Thanks for the clarification, Curtis.
Have you completed the story once already? It might not be available until you have.
Uhh, I’m afraid I have to disagree with you there, Hamfast. The mini golems were WAY too noisy with their “thudthudthudthudthud” rapid-fire steps whenever they ran to catch up with you. I found it distracting and annoying; I’m glad that they don’t make that noise anymore.
Of course, the best compromise is if ANet introduces a new slider/option for miniature sounds, so that players who don’t want to hear them can switch them off.
Unfortunately, no, the Azurite Crystals cannot be combined into Orbs. It’s unknown if the Ori node in that Fractal was intended to be removed.
Still, if/when r500 Jeweler is released, I fully expect there to be a new acquisition method for Azurite Orbs, similar to how you can buy Sentinel inscriptions/insignia from the Guild Commendation Trader.
Would like to know this too.
(The smart thing would have been to update it too. Keeps people interested in doing the Labyrinth each Breach cycle.)
Superior Rune of the Bearbow(6/6)
(1): +25% damage and +10% attack speed with Longbows.
(2): Bear pets have +100% additional health and an innate 25% damage reduction
(3): +25% damage and +15% attack speed with Longbows.
(4): Bear pets have +250% additional health and an innate 50% damage reduction
(5): +50% damage with Longbows. All skill recharges for Longbow skills are halved.
(6): Bear pets have +500% additional health and are immune to all conditions. The Ranger now has the Determined buff as long as their Bear pet is alive.
I got one last year, but I would fully support it coming back so new players have a chance to get it again.
Mr Sparkles is HUGE. I think he’s the biggest miniature out there. My male Asura is the maximum height possible, and Mr Sparkles is almost as big as he is!
So is this “Not So Secret” 2.0? If so, I’m looking forward to it!
Yeah, the Vet spiders in the crypts can be problematic. XD Try asking for help in Map chat; there will usually be someone nearby who’s willing to lend a hand. (Especially since there’s a Magnificent chest at the end of the mini dungeon.)
Ack! Yes, please revert it to the way it used to be displayed.
:O
WANT! I must have that dagger for my Sylvari necro!
So how does this custom mail carrier work? The patch notes were a bit confusing; do you have to pay 500 gems for the griffon that only ever works ONCE on a single mail you send out? (Seems like a horrid deal!) Or is the griffon a permanent upgrade, but it only applies to a single mail you send out, after which you have to reapply it for each subsequent mails because it resets to the carrier pigeon after each use? (Better, but still seems quite inconvenient if I have to keep reapplying it every time I send a mail or trade something.)
Outfits are stored in your account wide Wardrobe, so while any character on that account can use it, if you have a second GW2 account, any characters on that account won’t be able to access it.
I’ve never used any outfits myself, so I’m not sure if they can be unapplied. (They are free to apply.) Someone else here can probably answer that question.
I think you should sell, laokoko. As I predicted, ANet seems to be moving down the path of making some BL weapon sets seasonal. Some sets like Fused or Aetherblade may be better investments because they’re not tied to seasonal or real world holidays, but it’s always going to be a risk.
The one thing we can count on is that no item should ever be considered a one-time exclusive; ANet has proved multiple times now they’re more than willing to bring old stuff back. (A policy that I approve of, incidentally.)
And true enough, they are now available.
- Verata inscriptions/insignia are bought from the Bandit Crest vendors.
- Recipes for the actual armor/weapon pieces are acquired from recipe books from Lost Bandit Chests. They can also be bought/sold on the TP.
Sometimes your character gets desynced from the server, meaning that the server thinks you’re actually in a different spot to where your PC is showing you. You can try to resync yourself by using an emote like /dance, which sometimes corrects your actual position.
If not, you’ll have to do a bit of trial and error. The pressure plates will actually depress and make a noise when you’re standing on them. So turn up your volume and move around until you hear it depress, then drop the boulder. That should be the right spot, even if the boulder isn’t exactly on top of the plate.
I bet that in Episode 8, we fight that giant glowy plant flower we saw during the Reconnaissance mission (in a multi-lane fight similar to what we had for the Marionette), and when we kill it, out pops Rytlock! (Who we then have to fight because he’s mind-controlled by Mordremoth. DUN DUN DUNNNNN!)
Speak for yourself, please. I happen to love jumping puzzles and am always thrilled when a new one is included in the game.
I think that miniatures are stupid and a complete waste of money, but you won’t see me petitioning ANet to stop making them for the people that like them.
So, is this like another Not So Secret in terms of length/difficulty? If so, I’m looking forward to it!
Josh Foreman is the dev who designs all the jumping puzzles, I believe.
As mentioned, the Leggings can be earned once per alt. The Boots will require Bandit Crest grinding or getting lucky with Bandit Chests, however.
To be fair, I’m loving the new story chapters. Caithe’s history and her relationship with Faolain has always been shrouded in mystery. I think it’s great that we’re finally seeing more of her character and the tensions that exist between them.
I would LOVE build templates in GW2, similar to what we had in GW1. Ideally, it also remembers the gear you use for said build and auto-swaps it in when you load the template.
However, for balance reasons, I agree that the following limitations need to be put in:
1. In PvE, you can only load builds when you are currently out of combat.
2. In PvP, you cannot load builds while within a PvP match. (You may still, however, switch weapons and individual utility/elite skills while not in combat.)
3. In WvW, you can only load builds while within a friendly location (e.g. a Keep, a Tower or even a Camp) AND are currently out of combat. (As with PvP, you can still switch weapons and individual utility/elite skills while not in combat.)
The problem (if it can be called that) was that they only added Foxfire Clusters to Elder Wood trees and above. That resulted in hordes of players farming T5 trees en masse in an attempt to get their Foxfire. If ANet had instead added Foxfire Clusters to ALL tree nodes (with perhaps a lower drop rate to account for the wider acquisition methods), we would have likely seen a more spread out supply of wood from all tiers as opposed to just Elder Wood.
No, I did that too. The reason was because using the Infinite coin only gave you 10 lives at a time, while you could buy up to 25 in a go with regular coins. That gave me more lives (and thus attempts) between visits to Moto’s Chamber of Death while doing Tribulation Mode. The Infinite coin was just a safety net for if I was completely out of regular coins while doing a Trib Mode run.
All that would need to be done is streamline the way the achievements work so that as soon as the achievements are unlocked on your account, you can immediately start trying for the achievements on any character on your account, regardless of whether it’s the first time or the 10th time on that character.
We actually know this is possible too; back during the LS2 Part 1, due to a bug it was possible to achieve some achievements during the Ley Line Hub chapter on a fresh character once the general achievements were unlocked. Frankly, it boggles my mind why they don’t just allow this once you’ve completed the chapter once.
^ That reminds me, I need to go find that! I’ve been through the Borderlands JP for a while, but I never found that cat room.
Nice job, Vyko! Really nice to get a good look at the incredible detail that went into Zhaitan’s model.
Shame that we only ever get to see it for one (really short) battle. That little diagram at the end there showing just how HUGE he is compared to the PCs was awesome too.
There are creatures called “Hopping Vampires” from Cantha which utilise vampiric skills. However, they resemble man-sized, bat-like monsters. (And again, Necromancers do have various vampiric traits, which suggests that the concept of vampires exists in Tyria, even if we have not seen any actual “Dracula”-style vampires to date.)
While elves are one of my favourite fantasy races, I don’t think that Tyria NEEDS to have them. Tyria has its own unique fantasy setting, and it doesn’t need to have elves, orcs and the traditional fantasy milieu, anymore than, say, Age of Conan’s Hyperborea needs to have elves and gnomes and goblins (as someone else above me pointed out).
#aznsuperiority
While I think that idea is awesome, slausty, it would require a lot of code rewriting of the Minipet system, so I don’t think it will happen.
I know its wrong to try to victim-blaming, but really, are you sure you’re not helping creating these kind of animosity on your groups? I agree that you have the right to play with like-minded individuals who share the same interests as yours, but sometimes you may sound to your groupmates as kitten, i dont know.
I’ve pugged with some forumers that i see sometimes complaining about pugs, there was this one on a cm run that kept doing “passive-agressive” comments to the groups mates, like “hey special snowflake, stack!” “dont use wall of reflection until i use mine” “sigh…”, that just kept buiding a bad atmosphere on the group that he ended up being kicked, but he was with a friend in the group who invited him back, when he joined back i left because i was the one who seconded the kick.
So, i don’t know, sometimes if you are doing a quick run you dont need to act like an kitten to the group, if you are unhappy with their scrubness just leave or keep it to yourself until the run is over, it will only cost you 5 minutes most of the time.
Well said. Again, I’m not saying that the OP is doing this, but this is why we always need to be cautious about the stories people tell on the forums. It’s only one side of the story, and very often it’s distorted (sometimes accidentally, sometimes intentionally) from the reality of what actually happened. I’ve seen so many posts on the Account Issues forum where people come in swearing up and down that they were reported/banned falsely, only to get shown proof that they were sending abusive whispers to others, that they actually WERE exploiting/hacking/etc. Sometimes they’ll even provide screenshots to prove their point, and it turns out that the screenshot was photoshopped or altered to imply things that didn’t actually happen or to make it sound worse out of context.
Some of us don’t have the time to listen to 44 mins of talking, or can’t access Youtube for one reason or another. No harm in seeing if there’s a transcript or “important highlights” available; some podcasts have transcripts available for this exact reason.
Can do!
T1 should
1) work on keeping all time zones balanced, not just overall ppt.
2) organize cross-server push weeks, and other events. Rather than separate scheduling.
3) in general act like friends playing a game together, rather than fighting a war of extermination.Basically this. It’s a way of opening up communication between servers to better understand each other to prevent misunderstandings in order to prevent the mistakes of the past, so we can keep T1 healthy and fun for everyone
For those wondering about the people in the channel, BG’s leadership is literally just the GM and officers of every WvW guild and some WvW active PvX guilds. TC has a rotating leadership and JQ has a council of sorts similar to BG. Most servers have some form of this. T1 just takes it to the next level in order to organise ourselves in order to maximise our effectiveness on the field and internally. It’s not for everyone, as such a structure was made to PPT, but it does help with providing a more stable leadership
Cheers for the summary.
It does help put into perspective some of the things I’ve been seeing my (sparse) WvW time in TC.
That’s actually something I’d love to see; the ability to go buy the EotM consumables, and use them in the “real” WvW maps.
There’d be less need for scouts to do the (pretty thankless) job of sentrying objectives when you can just plop Sentry Towers at each gate, which would let players know at once if a Keep is under serious attack or whether it was just a tapper.
Likewise, Air Strike Grenades would be another way of bolstering AoE capabilities for characters with poor AoE skills, and the Kodan Hammers can be used for some strategic maneuvering like blocking off doorways or entrances into SMC, as well as providing projectile absorption shields for catapults/trebuchets.
Rank 353. 1 Ebonmane’s Weapon Chest, 1 Occam’s Armor Chest. A couple of Ascended rings, but I already get plenty of those from Fractals.
There’s actually 2 ways to get to the central Labyrinth chest; one is the obvious straight run from the east, the other is by climbing the cliff on the western side.
If the eastern side is being mobbed by wolves, consider just hanging back and waiting a while for them to move on. The wolves tend to run around in mobs, which means that if the south is being overrun, the northern route will be almost empty of wolves.
Also, try to run with other players. Stagger your skill 1 to stun wolves when they get close, and help out other non-transformed players you see who are running from wolves. They can turn around and save you in turn later.
Gaile, remember how back in GW1 we could bet on which team would win the GvG/HoH tournaments and players could get free Zaishen Keys if they picked the winners? Maybe you could consider doing something similar for GW2.
^ Yep. Simplest solution, make the Mini Llamas tradable. There’s bound to be some good PvP players with more than they know what to do with (or who just don’t care about minis, considering they can’t be displayed in arenas at all), so why not let them earn some good money by selling them to mini collectors?
Mmhmm. And that’s why I find it highly unlikely that ANet will introduce any big new sink for them anytime soon. The number of players who have maxed MF is probably a tiny percentage of the player base, and it’s just not worth development time right now. Rightly or wrongly, it’s partially their own fault for rushing to the goal for something that was clearly intended to be a massive, years-long grind by playing normally.
Hmm… Very interesting tip, Joop. Thanks for sharing.
I already maxed out my bank tabs long ago, but I took advantage of the sale to give my mule character a few more bag slots (handy since we now have more cheap/free 20 slot bag options).
I honestly PUG ALL the time and I’ve never once been kicked from a group. I think the difference here is that I’m always starting or joining non-meta/speedrun groups; the players in these don’t care what you’re running, only that you’re level 80 and/or experienced (if it’s not a “all welcome” group). As long as you look like you know what you’re doing and aren’t annoying/aggressive, PUGs are actually willing to put up with a lot.
Have the Skritt and Centaur camps in the Borderlands always been the way they are now? I was thinking they could easily be changed into Mercenary camps similar to the Ogres/Dredge/Hylek in EBG, which could provide additional guards for the northern camps as well as wandering patrols between N camp and the northern Towers.
Heh, for those of us with deep pockets, sure. But I dare say the kind of player who buys their Berzerker Exotics with Badges of Honor is not likely to have the ability to throw around gold like that.
No, but the OP may want to upgrade to Ascended gear one day, and then they find that the Superior Runes of Strength on their armor can’t be salvaged.
Yeah, that’s one way of reading it. I thought it might have been ANet being coy over the identity of the character (“He” would have been a dead giveaway), even though the graphic clearly shows that it’s a Charr (and likely a male Charr, given his bulk).
So anyone have a transcript of this “Sekrit War Council” meeting?
So secret the entire conversation was linked by the host….

People making Mawdrey, possibly. Aside from using the Agony infusions themselves, Mawdrey is the only other sink for infusions in the game. (You need a +5 Agony infusion, or 16 +1 Agony infusions.)
Griffons and Plated Behemoths are highest on the list for me.
The Snow Wolf can be found easily in Hoelbrak, but the base Wolf (with the AoE Fear howl) can only be found in EBG. It’s easiest to get to if you’re Blue for the week, where it’s just a short jog away from your Keep.
