Well. Currently Mesmer is my most played class in SPvP. The damage output is nice, though when I’m focused I’m pretty much a sitting duck. Health pool is pretty low, armour is low and the heals seem very poor. Though if I can find a good vantage point I can do pretty well.
I also played MM Necro for a bit which I found to be quite good. I’m assuming that was just down to people finding it hard to target me in large fights with all the minions around though.
EDIT: My only 80 in PvE at the moment is a Warrior. I’ve tried it in SPvP but it just doesn’t seem to be very good (most likely just me though). I’m constantly kited by ranged classes, and even melee classes most of the time.
I guess I’ll just try spending a bit more time with each.
Your best bet is farming the current living world event. You make quite a fair bit of cash from it and also the champion bags drop t6 materials often.
Yer I got kicked literally on the dot as my PvP match finished, thought I got a bug with a map or something but I can’t login myself either. Guess will just have to wait.
This is totally our fault, we dropped the ball on this plain and simple. We planned to have this messaged ahead of time to be fair to everyone, communication broke down between those who knew it was supposed to be messaged, and those who were supposed to message it and it simply didn’t happen.
As game director this is ultimately my fault first and foremost, and I’m sorry for those who potentially lost some karma as a result. It is our policy to message these kind of changes ahead of time with lots of warning, I’ll do everything possible to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.
I’d recommend not using your karma consumables yet, give us a day or two to try and see what options we have available to help mitigate the issue.
Kudos for actually admitting you’re to blame.
I quite like the Vigil mace myself. I’m not sure if it’s obtainable in PvE but I got a “Golden Mace” (I believe was the name) in PvP earlier from a reward chest and it actually looks pretty good.
Not sure if it helps, but I seen someone use something similar to the Staff + Sword/Focus. He would go in, use the Might buff from staff, switch to sword and literally kill him in under 10 seconds.
I managed to get a sunspear armour drop on my Dervish and I upgraded Koss’ gear to elite. I relogged to my Assassin (he is at HoM) but I couldn’t do anything. Do I need to go there with my Dervish?
Attached a picture of an axe I have, would I be able to sell it for any decent amount of cash to buy stuff with? :o

Well, the name of my Assassin was “R A C K Z”. I’m pretty sure I have all of the Campaigns but honestly couldn’t tell you whether i’ve completed them or not.
I remember playing EoTN on my Ritualist alot, Nightfall on my Dervish alot, and I believe Factions on my Assassin.
From what I can remember I’m pretty sure I was on the last boss on my Dervish if not finished, I vaguely remember a large boss that had 3 paths facing out of it, and it spawned tentacles or something and you attacked it’s head (yes very vague I know)
EDIT: Finally got the Calculator to work. Only have 17/50 mini pets.
I’m currently on 8 points, I’d like 11. 13 Would be nice aswell but I’m not sure I could get that.

If you’re looking for fast xp then just do hearts and only grab Vista, PoI, skill points if you’re passing by them. I went from 59-80 on my Warrior in about 2 and a half days just nonstop hearts.
I’d like to begin by saying, if you come here with the intensions of flaming me, don’t expect me to rise to it.
Anyways. I’ve played several MMO’s in the past and I’m a keen to PvP all the time. I am by no means big headed, though I like to think of myself being average or maybe even above average in my previous MMO’s. Though, Gw2 I’ve only played a Warrior to level 80 and been PvPing for several days straight now. I cannot find a class/build that I can work with. I don’t know if I’m terrible (seems likely at this stage) or everyone else is just good.
It feels like the only time I’m getting kills is against people who are newer than me, or when I’m in a group. 1v1 the only class I’ve came close to winning with is Mesmer.
I believe if I stick to one class and learn it properly I’d eventually get better, but I just can’t find one to start off with that I can be somewhat good with.
Could anyone point me in the right direction as to what class is easiest to learn SPvP with and when I can actually start to see some results.
Thanks in advance(?)
Personally I think Thief is pretty kitten hard to learn how to play well. I’m not going to sit and say that I’m amazing and all that jazz, but normally I like to think I’m pretty decent in PvP in other MMO’s. Gw2 on the other hand.. I’m trying to play Thief in SPvP at the moment and I just cannot get my head round it, sure the damage is good but PvP isn’t as simple (or it’s atleast very boring) if you’re in the mindset of just pumping out damage, taking a death and repeating.
Not sure if I answered your question, or in fact made any sense at all. but hey, just giving my 2c
Been kicked out of 5 PvP matches in a row =,=
Mesmer is good, but the one thing I hated when leveling mine is the lack of speed. There’s no increased movement speed buff like a lot of other classes have and no on-demand swiftness either. After playing my Warrior, Ranger, Theif, Guardian for a while I feel like I’m moving extremely slow when on my Mesmer.
Mesmer is good. Greatsword has some really nice abilities and staff can also work very well. You can create clones pretty commonly using staff and they apply random debuffs to enemies. Not only that, but your enemies (mostly PvE but sometimes PvP) will occasionally focus on one of your clones taking the damage away from you. Both Staff and Greatsword also have abilities to keep distance between you and your target which is also good if you’re looking for purely ranged.
Well, personally all of my characters are Human purely because I like them aesthetically but I suppose it would make more sense to go Norn if you haven’t got one already. Different story and can’t beat a huge bulky Guardian running at you.
May or may not be in your price range but the Cultural Tier 3 Norn heavy armour is by far my favourite. It’s just so pretty.
I’m not sure, but a quick “gw2armour” google and click on the first link and obviously go to asura etc. All of the armours shown have footwear that cover the toes. Not sure if that helps at all but I can only try
Yes Escape works, but it doesn’t seem to work 100% for me. Sometimes I find myself bashing the hell out of the key and running around like a maniac.
Hi there. So I had Gw1 for several years but could never really get into the PvE side of Gw1 due to playing another large MMO for so long. I had a level 20 Dervish, Ritualist and an Assassin, but can’t say I knew much about the game. I spent most of my time at Jade Quarry as I absolutely adored PvP. Anyways, I left it a little late to begin working on my HoM and went into Gw2 with very little points. I think I currently have around 8 points.
I’ve tried opening the Hom Reward Calculator to see what I have (or what I don’t have rather) but it’s going all buggy and the web page is all distorted. I’ve searched for fixes and tried each of them with no luck whatsoever.
My question to you is;
*Is it allowed for me to share my old Gw1 username for someone to look me up?
*If so, can anyone with some spare time point me to the easier HoM achievements as I’m really struggling to get many with very little knowledge of the game.
Thanks in advance!
(will obviously edit or post my username if it’s allowed)
I’ve used Signet of Rage since level 30 odd and NEVER changed it. All the other Elite’s just seem awful in my opinion. I can see use for the banner in WvW but that’s about it.
I spent like all of my cash on gearing S/S + LB for condi build and I didn’t really like it. There’s no denying the bleed damage is great but I still felt I was being killed pretty easily. That being said, I’ve only hit level 80 recently and I’m probably below average at the class but still :>
I’ve been using the warhorn with condition removal trait alot recently, but to be fair, I’m fairly new and still haven’t got into really challenging content to notice :P
I really enjoy Sword, purely for the animations. As much as I loathe condition damage and the immobilise on the f1 ability, it’s damage definitely needs a buff.
Well, I spent about an hour just running around maps gathering nodes only and avoiding all mobs and I managed to get about 6g. Though, I’ve tried crafting on here before and never really understood it (even with a guide) so I decided to sell all my high tier crafting materials to the TP and I’ll farm them back if I ever need them. I still have another 80 listing on the TP but I’ve currently got 30g waiting to be collected so i’m hoping to have atleast 60g when it’s all sold.
Also, I opened 80 champion bags earlier and only got 2 rares from them, was expecting a skin if I’m honest, but oh well.
I’ve only been to Orr for a brief period of time to grab the Karma armour when I just hit 80, but I’ll look into gathering there. I did collect some resources on my way there as I noticed a fair few nodes but I missed plenty of them due to being bothered by enemy mobs.
I’m quite happy with the look of the Karma armour at the moment but I’ve seen a build I really like which utilizes the Sword (my weapon of choice) so I’m working towards that, it’s just the armour its’self was going to cost me a fair amount.
I made 2 of the mystic salvage kits and have salvaged maybe 30 rare items now, but I’m lucky if I’ve had 2/3 globs more than twice. I mainly get 1 glob or 0 globs. I’m pretty sure I’ve lost money on them so I’ve resorted to just selling them on the TP.
I’ll also look into the dungeons. I really like the look of the Arah and Twilight Arbor armour sets, so I’ll have a look into working on those some time.
Thanks for the responses folks.
This is most likely a very vague question but I can’t for the life of me find an answer.
Can anyone please point me in a good direction to get money. I just hit the other day and have done nothing different yet. I never really used a “build” on my way to 80, just a mis-match of abilities and traits which I used at the time. Now I am level 80 (Warrior) I am looking to try and get some cash together to try and upgrade my character.
I seen a build over in the warrior forums I liked the look of and decided I’d try to work towards that. The armour alone (without any runes on it) costs around 20 gold and 20 silver, my cash stack is only 20 gold and 80 silver so I am already stumped.
I’ve searched youtube and google for money making guides but they’re all outdated or simply “download <this> to get SUPER RICH” which is obviously a hoax.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind I’m still fairly new to the game so don’t be too harsh
Can you post a build link?
It’s at the very beginning of the video.
I didn’t necessarily mean soloing, and the build I am currently using can solo 3/4 of the Queensdale champs I’ve been farming.
Hi there, so I just got level 80 on my first Toon last night and I have become fond of the mainhand Sword recently. Can anyone please spare some time to give me a good sword build for general PvE and farming Champions.
The offhand can be whatever.
I’ve seen several builds on forums but they mostly consist of different weapons or are PvP based.
Thanks in advance.
They are all extremely easy to solo. I beat them all using Longbow, and I beat Blazing Gun using a Greatsword. Sure they dodge and knockdown (and whatever else) alot, but they’re still easy kills.
I actually like Flurry, the only problem I have is I find myself activating it alot right as the enemy goes out of my reach, so I’m stood there for a second or two slashing at thin air doing absolutely no good.
I wish you were able to move while using it, though it would also need a new animation as the one I can imagine in my head looks awful.
So I’ve seen people wearing these shining gloves that look somewhat similar to the Chaos gloves from Guildwars. My question to you is, is there any unique gloves in Gw2 like there was in Gw, for example Glacial Gauntlets and Chaos Gloves. Where you’d trade in a bunch of random items to receive them?
I’m not sure if the gloves I am referring to are those from the 3k AP reward.
Thanks in advance.

Go to the temple you want, log out there, guest to another server that has the temple open, log in, buy armors. Otherwise, your best bet to take part in the event to take back the temple is some time right after daily reset as everyones bonus chest has reset, pulling in way more people then normal.
How do I know which server has the temple open?
Also, I’m looking to buy several pieces from different sets.
And could you tell me what time the dailly resets if it’s not too much hassle (I’m UK)If you’re playing on an EU server, then use http://us.gw2stuff.com/en/events/eu
Look at the last five columns, the ones labeled “Temple of Balthazar/Dwayna/Lyssa/Grenth/Melandru”. You’ll see that there’s a square for each server, listed down the left side. If you mouse over each square, it’ll tell you the status of the temple- the ones that say “Captured by the Pact”, with dark blue dots, are finished.
I don’t know when exactly the daily would reset for you, but if you check your dailies page in the achievement panel, it’ll have a timer counting down to the next reset.
Got it, thanks.

So I’ve played other large MMO’s for a while now and always found it difficult to get used to Gw1 and Gw2 (storywise). I just hit level 80 on my first char today and don’t really have any idea how to gear. I’ve found out that there are several Karma vendors around Orr that sell exotic pieces that I really like.
I went there earlier only to find that the areas are crawling with enemies and constant AoE bombardment. How on earth do I get to the vendors?
I’ve asked in chat for help but had absolutely no response from anyone (not even seen anyone speak since I arrived). Do I really need to wait for people to come to get access to the vendors?
TIA
So I just rolled a Theif yesterday and have been powering through to level 29.. now I want a Guardian..
Now I’ve only just started tanking on another game so I’m pretty new to the whole aggro business.
I’ve been playing this game on and off for a while now and I decided to roll a Theif the other day, I’ve just been farming champions on the human starter area.
I’ve noticed that I seem to pull aggro A LOT. I’ll pull aggro a fair bit when using duel pistols or bow, but when I switch to daggers I always find myself the target of an unhappy champion mob.
Is there any reason why I’m pulling aggro so much? How does aggro work on this game, is it the person dealing most damage or something?
Working again. ~~~~~
I just spent a good 10 mins creating a new character, got the last screen and typed a username in.. then “please check your internet connection”.
Made me sadface.
I’ve never really managed to get into PvE on gw1 as I played another large MMO for so long, though I spent plenty of time doing PvP. In gw2 I’m not too keen on the PvP and I currently have a 52 warrior and a 48 ranger. I was wondering where people get all these great looking armours. I’ve seen websites that show all the main armours, but I still see people wearing some really cool armour and have no idea whakitten ’s called or where to get it. Is it all crafted or something?
If anyone knows any websites that shows all the end-game armour I’d appreciate it greatly. So far I’ve only found gw2armor, though there’s not many on there.
