Seeing what other classes can do I wouldn’t talk about high survivability. :P

Message Body length must at least be 15.
Yep boss is boring. Hardly any threat.
So you don’t need it until you need it?
I really wouldn’t go condition damage. In open PvE (+ possible in other locations) you will suffer from condition caps. On dungeons there are quite many encounters where condition damage just doesn’t do anything (structures). No idea how it really does damage-wise but I don’t expect too well.
In my opinion most important part of being glass-cannon is that you won’t get one hit. This allows you to make a slight mistake, start playing more passively and recover. Naturally Warriors seem to get this with no investment in defensive stats.
Also when stuff starts to hit hard melees are having hard time., regardless of spec.
XP is great. However it is not so easy anymore.
Second Grawl seems to always teleport.
Let me guess, cooperating with team equals doing exactly what you say?
Either way there is no guarantee that if rest of the team jumps off a cliff that is the best tactic for that situation.
Ring != backpack. Good troll attempt though.
Bonus chest is daily.
Daily chest for defeating Jade Maw for each tier (1-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc).
So run 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 daily.
F12 is highest I have tried so far. There has been enough time to burst in melee for some seconds (+ some more seconds on next spot too). Maybe it gets different, I don’t know.
I can easily solo phase 1 on Lupicus (melee + ranged, melee mostly with other players). Phase 2 is also doable with near perfect playing (ranged). Phase 3 just throws too much stuff at you (at least for Warrior, but maybe someday).
On phase 1 all you have to do is dodge infection animation and you won’t get any Grubs (excluding start of phase 2).
You know, you can actually swap weapons in this game. Nothing forces you to be 100% ranged or 100% melee.
In most content I just 100% melee though. There you don’t need to have that option.

There are bosses you can’t melee and forcing you to use a ranged weapon.Like Lupicus.Grubs duty lol. What about phase2? Theres no way you can melee that one.Specialy if you’ve got the agro. What you gonna do , run pretty? because you refuse to use a range weapon.Because its manly?Being useless is manly to you? And its not the only boss you can’t melee. The Butcher in HotW.I’ve seen other stubborn guardians like you that tried to melee him.Down on every attempt. And there are many other bosses too.You gonna melee the dredge boss in FotM? I’d kick you right away.
Carry a ranged weapon swap. Really. It is not like you need two ranged weapons.
Melee has best burst so why shouldn’t I use it on dredge boss? Or Lupicus phase 1?
No idea because of recent changes. At least you used to be with proper positioning.
I’m not that good with fractals that can really comment on melee. Most of the bosses should be doable by standing behind (and dodging when it turns) and watching animations (missing this for few).

This is about what I use in PvE (full melee):
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNBhOD5kzxkHkCCHCBgRRRAdZQFT6DtlKIGA;TkAqsMZJyymlLLZWrCGWs/A
with mix of power/prec/crit and power/vit/tough
Last utility being Balanced Stance, banner, etc.
Obviously some parts require more tweaking.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
I assume rewards do get better. However not that much because they are being careful. They can balance once they see how hard it actually is for players.
I agree it doesn’t have much value. Maybe they should let us sneak in somehow (fill the area with mobs, whatever).
Hey, if you can burst down each grub he spawns out of you and instantly kill it or if you pay enough attention to run back each time you get the debuff I’m fine with you beeing in meele. But if you only miss one you better switch to a ranged weapon leave my group.
This is not about being bad, if you want to be a member of a party your own opinion is not worth more than that of the others. So, if 4 players in your party want you to use a ranged weapon you use a ranged weapon.
Hmm, last time Grub spawned out of me? Can’t remember. Really. That infection animation is so long and you have so long room for dodging it is literally impossible to miss it (devs must be happy when 99% of players do phase 1 so wrong). And even if I failed all I had to do is run back to other people (or burst Grub).
+ we just ignore Swarms because they mostly die naturally anyway and not that hard to finish off in p2.
This is exactly why you just shouldn’t do what everyone else tells you. Good chance that no one has a clue. Of course it works other way around too.

There is not really many encounters where melee would hinder the group.
Though I guess OP must tell us the situation.
Depends on the dungeon and the boss. I would definitively kick you if you would try to fight Lupi in melee during phase 1.
How definitely more bad you can be?
Dodge infection. Dodge his melee attack.
When I duo path three I mostly melee on phase 1 and 3.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
I heard you get about 25s every time for 5 min job.
I’m just worried how it will affect me as a melee. Staying at max range you can quite well dodge everything (projectile travel time).
Level 10 is doable without any resist.
Got my first vial on 70+ run (usually cleared everything).
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
Accessibility should be based on your own skill and not artificial barrier (lfg, lfg, lfg).
Either completing level should unlock 2-3 levels (faster progression!) or some kind of fractal experience bar.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
Why should random guy help you to progress?
+5 Agony Resist, that’s the real deal.
That is solved by straightening hands, using [Brain], not watching silly YT videos or being otherwise distracted from doing your job.
So you never make mistakes? Because in a tough fight it is quite big whether Agony downs you or just does some damage.
Obviously it doesn’t really matter on easy fights but that’s quite subjective.
I admit with a good team it will be easy, it is just AI. However it will be really a crap if I get forced to play a ranged healing shout build.
Also I don’t find it really fair that one team can just face-roll while other team struggles. It’s kind of like Magic Find discussion. Team can perform well but they would have performed even better with resists. And in this case we are talking about getting hit 2x-4x damage.
If grinding low levels is a must then give special tokens. Make everyone do it same amount.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
I thought Agony targeted everyone in Jade Maw. Though I admit I don’t know if it is possible to avoid.
No idea how it scales on higher level but eventually it will simply kill everyone. Simple “L2P” probably won’t help then.
Seems to work fine. Just remember it heals downed players,. Poisoned low health ones won’t rally (but almost).
And what when Agony puts you to defeated state? Res orb?
@Terra: The thing is rings are dropping so frequently (maybe one third to half) that it wouldn’t make that much different if everyone got one. With current solution it isn’t lucky to get a ring but unlucky to not get a ring.
Especially when Agony Resist is so powerful.
And sure everyone is rolling with 50-150g to make Ascended stuff. People don’t want to farm their kitten off to just play the game.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
Problem is everyone has to pull their weight. If one player can’t position properly and gets aggro or someone snares when pulling it will take long.
+ Fear OP.
Didn’t get ring. got pissed and crafted backpack (finally one vial after 70+ fractals).
Of course damage with GS is still respectable, I’m not saying it’s a terrible weapon. Eviscerate isn’t the only reason to use axe/mace as you can see from my post.
Well, you actually made it sound like GS has nothing to bring (“don’t waste your time with GS”).
Sure, it’s great that your team-composition gives you plenty of Might. That doesn’t happen on average teams. Also Mace 5 is not that great unless as you said have someone to pull them all together (+ not much reason to remove Defiant anyways). Vulnerability is nice if your team can also do good damage.
+ GS has extra dodge.
53 fractals done, still no vials. Looks like I won’t be crafting anything in near future.
If reviving doesn’t work that means you have just prevented him from bleeding out.
True, if you have one downed player near you and can revive risk free then banner is useless. But when half of the team is down in AoE effects and you are nearly dead it is a real life-saver.
Also dropping it on fire-field gives nice DPS boost for the team.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
Eviscerate is ok but not that good reason to use Axe over GS. In my opinion damage you can do with GS skills 2,3,4 is quite respectable.
In pug teams you really can’t expect to get that much out of your utility anyways.
Just saying X is better than Y is quite bold because there are lot of different factors.
It works normally. It actually HEALS DOWNED players when hitting ground. Poisoned low health players won’t rally.
I only care about Ascended because of Agony. Current items won’t make you that much more powerful.
Timer just needs more time on lower levels to match other fractals on difficulty.
The RNG has been really “fun” so far. With about same runs all my friends have 2-5 vials while I’m still at zero. Though I got one Molten Core and few Glacier Cores while they get all kind of Lodestones.
RNG is RNG but would hate get blocked because of it.
If you get at least one guy who speaks English it gets much much easier.
glitch and solo, trolol!
Bit worried but willing to see how it plays out.
If you have only 3 you want to play then your odds are fairly low. However if there are few which you just can’t complete then it becomes an issue.
Yeah just same thing popped on my mind.
On phase 1 spend 2 minutes learning infection animation and then just dodge it. Then some melees on Lupicus when it roars to kill Locusts before they can even move. Phase 1 should take about 2 minutes (+ 2 for learning).
Or just be bad and stack all players on one position, don’t dodge and pew pew.
(edited by Wethospu.6437)
Soldier runes for shouts are always a good choice.
