Is it true that there are only so many bomb carriers, so as long as you don’t kill them they cannot pick up a second bomb?

When those miner Dredge pick up a weapon (either a bomb or from a corpse) they seem to get new set of skills.
Also I have noticed that amount of exploding bombs increase wave by wave. Even if 0 or 1 bombs had exploded on first try I have always got it done in 3-4 attempts.

That makes me fairly sure that they can’t pick up a bomb multiple times.

Again this. Seriously, who do you think you are to tell how everyone should play?

Like specifically asking for someone with good damage and then getting shout-heal Hammer Warrior with Vit/Prec/Heal gear?
If you are fine with “elitist” parties then what’s the issue with providing necessary tools?

3) An inspect tool discourages build diversity. Everyone will gravitate toward a couple of builds that the elitist consider acceptable. (See 1)

And why do you care? It’s their group.
Why must every group be exactly like you want?

Don’t turn this around. You are the ones saying that every group has to be they way you want it. And you want to impose an inspect function so that you can ensure that there is no variation from the “ideal.”

Umm, no. We only care about our own group.

No you don’t, not if you’re calling for shoving an inspect tool up us all…

How is an inspect-tool telling you what kind of group you should create or join?

Lots of you seem to think that an inspect is bad because it may encourage groups which you don’t like. Even if it did, who are you tell to what kind of groups we should have?
Everyone can make their own group. Why can’t you simply make your and allow everyone in? Why must all groups be like that?

There are a couple of reasons.

1) Generally, elitists aren’t as good or as smart as they think they are.

2) An inspect tool encourages elitist parties, which, while tolerated, should never be encouraged.

3) An inspect tool discourages build diversity. Everyone will gravitate toward a couple of builds that the elitist consider acceptable. (See 1)

In my opinion, elitist are bad for the game and bad for the community. It’s antisocial. I feel sorry for any new player you encounters an elitist dungeon runner on their first run. I’m sure they don’t have a good time.

If you PUG then you roll the dice and take your chances. If you don’t want to PUG join / form a guild, set the criteria to require zerker warriors and zerker mesmers, kick anyone from the guild that doesn’t measure up to whatever arbitrary standard you set. Run with them.

But if you PUG, then realize you are selecting from a group of people who all want to run the dungeon but have a variety of skill levels, knowledge of the dungeon, and different builds.

Umm, no. We only care about our own group.

/inspect will NOT tell you what you need to know, even though you still seem to believe that -shrugs-

Inspect lets you know half of it. Not all players who run berserker are good at the game. But all players who run soldier gear suck. So you’re weeding a lot of these quickly. You can still kick the bad berserker build players mid run if they aren’t up to standards skill wise. But the fact is, being able to completely weed off anyone who cannot handle it is already a good starting point and time saver.
As for running with friends… I would only run with friends and guildies if I could help it. But it’s not like everyone in guild or friendlist are available for a particular dungeon at a particular time. If I can get one or two friends/guildies though, rest assured that the pugs taken will be selectively taken and I won’t allow the type of stuff I have to tolerate when I join fully pugged groups, like the people in this screenshot (I had the decency to censor the names but you’ll spot what is going wrong quickly on this screen) :
http://i.imgur.com/Th8hmkF.jpg

Banner regen, banner of defense and tactics rather than Discipline and Strength, condition warrior with sword, PVT or magic find leeches, dolyak signet, no one is using any food except for my mesmer and the other mesmer of the group. Not to mention some people are ranging alpha (what the screenshot doesn’t show is that they never used the expected line of sight.).

It took us 10 jump during the destroyer part in path 3 for us to take down the destroyer. Not because we fell into the lava (we actually didn’t, despite doing that 10 times) but because the whole group was running the worst builds you could imagine and the level of damage was so pathetic you could bore the boss to death.
My guild and friendlist runs will kill that destroyer in path 3 on the first jump.

I don’t want to have to tolerate that kind of terrible runs.

Simple fact, if you were any good you would be able to handle running berserker. So while there are plenty of terrible berserker players who’d join my groups and get booted mid run, inspect would allow me to weed half of the baddies before the run even starts.

Horrible, absolutely horrible.

If you want certain thing from the teammates, state it in LFG or ask that in chat before run. You have absolutely no right to boot anyone unless they didn’t meet what you stated. If you said zerker war in LFG and they were wearing those, even if they brought all sort of “wrong” banners, you have no right to kick them.

You expect a guardian to bring some reflect in fractal, ASK!
You think the run would be better if they bring other skills, ASK!
You think that player should be more careful to where they are stepping, ASK!

>You can still kick the bad berserker build players mid run if they aren’t up to standards skill wise.
There is no “skill standard”. Standard by whom? Why do you think you have the right of defining the “standard”?

Would inspect even make it any worse?

Would inspect even make a difference?

Let’s say, I have two sets of armour, identical looks. One is full MF, the other is, let’s say, as that seems to be hot, berserker. I wear my berserker armour pre-run. You inspect, see that I wear that “good” armour. But once we get in the dungeon, I swap into my MF armour. You won’t see the difference as they are identical…

Personally, I don’t care about that inspect. I don’t PUG anyway (mostly because most unknown people I’ve come across are one of those min/maxers, while I’m a average type of girl…

Yeah you could do that. However, doing quick inspect mid-run when something feels wrong would quickly solve the issue.

Personally I would like to have it as a learning tool. See what kind of builds smooth groups use and vice versa.

Would inspect even make it any worse?

There are already players with specific requirements and gear-check. Current game already supports that kind of behavior. With inspect they could pre-kick more effectively meaning some people wouldn’t get kicked mid-run.

Then there are players who want good players but can’t be bothered with gear-checks. If stuff doesn’t go smoothly people will get kicked mid-run. Inspect would allow seeing these problems earlier (it’s not really rocket science).

Then there are players who want some decent players but don’t care that much. They may have to kick people who aren’t just pulling their weight. Again inspect would allow figuring these problems earlier.

Then there are people who don’t care at all and nothing would change.

Yes, more people would get kicked pre-run. But also less people would get kicked mid-run saving lots of frustration.
Would it be so bad if you could easily figure out people you want to play with?

I understand concerns about cookie-cutter builds. However there are some things they could still do:

1) Show Magic Find: this has nothing to do with build
2) Show Agony Resist: again has nothing to do with build
3) Allow full inspect at the end of dungeon: gives everyone chance to prove themselves while allowing us to learn from others

And Red Raven, do you have any idea what you are talking about?

If we actually look at what happened and apply some logic we might actually get something reasonable.
They buffed damage by 10%. Base skill changed but traited one didn’t. They had no reason to touch the trait so we can quite safely assume they didn’t. This makes me believe there are actually two different skills, base one and traited one.
If above is true, all they have to do is change 1 or 2 numbers. And that’s a 1 minute work.

Wethospu.6437

You guys do realize that CC is normally weaker against bosses in every single MMORPG to date, right? Because where’s the challenge if you can completely stunlock a boss fight?

Crowd control generally is designed for two situations: the first is quite obviously PvP. I don’t think I need to explain this one since I certainly hope people here aren’t THAT ignorant about basic MMO mechanics, and since this thread is primarily about PvE anyway.

The second situation, the one relevant to this thread, is encountering special mobs that need to CCed for a specific purpose, such as kiting, preventing them from doing dangerous attacks, or just to keep them out of the fray while you burn down the primary target. For example, during the Molten Facility dungeon, you could normally try to CC some mobs away while you focus fire on the shielder or the rifle jerk. Even so, some bosses are more susceptible to some CC effects than you think. Lupicus can still be crippled during phase three to give teammates some breathing room (unless they fixed that recently, can’t remember if they did), and chill also still works on numerous bosses. When dealing with trash, sometimes an AoE fear can help create space, or a quick blind to help players dodge a crucial strike.

The overall problem isn’t crowd control being weak. The real problem is that the majority of the playerbase is too lazy to put the extra effort into learning how to properly apply CC and prefers to just try to faceroll everything with little to no effort. While both methods work and have their place, the latter is easier for most people because it requires less active brain cells for a GSWD Warrior to kitten his way through a dungeon and pretend he actually knows what he’s doing.

Meanwhile I was running a mace/shield warrior in Molten Facility, stunning the crap out of dangerous trash mobs and keeping them in place, using the shield to bounce back flame projectiles, and blocking attacks from the bosses to stay alive longer. I actually found it to be more enjoyable, and I normally hate playing defensive roles.

You can just melee Lupicus and don’t need any breathing room. Also Molten Facility was one of the easiest dungeons, it’s easy to do well on that.
And by the way, you aren’t good if you can survive on tank-spec. You are good if you can survive on DPS-spec.

Why warriors are amazing in FotM

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

Well, asking for warriors is not that useful anyway because almost every single time you get a war he’s not bringing the expected level of dps. You can’t rely on pug warriors to do what you’d do with people in your friend list or guild.

At least even an extremely ignorant guardian would bring some reflect at lvl 40+. But wars don’t always bring what is expected from them.

I’ve had a funny experience these days with pug warriors who fancy themselves as subguardians.

I was just criticized (I used Rush to increase singletarget DPS, apparently it’s not something you should do!) by a shout-heal Warrior relying mostly on Hammer auto-attack (his words: “I’m healer/interrupter”, magis armor).

On a group which already had a ridiculously low DPS. We kept dying when clearing Maw-level… And also, when I had killed one tentacle solo, the other one (which rest of the team were focusing) was at 50%. I don’t know what they were doing but I seriously hope my DPS wasn’t 66% of whole team.
