and when they add the filter totally revamp the TP. I’d like to suggest that you invite players that actually use the TP to give input.
For 7 years we waited for a TP/Auction House in GW1 and in GW2 we get a clunky cumbersome unreliable shadow of what could have been. Yes it does work, but so does opening a can with a hammer.
Yes, yes it is.
I have a feeling that something big is coming on June 10th!
Black Gold Online release?*
*why would a new MMO select a name that sounds like a gold seller?
(edited by Zet.9130)
Yep, multiple loadings scream of clunky design and little oversight. What I had hoped the process would be was similar to the HoM. Airship picks you up in Cursed Shore and drops you off in Cursed Shore. But Anet sees map travel as content so…
My fondest memory of Guild Wars 2 was launch. The excitement of Guild Wars 2 after having played Guild Wars 1 since beta as well. Last night I was reminded of the transition.

Thanks for the GW1 pics. Reminds me how much fun I had there. The pics from Presearing were the best. I have yet to sort out why my GW1 experience didn’t translate to GW2, but I know I don’t have the loyalty or excitement that I had for GW1.
My fondest memory has to be beta. The anticipation for the new game.

Working on MF felt like working on LDoA in GW1, it’s a long haul. I guess I’ll bank the essences and hope for a use.
So once a player has maxed Magic Find, Essence of Luck becomes useless. Has Anet indicated a possible secondary use for them in the future?
Hey guys, I just spent $1000 on gems. Check out my new axe skin.
What armor is on that female char? I searched the wiki and can’t find it!!11!!
Unless you’re talking about a few copper here and there, this is largely untrue. The market adjusts fairly quickly to reduce the profitability of buying items for their expected salvage results.
We disagree. The market changes and different items spike in value. A good current example is an level 24 Acolyte Coat worth 20c is selling at the spread of 5s 88c to 6s. there is over 100 pieces of that armor on order at 5s 88c. Someone is buying, salvaging and making a profit. It’s not flipping Legionaries but it’s more that a few coppers.
Things change and then they change again. I think that there will always be profit in salvaging the correct items. LOL I’ve hijacked my own thread. It will be interesting to see if Anet comes up w/ a use for the Essences.
At this point you could just sell your greens/blues.
There are drops that are worth more as salvage. I expect that situation will remain static. So selling them to merchant or other players would be unwise.
I’ve been working on Magic Find and can barely see the end of the tunnel. But I can see it! It hit me that once I’ve maxed out MF I’ll have no use for Essence of Luck. Has Anet indicated that there may be a future use for this rather specific currency?
Wasn’t Evony that online web game that scammed people and were run by a shady gold selling company?
The above was my true concern. I’d hate to see anyone compare GW2 to Evony /shudder
While at a random MMO site (mmorphlife) I noticed what I thought was an Evony banner ad and thought “are those guys still around?”. Then realized it was an ad for GW2. The ad features a female char with a plunging neckline and more than ample bosom.
It may be tasteless, but I’m sure it worked for Evony. I’m just not real sure Anet would like the comparison. Who vettes these things?
^^ What Behellagh said!
It would be helpful when viewing an item if there was an indication that you have an offer on it and where that offer stands. It has already been stated a filter for armors “(armors: light/med/heavy)”. We could go on on, but if Anet hasn’t indicated that fixing the TP is a consideration …..
Has Anet even addressed the issue? I had assumed once they had it fixed after it’s painfully problematic start they would make it a working, efficient interface. Instead we deal with what can only be called tiring and unhelpful (to which the cynic in me sez “yep just the way Anet want’s it”).
Thank you AngelMouse.
Accidentally lowered each each trait line to zero? Is there a reset button somewhere near the TP cause that’s what I was doing prior to going out and getting my kitten kicked by a low lvl Veteran cause my trait were all set to zero.
A guild member also said it happened to him – but hey perhaps he accidentally reset his traits also.
I certainly hope I didn’t kick the neighbors dog, swear at my wife and eat the gold fish after coming home from work by accident.
Zet – still grumpy

All my traits were set to zero. Please put my build back. It’s a Tuesday what are the interns doing mucking around w/ the update?
Zet – kinda grumpy
I don’t get it. It is as if a dev that has never played a game set up that clunky process. I’m going to buy 4 stacks and it’s gonna take forever.
This is another example of something that was working in GW1 but for some reason was reinvented for GW2 in a manner that is a downgrade. (deposit/withdrawal from bank another example)

Maneki-neko – beckoning cat

That’s what I see. Just need it to wave.
Excuse me kind sir, do you have a moment?"
Zet
IIRC originally Anet said there would be no max level, then changed their minds w/ a lukewarm we’ll revisit this in the future.
Also, if they do raise the cap and you rage quit can I have your stuffs? (I think I’m in first)
Zet
But yeah, I kinda do have to do them if I want laurels, which is the only way I really have to nab ascended gear at the moment.
It’s interesting to see how many different reactions GW2 players have to this change. What worries me the most is that Anet can’t seem to adjust the game without upsetting a large portion of players. This latest change reminds me of an old control freak girl friend of mine. While she was pretty and sometimes fun I quit dating her.
It seems broken to me. I thought all armors were going to take dye in the same manner. Most colors are washed out, lacking any brilliance.
Trying to match armor mixing is close to impossible -I suggested to all in my guild to avoid purchasing this skin and do so to any here.
So, why exactly do they claim to have removed the Holy Trinity when there are classes still aimed directly for the Trinity?
The question is just a small portion of the big question. Anet created an Orwellian world where everyone is equal only some are more equal than others. Why as a necro do I have the crappiest armor and am given a mele weapon? I’m trying not to be a kittenhole but I would think that dagger should do some pretty amazing damage. All the while I’m fighting next to a warrior (heavy armor) using a rifle? huh?
I’m not arguing for the return of the trinity, I am suggesting now that the roles have been stirred up an evaluation be done and some adjustments made.
I have high hopes for GW2 2.0 coming on the 28th
The question that I keep being presented with is – “Why didn’t they take from GW1 the ideas/features that worked?”
- As stated above the Party Formation was better than none.
- The chat interface in GW2 is cludgy and stymies communication.
- The Bank & TP currency interface is cumbersome – almost as if it was designed to be anti-intuitive.
The list could go on…
I’m at the point in the game that I should be lusting after some weapon or armor and I’m not. The game feels like it was designed around the goals to make skills easy to balance and an economy that could be controlled and while saying it was fun just missed the mark. But hey I waited for 4+ years for this game I guess I’ll see how things develop.
Well I suppose you could change the contents of the bag – try tossing it down the steps a few times.
Mine seems unable to take an Emerald Orb – I wonder if it’s filled w/ broken toys?
Emerald orb is level 80
The bag is level 10
You can try transmuting the skin of the bag to a level 80 back item
Thanks – there is a small portion of me that likes being the noob (after being a jaded GW1 player) – I suspected there would be a logical reason.
Mine seems unable to take an Emerald Orb – I wonder if it’s filled w/ broken toys?
Yes please just give us the ability to disable it. I’ve no suggestions or angry remarks other than this is just another example of why I’ve been disappointed playing necro. Disappointed w/ Anet and GW2 really – I had 20k+ hours in GW1 and had fun – I had such high hopes for GW2
/agree
(hum more marching tune)<< my fav – I park my char next to him when taking a break – makes me smile every time!
My opinion of Commander was formed on the 3rd day after release when I saw someone walking around Divinity w/ the icon. I have yet to WvW so perhaps my opinion will change. But I just think I’m seeing someone w/ a large disposable income in RL.
Well he is a bit of a Rurik, but at least he’s not like the GW1 FG that would run over to a wall a stare at it in the middle of a battle.
I run FG and do like it – although seems he’s a tad slow to engage since the last update. He reminds me of my father w/ Parkinson’s Disease, leans forward wanting to move but alas is stuck in place. Hopefully Necros will get a rework soon (rubs lucky stone, turns around twice & pulls right earlobe).
I’m thinking mini Polar Bear (GW1) which had a reported drop rate of 0.01%. Which means you might see one in game but never know someone w/ one.
