I have a cleric ele running 0/10/0/30/30 being a babysitter in dungeon groups. I’ve been getting bored with the staff lately and want to try something new. I still want to bring team wide utility though. right now I’m looking at dagger/focus combo. The dagger mainhand to do some melee things and make use of my healing power with cone of cold. The focus, well, I just like a lot of the focus skins XD swirling winds and the 2 earth skills do appear to be decent utilities.

Is there something else I should know about weapon support skills?

I personally see no problem with precursors being around 400-500g since afterall, they are supposed to take time and dedication and not be an instant gratification item.

400-500g is a bit high, I can deal with it if an npc sells them. people have been put off by the constant increase in prices. Like the colossus is now 750g or something last time i checked.

Having a goal to work for is not a bad idea even if it takes a long time. When the goal seems to be further away every time you look at it (especially when someone is benefiting from your effort), that is just frustrating.

yup it should be the daily reset time on saturday (US time) or sunday (oceanic time). Sometimes my sense of time is completely out of the window trying to keep up with all the timezones…

I created a signup sheet on skychef’s site for P1 this weekend. It should be at the time where the weekends of american and oceanic timezones overlap. come sign up if interested

lupi is fine imo, when not familiar with his mechanics and animations just treat the fight as a survival test rather than dps.

One thing i would like changed is: since rez rushing is no longer possible, can er please have a waypoint close to GL? Just a convenience thing.

I believe OP is talking about something like the harpy fractal, where they seem to have very long range (>1200) and always attacking, crippling, and knocking you down platforms. Sometimes when you finally manage to get in range they are invulnerable but you still take damage from it. Only thing you can do is block/tank the damage for like 5 seconds until they finally start to deal damage.

Also like the poster above me, underwater combat is really annoying how some mobs just automatically go invul then reset out of no reason even when you fight exactly at where they spawn.

did a couple of arah runs in the weekend, had to reject lots of pm’s because my whole guild is still trying to find the best strategies for those bounties (we are a smallish guild so yeah…) so I was helping out for the most part.

Anyways, i’m thinking about using something like a free blog site to create some sort of sign up sheets and create groups for each day so people just have to pm those they are grouped with. I can probably try do that but I won’t be able to maintain it everyday because sometimes RL gets in the way

I am considering setting up a run for path 1 and 4, anyone interested? Will most likely be available this weekend, oceanic timezone

I was about to post the exact same thing, those symbols hit far too hard. There is not much players can do about ground targetted aoe’s aside from protections and heals. But when there is a whole horde of them the npcs just get bursted down before these risen nobles even render. All we here is the audio (similar to the healing glyph audio) and see the morale bar drop from 100 to 1%

good idea, if you’re available for a group invite, change your status to LFG, so ppl can just invite (or pm first) those ppl with blue icons next to them. I don’t think there is anything useful about those status icons other than that.

on a more serious note, lupi and alphard (when you let her do the spinning one shot thing) are both pretty exciting fights.

I would love to have a system where we can get a fraction of the tokens back, which will also solve the problem with those useless superior soulbound runes

I think one thing that is noteworthy is that a lot of us are willing to take Arah newcomers as long as they are willing to listen and learn

Same here as gear, I have a ton of them as well and to make it brief, get them in this order
-Knights
-Clerics rings and neck
-Berserkers
-Magi

These are all crafted and the reason why I think you should go for knights is that is maximizing your survivability and also adds the most crits, the dps is still beyond good and you can take a severe beating.

Clerics are very well suited with the pre/vit/heal gear since it lacks pover and clerics has that. But you just buy rings and neck.

Here comes something really interesting I think you should get! In cursed shore, between Harrowed sea and Winterknell shore, there is a settlement and a karma vendor and there you can buy masterpiece (green) earrings with pre/heal stats on them. It’s the only ones I seen ingame and I can’t find any exotics in the database that has those stats.

Its kind of weird that those aren’t exotics imo but be greatful, they fit a support AH/hammer guardian beautifully. GET THEM.

In case you don’t know already, for “earrings” you can get these exotics for pre/heal

If you have karma, you can get some pieces from orr temples (them don’t have rabid chest or shoes unfortunately). for the dungeons you listed, all of them except for arah have roughly the same difficulty and length (assuming you’re in an experienced group). Arah P3 can also be done pretty quick after some practice.

You can also buy exotic rabid trinkets from dwayna temple

I’m willing to help out with arah P2 and P3. Definitely willing to join a guild of arah runners if you plan on starting one

so… me and my guildies were doing fractals, we saw the maintenance message and thought it might cause a few dc’s here and there. With the recent fractals fix we should be able to just reconnect etc etc.

half way through our third one, 2 of us dc’ed. When I reconnected I found myself in an empty overflow, tried talked to someone in party, says I’m not in a party. I thought they kicked me, so i tried talking to them in guild chat, says I’m not in a guild. I started panicking and starts pm’ing my guildies in my friend list, got no replies. Then i found out my status is stuck on “offline,” I can try changing it but it will still be stuck as offline. I in game mailed my guildies and said they can’t reply to my pms cos I’m offline. After relogging around 3 more time, then everything becomes normal again. Guild and party and such. Oh and our fractal instance booted everyone out and resetted but that’s another can of worms…

Just wondering if this is “normal”? As in, when i’m warned about “connectivity issues,” is this the type of stuff I should expect?

I have experienced the same thing but I’m not sure if there is a simple solution to this… (other than an in-game team forming interface, which I don’t see in the near future)

I don’t know much about ranger and necros but when anet release more underwater content, engineers will shine

sometimes he gets stuck, in a similar way to the gorilla boss in arah. having someone walk up to his face gets him unstuck most of the time

Do the etched weapons in the recipe have to be of the particular model shown in the crafting interface or can it be any etched weapon of the relevant variety? for example, if I want to make a corrupted dagger, there are lvl 70 and 80 variants of etched daggers and with different sigils available on tp. Will they all be able to make a corrupted dagger skin?

lol I guess its a good thing I never played gw1. Most players I know who did seem to find it difficult to enjoy gw2

I like to express my interest in doing Arah P4.
2 of my toons are suitable for the simin fight I believe:
-AH hammer guardian, using my SE hammer I have 2.8k atk, 50% crit, 30% crit damage without food. I plan to get all the berserker ascended trinkets to replace my current knight ones to pack a stronger punch.
_ Glass cannon’ish mesmer, all gear are zerkers except for the armor which are straight from the lyssa temple. Only made this alt for fun but if she can contribute more to completing this dungeon I will definitely use it.

My free days are weekends but they are actually fridays and saturdays in US timezones. I have only did P2 and P3 before, but I have done them many times. I am on Dragonbrand, a US servers.

I wouldn’t say I’m a very skilled player but I can follow instructions.

I had exactly the same feeling when I first started doing fractals. After doing it several time I don’t find it as bad anymore. It fun reflecting all those bombs into his face and see those pretty numbers pop up, or laugh at them when they stun themselves trying to heal.
What I hate about that fractal is everything before the boss. All dredges have protection + regen + might buffs just made everything extremely tedious.

just did a lvl 10 fractal run and 4 of my party members (including me) kept dcing throughout the run. At least in my case, it isn’t a user issue. My internet has been fine. On one instance I dced, my team finished the boss, I reconnected, dead and didn’t get the option to revive. My team kindly revived me but the chest has disappeared. Its no big deal since the chest would only contain 6 tokens and some blue/green (judging by recent runs) but its still pretty annoying to miss out on some reward.

for all the thieves and eles I’ve ran with, they are either the best babysitters, or those who get 2 shot downed by every single mob. Its much more obvious to see whether they know what they are doing imo.

I feel the same way, it felt like when i try to survive maw’s agony, my signet of resolve can only compensate for 1-2 ticks at lvl 10

thanks for the responses guys, I might just need more practice. and yes the evades do feel a bit wonky at times.

While I’m still farming lvl 10 dailies for those pristine tokens, I am getting the hang of dealing with most bosses’ agony attacks… except for the asura at the end of the harpy fractal. I tried blocking them with wall of reflection and spirit shield but sometimes they still sneak through and eventually down me with agony ticks. I also tried kiting him around those pillars to LoS those bolts but eventually some will catch up to me and do enough damage to kill me. I’ve never heard anyone else having trouble with him is there something I’m doing really wrong? My temporary solution is ask my team if anyone has 10 AR and hide behind them but I obviously can’t do that forever lol

I live in NZ so latency is an issue but not bad enough to affect dodging. I find pirates in bloodtide coast pretty good for this. Those rapid firing or dagger throwing ones give me lots of dodges per roll and are very very easy to time

my pug got this fractal yesterday (lvl 10) wiped 3 times, we end up having to arrange having walls of reflection up all the time cos we had multiple guardians.

today’s pug face rolled it. My initial thought is that today’s pug is made up of better people. but something may have been a bit funny yesterday (aside from an ele who kept getting 2 shotted by everything)

I main guardian and I believe it is very important to stand my ground

maybe you can only get the daily from lvl 2 since that is where the chest first appears. If you are lvl 1 they prolly just flag you no chest

Just reached fractal lvl 10 a while ago and have done a few lvl 10 runs hoping to get those ascended rings. So far I haven’t had any dropped for me so it is quite possible I will need to farm those 20 pristine tokens. Even if I do get 2 out of a daily chests the chances of getting the 2 zerker rings would be really slim anyway. The runs I’ve done so far are all with pugs and had mixed results, Non of my guildies enjoy fractals so I don’t intend to drag them along with me. I don’t really like pugging because I don’t know what type of people I’ll be spending the next hour or whatever with.

I’m looking for others we are in similar positions to form a regular group and do these daily lvl 10 or 12 runs. I still have a lot to learn so I don’t mind people who are just as inexperienced so we can learn together. Whatever skill levels we start off with, we should be pretty effective after we learn the habits of each other and cordinate better. Obviously I won’t say no to people with much higher levels that are willing to help. I’m on a US server and am generally playing after midnight server time (the time of this post is around 40 min after midnight server time for those we want a quick reference). I mainly use a AH crithammer guardian to do my dungeons.

I noticed people kept saying lvl 12 daily, do they not drop from lvl 10? (the one I’m currently farming right now, haven’t got a ring yet after 2 tries)

upgrading only provides infusion.

as for the 2 sets of stats, think about normal trinkets (actually most gear follow this rule). The come with a set of stats, but also has a slot for you to put in a gemstone to give more stats. Ascended trinkets is like having the gemstone pre-applied but also has an infusion slot.

while I would love to dress my guardian up to look like a white mage, I think being able to transmute between heavey, medium, and light will make it far to confusing to guess a character’s class from a glance

I’ve always wondered why there are so many vendors that sell those, especially in LA when you can see a whole bunch clustered in the same area.

If it doesn’t cause problems it certainly won’t solve any. Filling up the exp bar a few more times doesn’t add anything to the game.

One of the Biggest problem will be: what happens to the end game gear people had at the previous cap? lots of people have put in lots and lots of effort to make them. Not to mention people with multiple sets. Not to mention people with multiple sets, what to do with them? salvage for ectos?

I feel sad when I’m not the luckiest person in the game

I’ve done farming my tokens but if you ever need an extra hand I am more than happy to run along.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed this, when fighting lupi with obal on your team, he controls the aggro so well that he pretty much takes out all the hard work. All I really had to do is dodge/block those roomwide spew attacks.

Simply amazing!! I can’t imagine doing phase one and half of phase two while kiting those swarms.

I think if I have the time and find a software recorder, i’d be keen to do it with a greatsword. It’s entirely possible and not at all too difficult. For some reason, I agree with most of his skill choice but I think instead of the shout skill save yourself, using the spirit shield would be superior (unless they nerfed it so that the shield dies really quick now? in that case yeah). Otherwise, berserker gear would also help increase killing speed.

I just did a lvl 8 fractal and i think a harpy two shotted my spirit shield… wall of reflections works as well but I find it kind of situational. The stun break on SV is pretty nice along with vigor and regen

had streaks of around 20 trieds with no clovers using the 1x recipe, but overall i got 73 from roughly 230 tries. ran out of ectos >_<

I’ve noticed this as well, thought its just me having bad luck. Normally i get like ~5 rares on a run of 3 fractal + maw. yesterday I got one at maw and absolutely garbage on all others. someone in my group said he got a wooden chest containing a rag (salvage item)
