glad i got mine during the first halloween event……..also prefer it to Final Rest (sometimes simple is better)

If you say so. Personally, I think so many people want it because it has a high price tag on it and is rare. It looks…well just as you said – “simple”. I don’t see too many people going for standard greatsword skin, even though it’s “simple” and looks pretty nice. =)

edit 3 (in story form): Lemark wasn’t much of a haggler. the merchant had taken almost every copper he owned, but it was worth it. He was positive this time, no more fakes, no more copies, forgeries or lies, this was it. He could feel it, sinister…ghostly, it felt weird to hold, but he didn’t care, his journey was one quarter complete.

Where’s Edit 2, John? Did the evil skritts take it? =(

Also, since it’s one quarter complete, I guess it’s a Gift of Something after all. =3

Idea for obtaining Precursors

I like the idea. At least the crafting process. I think “Gift of Precursor” is a bit silly though. XD

the name or the material requirement? I did the materials that high because it is still a precursor. The drop rate is severely small, so the requirement for making one should be crazy (although higher than that would not be outside of the realm of possibility). If it’s just the name thats silly, well, i couldnt think of anything better to name it.

I meant the name. =)

I would like to throw 4 Anet Developers into the Mystic Toilet.

Would that make one super developer? Although the idea is….interesting…the question is: Do we want to sacrifice 4 great devs for 1 better dev? Even if we did, I can’t think of anyone I would want to give up. :P

There is a rumor that there are more than one John Smith… Maybe that’s it!
We throw in John Smith + John Smith + John Smith + John Smith and we get Back “JOHN SMITH” the ultimate John Smith…

LOL

The multiple John Smiths must be his horcruxes, so by combining them into the forge, we will get the original John Smith back, and then he can once again come back on the forums and put those who think they know what they are talking about back into their place. :P

Maybe John Smith is an AI, like in the Matrix…

Idea for obtaining Precursors

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Yoroiookami.3485

Yoroiookami.3485

I had an idea for obtaining an item from the mystic forge through actually crafting it instead of throwing random weapons into it.

The first ingrediant would be an ascended weapon that corresponds to the weapon you want (EX: you use an ascended longbow to get Leaf of Kudzu, you use a greatsword to get dawn/dusk). The second would be a new item: Gift of the Precursor. The recipe would be purchased from the mystic forge attendant for the usual 10 gold. It would be crafted from 15 Deldrimor Ingots, 15 Spiritwood Planks, 15 Elonian Leather Squares, and 15 Bolts of Damask. It would be availible to all 8 crafting professions at level 450 (obviously cooking and jewelcrafting cant make it yet). The third ingrediant would be 100 Exotic Luck Essence. The fourth would be 100 ectos.

The prices of precursors would probably decline if this were implemented, but i dont think rares/exotics/ectos/crystal dust would decline much from this due to the ecto requirement and the fact that people would still use the old method if exotics declined in price by much.

If crafting an exotic from ascended materials/weapons bothers anyone, perhaps precursors could have their own color for the name (red maybe?) and have their stats buffed to ascended level to compensate.
Thoughts?

I like the idea. At least the crafting process. I think “Gift of Precursor” is a bit silly though. XD

My friend: First few tries in Mystic Forge using random rare weapons/armor pieces, 2 precursors…one of them being Dusk…

If you ask me, all of those “you have higher chances if you use only the weapons of the same type” and “only if you use weapons” aren’t true. Sure it makes logical sense, but in practice – it doesn’t really matter. It’s pure luck/RNG.

Why are we still playing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yoroiookami.3485

I started playing GW1, because is seemed cool. I stayed and bought Factions, Nightfall, and EotN because Anet grasped and suitably represented an ideal that had seemed to have long been forgotten by society in general.

That NO, not “everything” needs to be decided by money. That you owe your loyal players a reciprocated loyalty, and make visible, palpable, amends when a mistake is made, and you talk to them in a serious manner, and take none of their ideas for granted. That your responsibility to the craft of the game does not end once the money hits the counter. That intentional mediocrity for the sake of profit is not acceptable.

GW 2 placed a fresh face on a game I loved, better graphics, more freedom, more immersion; and at the start, those same ideals, steadfastly in place. Now. I increasingly question why, or even IF I want to play anymore. The graphics are still good, the freedom to roam is still there, the immersion is a little worn, due to time. But the ideals. The ideals that made me a player, fan, and customer; are dead.

I don’t know when or why, but someone killed them.

So maybe I keep playing for the vain hope I will see those ideals restored to the company, one day.

This. This is the truth. :I

You should probably watch the business more, rather than formulating opinions without watching the business. Because MMOs do add content when the population drops, not when it’s at a high.

That’s pretty much every MMO everywhere…with very very few exceptions.

Cause and effect. MMO’s active population increases when they release major content patch or such meaning the population’s the highest when the content hits release, but anet doesn’t seem to intend to do that. With living story at best they can achieve a stable, somewhat bigger active population compared to other MMOs between expansions ,but it’s more likely they just slowed the population decrease.

But by saying MMOs don’t release content when their population is high is like saying MMOs don’t release content when they release content.

Sigh. It’s really much simpler than that. WoW is the best example. They pretty much have content releases with major expansions. Before those expansions, the cash income is the lowest. They require those expansions to reinvigorate the game.

Releasing that content when the population is high servers no purpose, because it’s not going to get MORE players. That’s their formula and it works for them.

Guild Wars 2 releases smaller patches more often. Why? Because that keeps players coming back to the game more often. You can see it in the tracking programs. That’s the Guild Wars 2 formula.

No company can release constant content no matter how much money they make. It’s just not reasonable. So logically you hold back the big release for when you need it. That’s business.

Well Vayne…seeing things as they are, they will need it some time soon. I just hope for their own sake, that the amount of new players they get is higher than the amount of veterans who leave~

What’s your evidence? The game hasn’t gone down in any significant way in any of the sites that track it. It has essentially the same number of unique log ins and the same number of hours played.

People keep saying that the game is dying or becoming a ghost town but nothing, and I do mean nothing, supports this with the exception of their personal observations.

I think we should all just keep an eye on Xfire for the Halloween content and the new living story content and see just how that affects the traffic. Since I’ve been following those sites, the people who report the game isn’t doing well make me wonder on what they base their information.

Evidence? Take a glance at the forums. It’s obvious to me and anyone with a healthy sight that there are (hundreds?) of topics now dedicated to saying “buhbai”. The majority of veteran players are clearly unhappy with what’s been happening lately. It’s a bit like anet stopped caring about their players at all.
The biggest patches this year were:
- More gem store items
- Even more gem store items
- We could use one map and some living story
- Hmm…GEM STORE ITEMS!

I just don’t understand why do you defend this game so blindly. All I can see is devs slapping their older players in the face time after time. The game becomes less and less original and becomes more of a grind each day.
Mawdrey takes like a month to make, unless you plan it really well. OR you can spend a lot of gold on it. (Meaning – grind gold)
Everything comes down to this, which is a bit dissappointing.

I’m saying this, because I care about the game. It’s like being in an abusive relationship in which you put your most effort into loving the game, but it keeps b*tchslapping you.
That’s at least how I feel.

So yeah, I do hope that it was at least worth it for the new players.

I think I’ve mentioned it once already somewhere. It would be a nice addition. A way to save your trait combinations!

Second that. There’s literally nothing to do for me anymore. The fact that there’s a gold wall behind everything doesn’t help. My latest dissappointment was Mawdrey… :I

Boomerang. Atlatl. Blowpipe. Brass knuckles (Kilroy!). Bullwhip (yakwhip?).

Heck, why not the classic ray gun. Seems like something an enterprising asura might create. With crystal power packs that store magical energies which can be released as beams of varying effect based on which focusing lenses are used (kinda like engi kits, maybe). “Blah blah scepter and staff blah blah.” Well, blah blah right back. New animations, new skills, something at least visually different.

New racial/cultural skills —

Sylvari: Stuff Happening – the sylvari emits a mind-altering floral-scented neurotoxin which can cause an opponent to attack himself, or flee for a few seconds at the slightest hint of a breeze rustling any nearby leaves.

Norn: Call Polecat/Become the Skunk, which causes foes to flee and/or become incapacitated due to gagging. Or some sort of portable ale launcher that shoots ale into an opponents mouth, causing momentary intoxication. Alternately, the norn could take a big drink of something and gain momentary benefits. A ‘stiff drink’ skill, if you will.

Charr: The Red Dot. A device (carefully guarded secret/self destructs when a charr is defeated) worn by charr which produces a bright red dot. When a red dot is projected onto an opponent, any charr who sees it (including the charr who produced it) will immediately pounce upon that target, potentially knocking it over or interrupting it. Alternately, forgo the dot device entirely and give charr a pounce attack (or a ‘bull rush’ attack) which knocks down/interrupts a foe.

Asura: Conundrum Projector – when activated, this device analyzes the target’s behavior patterns/tactics and then projects a personalized psychoholographically distracting conundrumic image onto the retina of the target’s eye, causing the target to briefly ponder the conundrum thus presented. Highly intelligent targets might be presented with some engagingly stimulating complex differential riddle, while less intelligent target’s might see before them a choice of two nummy treats.

Human: Inappropriate Public Displays of Affection – the human activates an inflatable, barely lifelike significant other which can be pre-programmed to say things like ’O, Sweet Bee-derived Substance, you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, and should aught ill befall you, I shall surely keel over and die, die, die until I am dead from loss of your invigorating presence," which causes confusion and possibly nausea in up to ten nearby opponents (and allies).

Hahaha! I love the red dot idea. XD

They added the time wall there in order to push people towards trading. People have been wanting more meaning and ability to get money from crafting since release more or less.
With these new things it creates a rather clear market for crafters which makes this possible.

I see…well isn’t that the worst kind of thing they could possibly do? They should probably focus on exotics and rares being cheaper to buy on trading post rather than to get by crafting.

I’ve decided to have some fun crafting Mawdrey. Unfortunately I can’t, because apparently I have to craft the same item for 7 days. Why? What’s the point? Why would you put this time wall there? I can sort of understand that for ascended gear, but it’s a single back piece.
I hope you do realize that this sort of thing destroys any sort of enjoyement I had preparing for crafting Mawdrey thus far.

If someone has any logical explanation of why it exists at all, I’d like to know~

(And yes, I know I can buy nearly every ingredient, but why should I be punished for making something myself instead of being rich?)
