Hmm…I don’t know. Guaranteed hits are pretty flippin’ amazing in the era of constant blocks and evades. I wonder if the guarantee portion of Lightning Storm even counts during immunities. I’ll have to test that immediately.
I strongly disagree with adding such powercreep to the game, but Anet refuses to do anything about the high damage and high sustain together, so I guess this is their solution. More damage…
This is sounding more like a clash between walls and knockbacks that didn’t exist before (yes, I know I’m captain obvious) than just an issue with knockbacks being too fast. I never once encountered this issue even just a few months ago. You could probably create a temporary, but not ideal, fix like slowing down knockbacks as was mentioned, until you pinpoint the real issue and can fix that.
Well maybe if anet actually nerfed the crazy amount of defences and damage professions got with their elite specs instead of removing amulets, people wouldn’t die so fast. The PvP team was doing what they were allowed to do. They can’t do anything about balance, but they can at least remove amulets. But that all that did was make everyone squishier when they didn’t have any defences available because damage was still insanely high, and fewer stat combos reduced diversity as well. It’s really too bad that this is likely to happen again with PoF unless the balance team finally steps up and does their job well instead of just letting the PvP do the job of the balance team.
I really hope there’s a way to quickly and easily access skills 1-2 and 4-5 of any attunement while being attuned to another one. For example, I want to be able to get earth 4-5 with water 1-2 and then, let’s say, reverse that with ease and of course with a CD. I don’t want to have to cycle through my attunements in a specific way to achieve this result. That would add too much restriction to the spec’s playstyle.
I predict that there will be loud calls for Mesmer nerfs within hours of release. We’re likely to see some of the same kind of harsh dialing down that Chrono got.
That’s not because the spec will be OP. It’s because it might be deceptive enough to fool some players.
Some months down the road, any new mechanic Mirage introduces may be shared with 1 or more other classes.
I’m actually pretty depressed about this even though I’m over the moon about returning to Elona.
Stacking that much condi pressure with just dodges is broken
And so, it begins.
Trust me, condi Mirage will be one of the most broken specs come release. That is, unless we can beg hard enough for anet to nerf them. Everyone will be running the stun break on dodge because who the kitten wouldn’t take that? Like seriously, who thought that was a good idea? It’s bad enough we have thieves who can break all movement impairing conditions on dodge, but now mesmers will be able to break stuns and remove a condi. At least Mirages don’t get a third dodge bar and a few skills that refresh your endurance. That’s the only thing so far that is keeping that trait in check. Maybe an internal CD will also help, but I don’t like internal CDs, so I won’t be happy until the whole trait is reworked.
“2. Elusive Mind
Dodging breaks stun and removes conditions.
• Conditions removed: 1
• Breaks Stun”
Holy kitten that’s OP. That’s honestly more powerful than Daredevil’s Bounding Dodger.
Incoming Inspiration, Illusion, Mirages. High regen uptime, constant stunbreaks, incredible mobility, powerful against conditions, applies massive amounts confusion and torment on top of plenty of bleeding and other conditions. GG anet. You manage to make the next elite spec more powerful than the current specs.
Two possibilities;
1 – The devs looked to the forum for ideas.
2 – The leaks are fake. By someone who looked to the forum for ideas.Nice that they kept the name though, as a nod to the original inspiration. This also makes it more likely to be option 1.
Well it’s very much looking like option 1 now lol.
Trailer says mid and close range.
Anet will find a way to make this insanely OP while also being weak, and then they’ll buff the weak part and it’ll just be insanely OP.
When you ban half of your pvp scene and wonder why it’s dying out
rip
Dealing with abusers and cheaters is good for the game, even if it’s toward “top players”
Eventually they’ll start to deal with bots, and that’ll definitely help the PvP scene. There’s still quite a bit more to do, but this is a step in the right direction. A zero tolerance policy.
There’s a difference that bunker rev has compared to eles and druids. The latter two can do decent damage with their tankiness. Bunker rev has to run either Invocation or Devastation to increase damage. Druids have pets to help with damage, and eles have frequent attacks. Revs have fast-ish attacks, but nothing compared to ele and they don’t have any pets. You could run Invo/Salv/Herald with Glint/Ventari and Mender’s for high might stacking. This gives you some ok damage, but it’s still not as good as eles or druids because one does AoE better and the other has a pet. Rev just has the Glint AoE and weapon skills.
Now where rev bunker does excel at is defence and CC, and that’s because of the Ventari elite with the light field. You can use it with 10 energy and then activate the light field for two AoE cleanses and an AoE knockback. A competent rev who knows how to abuse the AoE blind along with the knockback can be hard to do any meaningful damage to, and even staying at range is difficult because the tablet can be moved almost anywhere to knock you back, but range is still better because the AoE blind only works around the rev.
So to fight one, stay out of range of the AoE blind, but don’t group together. You should reduce the impact of their skills as much as possible. Make it hard for them to pick up the healing orbs after the elite, and try to load them with condis when they can’t spam the elite skill in the light field quickly enough. You’ll also need to burn their Glint heal, so when they do, stop all attacks and try to hold off on reapplying your most powerful condis right before they need to use it because condis contribute to the healing.
Sounds more like bug abuse, which honestly should result in a ban for a good chunk of the season.
If a player is lagging and out of range for a stomp, then the stomp wouldn’t have started. I’ve encountered this too and I’ve never had a stomp start and not complete when a player was not in the location I saw. Unfortunately, hacking can’t be ruled out either because Anet doesn’t do a kitten thing against them.
These two skills are completely different. One applies extremely high condi damage, and the other CCs and does some power damage (and not very much either). Simply put, Plaguelands has more potential power long terms, even though GW has some power in the short term. In terms of area denial strength, I’d much rather be hit by GW than Plaguelands.
And if with more analysis we can somehow come to the conclusion that GW is more powerful, then we’ll just use the good ol’ elite spec vs baseline skills argument.
If you lost the match, chances are there where many times during the game where you where dead on the ground with a enemy standing over you, I don’t understand why having it at the end of match is a big deal.
Also don’t get why people trigger over this, but are fine with finishers.
Because finishers add mechanical flavour to the game. Dancing over a corpse just adds humiliation. A finisher can be humiliating, but it’s also interesting and can even be a little humorous. Dancing over a corpse is not interesting. It’s humiliation and nothing else. Perhaps a replay of any finishers used against the losing team during the game would be more appropriate. If no finishers were used, then some stock footage of one using models of characters from that game would be fine. This will still add a little humiliation, but not to be demoralizing, unless you’re super sensitive, in which case you probably shouldn’t be playing PvP game mode.
Dagger does not need more buffs right now. Other weapons need to be looked at instead. Staff is getting there but has a way to go yet, and scepter is still too slow or weak outside of air. Dagger is already mandatory with most specs across the game, so buffing it will only make a mandatory weapon more mandatory.
Glad to see some action being taken, but I fear this won’t be enough. These accounts and any other accounts used by these players should be closely monitored and punished ASAP when an offence is committed.
Salty players, awful matchmaking, poor balance, no variety (specs and good game modes). It wasn’t even worth continuing to finish The Ascension because that’s how horrible it became.
Did the groups fail because he ran off the ledge every time death threatened him?
make up your mind, pretty sure there is also a condi meta as well :o which meta is it ?
All of them. Powercreep does that.
No Arcane Power? The conditions from Elemental Surge are applied when allies hit with AP’s effect. So using it in Earth can unleash a powerful AoE immobilize or chill or even constant blind if you stagger out your skills. There’s also the ferocity bonus for your allies. If you and your team do it right, Arcane Power’s benefits outweigh Aftershock tenfold.
Also, staff’s damage is amazing. The problem comes with long cast times on delayed skills, or you need to stand still to cast or the AoE is small and hard to land. But staff, especially specced for soft CC, has so much control that it should be possible to hit with most skills or at least force dodges.
OP, I’m not writing this to shame you. If you’re struggling with 1v1s with one of the top dueling builds, that’s fine. But, my biggest suggestion to you is to play on dueling servers or join the daily tournaments before doing more ranked. Ranked isn’t for you if you’re having trouble with duels on a longbow Druid. You will get rekt and you will be blamed for losing the match. People will see and they will queue dodge you.
You can absolutely still do ranked if you really want to, but I’m still standing by this post because you are dragging yourself and others down. I know this is harsh, but it’s a reality that even I have trouble accepting.
Don’t stop playing, but you need to get better before doing more ranked. You took the right step by asking on the forums for help. Ignore those who flame and shame you for struggling. Again, this post isn’t intended to shame you. I’m only trying to save you time and energy in a game mode that won’t help you improve at the area that your profession is strongest in. At the very least, be able to kill DHs. You are their nightmare. Become their nightmare. Don’t worry about losing to mesmers. They’re usually condi and Druids just don’t do well against non stop condis. Plus mesmer is the other top dueling profession.
Don’t stop playing. If you keep working toward improvement, you can become a top player in ranked. It takes time, but trying to improve, from your level, in ranked is a waste of your and other’s time.
Sorry, but it’s real life.
Sometimes you work in a company and you have to produce results by friday and your colleague calls in sick thursday morningI mean, yes, it sucks, but you gotta accept some real world in this. And “it’s bad enough people without HoT can PvP” has got to be the most toxic thing I read on the forum for a while. Really, the only impact HoT has on PvP is the elite specs, and there are still MANY viable builds without the elite spec.
Because a video game should totally work exactly like RL. In RL, you can’t just do a bug fix to get rid of a sickness, but in a video game, you can work toward removing issues so that they don’t happen again. People will always get sick in RL, but they shouldn’t always have to deal with AFKers in a video game. Anet has power to deal with AFKers. People in RL don’t have power to avoid getting sick ever.
But now players who try to run out will be stunned and still be within any AoEs. I find it hard to decide whether this is really much of a nerf. You can still plant the field at the edge of a player hitbox for an instant stun, so that trick still exists. But now players can’t just walk around a Lava Font if they’re careful. The old size would allow someone to sit on the edge to avoid it while not being stunned. For how the skill functions, the bigger radius gave unintended options to enemies.
Just add a couple pillars and some more room in the FFA arena, spread out the sparring NPCs and this whole area will be solid in my book.
Oh and fix the bugs in the arena and remove the ability to safe spot. Even though the spots aren’t truly safe from attacks, they’re still abusive of what I can only imagine is an unintended mechanic of the arena.
I was toying around with an arcane staff build earlier in the FFA arena. Traited, Arcane Brilliance is 12 seconds as Abelisk mentioned. And then throw on the AoE Arcane Power in earth and you have incredible control with frequent healing. If played well, it’s very survivable, and it can kite for dayz. On top of that comes the usual benefits of staff; that being area denial, control and AoE healing. If Anet would just add a little more burning to fire (like burning on Fireball or a projectile finisher on Fireball), I would even consider a Sage build. But right now, I think Demolisher is the way to go. It helps make up for the lack of Earth line, and staff, when played right, can provide plenty of cleanses.
Lucid Singularity to me seems like a good option when not running as a healbot. Though the selection of that over Elemental Bastion might come down to enemy comp. Immunity to immobilize and chill works wonders against thieves, necros and warriors.
There are many nice rune options now with this low Arcane Brilliance CD. Adventure, Herald, Revenant, Water, Lyssa, Vampirism all have nice on heal bonuses. I’m really looking at Vampirism for the highest possible damage.
Someone try this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQFAWnMICdOg1MA+MAcYiFWAr4ImBmAuZ1v6YlIBcACAA-TJhTABbeBAOuMAA7PA9DAAA Try it with other weapons too and other traits. I really want to see another spec become actually viable.
Another spec to try is Fresh Air baseline with Arcane Brilliance. The main problem I see with this though is Fresh Air’s need to stay at range and kite, making it difficult to get the most out of AB.
A custom arena specific reward for PvP potions could be nice.
Whole mid section of fighting area (see screenshot, area marked red) causes no valid path error. I can’t use neither steal or shadowstep while standing there or if target stands in the area.
I thought something was wrong with that spot. Please Anet, fix this as soon as you can. And also maybe make the area a tad larger and add some LoS spots. This could be a great spot for practicing massive fights without needing to go to hotjoin or another custom arena.
Or! We could increase the size and you can go to a dueling arena.
The elementalists are tired of being healbots, myself include. It is frustating to see your teammates doing nothing, and blame to you if they die.
This. Support specs are only as good as the players being supported. If the specs were powerful enough to keep anyone alive under all forms of pressure, then blame could be put onto the supporter, but that’s not how support specs work. They’re meant to assist allies in staying alive, but they can only go so far. They’re not designed to carry. If a player being supported sits still and takes all the damage or runs away from the support, that’s their own kitten fault! And so many times I see players running into outnumbered fights because they think their ally can heal through 2+ players going all out.
It’s another blast finisher. I’m not complaining. Eruption was a terrible blast finisher, and you shouldn’t be using water as your main source of damage anyway. Just use one Ice Spike for a blast and some burst, and then swap to another attunement for more damage. Honestly, I see nothing wrong with this change in the end. Water isn’t any less bursty from this. It only lost DPS, which it should never be used for anyway.
Warrior sustain is like rev damage. It’s absolutely horrible when you don’t spec for the defensive lines, just like how rev damage is terrible when not specced for the offensive lines. Reworks need to be done to fix this problem. Trait/skill nerfs and buffs are just going to swing the professions between broken OP and broken UP.
This kitten’s been happening all over the game, including WvW. And WvW always lag, but not this bad.
1) Spawn camping, there are three exits.
Ever heard of EBG? I guess the two exits are behind some bushes.
Why would you want to buff the already necessary weapon or legend? Instead, make Centaur or Dwarf more viable. Or better yet, actually freaking nerf conditions so that we don’t have to run as many cleanses as possible.
If this happened in WvW, why is this post in the PvP forum? In fact, this should just be in the ranger forum because it doesn’t even really have anything relevant to WvW.
Also, welcome to fighting Druids. Sudden range attacks locking you in place with almost no counterplay. Basically, you also have to play a high damage range spec, except the only other one is DH which Druid counters. Actually, come to think of it, thief could work because they have enough dodges to avoid the big attacks and can just dodge out of the root.
Imagine if they buffed ranger/druid so it was better in zergs. But then imagine that the buffs transfer over to roaming and ganking as well. Sure they would be more viable for large groups, but then they would be insanely OP elsewhere. They’re already the most OP spec IMO. The professions design simply doesn’t allow it to be good in zergs while not being OP elsewhere. Same thing goes for thieves. If they would get the sustain to survive massive fights with a zerg, then that sustain transfers over to roaming and ganking, and we all know how already nearly impossible it is to kill a good thief.
I think we can conclude that all professions are OP.
Except revs, but even then. They’re just the least OP.
But you feel a kind of excitement when you know that you can blow each other in a few seconds .
And an extremly blood rush when you know that if you are not carefull watching your suroundings , a 3rd player can obliterate you from behind
I think we can get more of a rush when one mistake can be taken advantage of over a longer duration (longer than currently), screwing you over unless they themselves make a mistake. But right now, you can make a bunch of mistakes and still succeed. This is what powercreep allows: mistakes.
The solution here isn’t to cater to casuals more than Anet already has. The solution, instead, is actually to work harder at making your server better so that you get more pips per time (a new PPT if you will). You can get up to 3 just for having the top war score. You also get more for being a higher rank (bronze, silver, gold etc.). But if Anet just rewards you for playing and not improving, then you won’t improve, and that’s catering to bad players or casual ones (no matter their skill). You can still get to Mithril in a week, which isn’t bad. Diamond should be reserved for the winning server and/or players who play a lot.
The worst is when they require you to have a mic. I mean come on! Not everyone can use a mic all the time. I kid you not, someone actually kicked me from their channel because I didn’t have a mic. That’s just a new level of elitism. This guy also had no problem calling out and deliberately trying to belittle players who were struggling in an outnumbered fight against a condi zerg. By far the most arrogant, inconsiderate commander I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve encountered some pretty awful ones.

Hi friend. It is known that if you angle your camera downwards it will slightly decrease how far the skill will travel. A neat trick is incorporating lighting flash onto the target during the animation
This is for PvE, so no room for Lightning Flash.
Upon further testing, I’ve noticed that I can maximize my BS distance and use it in the same place over and over and sometimes get it to hit 4 times a second, but most of the time it’s 3 times a second. And literally just a few minutes ago it hit once a second! Is this really just how the skill works or is there still something I can do to consistently get it to hit 4 times a second?
Edit: I tried again but changed my positioning just slightly so that my character was just outside the target ring. Suddenly I’m getting 4 hits over and over. But I swear I did this earlier and was getting 3 hits! What the heck! And my positioning can change slightly after that and I’ll still get 4 hits. It’s like there’s a sweet spot and it’s really strict. I think it would be really nice if someone made a diagram for each boss on where to start BS in order to maximize its damage.
(edited by Zintrothen.1056)
I was practicing my condi ele “rotation” against the training golem earlier and noticed that I was sometimes able to get Burning Speed to hit 4 times per second against a large hitbox. Previously, I had only thought 3 hits was the maximum. I experimented with positioning and camera angles for a good while, but wasn’t able to achieve a consistent result. Most of the time it hit 3 times per second, but when I tilted my camera flat on the ground, it would often hit 4 times, but then sometimes it also only hit 3 times. More annoyingly, sometimes it would even just hit twice. To add even more annoyance, the length of my trail at times isn’t maximized.
So does anyone know the exact way to achieve 4 hits consistently? Or is this just the nature of the skill? It’s quite a boost in damage when it can hit that one extra time. I would really appreciate any advice on how to do this successfully and consistently because it’s quite a big boost to burning damage.

Yes rank 2000 is too much!…for the the ascended armor. For a legendary item, rank 2000 is perfect, but that’s not the case. Why the hell does a legendary item not require that kind of rank, but a freaking slightly shinier ascended item does? It’s completely backward.
I’ve been getting randomly lag spikes as well that only started after the “balance” patch a few weeks ago. I can go without any lag for quite a while and then bam! 300-500 ping for, at most, a minute, and then disappear like it never happened.
Maybe, just maybe, WvW having a legendary will push all the crappy PvEers away from PvP. WvW has a lot more room for crap.
Well gee, maybe if damage was so excruciatingly high, necros could take advantage of their natural tankiness. And necro damage is part of that problem, so reducing damage would directly nerf necro damage while indirectly buffing necro defence. It’s a win/win.
Badges, and Proof acquisition from PIP chests should have “Consume All” or be automatically placed into the wallet to avoid spam clicking (carpal tunnel).
P.S. PIP chest refers to “Skirmish Chests”
Many other things should have a “Consume All” option too, such as Tomes of Knowledge for those who saved them up for their dashed hopes of them doing something useful other than a spirit shard.
One of the great things about hotjoin is that you can leave a game whenever you want. It’s annoying and I get annoyed by players doing that, but I also do that lol. So I can’t legitimately complain about people leaving matches.
Swapping teams on the other hand is a pretty kitten move. If you’re losing and you don’t want to play on the losing team, leave. Not only do you look like a kitten, but you also don’t improve as a player by being the crushing team.
