I play AH and I’ve been playing for quite some time now. Mix and match PVT with zerk gear, Ah traited along with 15 in Radiance, 20 Honor and 5 Virtues. I heal a ton, apply 100% uptime to nearby allies, Might on crits and able to spam VoJ for Might stacks on kills. It’s great DPS, tanky and gives good group buffs.
Nope. AH DPS with full zerker is already mediocre, with a mix of useless PVT it will be outright bad.
To the OP, it’s in essence what Molch said. However, one additional warning: Once you go full DPS after playing AH for some time, it can be really difficult to get rid of the bad habits an AH build promotes. So going directly for a hammer DPS build is quite a good idea.
What do you mean no?
I said what gear I use, how can that be “no”?
Your power is definitely low
. You should aim at least for 3,4k attack without any buff for a DPS build.
Look at power, not attack.
Celestial is amazing in WvW, there are better options for roaming though.

Healing Power really doesn’t stack well at all on Warrior.
The lower levels are really fast to progress through. I wouldn’t suggest worrying about armour too much because you’ll outlevel it fast.
I’d just advise you try your best to ignore the ugly armour and you’ll be high enough level for good looking armour in no time!
I never use Healing Signet because it never needs to be used
about 9/10 times I never use my Heal signet before I die. The active is so crap I always forget about it. I’m not going to complain though, the passive is amazing and I’m more than happy for it to stay the way it is.
Which level are you?
You can use Transmutation Stones/Crystals to take the appearance of 1 item and combine it with the stats of another. Stones can be obtained through completing zones and Crystals can be obtained through Black Lion chests. Both can also be purchased from the Gem store.
EDIT: Ignore. I’ve decided to just spend my cash on my current Warrior.

I play a full tank in SPvP for point guarding and I used this trait before because of how good it was and it’s basically my only source of damage (due to full tank, lacking damage). Now it’s basically 100% uptime it’s amazing.
Hi there, are there any ways to obtain Celestial armour recipes other than TP. I know you can trade fortune scraps for Zephyr boxes, but I believe fortune scraps are unobtainable now.
I was 21 days into collecting my Charged crystals and now I have way more than I need due to gifsts, I can’t decide whether I want to drop 60g on recipes. Though, I understand the price is going to rise due to people buying since crystals are everywhere now.
Yep, I was 21 days in to my crystal collection and now I’ve got over 200 crystals from spending a small share of my PvP glory.
Even more disappointing, I should have checked the price on Celestial recipes before I started, didn’t realise they were so expensive.
I was on my way to Melandru (for the first time) and I slid down 2 hills in quick succession. I shrugged it off assuming it was a mechanic of the nearby mob attacking me. I was rooted in place for a few seconds, was pretty frustrating. I’m guessing now, it’s what’s been happening to you.
So I received the recipe for this and I looked up Wiki to check it out and at the bottom of the page I seen “Right now if you consume this it will become a darksteel imbued giver’s insignia”
Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not? I’d rather not use it and then no doubt have to wait a while for a fix.
No.
Moving Crack Shot to adept tier doesn’t alter alter my reasons for bringing other weapons instead. If I need a ranged weapon, then longbow is a superior option for several reasons:
- 4 AoE skills (attacks #2, #3, #4, F1 – all of these are very helpful for tagging too)
- Blindness (attack #4)
- Immobilize (attack #5)
- Fire field (F1 – yes, it was nerfed, but it still works fine for AoE might stacking)
- Blast finisher (attack #3, and the obvious combo with the fire field for group AoE might stacking, and in many other situations where allies setup fields)
- Faster adrenaline building (via #1 which fires 2 projectiles, and the AoE attacks)The main advantages I can get from rifle are a bit longer range plus some conditions (bleeding and vulnerability) both of which are almost always capped out in group battles, so there isn’t much point. Thus, if I need a ranged weapon, it really boils down to whether I really want that extra bit longer range (from rifles) at the cost of losing access to all those benefits listed above for longbow. Going with longbow is the obvious choice for me.
F1 is also great for Tagging in WvW, and it’s great against walls/doors for hurting enemies.
Plus, when you have Cleansing Ire traited, it’s great for removing conditions. Most of the melee weapons when using Burst skills don’t use up your adrenaline bar if you aren’t hitting anything, whereas Longbow always uses it up. Can be useful and annoying at times, but hey.
Tanks are only really useful in PvP and WvW. In PvE you really need to be doing damage, you can “tank” most of PvE in full damage gear any way.
I play a full tank in PvP (where I have almost no chance of killing anyone). It’s rather enjoyable being able to hold my own against several people to defend a node. The only problem is condition removal. Due to having to stay within the circle to hold it, I’m unable to reach my opponent to cleanse conditions through Cleansing Ire. Bar that, it’s great fun
I may be losing my marbles, but has the longbow had a slight speed increase since the patch?
I’ve mained my Warrior and recently fallen in love with the Longbow. I’ve been using it a lot. I didn’t manage to get online yesterday upon patch and today I feel like the speed has been increased ever so slightly. To the point where #4 and #5 seem to sometimes activate without even using the animation.
As I say, I’m probably just imagining it, but am I right or wrong?
Rifle is only fun for 1 shotting Zerks in WvW, other than that.. it’s basically useless.
The only time I’ve used Rifle for it to be effective was during the Liadri fight where the #5 knockback worked well on the instagib orbs.
I’ll start off by saying I am by no means an elitist. I do not consider myself to be one of the best PvP players out there. That being said, I’m fairly competent and I actually know how to play.
Now, I beg that you add a rank 10 requirement to tournament matches.
With the recent changes to SPvP where you can now earn gold, I’ve found a huge increase in absolutely awful players in SPvP. I appreciate we all have to start somewhere, but it shouldn’t be in tournaments. To me “Tournament” suggests a PvP match where at the very least teams of average players go head to head. Not where someone who hasn’t done any form of PvP before can just hop right in, then ask what to do.
I play Tournaments because I find enjoyment in balanced teams fighting it out to be crowned victor (even before the new patch). Now it’s constantly full of really bad players, who half the time genuinely don’t have the faintest clue what to be doing.
I understand that adding a requirement isn’t going to completely fix the issue, because of course, there will be people who haven’t adapted to PvP properly by rank X. I know it took me a long time to become even average after playing another MMO for a long time. Though, adding a requirement would at least allow people to get a feel for the map and get some experience in PvP. Rather than just hopping into Tournaments and causing trouble for the other people who are looking for fair games.
So please, add a rank requirement. Even level 5 would suffice.
EDIT: Apologies, I should’ve just posted on one of the other threads. I’m just a bit peeved that’s all. I’ve given up playing SPvP at the moment, it’s beyond a joke.
Back to WvW I go.
(edited by Zach.3264)
I played my Guard to level 34 or something and shelved it for months. Recently I crafted it to 80 and have been playing it since. It’s fairly easy to get used to and when you do, it’s really enjoyable.
I myself mained a Warrior, and I’ll say right now that Guardians aren’t as faceroll as Warriors, though that’s why they are so much more enjoyable to play.
To me Warriors just feel like all their abilities, traits and attacks are all plain direct damage. Guardians are fun due to their boons, cleanses and group-wide buffs.
I didn’t even read into Guardian, just play it and get a feel for it. You’ll adapt soon enough.
I much prefer 0 15 30 20 5.
Damage is still great, you bring a lot of group buffs and you heal insane amounts through AH.
I run PVT gear with Cleric trinkets. Soldier Hammer and Staff. 0 15 30 20 5. Altruistic healing combined with larger symbols and AoE might on crits. You heal an absolute ton in group play. The damage is also great given you’re such high survivability.
Oop, forgot to mention. I also use Traveler runes myself. They are a bit costly but definitely worth it. You can always use runes of Speed which are far cheaper, but 2/6 of the bonuses are pretty horrible. You gain a nice 1.5k health or something from those, but obviously the +25% movement is what you’re after.
(edited by Zach.3264)
How on earth do you get 250 laurels? >_<
I’m enjoying my Hammer Guardian at the moment. Symbols dealing r great damage and constantly healing myself through AH.
There’s no reason to use anything but Healing Signet currently.
I’m so disappointed with what they are doing to Hammer.
It’s a really stupid move.
People complained about Hammer being able to CC so much. It has two Knockdowns, 1 Knockback and a root if you trait Cripple to Immobilize. So why on earth are you removing damage?
I love Hammer animations, and I’ve been using it on my Warrior since I started. The damage was already lower than GS, but I chose to continue using it because I had such love for it. Now that the damage is being lowered by a stupid amount I fear I’m going to have to end up using GS.
Hammer has too much CC, either remove them, or implement a debuff that means players can’t be stun locked.
I garauntee you, people will still complain about hammer. All they have done is lower the damage, you can still stun lock an opponent. And as tough as Warriors are to kill at the moment, you are still inevitably going to win. Even more so, all it takes is 2 people, 1 to stun lock and the other to beat on them for free.
Mark my words, people WILL still complain about hammer being OP.
Why would anyone use any other heal besides Healing Signet?
What?
EVERYONE looking to play a power DPS build should be using 30 in Strength. I don’t know any Warrior who doesn’t.
The +15% damage from full adrenaline is key for DPS.
I play 30-10-0-0-30 on my Axe/Mace, 30-20-0-0-20 on my GS.
Sure those might not be the best traits, but you should always have +15% damage.
All the new heals are pretty horrible. Mesmer may be the only one I’m looking forward to, though.. the tooltip doesn’t say how often the passive heal procs. So, it may or may not be rubbish aswell.
I dunno tbh, I kinda like the aegis effect while wielding 2h weapons or…any weapon but a shield. The effect looks terrible on shields. Luckily our shield is pretty much useless so…
It’s a complete eye-sore in my opinion. Shield is the only one I could actually somewhat ignore. It’s horrid on the rest.
I may be wrong, but I’m sure I read somewhere they were intending to add more conditions to Guardian in future, or at least better methods of applying current ones.
I’m sure I remember seeing something to do with conditions but I’ve completely forgot where.
Hello folks. I’m currently sitting on progress level 19 for Fractals. I done my first level 20+ fractal earlier and managed to receive the Fractal Axe skin. My question to you is, are these skins only obtainable through the daily chest or can they be obtained as random drops, boss drops, boss chest spawns?
The same question for Ascended chests and trinkets aswell.
TIA!
Finally someone who said it. The heavy armour is INCREDIBLY ugly, and it is an almost exact copy of an already existing set.
Pssstt..
They are all copies.
Please keep this thread updated.
I’m not saying remove it completely, obviously since it’s been a part of the game for a long time then people will have grown to like it. Though, there’s still a fair share of people who downright hate it. I am one of those.
I never unsheathe my weapons on my Guardian unless i’m in combat because the Aegis visual is such an eye sore. It just doesn’t work. I’m not a RP’er but I can completely understand how annoying this can be for those who are.
Please add an option to remove the effect. Hell, I don’t even care if others can see it and only I can’t, I just don’t want to see it.
Can you at least give us a response telling us that you’re looking into it and not just shrugging it off. It’s really disappointing to be left in the dark after so many threads have been created.
I apologise if you’ve already given a response to one of those, and I would appreciate it if you could lead me to where I may find said thread(s).
So this thread was really a “Nerf warrior” thread in disguise
Not at all, my Warrior is my main. Why would I ask for it nerfed?
On the other hand, I do have an 80 Mesmer, Necro and Guardian. I’m happy with all of them but Guardian. I have zerk sets on all 4, Guardian is the only one I don’t use it on. If I go zerker on my Guard I have around half the health I do on other classes.
As for the “Guardian has protection”
If I’m 10k health and I eat a 5k (it’s definitely possible in most dungeons) hit that makes it 2 hits to kill me.
If I have protection up, that 5k becomes 3350. That means it would take 3 hits to kill me.
That makes me like, what.. an extra second or two?
I think i’d much prefer +100% more health opposed to an extra second or two to live.
Yes it’s situational, but no amount of defensive boons will be more valuable than an extra 100% health. In my opinion that is.
(edited by Zach.3264)
I just wish the weapons were there instead of Virtues.
You could use the f-keys to summon the weapon either for a short duration or just a 1 off effect.
Something like;
- “Summon a Spirit Sword to swipe at your foe, inflicts Cripple and Bleed”
- “Summon a Spirit Hammer to pummel your foe into the ground, inflicts Weakness, Vulnerability and stuns the target for X seconds”
- “Summon a Spirit Bow to bombard your current location with icy crystals, X heal/second and increases nearby allies (up to 5?) Healing Power by 150 for the duration”
- “Summon a Spirit Shield to slam into the ground at current location, enemies within the blast radius are knocked back and allies within radius are granted 150 toughness for the duration. Shield blocks projectiles.”
Though, it’s too late for any major changes like those now.
The only sigils I ever really use on my Guard are Restoration or Fire. Both are great and work wonders.
I don’t care if they add a new effect. I hate seeing a big glowy shield when I’m holding a 2handed weapon…
…Actually, scratch that. I hate seeing a big glowy shield.
+ you can see on gw2db that it doesnt have a casting time
Because datamining is 100% accurate? ;3
There’s plenty of time for changes to be made.
I’d probably use the heal if it were instant. The healing isn’t worth the 1 sec cast in my opinion.
I’m a little confused by those saying not to use Staff.
Staff auto-attack isn’t the greatest, but it does decent damage even with power gear. Staff #3 however has amazing damage when in group play.
Doesn’t say. I was getting roughly 918 heals on 3 phantasms at roughly 1.8k healing power XD
So I’ve literally just made a Thief and used my level 20 tome and crafted to level 34. I found the chat codes for the new heals and can honestly say that the Thieves one is hilariously bad.
I think I’m going to go back to Guardian or Mesmer, their heals seem far, far better.
:3
I don’t think the Stealth on Engi lasts long though. And I had a look at the changes to Engi on the 10th but they didn’t really jump out at me, besides the Ammo (forgot name) being usable on all weapons.
I know Engi use kits a lot, but I’m not sure I’d be capable of using the same weapons all the time since they don’t have a wide range.
EDIT: I came to the conclusion that Engineer is probably useful for more areas than Thief, but I think i’m going to go with Thief anyway. I spend most of my time in WvW now and the classes I already have are decent for Zerg, bunker, AoE etc.
(edited by Zach.3264)
Hi all. I’ve been playing for several months now and I’m loving Gw2. The problem I have is.. I can’t seem to stick to one class.
I currently have an 80 Guardian, Mesmer, Necromancer and Warrior.
I got my 5,000 achievement chest yesterday and received another level 20 tome. On top of that, I can maybe afford to shell out some cash to craft a further 21 levels or so.
My problem is, is that i’m stumped between Thief and Engineer.
I’ve played both of them for a good amount of time in SPvP and really enjoy both.
I’d love for some help on which to choose.
Some key features I like;
Thief
- Stealth -ofcourse-
- Capable of high spike damage
- Dual Daggers look great
- Great for WvW roaming.
Engineer
- Great condition damage
- Amazing AoE (where Thief really lacks)
- Decent survivability
- Very useful utilities
I’ve previously leveled a Thief to 33 and an Engineer to level 17 but deleted both to make more room (I’m stupid I know).
I’d like to go Thief due to the Stealth and a “get out of jail free card” in WvW. The only problem for me, is that the class lacks AoE. On the other hand, Engineers AoE is really nice, but ofcourse lacks the amount of stealth Thieves do.
Can anyone help? >_<
I have 2 Thieves, my main is level 80 (human male) and my 2nd is level 71 (human female). But…
Did I roll another Thief because I enjoyed the profession? No!
Did I roll another Thief because the profession is fun? No!None of those are the reason other than a simple fact that I’m male who appreciate the exquisite design of female characters. In other words, aesthetic is the reason.
Why not just buy a makeover kit? ;3
The cooldowns on those abilities would have to be high. They seem far too good.
I’ve always regarded it as one of the defining characteristics of the Engie, given the traits that synergize with endurance, and one of the few clearly intended synergies in an otherwise bafflingly structured trait layout.
Well if it’s a “defining trait”, then it’s odd that it’s also a common feature on some other classes (Mesmer would be the one I can easily judge, I got perma-vigor on her, too
).
Guardians have perma vigor also. Plus, in the same trait line they also heal when ever they dodge in combat.
Look at it from the zerk point of view.
I die far, far faster on my 10k Guard than I do on my 20k Warr.
Defensive utilities/capabilities are close to useless when playing full damage, there’s no need for such a health gap in those cases.
