If you had some friends that quit the game, if you think of it like this you’ll know why.

you goto a restaurant and order food. Food hasn’t come out in over 1 hour, what do you do?

Now think of it like this, you buy a game and they promise something, but they kept you waiting for a whole year not telling you a thing, what do you do?

Depends on the food. I’ll wait 3 hours for something cooked by Gordon Ramsay.

Products always promise something, if you buy something for the “promise” you will always be disappointed.

Honestly, I am most shocked by the shamelessness of it. No embarrassment? No shame!?

Most people don’t feel shame hiding behind the safety of their monitor screen. Raging is another story.

Personally as a thief as a main, I feel a bit ashamed if we don’t get dredge as that is the only one that I feel am being useful (gears, stealthing for destroying gate and tele to buckets). Feels a bit useless to be a thief in other fractals.

On the other hand most pug parties I been too have a personal dislike for dredge and avoid it like a plague. I rather take dredge than grawl any day tho (or seals unless it is a good group).

omfg, OP i feel your pain… LOTS of it.

Seriously tho, when I started fractals I went slowly from 1 level at a time and even if I know what to do I always pretend not to know or just observe. This gives me ideas on what will/will not work before I hit the 20s where the whole thing starts to actually get harder.

Once we had to 3-man the seals at 26 simply because the other 2 kitten killed the marked target and rage-quitted since they keep on running all over the place. It took us 15 mins to 3-man it compared to having a full party where we were stuck for almost an hour.

And another with a guardian who refused to use buffs or even put up a wall of reflect. He keep on hacking and slashing (probably a zerker build) and dying all the time… and getting mad when we don’t rez him. Eventually rage-quitted at fire shaman.

Groups kicking from fractals

I was running with my friend the other day, and some pugs. They decided to kick him. Little did they know, he was the instance starter sweet, sweet vengeance when they found themselves booted from the dungeon. That’s what they get for being a jerk.

Oh yea that happened to a CoF group I ran a couple weeks back. Everyone pretty much ignored me and i just went ahead and started the dungeon. Final boss was almost down and I got kicked.

There should be checkpoint that should disable kicking. Really unfair to kick someone after working so hard in fractals and getting nothing.

Until they change the system this is the best solution.

Unfortunately, I have to agree.

The problem with the current party system is that it is pretty much open for abuse. Although most of my fractal runs have been decent, I have had the occasional leader who rage-quits or being kicked at Jade Maw to let friends/guildies get the rewards.

Nope. Cussing someone out is extremely rude and much more offensive than just being kicked from a group for no reason.

I agree cussing is extremely rude and offensive, however wasting 2-3 hours of someone’s time, effort, food and gold with nothing in return as the rewards are at the end of the run (fractals) is just as bad.

In most cases, if the run will turn sour (due to lack of skill or lack of manners) you’ll find out in the first few minutes or somewhere before the middle of the run, not at the end of the dungeon.

Please make it impossible to kick people at certain point of the dungeon or fractals. Today I spend almost 2 hours in this pug fractal group and on the last fractal just got kicked without any reason (probably to get a friend or guildie to do the jade maw).

I see no reason why kicking is allowed when you are halfway the dungeon/fractals so it should not be enabled unless the person is offline or leaves by themselves.

We are talking about boss from different levels of the game. They need to probably add a couple of different attack scenarios on how the boss attacks so that it doesn’t get boring after a while and keeps players changing their strategy.

I like it just because it promotes variety.

Now, I want to get that dragon shield. If i don’t get it, no problem. If I do get it I will have the satisfaction to know that it is a rare item.

Releasing content period promotes variety. Releasing it in the way ANet does it promotes exclusivity. There are people that can afford these things… And there are people who can’t. I can’t. Most people can’t and are turned off by it. It doesn’t endear anyone to ANet or to GW2.

I dread every content update for this reason, and a couple others. I’m at that point where I like the game enough to play it when I have nothing else to do.

I would agree and disagree on different levels.

On one hand, the people who can afford these items are mostly the ones complaining since they didn’t get it after spending huge amounts of money on gems or gold. Of course there will always be dissatisfaction for those who cannot get it but like everything else in life, we can’t have everything.

On the other hand, it is a major turn-off to be opening hundreds of boxes and getting only candies and fireworks (and if i see another Zhaitaffy, I will puke IRL). If there are something useful in those boxes…

The main point of RNG is to keep something rare (I won’t be surprised if it also have a limited number of x drops per day per server plugged into the programming however this is just speculation).

It sucks I know but that is the reality of it. If a certain item drops too much too often, it loses value as it becomes common. Rare items i believe should stay rare, eventually you’ll get something other people don’t have.

Suggestions to increase the drops will most probably be ignored.

Eliminate the "GW2 discussion" section

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zoldyck.6241

Zoldyck.6241

I think the Discussion section should be more heavily moderated but not moved. New players normally come here first to learn about the game and community only to see the same topics in several threads (not the mention the insulting and name-calling). This hurts the game as it turns away new players which in turn hurts the players.

Make no mistake I am not against complaints and suggestions, but they should be more constructive and less bashing. Perhaps if some suspension and bans are initiated there will most probably be less trolls and unnecessary drama in the forums.

And I have been reading these forums for several weeks now and Vayne btw, is not “white knighting”, “an employee of ArenaNet”, etc. In my opinion, he is a person who cares about the game and have lived through life experiencing many things giving him a kind of perspective which you can only acquire through time and experience.

Zoldyck.6241

What you aren’t understanding is that dailies SHOULD NOT be the outlet for BiS gear.

Why not?

Anyone can do dailies.

And I don’t find this a problem. Is there something someone cannot do or get (other than rng skins)?

There is 0 challenge in doing them, there’s no kind of sense of accomplishment.

You can say the same for everything else in this game, run them a couple of times and tell me what kind of sense of accomplishment a person gets. I have the same opinion of dungeons and fractals after the 3rd run it might as well be a chore than an adventure.

Plain and simple dailies are a CHORE nothing else.

Fine, then don’t do them. This is not a customized game that aims to please the minority.

Legenadaries are another matter, honestly I don’t care they provide no stat bonus over something I can farm in 2 hours. I’m not autistic enough to spend hundreds of hours for a skin. And I’m fine with that, but dailies on the other hand you HAVE to do to be competitive. That’s the problem.

Competitive? One amulet which barely makes any difference in stats?

By the time you typed in all your replies, I would already finished my dailies. :-)

Zoldyck.6241

Dailies should be easy and fun. They shouldn’t require you to read a guide so you can effeciently grind them each and every day, because they’re the only means of getting BiS gear. It’s a flawed system that forces you to go out of your way to complete it, every day. Again and again.

Dailies are work you have to do to get something in return (in this case laurels). Fun is subjective… what is fun for you might not be fun for me and vice versa. Either you work for it if you want BiS gear or you don’t it is still your choice. You don’t lose anything for not doing it but you don’t gain anything either.

It is like legendaries, getting the mats are far from fun (farming, rolling in the mystic toilet, etc) but people still do it because they want it bad enough. Same with dailies if you want the BiS Amulets then you better be ready to work for it.

If we play with other people we should always practice a little bit of restraint (especially on the net where you cannot see other people or understand if it offensive to their culture) that it doesn’t go to the point of needlessly offending someone for no valid reason.

I come from a generation before mmo and we play with other kids on the street, we don’t have the luxury of sitting behind the safety of computer screen throwing insults to random people.

dailies are forced atm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zoldyck.6241

Zoldyck.6241

Also, dailies are very restricting and punishing to players who can’t log in everyday. There should exist some sort of system that allows you to finish the dailies from the last 1-2 days. That’s because sometimes, depending on each player’s mood and time, there are days where they might not feel playing GW2 much (or just doing pvp or a dungeon or something), and there are days where those same players spend hours in the game. Dailies currently treat those players unfairly: they should get the same amount of laurels for having the same dedication to the game, but they don’t, because the current daily system has a very strict schedule.

Fix those issues, and dailies will truly feel what they were intended to be: a reward add-on for doing normal stuff, instead of something that forces you to do side-stuff and takes away from your precious time.

Just to make it clear, dailies are not meant as an “add-on reward”, they are meant to force people to log in everyday and develop the habit of doing so (for psychology majors you know what i mean). This is good for the game as makes people come regularly (rather than have people come once every 2-3 days) and increases the population of active players. I can guarantee you this will never change.

Yes, it takes precious time but it is work. Dailies and Monthlies are a system designed to reward participation, it is not a reward for being present.

Arenanet is a business and like all business are there to make money. Salaries cost money, server costs money, electricity cost money, etc. You are not exactly playing a stand-alone single player game every single second the game is online it costs them money.

Just be thankful that it is not sub based and there are people willing to support your hobbies by buying from the gemstore.

And it is a skin, so what? They put out new skins every month that even if you are bound to get a rare skin just from normal play even if you don’t spend gold to gems. Try some games where you need to spend thousands of dollars to upgrade a weapon (cough… flyff… cough) and come back then complain about rng skins.

Personally I like the RNG concept for skins, it keeps things rare. Imagine if everyone and their grandma is running around with all the same things you got, kinda kills the mood.

(This is not directed to any person in particular)

You know, I wish people who don’t like the game just… leave.

No dramatics, no complaining, just close the door and walk out.

These kinds of threads discourages new players from trying the game (and in the end, hurting the game itself) and what delayed me from trying it out myself for several months. I suggest mods to start locking/deleting these kinds of threads since it isn’t productive, useful and just bring about useless arguments/debate.

The game is not perfect, not everything will appeal for everyone but it does not mean it is bad. For example, I don’t like jumping puzzles so I rather not do them but I don’t consider the game bad for having it (and I thank all the mes who give me ports so I don’t have to do them).

I think what this game has is a little of everything for everyone. Personally, I think the community in general and as a whole, are awesome especially compared to other MMO I have played before (and I have played a lot since the first MMO… senior moment). And yes, the community and the game CAN be better but I believe it is on the right track.
