You could get this skin easily from SPvP before the patch.
In my opinion you should permanently unlock the skin for free after your first purchase of said skin.
Maybe making the high-tier skins 1 crystal/use to keep people buying the shards.
This game encourages you to play more than one character, and is completely focused on skins at end-game. Gearing is already expensive, then comes skins.. it’s all very pricey.
It takes a very long time to farm this amount of money for the average player, and I think Anet expects everyone to flip the TP for cash.
This is too much of an ask if I’m being honest.
It’s a bug, and there’s already a thread with a Dev response.
It’s the same for WvW.
You can stealth and still use Siege.
I took all my armour off on my Thief the other day and I lost several hundred points in the Armour Attribute.
Gotta love these threads where the OP dies to someone better than them, they come on forums and complain how OP it is. Not only that, but they exaggerate it to the point of no return.
I’ve never known a Necro being able to apply 25 stacks of any condition in 1 second, nevermind being able to get 25 stacks of Chill/Fear/Poison/Burn etc.
Mind.
Was.
Blown. My first reaction to the OP. Quite a bit of an exaggeration.
The combat and builds in the game can be quite complex. For new comers I could see the confusion and frustration, but my suggestion is to try multiple classes and builds. With time, you’ll start to understand professions, conditions, boons and counters.
When I play power wells, sometimes people react as “omg your conditions just melted me”…but in actuality, the conditions I’m applying are doing little damage. Blind, chill, immobilize, or condi transfers.
True. though, I do hate when people get beat by someone better than them and then they complain that they are OP. It’s very tiring.
I remember when I started SPvP and I was getting mashed by a Warrior using Bull Rush and Eviscerate and killing me super easy.
Now that I’ve played for a while, you know to stun break/dodge/invul/block etc.
People are too quick to complain, if they’d just take the time to learn the game they’d realise they can only get better by practice.

Playing a troll Thief in Skyhammer.
Perma stealth with Scorpion Wire and managed to pull enemies several times to their deaths in such a short time frame.
Not sure whether killing them or watching the abuse pour in was better..
There’s no denying Glamour build is fun when you drop it on a zerg.
However, in small scale fights, they are very lack luster in my opinion, and the build doesn’t do much else.
Necro staff is great AoE and you can also trait wells to be ground targetted. They also have Death Shroud with a lovely AoE on it. The only problem with Necro is the lack of boons. Their escapes are very situational though.
/signnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
The current scoreboard only encourages people to aimless zerg points, and play solo rather than help win the game.
There’s nothing more annoying then seeing several people rush home point at the beginning of a game for those points.
Points don’t mean anything in PvP.
At the moment, they only encourage people to play badly.
I might have missed some announcement or something here, but when did they add more permanent NPCs to WvW?
As far as I remember they haven’t really added anything of that sort since break-out events and that was about 1,5 years ago.I suppose one could argue that it was the Living Story NPCs but they haven’t been there for months either. So why this thread all of a sudden?
I think the OP is just asking for less, as opposed to ‘stop adding’.
Small organised groups/guilds hitting other locations on the map can prove to be very helpful.
The first bullet point isn’t the best of ideas unless you’re the person who placed it. I don’t fancy having a single person running around our fully upgraded keep and self-destructing all our superior siege.
No buff can help you against lack of coverage. Change server or suck it up.
This comment is beyond stupid. If everyone changed server, they would have no one to play against. There needs to be changes made.
No, I need NPC’s to CnD on my Thief.
More ambients please.
So much crying about afk’ing. Maybe sometimes people should ask themselves if there is a reason for someone to go afk. Hasn’t been a problem before the patch, aka before the great new player influx.
People have ample reason to “cry”.
When you join a solo Q and someone decides to go AFK and rubs it in your face just because something happens that they don’t like. Yes, it can be a tad frustrating. Especially because they know nothing gets done about it.
I’m really not sure how you managed to arrive at the conclusion that a bunker can get the same DPS as a zerker?
I’m not sure if they are allowed or not. You wouldn’t think so, but some of them have been there for a while. And if they were being removed, you’d think people would be a bit more reluctant to pay cash/gems to get their own server and then run the risk of having it removed.
You might want to get some actual figures rather than “20k damage in 1 second” which is obviously a bit exagerrated.
Guardians are relatively clunky, they are slow and easy to kite. Also, their GS #2 can easily be kited because of it’s low radius.
Runes of Grenth are excellent for kiting melee class at the moment.
My Thief burst is still relatively the same if I drop 4 points out of Critical Strikes and put it into Deadly Arts with Revealed Training.
Less critical hits & damage, but more raw power.
Doesn’t happen that often but yes, it is rather annoying.
This is SPvP forum, Benevolent runes don’t exist there.
Comparing two completely different games isn’t exactly the way forward, but yes.. I do agree down state needs amending.
Would be cool, but I’d imagine there would be a lot of troll whispers, and well.. a LOT of whispers.
Is it bad I didn’t notice this was for giggles until Necromancer? (left>right)
I can’t comment on TPvP but they are somewhat viable in Solo Q.
Longbow/GS is alright at the moment.
I think the last I played Ranger I ran something like this
I can’t remember the exact trait set up, but I believe it was something along those lines. And as far as I can remember, it played quite well.

Gw1 PvP was better than Gw2 on so many levels. If there weren’t so little players on it now I would never even have bought Gw2.
Anyways.. Gw2 is still somewhat enjoyable (at times).
I think most classes (if not all) can play like this if built correctly. I’m fairly sure it’s capable, but as you say.. they take a while to get you down.
I’ve been stuck before, but I’m not sure if it’s the same problem you are referring to. Though, whenever I’ve had this happen.. I swap weapons and it seems to fix.
Elementalists have some of the most painful levelling in the game.
This is for a few reasons:
1) Power is loaded into higher-tier traits, rather than utilities. For warriors, you can solo half the game with just endure pain and healsig, but ele’s have nothing on that level.
2) Eles have the lowest health/armor in the game, so it’s just more difficult to survive in general.
3) They are also the most mechanically difficult class, just to achieve a power level comparable to any other class. Thieves would probably take second, but it’s pretty darn easy to repeatedly stealth on the ai, who refuse to do anything about you while you’re invisible.
As a part of this, abilities aren’t particularly viable on their own and need to be used in conjunction with others.
I’d say Mesmers are the hardest to level.
Most of their damage comes from Phantasms, and they don’t get any significant buffs until much higher levels. I know leveling my Mesmer was an absolute pain, and I hear it’s even worse now with trait changes.
Looks really squishy, but those AoE crits also look really fun.
Could you post your build please?
I have played every class extensively in PvP and WvW, and in all honesty, I do feel I’m pretty good at them.
Elementalist however..
I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t seem to do well on it at all, I feel like i’m forced to go bunker and do no damage or full DPS with no survivability.
It’s a shame too, because Elementalist is probably the class I would enjoy most at the moment if it weren’t for me being so awful.
Then people would complain about being locked out. Wouldn’t it be a hell of a lot simpler if they just made it say “Waiting on X players…” before the game starts?
In PvP you’ll notice..
If you beat someone, your class is either OP or you’re hacking.
If you’re the same class as them, then yes.. you’re OBVIOUSLY using cheats.
Don’t let them bother you, take pity on those elitists for taking the game too seriously. It’s all for enjoyment.
When people decide to flood me with abuse, I tend to ignore them or just continually reply with “yes” or something. Eventually they get bored.
Ofcourse you gain more knowledge as you rank up, and ofcourse there’s going to be people who are naturally good at PvP even at low ranks. That being said, I still think there should be a minimum requirement of rank 10 for tournaments. There’s nothing more annoying than trying to teach someone how to play during a tournament game. I’d like to think rank 10 would give you enough knowledge to play tournaments at the very least on a somewhat helpful level.
I’m not sure how the title of this thread fits with OP.
That being said, I did kind of skip through the post. Just me?
My internet is garbage and I only lag in WvW zergs.
That being said, I do play between best graphics and best performance.
looooooooooooooooooool they are ruining the game sorry to break it to you bud but its a matter of player skill. Don’t worry PvE has no engis to worry about :p
no its not and sorry to break it to you blablabla but in soloQ is engi very effective and this with just face on keyboard
Stop crying about other classes and get better at your own, honestly.
I have all 80s but Ranger and Ele, I have tested all classes extensively in PvP and they are all fairly balanced. The only class I would say is getting the smelly end of the nerf stick is Elementalists. Although, I’ll be honest.. I’m not very good with Elementalist.
I’m sick of reading posts about how overpowered X class is.
When you’re being bias, it’s easy to make any class look bad.
No, this would only encourage people to farm it with a friend or zerg points in hotjoin.
Full Zerker Ele in PvE is amazing DPS, and does AoE too.
With a good group providing might, if you Meteor Storm then switch to Tornado, you hit over 5k power.
Another utterly pointless thread.
This can be repeated so many times…
Player X dies to Player Y
Player X goes to forums
Player X complains about how OP the class is that player Y is using.
If Player Y is using same class as Player X then Player Y is obviously hacking.
The reason that this doesn’t exist in PvP is because it’d completely invalidate certain system in PvE. Completely full inventory? Just take your free port to HotM, deposit your crap, take your free port directly back to where you were in PvE, and continue on your merry way.
Btw, they’ve said basically what I said above before as a reason. I’m not sure if they have changed their mind or rethought their position since then.
Can’t you do this already with WvW?..
Not very often you see people commending Anet. I hate it when people are too quick to point out the bad but never the good.
You seem to hit both of them pretty spot on.
I know if I was a developer and trying my hardest, it would put me down if people constantly just said what they hated and never appreciated the good stuff I was adding. It’s nice to see someone taking the time to give credit where it’s due.
I have been running this
It’s almost AFK, kills people extremely fast.
Very similar to the build I run at the moment.
Excellent survivability, good pressure from conditions and turrets are amazing boons and damage.
My first game I using this build I managed to win a 3v1 at home point. Was pretty thrilled.
Nice to see a pistol and shield are enough for a build to work.
It’s not often those are used as only weapon.A question about the sigils in your build: are they really the ones you use?
They proc on crit, while you have about 4%.
And they both do white ‘power’ damage, while you’re build for condition damage.
With the Rifle Turret you gain 6.5 sec Fury every 10 seconds. That takes me to 24% crit which is plenty. As for the Sigils, with the new patch they now deal fairly high damage regardless of which build you use, they just have to proc.
I’ll be honest, Rifle is more useful because of the Immobilize, knockback and Leap. However, I have Ghastly Grinning Shield so I pretty much force myself to use it because I like it :P
You can also swap amulet for Celestial.
