Hi, I really wanted to get Endless Princess Doll Tonic, but I couldn’t find any on the trading post so I bought “Endless Princess Doll Tonic Recipe” few days ago and I was wondering – where do I get Princess Doll Frame from? I don’t see any vendor selling those…I read there’s a chance of getting frames from Small Wintersday Gifts, is that still the case?
~Bump!
Not sure if I should expect an answer, I just hope it will be fixed. ._.
And here we are, few months later – 100 gems for 8 gold. This is getting a bit ridiculous…it’s not really encouraging me to buy gems for real money, but rather not buy anything at all.
If you only bought gems with gold then in ANet’s eyes your no different than someone who never bought gems either with gold or cash. They don’t make money when you buy something with gems, only when you buy those gems with cash.
I can understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t think company this big will have issues paying their employees just because they will lower a bit the price of gems for gold.
Being able to buy gems with gold is a feature that attracts folks to play the game. Folks that haven’t ever spent real money on gems are still supporting the game – they paid for the box copy, and MMOs need plenty of active players to be successful, so I don’t see the folks that don’t spend money in the gem store as somehow supporting ANet less than the folks that do, although it might be more difficult to measure their contribution to the bottom line.
The gold to gem conversion rate got to where it is because players are still buying gems with gold even at the current price – it wouldn’t go up otherwise. Yes it sucks that you can’t accrue gold fast enough to buy limited time items if you haven’t been saving up gems, but that’s the trade-off. Time for money. If you don’t believe the exchange rate of your time is worth what you get in return, whether that is having fun playing, or getting enough items and gold to buy things in the gem store, why continue to participate in a bad deal?
The underlying problem isn’t that the price of turning gold into gems is too high, it’s that not enough folks are turning gems into gold. The exchange is unbalanced and in my opinion the answer isn’t to lower the cost of gems in gold directly, it is to raise the amount of gold that you get from converting gems into gold. Because the gem price in real money doesn’t float, I think the algorithm had to make some assumptions about what the differential in desirability would be and in my opinion, I think the assumption missed the mark a little.
Look at how expensive a precursor is in real money even with the exchange rate being highly favorable to the folks converting gems into gold. Let’s say the rate is currently 6.5 G for $1.25. At around 40G that means that an Abyss dye is about $7.50. If Dawn is about 590 G, that’s about $113. I’d rather just earn the gold in game and spend my money on items in the gem store directly. The things I can buy for money in the gem store are far more attractive to me than the items I would need gold to buy, especially when I can play the game and potentially get any of those items dropped while I’m enjoying myself.
Gold is not nearly as valuable as gems, and the exchange rate reflects that.
+1 from me.

They did fine before, didn’t they? It’s not like it would stop people from buying it for cash neither. I spent at least 50$ so far, but sometimes I’d like to buy some cosmetic item with gold…well atm I can’t really do that unless I spend 24/7 trying to farm gold. (not really fun btw)

I wasn’t sure where to post my issue but I hope this section is alright.
As you can see in the attached picture, my warrior wears armour made out of few different sets. The sad thing is, it’s not like the armour itself doesn’t fit, it’s just that the resolution of Draconic Legs is so bad, it makes it look like it doesn’t fit. Have in mind, dyes are the same…looks weird, right?
My question is, why does Draconic armour look so bad when it scales up/down(my character is fairly small, so it should be in good resolution if anything)?
To compare it – seems like Draconic set was made in MS Paint, while all the other armours were made in Adobe Photoshop.
I really hope you will do something with resolution of some of the armours.
Also excuse my english, it’s not my main language.
Hello!
As you know there are soulbound and accountbound items in GW2. I think it’s mostly there so you can’t “cheat” in some way, or maybe so you can actually work for something instead of buying everything for gold. Well, I’d like to suggest adding some kind of item, that would allow players to un-bind some of the items. I’m not talking about event items (fortune scraps; support tokens), I mean gear (masterwork; rare; exotic; ascended), karma (drop; thimble; sip; taste; vial; swig; gulp; flask; jug; keg).
I wanted to share my karma with friends and I wasn’t able to plenty of times. After making a legendary and buying armour, there aren’t too many things I can do with my karma. It would be great to be able to somehow share with my friends, who don’t have as much time to play as I do.
I don’t really understand why green items get soulbound, they aren’t worth that much and I would happily share with my friend on lower levels. It’s not that big of an issue, I just don’t get why it’s soulbound in the first place.
It would be good to add an option to turn lower tier karma ‘bottles’ to higher tier. For example 2 drops give you 1 thimble. It’s not good if you want to save karma, but useful if you need more bank space.
My suggestion is to add some kind of scrolls that allow you to “un-bind” an item. Let’s say each gear type (masterwork; rare; exotic; ascended) requires scrolls of a different quality, just to make it more fair. It would be great if scrolls could be obtained by mixing some items in mystic forge or buying from Miyani, preferably for skillpoints.
Let’s say:
“karma jug” scroll costs 1 skillpoint
“masterwork” scroll costs 1 skillpoint
“rare” scroll costs 3 skillpoints
“exotic” scroll costs 10 skillpoints
(“ascended” scroll costs 20 skillpoints)
“legendary” scroll costs 50 skillpoints
I’m not sure about ascended items.
This is just a suggestion. I think it would be nice to see some kind of option to share karma and other items with your friends. Feel free to comment, tell me if there’s a flaw in my thinking or if you like my idea.
(Also forgive me for my english ^(^o^) still learning)
I somehow ended up with Zenith Sword instead of Greatsword. Is it possible to undo it, or to exchange it? ._.
At the moment 1 gold is only worth 28 gems. What the hell happened? Why do I have to spend over 10 gold for some silly quaggan backpack? Those prices actually make me want to buy some gold from bots or something, just so I can turn it into gems. If aNet could do something about those silly prices, it would be great.
btw. It took only half a year for gems to go from 72gems per 1g, to 28gems per1g. Wait next half of a year, see what happens.
Can’t wait to pay 100g for some cosmetic items, most of which you can only use with town clothes…
I don’t have problems fighting regular abomination. Holographic ones, howerer, have ridiculous(wide) range. Twice as long as their maces or worse. I don’t know if that’s an animation problem, but imagine guy waving his hand at you 20 metres away, slapping you in the face…it just makes no sense for me.
Hello, I’m new to the forums.
So, what’s wrong with Risen Abomination’s attack range? I’ve been doing lots of Hologram Projectors and every time there’s a Risen Abomination, it just seems like it’s bugged. It could as well wield shortbow or longbow, because the range of its melee attacks is ridiculous. Each time I end up getting hit, because I just can’t predict that weird pattern. I don’t even expect to get hit. There’s no indicator of any ‘wave’ created by monster’s attack…so it just looks like I’ve been struck by the air. That event will probably end soon anyway, but it would be nice to fix it somehow.
