I solo fine with Soliders gear and zerk trinkets. Hammer and GS. If you go 20 into Honor line, you can make good use of Vigor on crit hits + heals on dodges.

Hi there, I’ve been playing my Guardian a fair bit recently and been trying different weapons and builds. I’ve grown to like Sword/Focus, but I’m not impressed with Ray of Judgement.

In Gw1 I used to play a Smite Monk alot in Jade Quarry and RoJ was an absolutely amazing skill (elite). RoJ on Gw2 however.. is very disappointing.

I’m not going to ask for a big huge beam on Gw2. Though, I do feel that the skill in Gw2 does need some sort of buff, right now the only use I have for it is when I’m closing the gap between me and my enemy when my teleports are on cooldown.
The 1 condition cleanse is ok, but the damage and 3 second regen on a 25 second cooldown is pitiful.

I know Gw1 and Gw2 are completely different games, but to have such an amazing skill on Gw1 become so horrible in Gw2 just isn’t right.

I propose that RoJ should be changed to something very similar to the Gw1 variant.

Ray of Judgement (instant) (30 sec? cooldown)
Creates a solid ray of light that damages and burns foes in the surrounding area with each pulse.
800(?) damage/second
1 sec burn with every pulse
Radius 360.

I feel this would be a reasonable change to the focus #4 as it really needs it (in my opinion).

The ray may, or may not follow you upon movement, either way I’m happy with.
The ray could also be altered to smite a single condition upon activation (possibly lower the damage if this was added?).

Thoughts?

They care about money which comes from PvE because people buy gems for clothes, minies, costumes, finishers … PvP does not care about that much and they do not care about pvp.

When you run a business, ofcourse you care about money. They aren’t free to run.

That being said, PvP is rather disappointing in Gw2, it feels like they started it and just gave up and released what they had. For me, there’s very little incentive to continually PvP on a dailly basis (although I have recently). Team makeup is horrible, half the items in the bank aren’t obtainable or broken, and the rewards from tournaments are less than appealing.

If they were to add tokens to buy skins from a vendor (such as consumable PvE skins, but for use in PvP (Rose backpiece, ghastly shield etc)) or random dyes it would be a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Neither, but you’re going to have to go deep in Honor as that is where most of the symbol traits are located. Symbol duration increase and radius increase.

Something similar happens to me in WvW, if I try to control a ram at the same time someone else uses it, I get stuck on the spot and can’t do anything else like you said. It’s as if I’m controlling the ram but I still have my current weapon abilities on the bar instead of ram. Though, usually if I just swap weapons (Q for me) it fixes.

Perplexity runes got changed recently I believe, they were pretty overpowered a month or two ago and there was a fair few people running builds, you can try dig through youtube/forums to find a build. It’ll still be effective, just not as much as it was.

Nerf earthshaker but don’t fix the bug where it doesn’t work if you’re on a different level than opponent. Sigh.

Hammer is my favourite weapon because of the animations and I prefer blunt force as opposed to blades. This is disappointing.

I run 30-10-0-0-30 Axe/mace.

Good auto attack damage and cleave, and great for stacking Vulnerability.

  • You have very little in the way of condition management. No Cleansing Ire, no Hoelbrak or Melandru runes.
  • I don’t think that Mighty Defenses is worth it considering that it’s 1 stack for 8s for every attack blocked and you only have 1 block on a 8s cooldown.

That was an accident, I usually use movement speed.

That’s the hammer build everyone is running though, I wanted something different. Mace/Mace is just as effective in my opinion, minus the AoE stun.

Though, you get a block on mace and an extra sigil slot.

Revamping Banners

Banners just need to be added to the Warriors back, even if it means reduced effectiveness or reduced active time, I don’t care. If they are placed on the Warrior’s back when used it will allow warriors to be so much more support. As of right now I only use Banners in dungeon, after I’ve called them I never pick them up, I’d rather just wait for them to come off CD before using again.

Hi folks. I thought to myself the other day “I don’t think i’ve ever seen anyone using Mace/Mace on a Warrior”.
So, I jumped straight to SPvP and began to create my build.

I’m not going to go into too much depth here as I’ve only been using it less than a week. Though, so far I’m really enjoying it.
The damage is great and there’s plenty of interrupts for stacking confusion (even though there’s little Condi damage it’s still a help).
With the traits I’ve taken to maximise DPS, it’s also taken me into the Defense Line, giving me some extra toughness and the great Adrenal Heal.

I’ve been trying Hammer and Longbow as my second swap set, Longbow is great for when you’re closing to gap to melee, but I still prefer Hammer for the extra confusion stacks.

I’ll update when I’ve tested it more and found ways to improve it. Personally, I think it’s good so far.

Every class has the ability to counter a build I believe. If you’re playing stunlock, and they aren’t set up to counter you, then they’ll just scream “your overpowered”.

Hi there Engineers!

So I’ve currently got an 80 Warrior, Mesmer, Necromancer and a Guardian. I’m looking to make the Engineer my 5th level 80.
I’ve played Engineer for quite some time on an alternate account purely for SPvP. It’s taken me a while to get somewhat used to it (and possibly average at the class). I still believe I have a lot to learn and that Engineer has a lot to give.

My question to you is, how should I go about leveling? Aside from the obvious power stacking gear, what kind of traits/skills should I be looking to pick up early?

My other classes have been fairly straight forward to level as the “main” builds are clear to see. Engineer is the only class where I’ve had any real problems deciding on which traits to choose.

I’m not asking for someone to hold my hand through the leveling process, just some quick tips to increase my effectiveness and decrease the overall time to 80.

I recently spent a large portion of my cash on crafting on my Guardian and buying T3 gear, so I won’t be crafting much on my Engineer (chef is too cheap to ignore though).

TL;DR
Can anyone give me some quick advice on traits/skills to pick up early on to give optimum results for fastest/easiest leveling?

I really want celestial gear for my build but the 30 days wait is daunting. In the mean time I have to settle with crap gear, or buy gear and then have no cash to actually craft the gear when I finally get 30 crystals.

A friend of mine managed to get 2 Precursors within 100 rare staves. I spent my last 9g on shields and luckily managed to get ‘The chosen’ on my very last roll. I had to farm 20g or so in order to sell it overnight for 260g. Since then I’ve spent over 300g on forge and not had any precursors back, so the chance is really random.

I’ve never played Engineer in PvE, but I’ve made alts atleast 20 times to play Engi in SPvP. I’m not very good with them, but I’d like to be eventually. I’m currently trying an HGH build in SPvP and i’m a bit confused. The tooltip on the toolbelt skills says I’ll get 2 stacks of might on use, but I’m only receiving 1 stack.

Is this meant to happen? ;3

LB is great for tagging. Paired with Cleansing Ire and Discipline tree you can almost spam a large fire field AoE. Great for stacking Might also.

I’m sick of people complaining about balance when it’s their class that gets “nerfed”.

In anycase, did anyone ask if the teleport would be at the beginning or the end of the channel for Infiltrator’s Return?

Warriors are good for AoE, Thieves are not.

In a 1v1 with Warrior and Thief, if the Thief chose not to spam Stealth/Blind then the Warrior would obviously win. Stealth/Blinds hold close to no value in Dungeons in terms of winning a fight.

To put it better;
Warriors have better DPS.
Thieves are good for their ability to negate damage, which isn’t needed in dungeons. Which is why Warriors are better choice in dungeons.

That would be a bit strange since other skins are not. Perhaps instead a gem store item for a high price (1500-2000 gems) that could duplicate a skin. Except for those that are legendary of course.

Or like someone else posted on a different thread, make it so skins/items gotten through achievements are able to be withdrawn from the achievement panel like the zenith skin. If they have stats, just make them a skin.

I never really got into Gw1 enough, I have something like 600 hours over 77 months /age but most of that went spent in Jade Quarry as I loved the PvP. One thing I never took advantage of was the weapon sets (mainly because I remapped my F keys for another game). If 4 weapon sets were implemented in Gw2 I would be over the moon.

I really like the upgrades for weapons. It would create more build diversity – which is something I really miss from Gw1 – by further customisation. I think they should require a certain type of “upgrade tablet” (example) alongside the 10 skill points.

You could be given a task by an NPC to kill X or collect X resources and trade them in for a random tablet for your profession for example.

How so? the only one I think you could do anything along those lines would be the map one. Though, all you’d be able to do is send people to the wrong location.

The rest are all pretty safe as far as I can tell, to troll you’d have to waste your own cash/resources/time.

There’s plenty of weapons that many of us would like to see added. The concept art on Warrior already showed a large Axe closely resembling a 2 handed Axe, but it was never added.

Personally I would love to see the return of throwing spears. Would also really like to see normal spears (for land use), flails, crossbows and possibly a BO staff.

That being said, I’m sure I read somewhere that they won’u be implemented new weapons for a long time (if ever). They’d only be updating already existing ones.

WvW Commander improvements.

I myself don’t have commander, but I feel so frustrated for those that do. It may (or may not) just be the server I play on, but there’s so many people who don’t listen to the commander. I know they aren’t forced to, but I feel there should be improvements made to the commanders to allow them better control over the server.

I’ll continue to list any other ideas I/you can think of. Here’s a couple so far;

  • Siege placed by Commanders

When siege is placed by a commander it should have a special icon floating above it to let all the allied units nearby know that it was placed by said commander, rather than people spending supplies on a piece of siege equipment in a bad location.
To add to this idea, I’d like for the commanders to be able to “promote” people on that piece of siege.


  • Commander A places siege.
  • Commander A promotes Player A on that piece of siege.
  • Player B uses that piece of siege.
  • Player A has higher priority over Player B and is able to use the piece of siege and thus force Player B off.

I feel this addition would give commanders better control over the way they want their siege equipment to be used.

A further option would be to add a ‘lock’ to siege also. I’ve seen countless times where someone would join a Borderland and jump in one of the golems and move them away from where the commander wants them. Of course this should only be usable for siege that YOU have created, otherwise it could -and probably would- be abused.

  • Commanders able to draw on map

I would like for commanders to have the option to draw on map and highlight certain objectives. Players should have an option created to turn this off if they wish. If you are in a Borderland, you can only see nearby towers/camps etc. Commanders should be able to highlight certain towers/camps etc which would stay on the mini-map of all players (who have it toggled on). This will allow commanders to communicate better with their allies within the Borderland.

  • Cross Borderland chat channel and Commander tag in chat.

This is fairly self explanatory. A chat channel that spreads across all Borderlands. This will further communication and allow people to call for help if needed in the respective Borderland. A further addition would be to add the commander tag next to said commanders name when they speak in chatbox. This would allow players to see commanders orders easier.

The above suggestions regarding Commanders should require their Commanders tags active to use these features

750G or 2000…. That would be way too expensive! I play quite alot (8000+influence) and I have owned 150g at the same Point as most (Resources not counted)…

You must be doing something wrong, I make 150g a week without specifically farming or playing on trading post. Even WvW players can make 30 gold a day. Point is, in a game about cosmetic progression there need to be super prestige cosmetics. Stuff which I can earn in a day or two of farming has no prestige for me.

Care to explain? Forge aside, I’ve had maybe only 10 exo drops in the 6 or so month I’ve had level 80s. That includes opening roughly 1.2k champion bags. All of those exos being under 5g each also.

I’m lucky if I make 5g a day.

I really don’t know why they got rid of the build setup from Gw1. Obviously it would need tweaking but it was a great feature. Having to sift through screenshots to find a previous build I’ve used is painful.

Salvaging Sigils/Runes?

Just a quick suggestion.

I’d really like to see the ability to salvage runes and sigils implemented. With the recent changes to Magic Find, there’s far more people (including myself) salvaging all their items that they get now. It takes no time at all before your inventory starts filling up with Minor/Major sigils and runes from weapons and armour drops. I’m finding myself having to constantly vendor them or destroy. It’s extremely tedious.
I’d like to be able to salvage these. Even if it meant we only got MF boosts and no materials I’d be more than happy.

I honestly think BL chests are such a stupid idea. The rewards you get from them are awful, not to mention keys basically have to be farmed to get them without paying IRL money. I’ve only had 2 key drops in the year that I’ve been playing.

That being said, BL chests are probably a large proportion of their gem store sales so I can’t see them changing them anytime soon.

I’ve always thought the spirit weapons should’ve been the F- keys skills. Maybe to summon the weapons for X seconds or they spawn and do a certain ability then disappear, but that’s just me.

From what I’ve tested, the spirit weapons really aren’t worth using at all.

When you complete CoF P1 you get a 26 silver reward (I think) and a good amount of tokens and xp. If you complete CoF P1 soon after the reward gets reduced (by half I believe). Though, it doesn’t take long for the reward to go back to full again.
My question to you is;

Does anyone happen to know the length of time you have to wait between runs to continue to get the full xp reward?

Shield/Focus 5 seems reversed?
