Or us Australians. Not only do we always miss out on these promotions, but we also suffer from the “Australia tax” on video games.
Yes, I thought it was a blatantly obvious move to extend the grind-time. :P Still, I’ll be in SW for a while grinding my 3000 Bandit Crests, so if I still don’t have the Bladders by the end of it, I’ll just wait for the next chapter and the guaranteed extractors.
Read the item description again. You need TWO Bladder pieces to combine into one to unlock that piece in the Collection.
Yes, I think it’s unnecessary busywork too.
Have you never noticed the carrier pigeons that send/deliver your mail, Rip? (Even underwater!)
Anyway, I’m not taken enough with the Griffon animation to pay 500 gems for it. I’ll wait to see if there’s any better ones released in the future (and even then, I’ll probably just wait till they go on sale before buying).
Agreed. I strongly believe that the BLTC forum should be kept separate from General Discussion. Perhaps it could be merged with Crafting to form a “Crafting and Trading” forum, as the two are somewhat related.
The final fight could have been a bit better explained. I thought that you had to disable the batteries in order to lower Vorpp’s shield. When this didn’t work, I tried disabling 2, but that didn’t work either.
I eventually figured out through pure chance that you have to disable the battery shortly before Vorpp teleports to it. If you do it too early, it doesn’t strip his shield when he lands in it. Having Faolain give a hint on what needed to be done would have been helpful.
I just played the Asura Meeting this morning. Not having a Thief character, I was totally befuddled about how Caithe’s skills worked at first, as well as how to properly manage stealth, but after a few close calls at the beginning, I got the hang of it and breezed through the rest of the instance.
TIPS: Skill 5 and Skill 8 are your most powerful options. Use them whenever they are off cooldown. Skill 3 should be your mainstay skill while the other 2 are recharging. If you get in trouble, use Skill 0 to stealth up and either retreat to a safe distance, or just keep attacking. Unlike normal stealth skills, Skill 0’s stealth does not break even if you continue attacking.
Caithe suffers from a common disease that afflicts plot NPCs. When alone, they have super-powered awesome skills, but as soon as they accompany the player/join the party, they instantly forget how to use these skills.
For a GW1 example, see Keiran Thackeray.
Not to mention that the Silverwastes is actually even better for karma farming than EotM. (Not so much for levelling, since low level characters aren’t upscaled.) The loot from Silverwastes is also much better than EotM, especially during the Labyrinth phase. It is, however, quite tedious and repetitive, so I can only do it for short bursts.
I’m sure the RNG will be teeth-grindingly bad this week (and even worse 2 weeks later), but I’ve decided to take the patient way. I’m just going to slowly farm the 3000 Bandit Crests I need for the Boots. If I get the Mordrem parts I need as a result of it, great! If not, I’ll just get them 2 weeks later when the guaranteed extractors are released. No doubt we’ll need yet another 3000 Crests for one of the final 2 pieces, so I’ll be doing Silverwastes for a while yet.
Phlunt’s implied to be far too inept at research to be able to do what Vorpp did (and hence he went into politics :P). But yes, I would like the chance to meet up with Vorpp again and ask him some pointed questions about his past…
0 armor boxes of any kind so far. :P I don’t regret my 1000 Crest purchase of the Glove Box as a result.
Bah, Raptors were easy. Now Angorodons… They were a real party killer, especially in HM when they all spike your Monk to death with unblockable life steals. :P
Oh. I actually still haven’t completed the PS (I was JUST about to start the Tonn/Apatia/Orb chapter when the NPE hit), so I thought there was 2 more after that; the Source of Orr, and then the final assault against Zhaitan.
As I said, you’ll need to do research. In general though, any recipes with time-gated components tend to be profitable; there’s no shortage of players willing to pay extra money to get their shiny NOW rather than later.
Yeah, the story chapter where you obtain the Orb was cut (it’s the same one where you meet Tonn/Apatia). The Defense of Fort Trinity was supposed to come afterwards, but it got shunted forward thanks to ANet trying to squeeze all the chapters into a silly 8 chapter story.
I don’t like it either, but the official stance from ANet is that we should only treat lore and info from the game itself as canon. Anything we read or hear about from secondary sources, including short stories written by ANet writers, as stuff that isn’t necessarily canon and could be retconned at any time.
I find this disappointing because some of our best lore tidbits have come from those short stories.
Heh, so somebody undercut Wanze already? Or maybe he crafted another one and put it up for 500g.
I haven’t played since today’s patch, but after the 2/12 patch I have not noticed any change in the number of Sprockets obtained from mining. (And trust me, I mine a LOT.)
I’ve actually never seen that. :O Is that from Wayfarer Foothills?
Those daggers will likely be in the gemshop shortly. Same as Marjory, Brahm, Rox, Belinda, and Kasmeer weapons. I suppose it could be a drop somewhere like Scarlet’s weapon, but I find that highly unlikely.
That’s my line of thinking too. I already have some gems set aside for it.
The easiest fix for that plothole is to change Malomedies’ line so that he talks about Riannoc’s death. (The line about “we went so long without losing one of our own” can stay. It’s ambiguous enough so that it could be referring to Riannoc’s death.)
Non-US resident here, so I’m already ineligible. :/ I’m more of a General Specialist anyway; you might have seen me post in just about every single forum here.
You just need the one, I believe. After you unlock it at the vendor, you then need to grind 3000 Bandit Crests for the 3 weights, or get very lucky from Lost Bandit Chests.
I agree that Crafting is slow enough that it doesn’t really need its own forum, but I strongly oppose merging the BLTC forum into General PvE. It has its own… “atmosphere”? It can get a bit heated at times, but overall the regulars posting there engage in much higher level discussions than general game issues. We also greatly appreciate John’s posts in there as they give us insight into macro-level economic issues affecting the game.
Perhaps we could merge the two into a “Crafting and Trading” forum, since the two activities are fairly closely linked to each other.
I saw the announcement, got super excited, and was all ready to put my hand up (as a General PvE specialist) when I saw the “must be a US citizen” requirement.
-sigh-
I wish you guys luck with this initiative though. It does sound like it could help a lot with getting our issues of concern to your attention.
Has anyone actually tested it out yet? I have a feeling it won’t work on anyone in instances, so dungeon skipping is out of the question. (Besides, it’s an account bound one use item only.) You could use it to skip JP’s, but Mesmers can already do that for 99% of JP’s with Portal anyway.
Cool, so it looks like the Hourglass from Hidden Arcana. Don’t think it’ll fit my Mesmer (colour scheme clash), but it’s a neat new skin nonetheless.
Weren’t the Winter skins already cheaper than the others? (3 as opposed to 5.) That suggests that when they come back, they’ll probably be back at a small discount, so maybe 3 or 4 tickets each.
But yeah, it would make sense for ANet to bring back some weapon sets, especially those with ties to seasonal or real world holidays. (I’m calling it now; Lovestruck weapons will be back in February for Valentine’s Day.)
Really hope they fix the cursor position thing soon. It’s really annoying trying to change quantities at the moment. :/
Anyone have any info on where the Amalgamated Gemstones come from? (Given their rarity, it must be from someplace rare, so not Lost Bandit Chests. The Drydock Scratch JP chest, maybe?)
Wanze, could you post a preview picture of what Eternal Sands looks like?
Firstly, to get the Boots to even show up at the vendor, you will need a Boots Requisition Order. You get this from completing the event to protect the Skritt Ambassador in the NE corner of the map.
Once that’s done, you can just do events in the Silverwastes. My advice is to focus on the Fort defense events, as these give the most amount of Crests (up to 25), and it seems to be linked to the level of the Forts (all of them). The more Forts are at level 3, the more rewards each defense event gives out.
Make sure to buy the Mordrem Extractors and take part in the Breach events. You’ll probably be doing this anyway to get body parts if you’re after the Luminiscent pieces; the body parts always sell for more Crests than what you spent to get it (wait until the collector is asking for the specific part you have).
Finally, take part in the Labyrinth phase after the Breach is complete. It’s usually not hard to get to Tier 3, and each completed phase gives more Crests. The coin you get from the loot in the Lesser Nightmare Chests should more than pay for any waypoint costs incurred from the deaths from the Wolves.
They seem to be a standalone skin, not part of a set, so yeah, it will almost certainly be a gemstore skin.
I’ve already set aside gems for it. I MUST have that dagger skin for my Sylvari necro. >.<
Thanks for the info, Peter. Hopefully we’ll run into our explorer trio again sometime in the future.
If we’re getting a new stat spread, I hope it’s one with a Vitality primary. We have a lack of choices for those.
Nah. We know that Scarlet already started having the visions from Mordremoth before Zhaitan’s death. All available evidence in-game suggests it was due to a combination of her choosing the path of the Soundless, and then moving out into the Maguuma Wastes where the closer proximity to Mordremoth affected her. (Her going into Omadd’s machine basically was her throwing open the door instead of trying to strengthen it.)
Mordremoth awoke (almost 40 years prematurely, if the regular awakening cycles of the other Dragons are a trend) because Scarlet redirected the ley line flows beneath Lion’s Arch to feed directly into Mordremoth and thus awaken him.
you could always buy the Stein of Ancient Dwarven Ale on the trading post for 45 copper
Didn’t know about that. Thanks for the tip!
Still, the OP’s point stands. This event has been bugged since forever, and it’s needed for TWO collectibles now.
Modniirs and Harathis were surely nice centaurs…untill they were deported from their lands by Humans. Considering this, you could consider that their war against Kryta is legitimate and that they are not that bad.
I DO think that the Centaurs have some legitimate claims to land in Kryta. Just as I think that the Charr have some claim to Ascalon seeing as they were there first before the humans. (Although the Charr in turn originally conquered Ascalon from the Grawl, so they’re not completely innocent either.)
However, the Centaurs basically refuse to negotiate for a peaceful settlement (I’m sure the Krytan government must have tried at some point. Queen Jennah managed to get the Charr to the negotiating table, after all), and they are known for enslaving and sacrificing prisoners. Thus, I will gladly fight them to defend myself and those who cannot defend themselves, until such a time that a peace treaty, and hopefully coexistence, becomes a possibility.
No, it’s still pretty well populated. Thanks to the Megaserver architecture, you’re always guaranteed to be put into a map with other players (you’ll get a prompt to switch to a more crowded server if you’re on a dead one).
The only time your specific server matters is if you’re interested in World vs World, and even then, as long as you join one of the more populated servers, you should find no shortage of players on when you are.
The difference is that the Centaurs were friendly to begin with. It’s different from, say, walking into the Ulgoth centaur camps where you get attacked on sight. To put it in another scenario, it would be like walking into Lion’s Arch to a polite welcome, and then making barbed remarks about the Archians being descendants of pirates and criminals until somebody takes offense, a fight breaks out, somebody pulls a weapon and then before you know it, a dozen people are dead.
Had circumstances been different, Wynne might have left peacefully and willingly with Caithe and Faolain, and bloodshed avoided.
From what I’ve gathered, this is how it works if you have the Griffon selected as your mail carrier:
1. All outgoing mails from you will use the Griffon. (A Griffon will be displayed on your screen.)
2. All incoming mails to you will use the Griffon, unless the sender is another player who has a custom mail carrier of their own. For example, if you get a mail from ANet after a gemstore purchase, it gets delivered by a Griffon. If you get a mail from Dave who has a (hypothetical) Quaggan-on-a-balloon mail carrier, then his message gets delivered to you by the Quaggan, not your Griffon.
What I can do with Dowsing Rod?
Take it to the skritt at the top of the ship.
Note that people are reporting that giving the skritt the Dowsing Rod currently doesn’t do anything. It’s unclear if this is intended or a bug, so you may want to hold onto it for a bit.
Even today, some people define “good” as “based on compassion” and “bad” as “selfish”, and others define “good” as law-abiding and “bad” as the opposite. These people often clash with each other. Doesn’t sound very black and white to me!
All hail Lawful Evil!
I think he’s referring to the Azurite Orb jewelry. The Orichalcum Azurite Earring is currently selling for almost 63g.
How about Queen Jennah delivering the mail?
Is she still barefoot?
Crafting is the only way to acquire Ascended armor and weapons in a reliable fashion, as well as some unique account bound consumables. Some skins, such as Mawdrey, are also obtainable only through crafting as it requires account bound craftables in the process. Depending on your crafting profession and your willingness to do research every day, it can also be a source of profit.
That was smart of you, Pixel. I should have done the same, except that I was really tired of Silverwastes and decided to go back to my normal mapping.
Yeah, they have a rare chance to drop from Lost Bandit Chests (rare and unreliable though. I wouldn’t depend on this method). Otherwise, you need to get a “Boot Requisition Order” by completing the Ambassador’s Aid achievement (do the event to protect the Skritt Ambassador), after which you can purchase boot boxes from the Bandit Crest merchant.
If it helps, OP, it wasn’t actually YOU killing those centaurs. It was Faolain/Caithe, and I think Caithe probably just got dragged in against her will.
So, was this another “breaking into Salma District” bug? If so, I can see why ANet would have closed it up, although as a fellow RP-lover, I agree that it was unnecessary and should have been left as is.
