I was paying a £12 monthly subscription. Now I plan only to spend half of that on GW2 per month.
So now, I am playing a far better game for half of what it use to cost me. That has to be a bargain.
Are you counting 10 months without spending anything on the gem store cause you already spent 60 bucks on the game? If not you’re actually spending more in the short run.
discovers there was a patch today
I don’t understand why the Warrior fixes aren’t happening..
Yeah, whirling axe is TOTALLY a thief skill….
How do you “reset him” ?
Aren’t there something like… THREE Ascended items at the moment?
And they are ALL secondary items — not a single primary item in the bunch?
So doesn’t that make all those Exotics worthwhile still?
…..
Overblown complaints are overblown.
In order of power, stat-wise:
- coat
- amulet
- leggings / RING / RING
- headpiece / accessory / accessory
- gloves / boots / shoulders
- BACKPIECE
Yeah, rings are totally secondary. Or maybe you think that trinkets are secondary because you don’t see them like an armor but they are little more than HALF of your total stat-bonus
your hdd are too slow. get a ssd.
This guy is clearly a genius. Lets get better harddrives to get Anets internet protocol to work better. It’ll fix graphics issues too. Oh wise wizard please gain employment from Anet.
That guy is only moronic, both me and my girlfriend have a ssd. The problem remains. Even if it were a charging models problem it could be solved with a preload in memory for the models near a certain range.
To me it usually happen with ascalonian peasants. Like they got scared and try to run away.
Lower level dungeons pieces used to cost less token because they weren’t 80’s exotic equipment.
I think the only classes without range boosts are mesmer and guardian (but mesmer have 1200 range weapons, dunno about guardians)
edit: and thief, of course
I think this is a bug if not a typo that should go here. In the Arcana line of the elementalist it says “increased attunement recharge rate by 60%” assuming you have 30 points in arcana (after Evasive Arcana ‘fix’ not many do anymore) it should reduce the time it takes to recharge a specific attunement by 60%. What I am getting is a 40% reduction in time rather than the 60%.
Here is part of the maths:
15 * 0.6 = 9So the 60% reduction in time should reduce the attunement recharge by 9 seconds, not make it 9 seconds.
Here is what the maths should look like:
15 – (15 * 0.6) = 6 seconds
15 – (15 * 0.4) = 9 seconds
15 – (15 * % reduction) = __ secondsSo what should happen is you can swap back to the same attunement you were just in every 6 seconds assuming 30 points in the arcana line, currently we are getting it every 9 seconds.
Edited for grammar
wrong math: it does not reduce the cooldown, it hasten the recharge, so, with 160% recharge rate you have (100/160) *100% cooldown —> 62,5 % cooldown (near that 40% you see thanks to rounding numbers)
Just one thing:
recharge 20% faster is not the same as 20% cooldown less.
in fact it should be 10 * 100/120 = about 8.33 seconds.
Magic Find is worthless. Nothing changes.
If base magic find is say, 10%, then adding 100% more would place you at 20%. You should see double the drops.
Just doesn’t happen.
really read the magic find on wiki. it only turns the chance of getting a good gear to a better lvl. for example if you have base 10% chance to get a rare item, with 100% magic find it’ll turns to 10% chance to get an exotic item,
Nope, totally wrong.
It changes the normal drop %
If item X has 1% chanche to drop from mob Y , with 150% Magic find you’ll have 2,5% chanche to drop item X from mob Y (1% plus 150% of 1% that is another 1,5%)
The biggest problem here is that many people without a solid base-knowledge of statistics rage on the forum claiming “I killed 20 mob Y with magic find and without and it doesn’t change anything!!!!111!!one!!1”
Unless your count of kills is around the thousands of samples you can’t say anything about it working as intended (or not working as intended)
By the way, I think that some site should seriously try to implement drop tables for monsters…
You can log in at the highest difficulty unlocked by EVERY member of your party.
If someone in your party doesn’t have difficulty level 2 you can only do difficulty level 1.
You are implying that my party can fall to their death. This is not the case. They will incur repair costs.
…if only they could at least remove their armor….. oh, wait…
Ahahahah, for a moment I thought someone was serious about this….. unfortunately axe is still a bad weapon
Slot 2 options are
- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blood_Is_Power or http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrosive_Poison_Cloud (weakness doesn’t matter for your build, powerdamage is insigificant anyway) for dueling.
- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrosive_Poison_Cloud or http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Corruption against bunker builds
- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Power against condition heavy teams
- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Darkness against powerheavy teams
I get your point but necros aren’t so OP to be able to use 4 utilities.
I don’t understand blood is power and poison cloud when you say that power damage is insignificant: wich stat do you push on armor/trinkets? condition damage and toughness?
Traits/skills are only half of a build
I don’t agree on mastering more than 2 professions on a single charcater to be honest. Everybody can have all the crafting on a single character making it less unique.
People to begin with can simple toss 2 crafts on every char , that includes lvl 2 alts they just made , for no loss. So less unique? not really , there is this easy system to master all 8 with 0 cost to change.
yes, and log-in / log-out every time you need something. Doable for hardcore, most casual are so lazy that this alone can stop them from doing all the crafting profession.
Also it’s too easy to master a crafting profession (I forgot to wrote it before)
*Killing the mobs as intended? Yes.
I’d just like to confirm this statement. Killing everything is entirely doable with a good team.
My group usually kills it at 92% or so and then proceed to /dance with Magg.
Any particular group composition / armor/trait settings ? Just to understand how you managed to do it.
…Makes coffee
…do the laundry
seriously are you trying to fool us saying it’s youtube fault? LOL
You were attracthed to gw2 because of CRAFTING? of all the thing????
This would be a great idea. No new tier of equipment trying to camouflage it with “you need them for the infusion slot”.
I’m playing this game because I don’t wanna chase another “top equipment” every couple of months.
In GW1 infusion was a totally different thing and you could do it on every armor.
I don’t agree on mastering more than 2 professions on a single charcater to be honest. Everybody can have all the crafting on a single character making it less unique.
TI will use my example, like I said I am level 80 and I still haven’t finish the Ascalon Catacombs in Explore Mode and I will love to go back and finish all the paths but in reality for what? To get a visual gear with no attributes better than what I have right now?
Yes. If you actually informed yourself on the game you bought before buying it.
It was clearly stated that getting to top level with top equipment wasn’t a long journey and that the rarest equipment would be just a cosmetic upgrade.
Let me turn it this way: I will love to go back to any dungeons and finish all the paths but for what? To get another piece of equipment with only a couple of points better than the one I have? And repeat it just for stats after a couple of months?
No thanks, I prefer actual content instead of fake one like a “new top equipment”.
tier 3 rare ones already costs 120 golds, for a tier 4 I’d need to sell a kidney on black market….
Are you really expecting it to happen now? After a month?
Is it possible to complete this event without the death of the entire team?
With no one dying? Yes.
Killing the mobs as intended? No.
…. and the entire kaboomium event could be skipped by climbing the ledges next to the final gate.
All these methods that made the run more efficient compared to all the other dungeons were soon fixed by the developers.
It wasn’t “more efficient”, it totally bugged out the final boss. It was so clearly a bug abusing that my team always did the event after seeing once this bug.
….the repair cost in Guild Wars 2 is fairly low, and it is not a serious issue in any way,
Are you kidding? repair cost is low only if you don’t wear an armor O_o
Honestly to me path 1 is easier and faster (15-20 minutes with a good team).
just keep poisoning the last boss.

The choiches you made on character creation affects only the story until level 20.
From 20 to 30 it is based on your race.
From 30 to 50 it’s based on your order.
From 50 to 80 it’s the same for everyone (you still make some choiches but everyone can make the same choiches. they doesn’t depend from race or anything else)
I cant wait for this now. I will use this to my advantage in PvP to kick butt and all those who dont have the time will be left behind.
Exit the grind for looks enter the grind for power. About time Anet however my old guildies still arent coming back.
Anet explicitly stated in their manifesto that the only grind would be for looks and not for end game stats. Now they’re breking that promise.
In this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Accidently-bought-armor/first#post662928
CC Eva from ANET wrote this:
“Hello Zoid.
Yes, there are other players like you who accidentally bought items that they did not need. In these cases, I am afraid, Customer Support does not do refunds as the purchase was the player´s mistake and not something created or cause by a bug or internal error. In this respect, some players have already suggested a confirmation popup system when purchasing in the Suggestion subforum.
we proceed now to close the thread.
Thanks for your understanding.”
As that topic (as every other “bought not wanted things”) has been closed right after an answer that does not helps with a similar problem of other people and I can’t ask for more clarification I need to open another similar topic.
The superior runes from dungeon vendors doesn’t mention “soulbound” in the vendor tooltip, but they’re in fact soulbound on acquire.
Me and some other players bought this items on wrong characters but it isn’t obviously a player’s mistake.
CC Eva wrote “Customer Support does not do refunds as the purchase was the player´s mistake and not something created or cause by a bug or internal error.”
So: does Customer Support DO refunds if the purchase is causef by an interal error (wrong tooltip) as in my case?
Please, don’t say “contact customer support” as I (and others) did it and they said to us “sorry, no refund for wrong purchase” but this “wrong purchase” was caused by an error from ANET.
I wanted to ask this in one of these “wrong buy” topics with an ANET comment in it but can’t do it because they’re closed as soon as an ANET comment is posted.
p.s. english is not my mother language
I think most of players complaining about the dungeons didn’t understand one thing about them: they’re not meant for AVERAGE player, they’re ENDGAME content.
And some of them are actually too easy as endgame content.
About the Elementalist: if you have less than 15k of health you’re asking to be oneshotted by most mobs. If you convert toughness points into equivalent health point point you can find that until ~15k-16k of health you need vitality unless you have an high healing power with permanent regen (signet of restoration and water trait).
About an elementalist complaining about Kholer: keep looking at him, Skill 3 of Earth Staff and learn to dodge when it is on cooldown…. with it you need less than half the dodges needed by other classes, how can anyone complain about it?? If you have the teleport utility you can also teleport away before being shotted by his attacks when he catches you (unless you’re full berserk)
This is nonsense. Thief IS weak in PvE.
I fixed this phrase for you.
And even if he was weak in PvE the most stupid thing would be to make it imba in PvP.
I never said to make it imba in PvP as it would be stupid.
You approve it’s bugged, but say it’s not a problem. If there is a bug it shall be fixed.
Read CAREFULLY what I wrote: I didn’t say “it’s not a problem”.
It’s not weakening the class, it’s fair and balanced game.
Balancing it’s ok. Nerfing because some people got a beat from one is not.
It’s a THIEF:
It has low health and many single target skills. If you remove the damage and shorten the stealth (And I’m talking about the correct stealth duration, not the bug for perma-stealth that should be fixed) it doesn’t have nothing anymore, except for a medium armor.
It will became : medium armor, low health, medium damage, no serious AOE, no survivability…. are you guys serious? Will you be ok with a class with no strong points and only donwsides?
You can also watch out for the particles effects on thieve’s skills to find them easily.
My primary characters are an elementalist and a necromancer but I also made a thief to try it: in PVE it’s really hard to play, if it is “balanced” anymore by weakening this class it becomes barely playable without an help.
He has the same hit point of an elementalist with just a bit more armor but without his long range attacks and without really effective AOE. Killing more than 1 monster becomes every time “an epic battle for your life”. The only problem I see it’s a graphic bug that doesn’t un-stealth the thief instantaneously, giving him an edge in PVP (but it’s not really that hard to spot and counter it)
you’re level 1: you can delete and remake the character without losing anything
I think this isn’t a bug: as you said in your first post, you were at level 32 of your personal story, so “victory or death” wasn’t your next story quest at that time and you couldn’t count that in your story.
It’s like writing a book till page 32, then write the end and come back to page 33
As for not being able to see your character… meh. Don’t see the problem there either. Its possible enough to judge your jumps based on the screen position and not rely only on your character, even when I was in a cluster of other players I never really felt others messed me up, when I fell it was because I wasn’t jumping properly. Granted I was playing a Charr, but my Charr is quite small, I still had to deal with other bigger Charr and Norn oversizing me and it never really bothered me.
I suppose making it instanced and solo wouldn’t be a horrible thing to do, though. It would remove some of the frantic nature of the start of the climb (when you start hearing everyone else get pulled in its rather tense), but I think the core difficulty would still be present.
I thought you had a charr/norn before you state it only by reading the start of the sentence, anyway it’s not only the PC that gets covered, I can barely see the ground in that point: I can guess where my cute little asura is…but I can’t guess where the floor is
“Why lock 50% or more of the player base out?”
Why nerfing every single hard thing left in the game?
That would make the Mad King a very perverted king. He’s mad, but not that mad.
Actually he’s worse than that
Tried for about 2 hours without ending it. Most of the times i died because my little asura is covered by giant charrs and norns in the part with the explosion near the start and I can’t even see where I’m landing.
The difficulty is ok but maybe it’s a good idea to reduce the number of player in the same run. And hopefully don’t put togheter charr/norn and asura………
They can’t do that if you are not brawling, and if you are in brawl mode by mistake, simply press time out and they cannot do anything.
There’s a bug that keeps you into “costume brawl mode” even without a costume.
Someone kept fearing me even in normal armor in LA.
It’s probably the witch cauldron that transforms you back after 1 minute.
Ahahahah, it happened to me too with my charr during a jumping puzzle in the Plains of Ashford
My girlfriend had a similar problem yesterday, try setting high graphic and REMOVE the depth blur check. Then move a little the camera to see if it helps.
The count in the tooltip is bugged as it adds also the runes of the same type that you wear in pvp
Ahahahahahah, you still have not see the inquest grenadiers in path 1 of Sorrow Embrace…. THAT is bad design
TA is just hard (but i Agree that another waypoint would be a nice idea)
I bought a superior rune (120 token) on the wrong charcater (before the account bound thing, when a path was worth 30 tokens) because it didn’t show them as soulbound. As it became soulbound in my inventory I asked for a refund and they said “no, think carefully before each purchase” -.-
I like the modniir quarterstaff, bought for karma in the Harathi Interland from the lv 43 quest guy but I don’t know if it looks good with TA armor.
In gw2db you can’t see the “flameish” effect on the tip of it.
Mock up below – forgive my photoshop skills – they aren’t quite the best, but you get the idea. The middle of each icon would be health or blood levels. Clearly anet could produce something that looks cleaner, but the idea is this.
The black/purple smoke behind it was inspiration from the guardian class.
Nice idea but maybe it would be better to have the minion icons in the same order of your skill bar (first the healing one, second the shadow, then the 2 bone minions)
I though the exact same thing when I retrieved my lost sister from a centaur camp (she was a seraph in my personal story):
“Hi long time no see”
“Hi you too”
End of instance….
……I thought “probably you will see more later about your relationship with her” and you never get to see nor hear about her again…..
Then the story jumps abruptly into the Orders.
… The only part we run is the scepter piece collection event on Hodgin’s path because that’s the easiest way to approach it and arguably less dangerous than trying to fight all of the scavengers….
This.
Stop skipping mobs that are IN your path (I think it’s ok to skip mobs that are not in your path, there are some in some dungeons) and when you’re clearing the dungeon in less than the DR system kick-in time I’m going to agree with you.
If you skip mobs you’re still speed-clearing and this system is made to stop it.
p.s. 30 tokens? the second time you do an explorer path you should receive 20 token, not 30.
In a post a dev said: 60 tokens first time you do a path in a day, 20 tokens the successive runs.
Tha same on BlackTide server last time I checked
I have this very same problem with the Ice Dragon (can’t remember the name) in the 70-80 norn map. Except that my client crash about after 1-2 minutes of the start of this sound.
