Well, duh. That’s what the Toxic Hybrid was!
So anyone have a transcript of this “Sekrit War Council” meeting?
I don’t have any links, no, but I remember back when Ascended first came out and people noticed that no Ascended Giver’s gear was available. When questioned about it, someone (Colin or Chris Whiteside, maybe?) said that this was intentional.
Of course, that was two years ago, so it’s entirely possible that ANet has reversed its stance on it by now. We’ll have to wait and see (if the data miners dig up anything).
I don’t see the current situation as a “problem” either. Having downgrade recipes is something I think would be good (especially in the later years of GW2, when the population is likely to be primarily veterans with very few new players, resulting in a bigger glut of T5/6 mats), but the situation as it currently stands doesn’t need adjusting right now.
Anything is possible with enough Inquest experimentation!
Oooh, would LOVE Ascended Giver’s recipes, but that contradicts ANet’s past stance about how they had no intention of creating Ascended tier for Giver’s.
Anyway, I fully expect that the Wintersday stuff will get some new goodies similar to what they did for Halloween. We’ll probably see a Wintersday collection too. We might also see the Winter’s BL weapons make a temporary comeback.
Salvager’s Supplies was a great deal. Bought one even though I already had a SFSoM (should have waited for it to go on sale first. Heh. My own fault for ignoring my modus operadi).
First point is true, although I’m not sure it’s a big enough issue to warrant dev time.
As to the second, you’re not actually harvesting anything from the cloth rack (no gathering tools are used), so I think it’s intended.
While instinctively I do agree that higher tier/rarity goods should always be more valuable than lower tier ones (speaking purely from a “game logic” view), Wanze also made a really good point about the increased prices for lower tier mats being a great way to shift money from veteran players to newer ones.
Still, in the long term I would like to see downgrade recipes get introduced for all mats. It would ensure that no matter how the supply/demand curve changes, all mats would constantly adjust in equilibrium with each other. (The precise exchange mechanics would need to be calibrated so you couldn’t generate an infinite loop of materials, of course.)
If transmutation charges are hard to come by for you, then yes, I recommend waiting till you’re level 80 before applying any changes to your armor. Levels are pretty quick to earn in GW2 anyway; you’ll probably be replacing your armor at least once every few days if you’re an avid player.
In Sorrow’s Embrace yesterday:
“P3 no no no let’s go go go before reset!
”
Sadly, it filled before I had a chance to join. XD
An interesting development of late is that we may have acknowledgement that the Fractal Weapon collection is bugged. (Gaile has it listed along with 3 other broken collections, but unlike the other 3, the Fractals collection was never announced and only discovered by accident by some people who already had unlocked Fractal skins.)
If this is true, and it is fixed in an upcoming patch, then I expect there to be a HUGE outcry over the insane RNG needed to acquire the specific Fractal Weapon you’re after, and we could see ANet introduce a different acquisition system, such as through trading Pristine Relics, or perhaps the introduction of the Fractal Weapon Box at higher levels.
Fingers crossed this happens.
I want my Fractal Sword!
Actually, that’s not true, Xiahou. I’ve seen Legendaries spawn when the Keep was only level 2. I’m fairly certain now that the only requirement is that the particular Keep must be under Pact control (although I think it may be possible that their spawn rate is increased the higher the level of the Keep).
In any case, I agree that if you’re after a specific Legendary, the best approach is to basically camp at that Keep in question and keep your LFG window open so you can quickly taxi in to instances where a boss is up. (There’s usually always helpful people offering to taxi.
)
Well, since episode 7 and 8 will have 2 armor pieces each, it’s possible that one will be awarded per alt completion, and the other will require grinding.
Hmm, could it be linked to whether or not the Fort for the specific Champ was under Pact control when the Breach begins?
NPCs will only do that if you have pulled them too far away from their spawn point, or you’ve jumped up onto an unreachable location (and they don’t have a ranged attack).
^ What they said. Once you’ve unlocked the trinket by completing the achievements, you can purchase extra copies for Bandit Crests.
I haven’t gone back to check whether the Dragon’s Reach Part 1 trinkets have also become purchasable for Geodes, but I’d assume they’d be available too if you did the achievements.
The way I look at it, the most obvious conclusion is that “they” refers to Rytlock, who is a prisoner of Mordremoth. (Somehow. It’s unclear how he got out of the Mists in the first place, unless that scene is from a place in the Mists which shows a potential alternate timeline where Mordremoth has been successful in beating back the Pact.)
I will just take this as a complete troll post….or extremely good weed and would want to know the exact source.
Um, I’m not exactly sure why you’d think that was a troll post. We know for a fact that the portal Rytlock jumped into took him into the Mists. He might have found his way back out, only to get stuck somewhere in the Maguuma Jungle (those “aloes” look like Mordremoth’s minions).
We also know that the Mists contain fragments of reality which can show visitors scenes from the past, including alternate timelines that didn’t occur in our reality. (The devs have hinted that the Uncategorised Fractal is one such, while the Ascalonian Fractal, while set during the Searing, was said to be not necessarily an accurate depiction of an event that occurred.)
I’m guessing the gist of Pigrin’s post is that he doesn’t want the Festival achievements to be copies of each other year after year. (Similar to how we have Blood and Madness 2013 and Blood and Madness 2014 now.) If he’s proposing that Festival achievements remain the same each year, with new ones being added, then yes, I would support that too. It does look rather odd to have Blood and Madness twice in my Historical category.
This happened to me once on my Mesmer. Not sure why it happened, but when I tried again on a different character it worked normally.
Episodes 7 and 8 will contain 2 armor pieces each. You can check this by looking at the remaining armor pieces in the Luminescent armor collection.
I’m sure that inter-racial (interspecies?) relationships already exist in Tyria. After all, there is that bar patron in DR who thinks some Asura was hitting on him. He certainly didn’t seem upset by that thought.
They should just make the Mini Llamas tradable. :P
I want a Colocal and a Plated Behemoth
Aside from these, I’d also love a Griffon and Phoenix/Rainbow Phoenix pet.
I’m sure cantrips are perfectly viable for PvE, although I run a heavy Arcane build (with Staff) in PvE myself. I do make use of cantrips a lot more in PvP though.
Hey, don’t laugh. Second Life has built a million-dollar industry out of that.
I do agree with you in that it would be wonderful if the various Legendary weapons actually had some grounding in lore or history. (IMO, they should be legendary weapons on the same scale as the Scepter of Orr, or Shiro’s Blades, or Sohothin.)
But as to having them being actually super-ultra-rare among players? That I don’t agree with. I’ve always supported players being able to acquire the exact look they want for a reasonable amount of effort. Having items be made artificially scarce just to preserve “prestige” is something I find abhorrent. Besides, your character already isn’t “unique” from a lore perspective; we can’t ALL be the Slayer of Issormir, or the Commander of the Pact, or the one who finally killed Scarlet. We just have to accept these things with a wink and a nudge.
I’m not against in-game marriages having special benefits, but as mentioned, I think it wouldn’t be worth the work and potential support headaches it might cause. People who want to RP marriages between their characters can already do so.
Just buy the gems and then wait for a sale for the item you want. It’s more or less the same as a sale on the gems themselves.
It’s mostly due to “thematic relevance”. A lot of high-end weapons that utilise electricity or light would logically use Charged Lodestones. Can you imagine Dwayna’s Feathers using Piles of Vile Essence, for example?
As a result, the demand for Charged Lodestones is higher than the others, and there isn’t really a reliable source for acquiring them. (Although with the introduction of Champ Bags and Dust Mites, prices for Charged Lodestones have actually fallen from their all-time high.)
It’s the same sounds that any female Asura make if they move while Crippled, I believe.
I’m quite sure that Rytlock’s escape will be tied to either Fractals or WvW. (Most likely the former.) The players have to go into a specific Fractal and help him escape back to Dessa’s Lab, from which we can then return to Lion’s Arch.
Anyway, that image and the byline is extremely interesting… The way I look at it, the most obvious conclusion is that “they” refers to Rytlock, who is a prisoner of Mordremoth. (Somehow. It’s unclear how he got out of the Mists in the first place, unless that scene is from a place in the Mists which shows a potential alternate timeline where Mordremoth has been successful in beating back the Pact.)
Aha, thanks for that bit of info about how the Fridgardr Lodge gets bugged! I’ve been wondering myself what is the cause.
I strongly recommend doing a /bug report in-game (if you haven’t done so already) describing exactly what you’ve said here. ANet has said that bug reports from the game are the best way to bring bugs to their attention as it also captures a lot of technical back-end information that helps them with replicating the bug.
In this case, it looks as if the bug should be quite easily fixed by making that Veteran Dredge Siegemaster invulnerable until he reaches the middle of the lodge.
It’s because most of the World Bosses are either Legendary foes (they have a purple circle around their portrait), or are “structures” (like the Shadow Behemoth, Golem Mk II and Tequatl). In either case, they are not counted as Champions and thus do not count towards Champion Slayer.
In my opinion, Legendary foes SHOULD count towards Champion Slayer though. Elite foes count towards Veteran Slayer, after all.
Are they not showing up as an ingredient when you try to craft/discover them? Or do they just not have the little info that indicates they are used as a material?
No, Grow Lamp is crafted by Jeweler (the Clay Pot is Artificer), which is what puzzled me originally about his post, since he says he has both Jeweler and Chef. His missing professions would be Huntsman (for the Plates of Meaty Plant Food) and Armorsmith/Leatherworker/Tailor (for the Heat Stone, which is also the only r500 recipe required for Mawdrey).
It’s because Charr are witches. >.>
@Gord: Canach (as well as Caithe) is invulnerable in that LS instance. If you’re having trouble with the mobs, you can literally just run away and leave them to kill all the enemies (if very slowly) for you.
While I overall agree, I think that a couple of tweaks would make the good updates truly great:
- Once unlocked, the LS story achievements should be completable by ANY character on your account. The current system of forcing you to complete the content on an individual character before you can attempt achievements on them is extremely annoying.
- Dry Top and Silverwastes are well designed maps, but from a long-term perspective I hope the devs have plans to have it scale so its still doable by smaller numbers of players. As an example, it’s almost impossible for a Dry Top map to get past T4 now outside of “raids” by organised guilds; there just isn’t the numbers and interest to make it happen anymore.
- I would like to see a return to the system where the Luminescent armor pieces were given out per character rather than per account. Us altoholics tend to spend far more money and time equipping our characters; having stuff like armor pieces given out per alt felt like a refreshing boost from ANet, one area of the game where our greater efforts are acknowledged and rewarded rather than being overlooked.
I wonder if any of the top PvP players would prefer to sell the Glorious Hero’s armor if they had the opportunity to.
I understand your disappointment, but try looking at it as a challenge or long-term goal. Mawdrey is designed to be the ultimate scavenger hunt/crafted backpiece. If you want to do everything yourself, you will need r400 in several crafting disciplines, but as Noodleworks mentions, you can actually bypass them by simply buying the components from the TP. (I assume the part you’re stuck on is the Heat Stone. It is a buyable component.)
No, only once per account, since it’s tied to the achievement for completing the story chapter.
The BL Key was a nice reward, but I’d have preferred the Glove box over a lottery ticket that will almost certainly just give me more junk to stuff in my bank.
Are they no longer at the third survivor camp? (The one that gets attacked by Skritt)
Did the Breach actually succeed? (Meaning that all 5 Champions were slain.) If any one of them is failed, then the Breach itself fails, although it doesn’t stop the Labyrinth event from starting.
There are a few spots where you can stand to gain invulnerability, yeah. They’re usually located near the spawn points (the two I’m thinking of are near the SW camp in Borderlands and one near the Veteran Warg). However, if a player has basically managed to run back to those points, I consider it as they’ve basically escaped back to safety in their safezone, just like those players in EotM who stand on the invulnerable bridges near their spawns while attacking. (If you’re dumb enough to keep attacking them with the “invulnerable” notifications popping up, you deserve what you get.) Just leave and get on with whatever else you were doing.
If you’re talking about invulnerable points somewhere far away from a player’s safezone, then yes, those are exploits that should be reported to ANet. Send an e-mail to exploits@arena.net with details about the exploit and how it can be replicated.
Siege weapons in WvW already DO affect up to 50 targets.
Firing, say, a cannon into a zerg results in a hilarious amount of damage scores popping up.
Aha, great! That’s the kind of chronological grounding I was looking for.
So yeah, knowledge of the Flameseeker Prophecies did indeed predate the Charr invasion and the fall of Ascalon, and it was fairly common knowledge among scholars.
Still, if the Flameseeker Prophecies were well-known, wouldn’t Lich Khilbron then also be aware that an attempt to command the Titans would end in failure (and possibly his destruction)? That’s why I had the impression at the end of Prophecies that there may have been parts of the prophecy Glint kept entirely to herself, only releasing bits and tidbits to nudge players into the acts she wanted them to do.
