What is the point of this?
Why would you undercut by 5g????
I mean I understand undercutting by 1c, your item sells first. But why would you EVER undercut by 5g? This is just 1 example, it happens all the time though.
Gem prices go up when people convert gold into gems. Gem prices go down when people use real money to purchase gems.
stop buying gems with gold if you think the prices are too high.
So People have been arguing about if the mystic forge has any DR associated with it. I believe there was a bug causing this DR but it has since been fixed. Here are my test results for using the mystic forge.
As you can see there is no clear indication of a DR in place. However we can notice that the range does seem skewed towards the lower end of the range (5-12).
I don’t know why the TP doesn’t work like in every other MMO ever made…
3 day list → Item and listing fee are returned once the 3 days is over.
I think one of the biggest problems right now is that people don’t ever take items off the TP because there is NO way to recover the listing fee. This means items just sit there, and as soon as they are undercut they sit there forever and never sell. It is causing the market to be clogged up with things at values that can’t even be sold (buy orders below vendor price) and items whos prices are no longer valid and will never sell, just filling up database space.
I bet we would see a vast performance boost if they removed items after 3 days as well.
Agreed, we need a LFG tool. This is like SWTOR all over again. I just hope they add one BEFORE everyone leaves. It is a really simple concept, I just don’t understand why gaming companies can’t seem to grasp it…
People want to play the game with people, not spend all their time looking for people to play the game with.
It is even easier in GW2, you don’t even have to fill roles. Dungeon→ Path→ group done.
two of the same sigil with both contribute to a “stack” but you can only have 1 stack at a time if that makes sense.

Thief – pistol whip – Has many ways to play still.now stop crying and pointing fingers you easy to play class you.
you seem to not understand the meaning of the words you typed, so let me try again, i’ll try and be more clear this time…
your first 2 points are fine, no arguments there.
3. pistol whip does indeed have a CD. First off it is limited by the global CD of the skill animation. you can’t start the next attack until the first one finishes. the skill takes about 1.5 seconds to execute. the daze only lasts .5 seconds and the main damage component doesn’t even start until after the daze ends. You can just walk out of it before it does any significant damage to you. Plus you can dodge the whole ability.
Secondly we don’t have large CD like other classes but we are limited to 10 initiative. PW costs 5, so we can only execute the ability twice before needing to wait 10-15 seconds (traits excluded) before we can use it a 3rd time and then an additional 10-15 seconds for each use after that. So yes we can use the ability twice before the “CD” kicks in but once it does it is similar to the CD of 100 blades.
4&5. I’m not actually sure what you mean by this one. Are you saying thief has a higher movement speed? because I think all classes have the same movement speed. We also get the same number of dodges as every class. (again traits excluded). As far as closing on and getting away from the target, sword/pistol gives 1 shadow step/return and using it immediately prevents you from using PW more then once (initiates the initiative CD). So if we use this ability we immediately cut our damage in half. In addition to make up for our other mobility ability (steal) we have only medium armor not the heavy armor of warriors and a much lower base health. So comparing our increased mobility as a positive for us while ignoring higher armor, higher toughness and higher health from the warrior is like comparing a warrior without any armor to a thief with armor.
6. What you typed was once a warrior uses 100 blades he is out of combat. Are you saying his weapon is immediately deleted from his hands and he can’t use it anymore? Because as far as I am aware the warrior still maintains access to his GS abilities even after he uses 100 blades. Which is not the case for the thief, using PW twice immediately removes skills 2-5 leaving us only with auto-attack. So you actually had that one backwards. Once we use PW we are out of luck and if the enemy isn’t dead we have to run away.
so actually it is you who doesn’t understand not me.

so basically what you are saying is… if warrior unequips all his utility skills, takes off all his armor, and only uses 1 weapon skill… THEN he is balanced with the thief????
Yeah because clearly that’s how balance works… glad we cleared up what we are comparing here.
I agree if the warrior takes off all armor, unequips all traits and only uses 100 blades then he is reasonably balanced with the thief, now we just have to convince all the warriors in the game to do this.
The pre-cursors are rising on average 4g a day. If you don’t grind out at least 4g a day you will never see a legendary unless you are the luckiest person alive with the mystic forge. Regardless of how much you grind and spend farming other mats if you can’t keep up with the pre-cursor inflation you won’t ever get it.
It seems unlikely they will plateau any time soon. Anet has nerfed the drop rate on them 3 times so far which keeps the prices rising.
The problem is Anet nerfed all the ways people previously made gold.
1.Low level rares to make pre-cursors… nerfed… then nerfed again just for good measure. People who got in before that nerf made 800+ gold off of them.
2. Exploits. All those karma exploits allowed people to make hundreds of gold and they unbanned everyone and those people almost all kept their gold.
3. Crafted to ectos. Before loot DR and ecto salvage changes you could craft a level 70 weapon for about 10s and salvage 50s worth of ectos. People made hundreds of gold from doing this just for an hour or so.
4. bots. Since Anet never bothers to ban bots they just farm 24/7 and amass huge amounts of mats and gold, while simultaneously making it harder for everyone else to make profits.
If you haven’t done one of these things chances are you won’t ever have 100’s of gold. The only way left is to get extremely lucky with a rare drop or farm for 1000’s of hours
Only SM’s have been nerfed. The only thing that has changed in exp modes is that instead of running AC exp at lvl 35 in Blues and Greens, people are now running it in level 80 exotics with full traits. it makes a HUGE difference.
They can talk about downscaling all they want but a level 80 reduced to 35 crushes everything in its path.
My samples are too small so I won’t pretend they matter in any way, less than 20 tries per. In those samples I didn’t notice any trend however. The best piece of info I have is mystic clovers crafting which I attempted 107 times at once and didn’t get any dr (and got a 37% success rate).
That isn’t a valid sample. That is a 1→1 conversion, of course it can’t be dimished. What the OP is talking about is when you convert something and get a random number back.
for fine crafting mats its 5-12, for common mats its 10-40 (? I think)
I haven’t tested it for the claim about exotic weapon conversion, but I know for a fact it exists for Armored Scales, and gossomer scraps.
Gee Warriors still hit 25k with a single ability but our ability that did 6k dmg got nerfed yet again….
and our only partially viable elite got nerfed to total uselessness..
The picture pretty much speaks for itself… What is the use of an hour long Karma Boost if I can only get karma for 40 minutes at a time?
I tried switching zones and I got even less karma…
I tried switching to another character… got NO reward at all for events.
I’m sorry but this just doesn’t make sense, or there is a very well hidden bug. I have personally experienced a DR on the MF multiple times. It is very easy to test. Buy 500 large scales from the TP. Convert them to Armored scales. Do this once a day, your results will look like this:
12-12-10-9-8-8-8-6-6-6
It doesn’t even vary. You’ll get an occasional extra high or extra low number, but the pattern is the same every time you do it. Please look at this more extensively.
Well the price of the mats has jumped up from 30g to 100g, hope you got this fast if you wanted it.
This needs to be addressed(Mystic forge and Legendary Pre-cursors)

I agree, it is sad that people who found the easy way to get the precursors are rewarded and make everyone else suffer while we have almost no chance of getting one now.
Just yesturday someone bought up all the precursor swords (3 of them) for 60g and then relisted all of them for 120g. Since no new ones are entering the market the price just keeps going up.
Yeah for the cost of crafting one “rare” dye you can buy 10+ unidentified dyes and have a much better chance of getting a rare dye.
It is most certainly not worth it to make those since they have such a low chance to actually give you a rare.
While we are looking at the karma DR can we take a look at the Mystic Forge DR as well? I find that one even more annoying since you created the recipes and there is no “farming” of the mystic forge, so I don’t get why you had to slap a DR on that too?
Also your response about putting DR in to save the economy doesn’t make much sense. The only advantage someone can get by farming karma is a person gain. There is no karma market to flood, no giant influx of items, no karma→ gold conversion. I completely fail to see what horrible death the economy would suffer by allowing me to farm 15k karma/hr. I mean that is still over 130 hours of JUST karma farming for a single legendary weapon, not even counting everything else that is required.

I think the real question needs to be is WHY is there ANY DR? No other MMO (that i’ve played) has ever implemented any DR… so why is it all of a sudden needed here?
It certainly isn’t stopping bots, if anything it is encouraging them because normal players can’t get the items they need so they are much more likely to bot for them or buy them from bots.
And that doesn’t explain the karma DR at all… Karma is used to buy BoA items and can’t be converted to gold… it is only for personal use… a bot could farm karma for 100 years and he would just have a lot of karma that he couldn’t do anything with, it isn’t like gold or loot which you can sell. So can someone explain to me WHY karma is DR’d at all???
Yes i’m sure the problem is me and that i’m playing the game “wrong”… if that is the case then I guess i’m done with the game. I’m not going to waste my time playing a game that I can’t play like I want, i’ll go play pretty much any other MMO that doesn’t penalize me for playing how I want.
I wasn’t grinding anything, I saw an event pop up and I went and did that event, my exact progression went like
Plinx event 1
3 wave of veteren mobs
Plinx event 2
champion wizard
Plinx event 3
Champion drake
Tar elementals (only stayed for half of it, was just trying to sell some stuff)
Plinx event 4
Champion Abom (only stayed for 1/3 of it, very boring)
Peniant camp
That middle camp
Jormag camp
Heard that grenth was up, ran there
First grenth event DR’d
I didn’t repeat any events, I was just running through the map normally. There is only 1 level 80 map so there isn’t really anywhere else to go play at max level. The lower level zones may scale me down but they don’t scale up the rewards so it’s kind of pointless.
I only get to play this game about an hour a day. I try to use that hour as effectively as possible. But after 20 minutes I just log out because there is no point in playing anymore. After 20 minutes of playing some weird DR seems to be kicking in that makes it so I don’t get ANY loot and I only get 54 Karma per event…
I am trying to get over 500k karma and i’m getting 54 per event after 20 minutes????
Is this a bug? I’m assuming it is because I doubt i’ll continue to play this game if it cuts you off after 20 minutes of playing, it’s totally absurd.
I’m really disappointed that you can sell these… so much for “legendary” more like “I have a lot of cash”
In my view Legendaries should be account bound not sellable + SB
in Crafting
Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573
Agreed, these should NOT be sellable. This is a huge slap in the face to anyone spending a lot of time in game to craft one. All that work and some rich spoiled brat can just buy one with cash…
Cluster Bomb hittign for 7-8k AOE for 2 Energy, give me a break?
in Thief
Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573
In PvE Cluster Bomb hits for 800-1.5k max… I don’t even hit 8k on rabbits… If anything it needs a buff, by the time my bomb lands the target is 30m away.
So I decided to upgrade some T5 scales to T6 due to the enormous price difference. The upgrade recipe takes 50 T5 scales and give 5-12 T6 scales in return. However it appears there is a very steep DR on this just like everything else in the game. Here were the results of my conversions:
8, 11, 9, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 7, 6, 9, 6, 6, 6, 6, 7, 12, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5.
Besides getting very lucky and getting 12 in there by some miracle, it seems the recipe drops off significantly after a while. I don’t know if there is a timer on when it resets or if the recipe is forever ruined for me now, but it was rather annoying to not be able to effectively convert a large number of mats.
So I decided to log on this morning and try and finish up my daily. However I couldn’t find 5 working event. I went to cursed shore and found:
4 bugged escort quests
2 bugged temple quests
3 bugged defend quests
2 bugged kill quests
There was literally not a single event running that could be completed.
I figured oh well and decided to work on my world completion. Went to the level 15-25 Norn zone and started doing stuff there and hoping to finish my daily events… but nope, I found:
3 bugged defend quests
2 bugged escort quests
It’s really bad that I can’t even find 5 working events in a game that is built entirely around these events…
5g
I spent a couple gold on playing the TP… ended up losing money, still haven’t found my niche.
I do have 3.5 crafts mastered and full exotic armor/runes and full exotic jewelry.
I also have some rare mats, but not a ton. About 100 dyes as well.
So I went ahead and tried out making gossemer from silk… After burning through 10 stacks of silk I ended up losing an average of 11s per conversion. (i.e the cost of selling the stack of silk + 1 gossemer + 5 dust, got me 11s more then if I just sold the amount of gossemer I received from the forge).
This holds true as long as you average <20 gossemer scraps per conversion. I ended up getting: 25,17,17,13,19,23,17,17,19,18 from my 10 attempts.
That was as much as I wanted to try, and 10 isn’t large in the grand scheme of things, but I still lost over a gold trying it.
So If I were you i’d stop with the forge and just sell the silk.
Are 20 Gossamer scraps really the same price as 250 silk scraps?
I salvage all whites, sell all blues and greens to vendor, TP all Yellows/Exotics.
The only exception is if the 74+ Rares are selling for less then the cost of 1 glob of ectoplasm, then I use a Black Lion Slavage Kit to try and get a glob of ectoplasm.
No, black lion chests didn’t decrease in supply. The increase in price is warranted by the now possibility of receiving a portable Trading Post vendor that is unlimited and bank as well.
The increase in price was a result of a bunch of people posting that the “smart” thing to do was stock up on as many chests as possible because of these items. Of course this was patently false and was just a clever deception. Those same people bought 1000+ chests at 2-3 copper and waited until zerg of followers drove the price up to 90+ copper then they dumped all the chests back making 100+ Gold profit. And driving the chest cost back down to 5c.
The best way to make money in this game is to watch the patch notes and attempt to screw over as many other players as possible.
GW2 "endgame" model is fine. Execution doesn't make sense tho, problem and solution.

The low level content is definitely easier to high level players. If things were given with the same chance as Orr, there would be noone there and low level areas would be flooded by high level players 2 shotting things.
I think that is one of the issues holding them back. For all the posts of “no progression” it is easy to see when your 80 with full traits the amount of DPS you can put out is just imbalanced for the area’s.
How about this: Any level 80 zone would be excluded from this (so basically Orr/Frostgorge).
If you are 80 downscaled and you go to farm a lower level zone you have a DR on all events across the zone. So basically for a while you get drops your level similar to the rate of Orr. Then it will start to drop gear based on the level range of the zone. It won’t impact Karma etc, but loot wise it will hurt. That allows people who want to salvage gear from those area’s the ability too, and those that want something not filled with undead mobs that pull you or blank white snow a place to kill and progress.
You can then either: Go back to Orr, or go to another zone and hunt there.
Why does there have to be limits and anti-loot code everywhere? Why can’t I just play the game how I want to?
I don’t understand the mentality in this game that everyone has to be having fun a certain way or they are doing fun wrong…
So can someone please explain to me what in this game is NOT considered an exploit according to you?
I’m serious, I want to know what activities you consider to be “normal” gameplay and how you KNOW they are normal and not an exploit?
I never glitched this giant, I didn’t use any bugs to my advantage, the grubs weren’t disproportionatly weaker then other mobs, they didn’t drop more loot then other mobs, I wasn’t using any pathing glitches. Those are things that are traditionally considered exploits in other MMO’s.
As far as I am aware I have not done any of those things. Obviously Anet is rebalancing the loot so they wanted to it changed, but what is the magic code that tells you this was an exploit? They also changed how heartseeker worked for thieves, does that mean every time I used heartseeker before they changed it I was exploiting?
Can someone please post a concise and helpful definition of what they think exploiting is? Because i’m pretty sure people are just using that word to mean “you found a way to make more money then us and we don’t like it so you are cheating”
Man I really just don’t understand you people… are you seriously trying to tell me that because I found a legitimate game design that gave slightly more of a certain mat then doing something else that this is an exploit????
The giant awards no loot, no coin and no karma, why in the world would I spend 30 minutes to kill it? The reward was clearly designed to be the loot you got from killing the grubs. They are no easier then running around killing any other mob in Orr, they just have a set spawn rate and dropped a particular item I wanted.
By your logic:
If I choose to do a DE more then once because it has a nice reward I am exploiting….
If I choose to farm any mob anywhere and it respawns then I am exploiting…
What exactly am I allowed to do that wouldn’t be exploiting?
What about the people who let the Grenth event fail so they can retake the temple? are they “exploiting” because they didn’t try hard enough?
I’m really not sure how this could be considered even close to exploiting????
If this is exploiting then so is almost every DE in the game… The giant spawned grubs, the grubs did high damage, you killed them or you died. eventually the giant died as well, the event took 20-30 minutes. Replace Giant and Grub with Base and “creature” and you’ve effectively just called the entire DE system an exploit lol.
I guess people are upset that they didn’t know where to farm and now the spot is gone.
The more Anet nerfs and tries to kill farming the harder players will look for farming spots. If you are going to require 500+ items for something and you keep nerfing the drop rate down to 1-2 an hour then people will just look for another place to farm.
If they do manage to nerf ALL the farming spots then people will just leave because the effort isn’t worth it anymore.
Of course by the logic of the people here it seems that they should prevent all mobs from dropping loot because apparently getting loot is an exploit.
For those of you who don’t know, grubbing was the practice of using a champion risen giant to spawn risen grubs and killing the grubs which dropped T5/T6 Venoms for crafting. You could keep the giant alive for 20-30 minutes and just kill endless waves of grubs.
It was essentially a event with waves of grubs instead of other enemies. This was really the only way to farm T5/T6 venom drops (well at least for 20 minutes until the anti-farm code kicked in and you got 0 loot)
But apparently Anet decided to remove yet another way to get mats. Upon killing a risen grub you now receive the message:
“This content has been disabled, try again later”
And you get no loot of any kind.
Thank you for removing the last viable way to get high level mats, the game is now 100% grind!
I just checked and mine hasn’t reset but it made me wonder something. All the various categories go to a 4th tier. Does that hold true for world bosses? Because if so, I’ve got 4/20 and 4 is all I’ve seen since launch. I haven’t played this weekend, but still. That’s an awful lot of world bosses to come across and they don’t seem to be all that common.
Not all categories go to 4 tiers. If you hover over the end square thing it will say how many tiers it has.
Lol if they ban all the people currently exploiting CoF I don’t think there will be anyone left playing the game.
When 99% of players feel the need to exploit something because they see no other reasonable way to complete it then I don’t think the problem is with the players.
That’s easy, spend it on making me rich!
<— there’s my account name right there, just send it on over. I take money in any increments.
First run of CoF: -8s (3s reward, 11s repair cost)
Second run of CoF: 3s
Third run of CoF: 3s
One of the biggest problems right now is that the team with the most people wins. They just run around in a group of 80-100 people and literally steamroll anything in their path.
If WvW was broken down into smaller fights taking place all over the world it would be a lot more fun and interesting.
A simple fix for this is a zerg debuff. Any time there is a group of players over a set limit in an area they would get a damage and armor debuff. The larger the group the larger the debuff.
This would encourage people to split up and spread out instead of massing in one giant lump of lag. You could also adjust to to vary depending on the size of the objective in the area. A supply camp would give the debuff for any groups bigger then say 10, while SM castle wouldn’t give the debuff until 100 players.
Leatherworkers requires 5 globs per exotic. No, Jewelers are not special.
We are talking about Rares not exotics…
And to the cost comparison guy. Sure both those things get you to 400, but Jewelers get 1 item and leatherworkers get 4 items which can all be salvaged for ectos.
I missed out on the 3 big money makers….
1. The discovery of Mystic Coins use (coins went from 20c to 5s in 1 night)
2. Cooking changes (vanilla beans went from practically free to 70c each)
3. CoF speed runs
The 3rd one was the slowest income but also the most wide spread. People made 100+ Gold in 5 minutes with the first 2 changes. I managed to miss out on both of them.
I am currently sitting at 9 gold in the bank, and a decent amount of mats. But none of the rarer mats. I play pretty casually though so I am fine with it, though I am hoping to make more.
I have to agree with most of the people in here. Anet is slowly nerfing the game into a horrible grind fest.
They had such a great game but patch after patch they do nothing but nerf nerf nerf to make everything a grind. It takes 6 ectos for me to craft an exotic with Jeweling. I average 1 rare every 3 runs of CoF (140% MF). I get 1 ecto every other rare roughly.
This means I have to do 36 runs of CoF just to get enough mats for 1 piece of jewelry. And this is the FASTEST method i’ve found so far… I mean how absurd is that?
Not to mention I now lose and average of 3s per run of CoF due to the increased difficulty and reduced rewards.
You don’t need crafting. If you sell all of your materials at the TP, odds are that you’ll be able to afford a couple exotic pieces without any problem. Crafted exotics cost little over the sum of materials in most of the cases.
I sold most of my stocked mats for 8g yesterday.
I think you may have misinterpreted my point.
All exotic gear is equal to each other. Exotic chest piece = another exotic chest piece.
I don’t really have a probelm with that.
But the amount of time required to get a different exotic (for purely cosmetic reasons) is the problem with the lack of being able to solo for it. To get a piece of exotic gear, which is of equal value, requires dozens of dungeon runs.
Now before you say GW1 had a ton of grind to it, a lot of GW1’s grind was also solo…and you could achieve the grind in multiple ways. In GW1 you could farm gold, farm missions, do hardmodes for more rewards or do stuff like underworld for direct materials for armors.
But in GW2, you can only do dungeon grinds for the vast majority of exotic gear.
Thing is you can get MAX level 80 gear without grinding so anything else is for kitten and COSMETICS nothing more therefore there IS a GRIND for kitteners and COSMETIC freaks. Nothing in dungeons is REQUIRED thus GRIND isn’t REQUIRED. If you grind you CHOOSE to grind you don’t have to. Thus Anet told the truth because there is NO GRIND to LEVEL 80 or level 80 Max gear.
I’m not sure how you got your level 80 exotic gear but I am still grinding for mine… You need to either:
1. Get it by crafting
a. Level up a crafting profession (major grind)
b. Get enough ectos and fine crafting mats for a full set of armor (major grind)
2. buy it from the TP. Costs about 12 gold, more gold then i’ve made after playing 100 hours.
3. Grind 100+ dungeon runs
Sorry really not seeing how you can get max level gear without grinding…
If you are fighting in a zerg then I agree. However you will not beat any explorable dungeons spamming 1-3
