries, and the occasional “This is bullkitten, Liadri isn’t possible and the game’s cheating” I finally managed to beat her.
Now I’m left to work on some of the extra achieves, though I don’t know if I’ll be able to get them all on my ranger without speccing back into the build I made solely to beat Liadri.
I love the farming going on in the Crown Pavilion (I wish I had been capitalizing on it more) and the wallet (spare gold sharing)
I’m curious to see how much the economy is going to blow up thanks to all the incoming money.
I’m pretty knowledgeable in most dungeons, spare Arah
I’m looking for a small-ish dungeon guild, I’m will to do a trial run if need be.
I can rep sometimes, I’m pretty loyal to my home guild, but if it’s dead and people are repping in your guild I’ll rep for a little while.
You’re welcome to whisper me in game about it.
Edit: I’m NA
Eredon Terrace server, but I don’t mind being in a cross-server guild.
(edited by Warzaw.2708)
After many, many, MANY attempts (At least 100+) I finally managed to beat Liadra on my ranger.
I had to change my build for more toughness, someone dropped a pot of orrian truffles for all of us trying it, used Lightning Reflexes, the Charr racial Hidden Pistol, Signet of Stone (with the 30 in power to apply it to me), and the Champion of the Wild buff from the Hoelbrak emissary.
It was the most insane challenge I’ve ever accomplished in-game, and on my ranger, and I can say that I’m happy to have finally accomplished this feat.
Now, to bring my PTV warrior there and get the crystal achievement >.>
Bonus tip if you have a GS on your ranger: The Counterattack can block the Necrotic Grasps without swinging, and you can use it on the massive AoE for a free block as well. Just… don’t walk over the white circle while using it.
I’m going to have to say I’m not a fan of them either.
Hopefully I’ll find a cool skin from the Champ loot drops.
PvE Mainly
Eagle runes currently, though I’m planning to switch to Scholar runes for a stronger Maul on my GS.
Dungeon-running mostly, I’m definitely a lot more effective than when I was playing a kitten cond/power build before I decided to really look into making myself a real power build.
I think Anet is currently testing it out, and planning to release it by years end, but I’m not so sure on that.
Otherwise the GW2LFG site is your best bet.
The Zephyrites are leaving on the Sanctum ship, so the aspects will no longer be there for us to harness for the mini-game.
At least, that’s my assumption.
yet the santum run is there…
Then I can only be left to assume it either wasn’t popular enough, or they forgot about it. Or they outright chose not to include it, I dunno.

At least, that’s my assumption.
I can understand certain ones being temporary, but I’m going to agree that the new Crown Pavilion coming in the patch tomorrow should have been permanent.
Anet had been talking about making more content permanent, but so far they haven’t seemed to deliver on much on that topic, spare small things like new crafting materials and such.
Hopefully they’ll start adding some real permanent content soon.
+1
I’m on board for this.
Er… I meant Kiel.
Anyhow, I voted for Evon and rooted for him, and while it sucks he lost, I accept the defeat.
I just hope the Thaumanova Reactor fractal will live up to some players expectations.
(Or ruin them entirely)
I’d assume as long as it’s not an offensive word or term, it should be fine.
I don’t think you can create toons with ALT sequences anymore, I tried it a month or so ago and it said that character was not allowed.
I found warriors kinda boring, and that’s coming from someone who leveled one to 80 and geared them in full PTV gear (Stupidest choice ever)
I love my ranger, but I hate thiefs. I found them kinda boring, and I didn’t like initiative much either. Guardians are kinda fun, but not as much as my ranger, or the necro I started and never got around to working on again.
I’ve had them reset on me too the one time it happened to me about two weeks ago. I rarely run fractals and I’ve only gotten Cliffside twice lately, and only one time did we have the wipe.
I’m not sure if it was just luck, or the bug-fix was implemented awhile ago, but it was pretty nice regardless.
That’s enough GW2 forums for one day.
I’ve kinda gotten the sense that Queensdale chat is now the Barrens equivalent.
Honestly, I don’t see a problem in people joking around or rambling on about random topics in map chat. I’ll usually jump in myself and joke around, some guy was talking about a unicorn chasing him in Queensdale he was trying to kill, so a few of us we’re trying to give him tips to fighting in, and listing other beings that were attacking as well.
A few times in LA I’ve seen some major arguments about actual topics start up, and some shorter ones as well.
If people aren’t trying to dictate what they’re saying as the complete truth, and still willing to accept that someone else has a differing opinion during a discussion, I see no harm.
If someone is putting someone down, or a group, etc. then it becomes something a little out of hand.
Otherwise, I don’t mind the nonsensical chats going on, and will join in on them myself if they’re any bit interesting.
I’ve been currently using this one as my desktop background, it’s one of my alts in the Svanir Dome in Wayfarers.
I’ve also got these screens as well.
One is in Queensdale
One is Lornar’s Pass I believe
The other is Metrica Province
I’ll have to say Plains of Ashford is my favorite place. I’ll never forget the first time I played the game, making my Charr ranger and exploring it all for the first time, seeing the game through the eye’s of a beginner.
It was pretty amazing, and I’ll always love that zone.
I’ve been using tpcalc.com to check my findings before I buy. I try not to undercut either side, though I know it can be an advantage with some items.
I’ve so far made at least 40s or so in total from flipping, and I currently have stuff on waiting, fixing my buying bids every hour or so if a lot of people have undercut the current price I was at. Of course, I’m checking to see if my profit margins are still within a reasonable range, I don’t think I’ve dipped below a 15% gain, though I usually try to stay at 20%+ right now just to kind of get some ground in all of it.
I guess this won’t be the ideal thing in the long run, what with my limited patience and inability to wait on anything.
Wait, it may be my mind being tired from lack of sleep, or me mis-reading what you’re saying, but if I’m correct, you’re asking about re-traiting.
I think the 2G you’re talking about is for the book to get the extra trait points, which is at level 50, and you should have earned a fair amount of gold by then.
I’m only paying 3s 15c to re-trait myself whenever I do.
I’d suggest holding off until you’re absolutely sure you want to apply the skin.
Otherwise I’d hold onto a level 80 transmutation crystal just in-case.
From what Colin said, if they ever add Cantha or Elona to the game, they will most likely not have Renown Hearts, but they will retain the PoI’s, Vista’s, and Waypoints.
The reason being they only added hearts, I believe, was so testers had a general idea where to go for DE’s, and to find what suggested area to go for the DE’s of your level.
I’m sure you’ve all seen this before, and I’m just another schmuck trying to garner some gold, but if anyone could give a little advice, I’d appreciate it.
I’ve sent 5g over to an alt as an investment into flipping and I’ve made about 20s in profit I believe from the few items I’ve managed to flip.
If anyone could give just a little advice to practicing it to get better at flipping, I’d appreciate it greatly.
I made a bank alt called Token Bank
I was relatively surprised it hadn’t been taken already.
At least her bags will be less full after the Wallet goes live next patch.
Now our pets can die with style!
This chest seems to magnetize me.
If they ever included mounts, it would most likely be for show; the reason being once you have the WP’s, you’re mostly supposed to rely on them. If they’ do ever add them, they’ll probably be bought from the Gem Store.
There would be no speed-buffs, and like I said, merely just for show.
I think they had a ride-able witches broom that acted like a mount without a speed increase, though I can’t be sure.
This made my head hurt.
I’ve given up on range and have been running my own 30/30/0/10/0 Build with a GS main and SB to hop out of melee really easily.
Ironically, as bad as our rap is, a ranger is currently involved in the fastest CoF P1 speedrun record using the Sword/Warhorn build.
If you really want to optimize your DPS, I’d suggest switching to melee and testing out the sword/warhorn build out there for your liking.
I gave up on the wrongbow awhile ago.
I think the last interview with Colin talked about the future Living Stories to feature more permanent content.
This next release will probably be adding in a new area to Divinity’s Reach (More-over just changing the Great Collapse to this new Crown Pavilion)
The one after that will probably have something to do more in-line with the game’s 1-year anniversary. After that, I’m thinking some of the updates will be more ambitious with greater world change and better content.
My tower had been down for 2 months. Even after It got fixed, it was in the middle of the Southsun updates, so I ended up not playing again until soon after Dragon Bash started.
Initially, I planned to delete my 80’s and start fresh, I even made a brand new Charr Ranger and got recruited to a guild so I could have a new beginning.
I ended up running AC with my new guildies, logged onto my ranger and well, I couldn’t bring myself to delete him.
My characters have all grown on me, honestly, my ID is my old WoW Worgen Huntards name.
I still from time to time will wander into Plains of Ashford on my alts and remember wandering through there the first time on my ranger.
They become a part of me, and I’d probably end up quitting for awhile if anything happened to my toons.
The kite baskets in the zones also give 2-6 per opening the two sacks that they drop.
People get quartz much faster and in more bulk if they run around a zone collecting them.
It’s for the Asura personal story to enter Gorr’s Lab.
(I just did it like a half hour ago actually)
Wasn’t Dragon Bash kind of a “Let’s-blow-off-some-steam” event because they weren’t immediately under threat of any Elder Dragon since we defeated Zhaitan?
I’m pretty curious, does anyone play with race only skills? That includes your elite skill.
I used to use my Warband, but I gave it up awhile ago when I fixed my build to be a better ranger.
I’ve got this contest in the bag.
I wouldn’t mind it too much, if you prefer using the GS then that’s up to you.
In my opinion, some players get the mindset that everyone has to play the same way instead of what’s fun for the player in question. If they don’t like how you want to play, then they’re better off leaving for another group.
