What’s the damage difference between pvt and ppc? What about the tankiness?

I’m just wondering because if we assume that ppc gains more damage than pvt gains tankiness then wouldn’t ppc groups wipe pvt groups?
Basically, if you have players with same gear (except one is ppc and other pvt) auto-attacking each other. Which one would win?

More like putting 5 points to some other tree doesn’t really give anything. And well, the Master traits are pretty good. Just have to switch often to get most out of them.

I was paying attention at your code & your table against the other guy’s spreadsheet so I’ve probably miss that. The way I look at it is it’s inherent bias to level 80 for whoever could add more points after the base 916, definitely would win the number. So yes, 450 more pts in trait would win that part hand down.
Next: rare gear (theoretical discussion, players definitely not using it) has 5% advantage over exotic per piece (assume they are uniform), would 6 piece of rare gears add more to stat points hence overcome the 450 pts in trait?
As a side note, my questions are curious in nature. Not trying to prove you wrong or anything. I don’t like to re-invent the wheel but I want to make sure the wheel isn’t a square one.

My 3000 stat point over-estimation included all stats you get from Exotic gear.
My stats are 2445 Power and 1654 Precision. That’s 2445 + 1654 – 2*916 = 2267 from gear, runes and traits. Then I just chose a big enough number (3000) to ensure I get a solid result.
Point is, even after over-estimating effect of gear the additional trait points still come stronger.

I think that even without any additional stats from traits level 80 would be stronger because of the actual traits.

What if Anet used different algorithm which is also including traits of a level 80s to adjust to level 35 level? I’m pretty sure that they know level 80 have 450 pts more than level 35.

Sorry, I’m not sure what you are trying to say. If you are talking about stat points from traits, they are included in my theory (“regardless of source”). If you are talking about actual traits, well, would be really weird to make them scale.

Yes, Rare level 35 gear has better stats than Exotic. However the point I was trying to make is that level 80 has access to a lot more traitpoints which will overcome this difference.

Let’s say Exotic gear gives 0.279*3000=837 stat points (actually much less) + some critical damage. Then if Rare level 35 gear has 5% more stats that’s 42 more stat points. Level 80 has 45 more trait points which is like 0.279*450=126 stat points. Clearly level 80 wins.

Then also level 80 has actual traits with various effect and access to better runes.

I have personally done research on stat scaling. After collecting data I made my theory (that it is based on base stats on that level) and so far it has scaled down everything correctly, regardless of dungeon or source of stats.

This is the javascript function I use to get scaling.

At least on EU you can pay 1-1.5 g to join someone at end boss and get back more from the end rewards.
It probably isn’t done legit but I’m a casual crafter and don’t know about those things.

I’m not exactly sure you are agreeing or disagreeing but I think reducing effect of out-of-combat regeneration would make the game more tactical (even in PvE dungeons). Running away from fight at low health would keep you at risk of getting killed by someone else, instead of getting back to full health in several seconds.

You asked for a proof and I noticed that you compared Master gear w/ Exotic gear and missing the rare gear in the data base. I thought it’s nice to point that out.
Whether people wearing level 35 rare gears or not is entirely another subject and not under the discussion whether level 35 could do more damage than a level 80.

I compared Exotic to Masterwork to improve and clarify results from laokoko. Also at that level Masterwork can be considered realistic (perhaps even bit optimistic), at least I really don’t expect random pugs to run in full Rare gear.

And I really hope you don’t consider that a proof of level 35 dealing more damage. If you do, I suggest taking look at the trait system.

Opening a thread to discuss and possibly learn melee tactics from. First question as OP would be:

(valid currently for build 23458) How do you reliably melee (when in zerk) that Champion Door Guard in CM story that if I remember correctly has a melee attack which is more than 130 range, tracks, and bleeds per hit, as well as triggering HB every now and then?

Cross profession tips would be reaally useful for here. Only way I can think of doing so is a chain blind every half a second or less (just blind as fast as he attacks).

If you are soloing you can keep him crippled/chilled and run around the room at max melee range. Occasionally he will get close enough so you have to dodge away.
Alternatively stay close to a pillar on stair. When he glows jump on the pillar and he can’t hit you. Get down when he finishes so he won’t turn invulnerable.

How do you melee first boss in SE p3, and the champ wolf in coe?

I think you can still use safespot for Volkov. And at least on my solo npc tanked him but probably won’t work in a group.
On Icebrood Wolf count to 33 after he uses his special attacks and then dodge again.

Most of the stats scale similarly (Power, Precision, Toughness Vitality, Healing Power, Condition Damage, Critical Damage). Game calculates your base stats for that level and then compares it to your base stats at your level. Then all your stats get scaled with that ratio.
At level 35 your base stats are 256 and at level 80 they are 916 so those stats get scaled down to 28%.

Rest of the stats like Condition Duration, Boon Duration and class mechanics stay same.

Defense from gear works bit differently. I’m still working on it but I can say that it scales same for every profession. Also level 80 Masterwork armor gives less defense than level 35 Masterwork armor.

Based on my little experience with downscaling the difference is already quite big. On level 35 dungeon level 80 is only equal to level 35 if:
a) he doesn’t use any extra trait points
b) he only wears similar rarity as level 35 (mostly masterwork, maybe some rares)
c) level 35 has only level 35 equipment

Without running any numbers I would say properly geared level 80 does 50%-100% more damage.

But I will test this more today/this weekend and try to figure it out how it actually works.

Correctly placed projectile reflection may reflect them back quite fast. Also I think you can evade the attack from Oozes which may cause random “evade” appear.
It is bit hard to say without seeing the video.

Might be because I just woke up but don’t you get short invulnerability when getting downed? Which would mean absorbing all attacks but not appearing on combat log.

Ghost Eater doesn’t even have a melee attack so he will stay at range all times. Just run bit back to pull him correctly.

And the animations are really clear and attacks are used very consistently which makes them easy to dodge.

I’m fairly sure patriarch swipe is a melee attack (the one where he swipes in front of him with his claws).
it’s not even that hardhitting, but sometimes you just get hit multiple times by it. just like the vapor blades, only there it’s clear you just ate 5 projectiles.

Patriarch Swipe = Vapor Blades, in this case.

What we’re saying is you can’t just assert something and have it be true. It absolutely does not necessarily imply that muli-hacking is unintended. The possibility is there that it’s unintended, of course. But we don’t have to take it at 100% certainty that it’s unintended. And asserting that doesn’t make it true, no matter how many times you do it in one thread.

The only people who know with absolute certainty whether or not it’s intended are the developers who coded it. And even then, unintended mechanics aren’t always and shouldn’t always be considered exploits.

That was just a long way to say “Nothing is certain”. You can also apply that to skipping/glitching every encounter and then selling the slots.
However, it doesn’t stop us from having an opinion and discussing about it. You are free to explain why do you think it is intended. Also a side note, this isn’t scientific discussion so we aren’t here to prove anything.

What he is saying that it doesn’t make sense that 4 persons can hack a single console. If developers 100% meant to include that tactic why didn’t they put 5 separate consoles?
One console implies that they probably didn’t think about it during the development.

Lots of encounters are actually quite nice with 1-3 players. Try stacking solo and see how it works.

Acutally as elems we can use our class mechanics while depsing: we can attunement swap while wielding the hammer, and it is as exiting as using engi’s mechanics.

That being said I believe hammer builds are only good for mindless speedruns, and the real deal is with a Fresh Air build in challenging content. Content in which actually sharing the hammer rather than using it selfishly is more beneficial to the group. However in that challenging type of content our damage is assuredly low. Therefore my belief is that the hammer builds should actually be nerfed, so that Fresh Air builds can call for buffs.

Eat that controversial stuff

“Nerf builds I don’t like and buff the ones I do”
Also what challenging content? What PvE content doesn’t let you mindlessly whale on mobs in a full DPS setup?

It’s always bit annoying when people call my dungeon soloing mindless whaling. I mean that’s still PvE, right?

It took me 6 traps solo (few more hits and would have been 5 traps). Going over 3 traps means really poor DPS, especially when pre-charging.
