Thank You!

Glints was challenging solo to say the least. But I made it through.

hm?? I thought it was way too easy.

Well, I think it depends on how quickly you found out the pattern. I for example died 2 times. =P
As for the place, I’ve never played in the original Guild Wars, but I love how it looks like.

So it’s even easier and completely free to get a character to 80 without understanding any of their skills and traits? No thank you. If you want to play a new character so much, actually play them.

Yes, especially if you have multiple characters of the same class. Then you absolutely need to play the content again and again…

I must admit, I am one of those players that dont enjoy leveling grind, and definitely dont like the new leveling restrictions.

I have so much more fun playing a high level character, but I want to get my low level characters to high level so I can enjoy them as well.

I have an idea. How about a Mentoring system in which we can choose an alt that we can pass our EXP to to level them up instead of the character played.

this could be optional so it doesnt effect those that love level grinding.

thoughts on this?

Definitely would love some way to level up quickly aside from crafting. (Which is quite costy)
Luckily I’ve already managed to get most of my characters to level 80. But I do admit that for majority of them, I was just rushing to get to that level. Mostly because of how unenjoyable the current trait system is.

Levelling in GW2 is fast, and if we are honest, it is too fast even without the various XP boosters.
When the game first came out you hit level 80 with approx. 40-45% of map completion and varying levels of Living Story 1 completion.
Now you hit level 80 with approx. 25-30% of map completion and even less Living Story completion.
It seems that the same people who are complaining about how slow levelling is are the same ones that are complaining that there is nothing to do once they hit 80…..

That’s absolutely right, it’s the same people. I’m an example. You look at it the wrong way though.
I have ten level 80 characters. Do you honestly think that completing the same maps over and over again counts as “something to do”? I don’t. It got boring after I hit my second or third character, even with all the dynamic events. Or are you telling me that I should enjoy my 11th run the same way I enjoyed the previous ones and if I don’t, there’s something wrong with me?

Now to my point. Levels 15-30 are slow compared to what the game offers at the beggining. It’s not just a small difference. It’s massive. I’d like leveling to actually make sense and be fun to do. If you’re a new player – of course you won’t notice anything wrong with it. That’s all you know.
Veterans who are happy with the way things are right now surprise me. I don’t really understand how can you be grateful and happy about something that used to be much better.

And yes, traits are probably the biggest issue here. It doesn’t neccesserily take that long to level up. It just feels that way because it’s boring and dull.

I am currently leveling my first character ever, an engineer, level 27 I think. I’m having a great time, but I’m kind of a completionist and I make an effort to at least get all of the semi-simple skill points in an area before moving on. I have died about a dozen times since I bought the game a few weeks ago, playing varying amounts almost every day. I have a trait but I don’t really know enough about the game to know where the trait person is, much less buy them all the time. If you say it is because of my class, I can easily believe that because of all of these turrets. I don’t have any other experience to compare it to, but engineer leveling is very fun and pretty easy.

I’m glad you’re having fun. Traits are unlocked at level 30 I think, though I’m not sure. Contact me in the game if you will ever need any help.

Also, I’m actually amazed that you guys have no problem at all leveling from 15-30. I’ve leveled 10 or 12 levels the first day on my brand new mesmer and it was a giant downhill from there. Nothing seems to giving me much experience anymore. It got so boring that I actually used Tomes of Knowledge.

I disagree. I’m a new player and I got from lvl 17-29 just doing mapping , which can be quite fun (Cities are boring, but the maps outside of them are fun)

Well Naotsugu, as you said you’re a new player. You don’t know what was before and you really missed out. If that was ‘quite fun’ for you, then I guess before it would be “amazing”.
What I’m trying to say is – you don’t have anything to compare it to.

Although I’m glad that new players can actually enjoy it, players who tried it out before will probably be dissappointed. On the other hand, I’ve talked to some of the completely new players, and they dislike most of the limitations. (Like unlocking vistas for example)

Thats the whole point though. These changes where intended for new players not us veterans

Yes I realize that, but it also fails on that level. It’s kind of like you saying “sure we had a pie with that pudding, but those new players are okay with just pudding, therefore it’s alright”.

for me. never few hard to lvl a character.
if rush 1-80 only need a week. no rush 2week maximum. u need to find the right way to lvl.
my way…
first 1-10 run map do quest.
15-35, edge of the mist
35-65 AC p3, edge of the mist
65-75 AC p3, SE p1, edge of the mist
75-80 AC p3, SE p1, cof p1 edge of the mist

if you follow this way to lvl. always can get to 80s in a week.

dont forget to boost before you get to edge of the mist.

That’s great, but problem in this topic isn’t leveling in general. It’s leveling at certain levels. I have 10x level 80 characters so it’s not like I’m oblivious. I just think they should probably work on levels 15-30(or 20-30 at least) to make sure players actually enjoy it. It became really tedious. Fixing traits would probably help.

Hello. After reviewing New Player Experience I thought I put all of my concerns there, but it seems like I didn’t mention one of the biggest problems.

Levels 15-30 are really really slow. To the point that it makes me cringe. I had plenty of fun at levels 1-10, mostly because how fast it was and how hearts were rewarding. Unfortunately at around level 20 you notice a huge difference in the amount of work you have to put into everything to keep leveling. It’s very noticeable and annoying. Combined with the lack of traits and only some skillpoints, it makes for a terrible experience at least until level 30.

Please fix this. Do something.

Note: It’s also worth saying that most of your changes made new players really confused about things they can and cannot do. But I already said that in my ‘review’.

Help! How do i enjoy GW2?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Yoroiookami.3485

Yoroiookami.3485

Hi everyone, I recently bought Guild Wars 2 when it went on half price due to the awesome reviews and how it looks so good in videos but im having trouble enjoying it. I haven’t really been playing MMORPG except for Maplestory(which i thoroughly enjoyed) and i just can’t understand why it is fun for everyone. I find it very hard to get into the game and very lost at times when i finish the hearts. Though the community is really awesome, i find it very hard to communicate with them as i have no clue what they are talking about when they give advice.

Some of my friends also bought the game with me and we also found it really difficult to play together as i had to travel all the way to his race’s place(which took quite an effort to find) and it turned out that we could not really do stuff together without having one of us lose out as one of us is merely helping the other and is not doing his own quests.

From how everyone is saying how the game is really fun and awesome, i have a feeling that im doing something terribly wrong when i play this game, so i decided to ask for some advice from the community on how i can improve my gaming experience and proper enjoy this great game created. Thanks for reading the long post and feel free to leave your advices/suggestions!

In case of future issues, a really good and fast way of meeting with your friends in the game is clicking B, going to any of the Borderlands listed, once inside taking a pink portal to Lion’s Arch. From there, you can pick any of the 5 portals which teleport you to starting areas of different races.
It’s free, it’s quick and it’s easy.

I hope you will have fun with the game.

I am brand new to GW2 (joined yesterday) and as soon as I saw the servers I got overwhelmed, I need to know if my choice of server will affect my gameplay or friends in any way, will I be able to play with my friends on an oceanic server if I’m on Dragonbrand? (NA server) I need some info because most of my friends play on Oceanic servers and I live in NA so I can’t play on those servers… Can I?

Well currently the thing that really matters is if you play on American or European servers. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same as all servers merge together into one giant megaserver. Unless you’re interested in joining your friends in WvW(which is like a massive player vs player combat that includes capping points), pick whatever server you wish. At least that’s what I know. Perhaps someone knows a bit more.

You can still visit/spend time with your friends no matter what server you choose. Outside of WvW that is.

I don’t know that I’d say this is a good year for Anet. I think it’s been a turbulent year. I think that there are plenty of unfair comments on the forums but plenty of fair ones too. The game has made progress…and yes I’ve liked both new zones, but there’s plenty that requires attention that hasn’t received attention.

In short, I’m still enjoying the game, but just as I don’t really kow tow to the doom and gloom crowd, I don’t think it’s really fair to say this has been a good year for Anet.

I’m hoping next year will be a better year though.

If Anet can avoid some of the stumbles it’s made this year, next year might well be better.

Sometimes it’s nice to read your posts, Vayne.

Entering Tengu’s city is impossible, according to them.
It’s their Holy Ground where others than Tengu cannot enter and are not allowed to come even for visit. They could tho make them as a race which is actively met across the world, like Skritts.

Well, friend, considering how dragons might soon destroy their “Holy Ground” I don’t think they will care if some other races wander by. What I mean to say is – nothing you can’t fix with a simple plot twist. =)

Just wondering, what kind on professions will fit the Tengu? what i mean is, for example for char it’s war/thief/engi, norn is ranger/warrior, asuras are magical, etc, so what will fit the tengu? what professions do they lean towards to lore wise?

I guess hunting, so maybe ranger? I don’t know their lore, it’s just what I would think bird-people do.

Thank you, I needed that nostalgia (spoilers)

I didn’t even play in the original Guild Wars and the library was still a fun place to visit for me. The new map is also pretty nice, as it has this bonus survival element to it. (Less waypoints etc.)

So yes, thank you for this update. =)

Yeah, I demand hawt asuran and charr ladies!

Seriously though, one of the reasons I dislike playing charrs is because of this.

Yeah Tengu has been kinda the #1 candidate for a new race since over a year. We can see tengu npcs in quite a few places, so we can also see that their animations and postures are the same as charr’s – therefore, implementing them wouldn’t require a totally new animation design or armor redesign (since they could easily wear the same -though horribly stretched- armor models that charr have now). We can also see where their territory is on the map – we can see the outer wall too in Caledon forest and Kessex hills. If any new race is coming, i’d say it’s more that probable that it’s gonna be the Tengu.

And i’ll just leave these 2 pictures here, too

I really want to be a rainbow parrot person…

Nau…

Actually I would say the book more or less does the opposite, since it basically says that the Tengu have decided to flee

Maybe. You could also get a “Ride of the Valkyries” type of impression from the “take flight,” quote. Here comes the air cavalry.

That’s also possible. Fingers crossed!

Might be. I have mixed feelings about this since it tells us that they survived (we might at least see their home) and that they don’t really want to fight dragons. Then again, it’s probably a really old book, and I don’t know much about the lore. Possibly their stance on things may change. c:<

Long term forum lurker, first time poster. I love this thread

- I created 9 female characters during 3 day head start and still have them all.

- I love asurans

- I love necro’s and only play them with condi builds and minions. I don’t care that it’s not the best build/set up.

- I have 3 asura’s and 3 necro’s

- I loathe jumping puzzles so much I “bribed” my partner to do most of them just so I could have the achievement. He now checks every patch to see if there have been any more JP’s added and looks so disappointed when there isn’t one.

- I miss my heroes and merc’s from GW1 so much. I would throw alot money at anet if they brought them back in GW2 for instances/dungeons. (Or alternatively they could have my first born, their choice )

- I loathe dungeons and happily pay for path runs

- I have 13k+ AP and get very tempted to join any lfg’s wanting 6k+ AP just to prove having AP doesn’t mean you are any good at dungeons

- I have enough materials to make 2 bifrosts EXCEPT for the Legend precurser. I live in hope that one day they will introduce a way to get it without RNG

- I love skritts and dislike quaggans

- I spend at least £40-£80 a month of buying gems and have no remorse for that.

- If I go to a world boss event I always use the bobblehead lab as it’s so funny seeing Jormag/Teq etc with bobbleheads.

- I don’t own a zerker set of armour and this doesn’t bother me.

I now need a partner who would bribe me to do jumping puzzles!
