Well that’s just…sad and disappointing. In all honesty I always wanted to get at least one sclerite weapon(greatsword), now that will be way harder, as they will probably go up in price to 400 or even 500g. I don’t mind working for something, but that will just give players more reasons to midnlessly farm gold.

Please don’t do that, whatever your reason. Only because some people like other skins more, it doesn’t mean they don’t like these at all. Add another merchant if needed. If I recall correctly Lion’s Arch had 2 or 3 merchants with the same stuff anyway and there was nothing wrong with that.

My favourite is and always will be Southsun Cove. It may have some ugly parts, but most of that place looks like heaven. Beaches, springs, waterfalls, exotic plants… <3

Useless Sigils

Sigil of Ice is very useless.

I am okay with 2 second chill, which I can boost it up to 4 second.
I am okay with 10 second cooldown, which 4 second chill for every 10 second seems reasonable.
I am not okay with 30% chance.

I’m incredibly glad you are not in charge of ANY balance decisions.

But he is absolutely right. The 30% proc chance is the major problem with it, and keeps it from actually working every 10 seconds.

So it is more accurate to say we are glad YOU have nothing to do with balance.

If you really can’t see why a guaranteed 2+ seconds of chill every 10 seconds would be overpowered, especially on weapons that cleave, we should probably leave it there.

Why though? I never used that sigil because it looked incredibly weak to me. _

No, they do not stack. If you look at the details by mousing over it in game, it states the following in red text: “Sigils do not stack with any tier of the same sigil type”

Well the problem I still have with these sigils is that food gives you better boosts. I guess people who do dungeons regularly have seperate weapons and probably use food as well for bonus damage. Maybe I will try it out someday.

So there are invincible guardians and engiees who heal for more than you can deal with 2 people next to you and many other cheap builds you can use. But so far the most frustrating one I’ve seen, is this cheap Stun-Warrior. I’m not even joking when I say I don’t get to click a single skill on my ranger, and that’s wit having some decent HP(carrion gear) and defensive traits(pet takes some conditions and knockbacks etc.). Today my entire team has been brutally murdered over and over again by this cheap warrior using hammer. I’m not sure what to do, if even with my defensive things, tons of dodges, fears and pushbacks, this warrior still can just jump on me and kill me in seconds, shouldn’t it be nerfed? What’s with the cooldown of this thing? I get stunned and knockbacked over and over again. Nerf it, please…a lot. That’s coming from a guy who’s favourite class is warrior.

Whats cheap about a warrior with hamm? its the slowest heavily telegraphed weapon ingame.Besides..Youre a kitten ranger you have 30 sec stabi available !!! Complaining without knowing the game…..
Also stop trying to insult people by calling them cheap just because they are simply better than you are,and you cant seem to deal with that.
Honestly you start a thread with the name “How cheap can you be” Meaning that All hamm warrs are cheap ,Just because of your own lack of knowledge about this game you decide to put a lowblow against all hamm warrs.. Something so easy to pull off….? Play the class yourself.,actually…Grab your warr pm me ingame whenever you want and we go 1on1,lets see if youre able to stun me even once.

As I said, easy in theory. And yes, I don’t need stability at all while fghting any other setting. Never had any issues – but I only have 2 dodges. My build wasn’t designed to block 3240923842390 stuns, but to avoid 2 at most. You make me giggle when you blindly defend this overpowered, cheap build.

4 rare weapons x 0.2 chance to upgrade to exotic x 0.01 chance to get precursor = 0.008 chance to upgrade rare weapon to precursor
4 rare weapon/armor x (923 exotic lvl 80 weapons/1376 exotic lvl 80 weapons+armor = 0.67) chance to get weapon instead of armor x 0.2 chance to upgrade to exotic x 0.01 chance to get precursor = 0.005366 chance to upgrade rare weapon/armor to precursor
honestly, not that much less. If you can get the armor for half the price of the weapon, it might actually be better.

That would mean that using exotics gives you a better chance than using rares right? So why does so many people say it doesn’t matter and to go with rares instead of exotics? _

Useless Sigils

Hello. This topic is more of a request to anet to boost some of the weaker sigils. I was hoping for some bigger changes regarding sigils&runes with this huge update, but apparently only some of them were upgraded.

By useless sigils, I mean sigils that let you deal additional damage to certain type of monsters. While they may be useful in some very, very rare cases, this 10% bonus damage is really nothing compared to what other sigils give you.
Sigil of Justice, Sigil of Mad Scientists…etc. are all really weak. You can probably deal more damage anyway by using Sigil of Fire or Sigil of Air.
10% is way too low, and unless you have a seperate exotic weapon just for killing for example inquests, changing those with more expensive sigils just won’t work.
Not only that, but some food gives you a higher bonus damage while fighting certain enemies. In other words – those sigils are just a more problematic, more expensive and weaker version of some consumables.

If you’re not going to change the way these sigils work… please, at least make it a 30% bonus or higher. I doubt anyone is using these, or at least I’ve never seen or heard anyone using these…and they cost pennies on the trading post.

You can not get a precursor combining armor since there is no legendary armor.

What happens if I combine rare weapons and armour? Do I have a chance for precursor then?

This is hilarious. I haven’t seen many more serious cases of learn to play.

Endless stuns on hambow? Lets see. We’ve got pin down that needs to be dodged and earthshaker that needs to be dodged. Staggering blow and backbreaker you can just walk out of the way for, so those are 2 skills that you actually need to dodge. As ranger you’ve got evades on a ton of weapons, and just normal regen from vigor and/or energy sigils would be enough to evade all of them if you have any skill whatsoever.

Edit: Also stunbreakers. Stunbreakers are good for your health.

This sounds good in theory. Do this and this to avoid that. The problem here is, I don’t want to build my ranger and equip certain skills only for this one OVERPOWERED build. This build is incredibly cheap and shouldn’t be encouraged nor defended. You sound like “Oh right, I’m so great, it’s clearly my skills. Learn to play noobs. Lololol!!!1!” while it’s not the problem here. This is just a cheap build made by people who can’t fight…well…fair.
Furthermore, I have a trait that reduces stuns etc. by 33%, my pet takes part of those effects and conditions, and yet this guy still managed to kill me fairly easy. I didn’t see him dodge once out of any of my attacks, he just rushed and kept knocking me back/down/around without giving my any chance of defending myself. This is not a matter of skill, it’s just a really cheap and overpowered build. It worries me that you can’t admit that and instead are like “oh yeah, you clearly suck”.

So you’re saying that having skills that evade and taking stunbreakers are only useful against hambow? Ok, good luck with that one.

Also, to clear up any confusion, I don’t play warrior ever. I play only mesmer, and I don’t seem to encounter this overpowered brick wall of warriors. Maybe I’m just that much better than you, or rather it might be more accurate to say that you’re that much worse than most of us.

Or maybe you have no idea what you’re talking about. =D

you can make 100g a week by playing 1 hour a day. Fact you can make a legendary in less then a year is still within Anets expectations. So don’t expect massive changes from then to make it easier.

Oh really? Please tell me how. I’m serious, I would love to get that much gold in that amount of time. Share with your ways.

Also I think it would be best if they added some kind of recipe for karma/skillpoints/badges/lodestones that allows you to create precursors in mystic forge. I don’t really think it’s unfair, you still have to work for karma/skillpoints/badges, but you get those from different sources, so it’s not just a mindless gold grind.
For example, dusk:
77x Obsidian Shard
77x Onyx Lodestone
77x Crystal
77x Orichalcum Blade
This is just an example, but why not?

Game Updates: Traits

Umm…I don’t really like those new trait changes. I do appreciate new traits they added and I find the idea of unlocking traits fun, but there are parts of it that I don’t like. I just got my new character to level 20 using a scroll/tome(I don’t remember the name) that grants this level instantly. While I do appreciate this quick “progression”, it’s not really satisfying. In fact, if I was to level up normal way, I would probably be pretty annoyed at level 20. You unlock traits at level 30, that is WAY too late. Not everyone is patient enough, and the weapon skills and utility skills itself aren’t what makes the combat fun. It was always about traits for me, and now unless I’m high level, I can’t enjoy the game as much. This is a serious problem. This patch was supposed to be all about diversity, but it ended up in making new players bored(except for megaservers, thank Dwayna for that), unsatisfied and annoyed. Levels don’t matter much anymore. You could as well turn 80 levels into 50 or 40, since you get 1 traits every few levels now anyway. I hope you understand my point.

I would suggest to move traits to level 20 at least, though I think the game would be much more fun if anet moved traits to level 10 for all players. It would also be great if leveling up actually felt like improving…

Tonics and Town Clothes

Hello. I’m a bit confused about choices anet made considering town clothes and tonics. I bought few seperate parts and now most of them turned into tonics. Even regular town clothes turned into tonics. Why?
They removed town clothes as a mechanic for some reason, alright…but why not ‘upgrade’ the Outfit panel? Why not still let us mix different parts? And why the heck did they turn town clothes into tonics? I would love to have them as an outfit…tonics? Not so much, especially since they replace my 6-0 skills.
This topic is a request to anet, to at least let us mix those parts, colour them, or maybe turn them into outfits instead of tonics. I just don’t like them, they take space in your backpack and after you use them you can’t fight anyway(well you can, but good luck in some high level areas without your utility skills).

Umm…I don’t know how different is pvp masquerade set from pve masquerade set, but if they are the same…it’s still in the game. I’m pretty sure I have it in my wardrobe.

I have no idea what do you mean about 2 handed weapons though. You can preview them just like any other weapon.

By any chance was it a char warrior in red Cof armor?

It was either a human or norn, and I don’t recall armour. x3
I didn’t really have a chance to look closely in those 4 seconds it took me to die. xD

Also anet seems to have some warrior nerfing in plans anyway, so thank Dwayna for that. =D

Some of the PvP tracks have shards I think, although I have not done any so I am not sure how many they give.

There are no invincible builds in a 1v2, unless the 2 are both running bunker builds and are new to their classes.
Don’t click your skills if you are.
Try to not randomly dodge too much.
Make a warrior and learn their CDs(you said warrior is your fav class but don’t know it’s cds?) and animations.
Warriors have a bit too much dmg combined with cc+survivability? Yeah but far from unkillable.
Carrion is not really a good defensive amulet.

Try to be less whiny if you want help.

I had multiple matches in which I chased after engiees with 1 or two of my teammates and we were unable to kill him. It wasn’t even about aim. He blocked most of the attacks, had a huge HP regen and still managed to outrun us in the end.
I don’t dodge randomly.
I do have a warrior, I just didn’t use hammers much because I dislike them.
I’m not saying warriors are unkillable, I’m saying you have no chance of hitting THEM with constant stuns, knocbkacks, knockdowns and interrupts. Learn to read.
Carrion amulet has been awesome so far. I win most 1vs1 fights.
I’ll be as whiny as I like.

Make a warrior and learn their CDs(you said warrior is your fav class but don’t know it’s cds?) and animations.
Warriors have a bit too much dmg combined with cc+survivability? Yeah but far from unkillable.
Carrion is not really a good defensive amulet.

Try to be less whiny if you want help.

I had multiple matches in which I chased after engiees with 1 or two of my teammates and we were unable to kill him. It wasn’t even about aim. He blocked most of the attacks, had a huge HP regen and still managed to outrun us in the end.
I don’t dodge randomly.
I do have a warrior, I just didn’t use hammers much because I dislike them.
I’m not saying warriors are unkillable, I’m saying you have no chance of hitting THEM with constant stuns, knocbkacks, knockdowns and interrupts. Learn to read.
Carrion amulet has been awesome so far. I win most 1vs1 fights.
I’ll be as whiny as I like.

If we’re talking about sigil bugs. For some reason my ranger switched his sigil to sigil of hydromancy for no reason. I double checked, changed it a few times, I still somehow ended up with this sigil in future matches. XD Well this bug only lasted about 3-4 matches, but I still find it weird…I mean…overly-attached sigils? o_O

Oh thank you! That’s actually really helpful. I use Entangle most of the time, but that one will definitely work better in these cases. I’ll remember it next time I meet a cheap-kitten warrior.

As far as I know Entangle only works with other rangers. Other classes can easily destroy those vines and a thief can stealth or use teleport to escape it.

Don’t you worry about it. It’s all part of my build and it does much more than that.

I recommend you at least learn to recognize his earthshaker skill (F1)- if anticipated it is reasonably dodge-able. Also, remember to always save/use a stunbreak, most hammer warriors use a trait that increases their damage while you are stunned! So give them as little opportunity as you can.

That’s helpful as well. Most of the problem was, I have very little experience with hammers on any class. XD Stability will help me with this problem. Thank you.

Also you have tons of dodges and evades, dodge thier attacks.

As I’ve mentioned, I did dodge. He just seemed to have these never ending stuns. I even have a sigil of energy in my offhand.

So there are invincible guardians and engiees who heal for more than you can deal with 2 people next to you and many other cheap builds you can use. But so far the most frustrating one I’ve seen, is this cheap Stun-Warrior. I’m not even joking when I say I don’t get to click a single skill on my ranger, and that’s wit having some decent HP(carrion gear) and defensive traits(pet takes some conditions and knockbacks etc.). Today my entire team has been brutally murdered over and over again by this cheap warrior using hammer. I’m not sure what to do, if even with my defensive things, tons of dodges, fears and pushbacks, this warrior still can just jump on me and kill me in seconds, shouldn’t it be nerfed? What’s with the cooldown of this thing? I get stunned and knockbacked over and over again. Nerf it, please…a lot. That’s coming from a guy who’s favourite class is warrior.

Well like I said, all I hear is people complaining they never get to reclaim the temples and that they are always defended by us. Are you positive when you go to the zone that Balth is simply not under our control?

There are alternatives to getting obsidian shards, although not really as effective. You have get em by trading fractal tokens, laurels, and.. not 100% sure, but probably guild tokens too?

You should actually go to the zone with the Balth temple. You can’t rely on the map to tell you its true status without being physically in the zone.

The last advice was actually useful XD I took a waypoint to orr and boom, it’s unlocked. Lucky me. I really hope people will try to take these. x3

How has the megaserver hindered your ability to get shards from the temple? From what I hear the megaserver has brought on the issue where the temples are always under our control. The only time you could buy them was when Balth was ours.

I always guested on servers who actually do temples and have it unlocked. Now it’s useless, because every server is different and there’s no point guesting.

Hello.
After megaserver patch I find it hard to get obisidan shards from Balthazar Temple. My server was never very fond of unlocking temples, and so far it hasn’t changed. Where do I get obsidian shards if not from there? Guesting is pointless now, so it will be a miracle if I ever buy them again.

Also, while I appreciate that maps now look full, my friend doesn’t. Her internet connection is bad and this bonus lag doesn’t really help her, not to mention it’s hard to keep up with killing champions etc. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but it’s clearly a problem for some. Just a random rant.

So…what to do about obsidian shards? Is there some secret society of people actually giving a crap about temples?

Zerker nerf is not enough

Someone suggested changing attacks of some of the mobs to not be spike-damage. You have 2 dodges, and you usually use those to get out of giant attacks, especially with zerker build. If there was a plenty of multiple, smaller damage sources – that just wouldn’t work, would it? I think this idea alone(not mine as I’ve mentioned) would help with build diversity.

Yes, dodging should be rewarded. At the same time helping your teammates should be more rewarding than going full damage. It wouldn’t fix the problem entirely, because as Wooden Potatoes mentioned in his “Why does Healing Power suck” video:
- Every class has their own healing skills
- It’s faster to ress someone by killing the enemy in most cases
- Healing power gives really small boosts compared to other stats
- Almost NO ONE will see you heal them or support them, especially in larger groups

Those issues should be fixed imo, but that would require a really big update.

You’re looking at it wrong. In this game there are no traditional healers like in a standard MMO. It doesn’t matter if you have the highest healing power you can get in the game it will be impossible to out heal the damage your party takes by throwing a water field at them every couple of seconds ( 40 seconds in your case, 32 if you trait it to go down).

It’s ok to have lots of healing power but anything over 1000 is really a waste of stats as the benefits you get out of it don’t really apply, you would be much better using the rest toward something else, as that way you would be more beneficial to your party.

There are other ways to be able to support your party as that seems to be what you’re going for.

  • You can put up frost aura that reduces damage that people take. You can do this by putting down an ice field and using a blast finisher on it. Or use offhand dagger 4 (in water attunement) while having trait active that lets you share your auras.
  • You can blind enemy and prevent them from hitting you or your allies (miss= 0 dmg)
  • You can give them regeneration boons and soothing mist.
  • If you use staff and put down a water field ( Water 3 and 5) your allies can use a blast finisher on it to blast the water which will give everyone an AOE heal that’s about equally as strong as Cleansing Wave.

Example:
so if you put down Healing Rain, and everyone in party uses a blast finisher on it you Cleanse conditions, grant allies regen, as the skill normally does and the blast finishes heal everyone in that area similar to what 5 Cleansing Waves would. I can be a full Berserker ele with a staff and if everyone uses a blast finisher on my healing rain I will out heal 2000 healing power while I have 0. While still being able to melt enemies at the same time.

I don’t really understand why is that a waste of stats. My healing still increases after 1000. Do you mean that 1000 is enough? Why not go for bonus healing if it can help my team, and why can’t I “out heal the damage my party takes”? With enough regeneration on my warrior I can stand still in some places without risk of dying at all, why wouldn’t it be possible to do on ele? I get bonus cleansing wave from dodges and bonus dodges from critical strikes, I don’t think having a heal worth over 3000 to people around me is such a bad thing, especially since I also grant regen to nearby allies. I get that maybe those points could be used better, but I don’t get why. All the things you’ve mentioned sound complicated. I don’t think I will have time to worry about silly combo finishers during an intense fight. Please explain to me why is this a better idea.

Btw, there is really no need for 2k Healing Power… You’re much better using stats elsewhere. Especially with the new water trait coming out on 15th that makes healing you do more effective, you can have less healing power with that trait and heal for the same amount.

Hello. After the big update coming soon, my elementalist should have roughly around 2000 healing power. I think it’s a pretty good number. My question is – how much does it actually affect my effectivness as a healer?

How does healing power affect Cleansing Wave? I use it a lot in my build. Does it do anything at all?
I realize these questions might be newbish, but healing power seems like the most unclear existing stat, ever. If anyone could tell me more about it, I’d appreciate it as even Wiki is like “Yeah it affects some skills, and it doesn’t affect other skills. Guess which.”

I definitely don’t dislike the berserker for the reasons you pointed out. It’s mostly that this game REWARDS going berserker more than anything else.

Nope, you will get the same reward as everybody else in non-zerker gear. Same gold, same champ bag etc. Okay random stuff is still random, but you get it.

This guy did waste over 30 mins to kill that spider queen, even though it was extremely ‘noobish’. I just think that teamwork in this game should be rewarded no matter what. I don’t see much teamwork in running 5 zerkers, except, that maybe – you respect other people’s time more. Thanks for showing me your point of view.

You admit, that running a build like that that can literally face tank a boss is noobish, but can’t see why zerker is superior? No teamwork?
So rotating reflects, stacking might / stealth, drop fields that you need, clear conditions, keep up both soft and hard CC is not require team effort?
Open your eyes and see, don’t just look.

ps: I think i’m get it what you think. Lack of punishment. Without capped might, fury, vulnerability and without the most optimal build you can still beat content by brute force and as i mentioned above, the other side of the spectrum is bad too with the AFK auto attacking.

At the moment everyone who deals let’s say 5000 damage to the champion has guaranteed loot, anyone who won’t get that number ends up with nothing or with less karma/exp. I’m not sure how champions EXACTLY work, but my guardian, which focuses on healing/support while fighting tequatl doesn’t seem to deal enough damage to receive all 4 chests(big one + 3 bonus ones). I’m not exactly happy about that.

To be honest I usually am in a party. At least on tequatl. I have no idea how this works, sadly.

Btw you get the bonust chest upon participating in the defending events and you need to tag and kill a mob there. But it’s still the same. Get in a party.

I do participate and I kill some mobs in each of those but I still don’t seem to get it. Is it some mob in particular I should focus on?

Watching everyone fighting in nothing but underwear would do more to harm my immersion as an RPer than what we have now. Contrary to what a lot of uneducated people think, no one goes to battle in underwear.

No, no, I do. I get that he likes to joke around and use sarcasm a lot, but I’m not this easily convinced. I get what he means, but I still think making berserker the best option to go through dungeons isn’t that great. If someone is skilled enough to survive with berserker gear – awesome, but I don’t want this group of ‘elitists’ who are looking only for people with zerker gear because it’s faster.

If you invest time and effort in the game and get some encounter knowledge, PvE actually becomes way more easy.
Using berserker gear and optimised builds allows you to burn mobs so fast that you can move on. Every other MMO has this somehow. More damage = faster killing times = profit. However GW2 has no punishment for fail. No enrage timer, no lockout from istance, even item damage will go away soon, so there is actually no point to run only berserker. Hell, you can even waypoint back for free in the dungeons.
Sure, you can killing bosses AFK, pressing 1 with clerics gear as seen >HERE<, but honestly, do you enjoy a 30 minute fight instead a 20 second one?

My problem with this mindset is the following. You are a casual. You don’t have time. Why not run a faster build? Oh, you don’t care or actually have time. Doesn’t matter, people are people. But why you join in a zerker group? Oh, you don’t care. Sure. Okay. Play how you want. But they want to play how they want.
Make your own group and stop complaining.

ps: Zerker will be still the best dps option and anything else with Ferocity will be more inferior to Berserker. End of story.
