As long as you still have part of the gem store skin set (e.g. you bought Braham’s armor set, then dumped everything except the helm), it will detect that and unlock the whole armor set for you. If you bought an entire armor set, then trashed it (e.g. you bought a T2 Cultural armor set for the achievement, then dumped it), then sadly you’re out of luck and you’ll need to re-purchase the set again.
I don’t.
I think it’s a perfectly valid reason, and if I had two identical soulbound Legendaries, I’d probably be pretty upset too.
But… ANet had to draw the line somewhere. SOMEBODY is going to have to lose out no matter what, and since the number of people with two identical Legendaries is fairly small compared to the bulk of the GW2 playerbase, they just had to make the call that affected the least number of people.
And that’s why we packrats refuse to throw things away.
You never know if it’ll become useful down the line!
If you’ve already reported him, then don’t send another report. That just clogs up Support’s queues.
At the very least, that player is guilty of in-game verbal abuse and deserving of a 72 hour suspension.
To be honest, not very much. The players who couldn’t afford the skins before still won’t be able to afford them, and those who want the skins and had the wealth to purchase it already have them. Any increase in demand would only come from fashionistas and completionists who now want to complete their Wardrobe, but I don’t think there are enough of these players to really cause a jump in the prices of rare skins.
On a related note, I wonder just how much money it would take to acquire every single skin in the Wardrobe… And if there’s anybody crazy/rich enough to attempt it. XD
Purchasing a gemstore item as a Gift is immediate, I’m afraid. It’s sent to the recipient instantly. Depending on the item, you could buy it and mail it at a later date, but most gem store items are account bound, so that’s not an option.
Zerg Golem Charge against a Wall! For Great Justice!
Mmhmm. Then again, you should have guessed this was coming when they took out Glory and replaced it with Gold.
No. Dyes will no longer be found as loot. They can still be obtained from Laurels, the Mystic Forge, the gem store, and crafted through Cooking.
Yep. If you currently have Eternity equipped, you will automatically unlock the following skins:
1. Eternity
2. Twilight
3. Sunrise
4. Dusk
5. Dawn
I’m not sure about the Chinese translation making it into the international client, but the Kongzhong version of GW2 is VERY different from the international version. (They’re practically two completely different games!) Chinese players also won’t be able to play with NA/EU players, so do NOT buy the Kongzhong version for your partner unless you plan on starting your own account there.
Reposting my post from another thread about how to encourage dungeon “clears”:
I would like to see more “full clears” of dungeons, but in order for that to happen, we’d need to make it more worthwhile to players from a time and loot perspective. I’d personally look at the following:
1. Currently, most enemies in dungeons tend to be Elites, which take a fair amount of time to kill for not necessarily better loot. Perhaps ANet can look at scaling down most of these enemies to Veterans, and most of the Champions to Elites (except for named foes, which always remain Champion or higher). Legendary foes in a dungeon (like Kholer) also get bumped down to Champion status unless they are particularly noteworthy foes from a lore or gameplay perspective. The boss at the end of dungeons is always a Legendary foe.
As a side benefit, this also makes foes less dangerous so there isn’t as much focus on “killing the enemy before they kill us” strategy which should help decrease emphasis on the Zerker meta.
2. To buff the loot from foes, Veterans now always drop a Loot Bag appropriate for their race/type, plus possible additional loot. Elites will always drop a non-Exotic Champ bag, plus possible additional loot. (These changes apply to the open world too.)
3. Players can still “skip” dungeon events (I’m talking about bonus events as well as main events like fighting Kholer) if they really want to, but if they complete all of the dungeon’s events, they get a bonus daily chest containing 1+ Rares (with a chance for it to be an Exotic), coin and tokens. This chest is given out once per path per account per day.
4. Introduce a “Dungeon Conqueror” title for killing every single enemy in a dungeon path in a single run (aka “vanquishing” for you GW1 vets.
). You have to vanquish all paths in each of the dungeons to get this title. (Since enemies in dungeons do not respawn, this should be feasible where it wouldn’t be in the open world. Certain dungeons like Arah where enemies DO respawn are changed so enemies are finite.)
As fun as it might be to have something like EotM’s super cannon in SMC, I think it would skew the balance too much in favour of whoever’s the leading server. (Even if it encouraged both remaining servers to gang up on the leader.)
I’d actually love to see a T4 Gate upgrade where the gate becomes electrified/magicfied and has permanent, unstrippable Retaliation. XD
Yes and yes to both of your questions.
Maybe I Misunderstand the system, My understanding is, Once an item is unlocked, you get unlimited uses of it, for the price of a transmutation charge. so the only fee i can see is… the first time he transmutes the item. I may be wrong.
That isn’t how it works. Putting a skin into the wardrobe is free. Getting it out of the wardrobe costs a charge. Every time he wants to get that hood, it will cost a charge.
Yes, which is why I’m kinda undecided about making outfits (the full sets like Mad King’s Costume) into mix-and-match pieces. It’d be nice for customisation, but I don’t want to have to spend a TCharge every time I change my mind.
… Oh man, removing guesting restrictions between EU and NA? I hadn’t even considered that. O.o That would be downright incredible! I’d finally be able to play with my EU friends from GW1!
Transmuting makes an item account bound. You can shuffle it between characters on your account, but you can’t sell it.
More weapons for each class would also go down the “balancing nightmare” path though. It’s more skills and more potential combinations they need to keep in balance, increasing ongoing work. Which is why I still think it’s way more likely we’ll get a new race before new professions/weapons.
My stance? Who cares what the other people in your party are using? I only care what MY character looks like. :P As long as my party members are knowledgable and competent (and if not, I can teach them if they’re willing to learn), I don’t care whether they’re using Legendaries, dungeon gear, or Ascended gear that’s been transmuted to look like starter gear. They’re entitled to wear whatever they want.
Clearing the Enraged stacks is the “intended” way, but on lower level Fractals, if your party is skilled/has good enough DPS you can simply burn down one boss without bothering to clear Enraged from the other boss.
I agree that on higher level Fractals you probably need to clear Enraged though, since the Enraged boss will do so much damage the risk of it one-shotting your party will be unacceptably high.
As for my tip:
Characters that use pets (including minions, summoned elementals, clones/phantasms etc.) are AWESOME to have for the Frizz boss fight and the Thaumanova Anomaly. Why? Because those pets are completely immune to the laser walls (it passes right through them without any effect), and because pets can’t fall through the floor at the Anomaly. Coupled with their tendency to grab and hold aggro from the bosses, it means the rest of the party can usually deal damage in relative safety while all its attention is focused on some hapless Bear or minion, making the fights laughably easy.

That’s why I’m sure that ANet will refund us the gems for duplicate account bound skins. They did so when the infinite tools became account bound, and they’ll probably do the same now.
Skins that are tradable, like the various Black Lion skins, may be more iffy since those can be resold for profit.
Good questions.
Here’s hoping a dev picks this up.
Some speculators, yes. But I suspect the massive supply flood was more due to hundreds (thousands?) of players like me who had excess Laurels, saw an opportunity and seized it.
What they’re doing is not technically against the ToS (provided they’re genuinely wanting to sell and not setting up a scam), but yeah, don’t be foolish enough to fall for this. More supply will come and the people trying to corner the market will more than likely wind up holding the bag.
… Is it bad that I would find that so awesome? XD
Armor restrictions are staying based on what the Wardrobe post revealed.
Personally I’m hoping that it means Soulbound functionality is removed and replaced with Account Bound.
Vol’s post on the first page summed up the complaints, I feel, but for me, I’m still stoked for the Wardrobe and dye changes and can’t wait for it to be released.
Now, if only the “Account Bound” feature reveals that Soulbound is GONE and all soulbound items are now Account Bound…
I do not know either, but I think it seems a fair request, since the title means you must have purchased the Cultural armor at some point.
Nothing in the release said that the compensation dyes would be account bound though.
For once, ONCE… I was actually online when the news hit. I immediately converted a large chunk of my spare Laurels to Unided dyes during the initial price spike.
So THIS is what it feels like to be able to profit from game patches.
Araleg’s story made me marvel at the sheer size of the GW2 market though. For that many dyes to disappear so quickly… Wow. It must have been a sight to behold.
I don’t think you’ll get a refund for this. You now have EXTRA Charges to use for future skins, meaning you’re set as far as transmutation is concerned for the foreseeable future, saving you money on future Crystal purchases. (And I say this as someone who has 150 Crystals and almost 230 Stones too.)
Yep. In time they will almost certainly rise (unless ANet brings them back, which is always a possibility), but you have to take into consideration the opportunity cost, and whether you’ll even still be playing the game a year, 2 years, or 3 years down the line. If you’re the type of player who moves on to new games every year or so, it’s not really worth holding onto these kinds of long-term investments when you could get the money now and enjoy it, rather than it going to waste when you leave for another game.
The Gift of Colour has been confirmed to be reduced to 100 Unid’ed Dyes with the patch, so demand will be lower there.
But I DO think that prices for Unid’ed Dyes will stabilise higher than the old price, anywhere between 50s – 1g, due to their greater scarcity. Prices for identified dyes will probably fall due to reduced demand, and the various cooking ingredients used for crafting dyes will rise. (A good thing! Many of them were woefully undervalued.)

PvE skins need to be unlocked by either equipping, salvaging or destroying them. (You can also right-click on the item and bind it to your account.) The game will also check what your character is wearing and unlock those skins too. From that we can conclude that unless you actually have the item on your character, you can’t unlock it.
Unfortunately the FAQ said that armor sets which have been completely deleted cannot be retrieved.
You’re out of luck, KOPPER.
(This very possibility is why I’ve been hanging on to my T1 and T2 cultural armor sets all this time!)
(edited by Zaxares.5419)
For a weapon skin I can now use across all my characters anytime I want for a Transmutation Charge? Yes, it would be worth it to me. Of course, other players would need to come to their own conclusion.
Don’t open the ticket YET though. Gaile mentioned on the Support forums that their staff aren’t able to do anything for you until the Apr 15th patch.
But yes, as someone who bought 2 Marjory’s Daggers, I fully expect to receive a refund for our excess skins.
I bought 2 Marjory Dagger skins too. I’m sure ANet will refund us for the extra copies once the Apr 15th patch arrives.
I think it should stay specific to Tequatl, but I would not mind a token system similar to how SAB worked.
Eh, not to my tastes (I want an actual axe), but I’m always happy for more options for players.
I’m actually going to err on the side of “consume less”, the theory being that people who wanted the skins, likely already have them. We may see some increase in demand from fashionistas and completionists who now want to kit out their Wardrobe, but on the whole I think the player market is not going to change their tastes and demands suddenly due to the Wardrobe.
I do sympathise with the players who were not online/sleeping/working when the news hit. Believe me, I know all too well what it’s like to miss out on the opportunity to profit/stop losses when major market changes arrive.
But at the same time, for once I was actually online when the “big change” happened, and I made a tidy profit trading some of my unused Laurels to Unided Dyes and selling them during the huge initial spike.
There are always winners and losers in a free market. Sometimes whether you’re on one side or the other just comes down to luck and being in the right place at the right time.
Like everyone else here, I am so thrilled for the new Wardrobe.
I’m nowhere near as fashionable as you guys, but by the Six, the SPACE I’ll save from not having to lug around extra armor sets for their skins anymore! (Let alone all those Living Story backpieces.)
… I wonder who’ll be the first person to fully complete the Wardrobe…
Joining the karma train in EotM is also a great way to get Dragonite.
You get about 20+ for capturing Keeps, and I think you get 15+ for capturing Towers (although sometimes you get Empyreals instead).
Yes, I suppose you can look at it that way if you’re not interested in the Eternity skin.
Of course, bear in mind that many other players might feel the same way and we end up with lots of Eternities on the TP, lowering prices.
I’m pretty happy with the current implementation, but yes, I do agree that it would be nice if outfits could also be mixed and matched. (Although I’m not sure that’s worth the tradeoff of being able to freely swap to outfits for free. If outfits got turned into armor skins, we’d have to spend Transmutation Charges to equip them, and I’d rather avoid that situation.)
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for doing this, ANet!
I love you guys! Have ALL the Quaggan hugs! I can’t wait for the Apr 15th patch!
@Bearlin: Kind of. You still wouldn’t have the Eternity skin unlocked unless you soul/account bound Eternity to yourself, and then you can’t sell it anymore.
The wardrobe is an april fools joke. There i spoiled it for all of you.
If the wardrobe is an April Fools joke, HEADS WILL ROLL. >:(
