Heck, the description isn’t even right. It says right on the item that it can be used in conjunction with lodestones in the mystic forge… except it can’t…
When they introduce that Crystal dragon at some point in the future you can bet there will be a whole line of crystal weapons. Still a long way off but it follows the pattern.
I don’t understand all this talk about getting legendary weapons “the cheap way”. Unless you have somehow amassed 2000g (very very very very few people) then there is only one way to get a legendary and that is through a lot of hard work.
1.2 million karma… can’t be bought, takes time and dedication.
500 WvW badges… can’t be bought, takes time and dedication.
100% Map completion… can’t be bought, takes time and dedication.
Dungeon Gift… can’t be bought, takes time and dedication.
Completing the 4 above things through normal gameplay will net you approximately 400g. Are people suggesting that using that gold to buy things off the TP is somehow cheap and didn’t require work? Are you suggesting that to make the item truly worthy I should throw away that gold and then farm the mats separately?
Investing money, doing research, watching trends. These things don’t make you evil, they don’t make you a cheater. Everyone is capable of doing them and everyone is capable of making money off the TP. I use the TP a grand total of about 15 minutes a day and I make a decent income from it. Not enough to buy a Legendary off the TP but enough to keep making progress towards my goal of Bolt.
It will end when the average price of creating a precursor in the mystic forge is less then the average price on the TP.
It’s not the worst conversion. Sure there are RNG alternatives but this just sets a sure bottom line for the value of laurels. With high lodestone prices the value goes up. It may not always be the best one to go for, but at the very least, you know what you get which is not true for a weapon box.
The price of wine is fixed, the price of cores and lodestones goes up and down together, so these binding agents will always be worth the same.
Previously cores always sold for a maximum of 30s less then lodestones due to the conversion. All this will do is make core prices rise effectively making the whole process even more expensive then it already was.
Even now you can get more money for your laurels from buying Dyes, and if you get 4 armor boxes you will always get at least 1.5g worth of stuff with the possibility of gaining much more. The binding agent could actually have you losing money depending on the price difference between cores and lodestones.
Just to clarify the new Mystic Binding agent does NOT accept lodestones in the mystic forge. After experimenting with different mats it is simply a replacement for Elonian Wine in the core upgrade recipe. Essentially you are trading 10 laurels for 2g 25s.
Which is an awful trade, probably the worst one yet.
I can confirm that these are a huge waste of Laurels. Unlike the description says they can NOT be used with lodestones at all.
As far as I can tell this was an attempt by Anet to lead us into thinking they fixed the lodestone situation while also making us spend 10 days worth of work for nothing you couldn’t get in 30 minutes of dungeon running.
Why Anet why!?!?!?
We don’t need the exact same recipe we already have, we need a new recipe. This one is even worse then the last one.
A simple conversion recipe would have done wonders to bring the lodestone prices in line.
So it is a ridiculous and tedious grind… but you don’t want one because they are too easy to get?
the mobs for that event don’t drop loot so jokes on them…. only the normal mobs that slowly respawn in the area of the quest drop loot… which is painfully slow compared to just about any other event in Orr.
I’m leveling an alt up on Jade Quarry. I was very suprised by the number of people in low level areas. There were so many people in the 15-25 human zone that I had to group up to get credit for the events (stupid warriors 1-shotting everything)
The problem is 2 fold. The biggest problem is culling. When a thief comes out of stealth he essentially gets 2-3 seconds of “free” stealth while his model is rendered. Since most stealths only last 2-3 seconds to begin with it is essentially a 100% bonus.
The second problem is the skill cloak and dagger, it is an initiative based skill that provides 2 seconds of stealth. When properly traited it lasts 3 seconds and you regenerate most of the initiative used while in stealth allowing you to pop in and out. Every other stealth skill available in the game provides 3-5 seconds of stealth with a 30+ second CD.
Of course the biggest problem with stealth is Ash Legion Spy Kits. Infinite stealth for every class in the game…
This is not possible, they removed this ability back when transfers were free. If you mine an ori node on one server it is gone for you on ALL servers.
None of the suggestions here are very good. Anet has stated that their target is for 5% of the population to get legendaries. We are probably already past that number, the effort required to get a legendary really isn’t that much. Takes about 500 hours of play time to get.
Right now the only thing keeping people from making legendary weapons in mass is precursor and lodestone prices. Precursors will continue to rise in price until the average price to make one yourself is the same as the cost of the precursor. Right now the only precursors that actually reflect that price is Dawn, Dusk and The Lover. As people start going for their second and third legendaries some of the other precursors will start to rise in price as demand for them increases.
These communist suggestions of making everyone poor so you can have a precursor is sickening.
just checked the gw2wiki
You have 1% chance of getting crystalline dust from opening heavy moldy bag
so there goes the idea of farming heavy moldy bags for getting crystalline dust. Only recomended for people with masochist tendencies
In a typical hour of farming I pull in about 75 moldy bags and ~5 dust plus 1g of blues/greens. that works out to be enough to end up with about 30 Dust an hour. That really isn’t that bad.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be an accomplishment. Buying a legendary with cash would cost over $1200. I seriously doubt many people have done that.
One of the gifts for obtaining the legendary is called “Gift of Fortune”. It isn’t called gift of moderate income, or welfare gift. It takes a lot of money to make a legendary, that is by design, thus the FORTUNE part. I hardly see how you make that fortune (as long as you aren’t exploiting) matters. Everyone has access to the same game, same resources and same starting conditions. Selling mats you don’t need and buying the ones you do is just common sense.
Precursors are priced according to their popularity and their rarity. A couple people did exploit this market, but since it added many precursors into the market it did lower prices that otherwise would be even worse then they are now.
The 2 million karma, the 100% map completion, the 500 WvW badges and the 200 SP’s are all achievements you can’t buy and each one takes significant effort.
Lodestones are a mess right now, I do think something needs to be done to equalize them and make them more accessible. Currently grinding lodestones is the hardest part of some legendaries.
These guys have a problem with Ferrari’s in RL.
Ferrari example doesn’t fit at all in GW2 at all since sports cars have never been nor will they ever be available for some people for a 35th of a price because they got lucky and bought theirs rly fast when they fist came out OR stole them (godskull thing) and got away with it OR they dropped 75% in price at one point cuz the manufacturers got bored of making profit OR they just found the keys on the sidewalk AND Ferrari’s aren’t 1.5M $ now when they 1st came out at 250k $.
“Hence if you make an assumption that those 3 The Chosen listed on the TP are the only The Chosen available, that is just that. An assumption that may not be true.”
It is for Dusk. 610g 650g same crap.
This post use to be MUUUUUCH worse before I noticed Ursan has over 4k achievement pts and is in a dungeon at 6 am which rendered most of the old post almost certainly wrong. My bad.
I hate to be the one to break it to you, but every single thing you listed about Ferrari’s is false. First of all there are lottery’s and drawings where people can win a Ferrari by buying a cheap raffle ticket (exactly the same as gambling in the mystic forge).
Secondly, if you bought a Ferrari really fast when it first came out it would have cost you about $18,000. Now they run for more then 10x that (exactly like when precursors were cheap when they first came out and now they greatly rose in price)
Also I don’t know what country you live in, but in mine people steal cars all the time.
Also the more popular models are now much more expensive then $1.5 million and they were much cheaper then 250k meaning farrari’s are much worse off then precursors (clearly the work of EVIL MARKET MANIPULATORS!!!)
Turns out Farrari’s aren’t a good example to compare to GW2 precursors but only because they are much much worse off then the precursor market in every way.
I’d suggest leveling an alt of a completely different play style and race from your main. You’d be surprised at how many DE’s and things you miss the first time around even if you have 100% map completion. The world is currently full of people leveling alts. I have a level 30 mesmer and there are a ton of people in the world all the time.
The inflation on gold/gem is getting worse. The prices are constantly going up and the ratio between gold-to-gem and gem-to-gold is slowly moving appart.
Also I have, on several occasions, observed that mystical plot based on ‘y=mx+c’. If this is not an indication of market manipulation then please correct me if I’m wrong.
You’re wrong on two issues.
1) Inflation happens over time. The dollar in 1970 is not the same as a dollar in 1975, 1980, 1985, etc. It’s not getting worse, it’s just running it’s normal course.
2) There is no market manipulation.
0_o ???
1) Have you ever wondered what is causing the dollar value to change? One or several aspects of the economy get manipulated by individuals/groups and eventually, over time, the economy has to ‘adjust’, or as you said “…it’s just running it’s normal course.”.
2) Refer to 1)
Also, I’m still waiting on an awser to this – “On several occasions I have observed the mystical plot based on ‘y=mx+c’. If this is not an indication of market manipulation then please correct me if I’m wrong”
So please, anyone, prove me wrong this is not part of market manipulation.
and this is why it is pointless to try and argue with these people.
Remember that Sell orders != supply and buy order != demand
As a market noob, please explain why this statement is true … I would of thought sell orders = items available on the market, therefore = supply and buy orders = items people want to buy, therefore = demand …
The problem is that items you see on the market are the ones that are NOT selling. If you look at the ecto supply from data sites like gw2spidy you will see an almost constant supply, yet that is only a very small portion of the ectos that are actually being traded. If I had to guess I would say that even though the ecto supply on the TP is around 8000 at any given time that there are probably close to 20,000 traded on a daily basis.
The sell and buy orders aren’t indicative of the actual amount of the item being bought and sold in a day. Most of them are listed and sold within seconds, so you don’t see them on sites like gw2spidy which only takes a data sample every 15 minutes.
A dozen players with 10k gold wouldn’t even scrape one of those markets.
Well i understand supply and demand quite well.
And you dont need a dozen players to manipulate one item that the majority of players cant afford.
A good example was seeing myself 30 celestial dyes vanishing from the tp to reappear a minute later at an increased price.
Thats far more than what i would call scrapeing for that particular item since it did set the base price 2 gold higher.
That is the thing players dont like to see,and perhaps a hard cap on price should had been introduced.
buying 30 celestial dyes off the TP in any of the last 2 weeks and re-listing them for 2g higher would have resulted in a loss of 10+g. So either you are dealing with the worlds dumbest market manipulators of all time, or the market you are referring to is not in fact being manipulated.
Game must be doing great if you start complaining about this…
Tell me, what advantage does more achievement points have? O.o
None yet, but that’s the point. Anet said they are adding a reward system that uses your achievement points. If you work hard for 6 months to get a bunch of achievement points only to be beaten out in 3 days of someone doing a daily that takes 30 minutes it just kind of sucks. We just want some consistency between effort and points.
Warriors seem fine in PvP, they should leave PvP unchanged. In PvE warriors need some major nerfs. No class should have the best armor, the best HP and the best damage, it leaves no reason to ever bring another class. The whole point of having light armor classes is that their vulnerability means they get higher damage, if they get rid of that then they are just a liability.
Of course that isn’t what will happen. Anet only cares about PvP balance even though that is only a small part of the game. They will just keep buffing warrior until 99% of PvE players are forced to play warrior alts. I already gave in and made one, the OPness is hilarious, you can just steamroll everything, you don’t even have to think about it.
Sure warrior is boring as kitten, but when you can kill things 3 times as fast, take on twice as many mob’s as other classes, don’t ever need to worry about dying and get more credit for AOE events then any other class, then for making money that just leaves playing a boring warrior.
I’ve never had a problem. If i’m doing a dungeon run it is really easy. Same with a fractal run. If I am leveling an alt it is also easy, wondering around doing events usually has lots of players and NPC’s I can help. If I am making money on my main it is easy, always plenty of people to rez during temple/dragon events.
I’ve noticed recently (since Jan 28th patch?) that the world populations seem to be decreasing, at least for NA servers. There are no Full servers, and where there used to be just a few High compared to Very High, there is now sometimes about 60/40 Very High/High.
I’m not trying to say the sky is falling. I’m just curious. Is this a reflection of population changes? Has ANet upped the capacity per server?
We created more capacity a little while ago guesting went up live to allow more chances for people to move around their home worlds if they wished to do so. In game population wise, you’ll be excited to know login numbers and peak concurrency numbers have been slowly going up or staying consistent depending on the day going on 6 weeks in a row now. We’re very excited to see that =)
This is awesome news. I know on my server this is definitely true. I’m leveling up an alt and I consistently see people all over the world. And It takes a good 30-40 minutes to get into LA from the overflow even at 7:00 AM server time.
Warriors currently have the highest armor, the highest health and the highest sustained DPS of any class. There is really no reason to ever bring another class unless you have need of some specific gimmick like stealth, portal or reflect. Guardians are useful because they can help protect classes that aren’t warriors, but if you have all warriors you don’t really need the guardian anymore.
So I have almost finished my bolt after putting in a lot of hard work. All I need is the stupid charged lodestones, but i’ll get them eventually. The problem is that I am only going to receive my bolt on 1 character. Why is this a problem you ask? Well because I didn’t earn my bolt with 1 character, I earned it with 3 characters. They can all use swords, I used them all to collect mats, earn karma, etc, etc…
But after all my characters worked for the last 6 months on this goal I will only get to display that hard work on one character. This is rather disappointing because i’d like to show off my hard work whenever I am playing, not just for one of my characters. Is there any way we can make legendary skins an account wide unlock? I don’t care about the stats, I’ll glady earn/make an exotic with the stats I want, but the skin was earned by all my characters and I think it should be displayable on all of them.
I know this is possible because all my characters can display the rewards for my GW1 achievements, so something similar would be great for legendary item skins.
If this is not something that is going to happen then I will end up just shelving my alts and only ever playing with the character I equip it with, which would be disappointing.
I got my zap from the karka event. It didn’t drop for me, but it brought prices for everything down enough that I was able to just barely get enough money to buy it. And by just barely I really mean it. I even had to salvage and sell the armor off my back and both my weapons. When all was said and done I was standing naked in LA with nothing to my name but Zap.
The first thing I did was go to queensdale via asura gate and killed enough level 5 things to get enough money for a WP so I could buy some green armor off a karma vendor in Orr so I could grind enough for a new set of armor.
Depends on what the mystic binding agent does. If it works like I think it will then I am probably going to spend all my laurels on them for a while.
is it really just talking to the laurel vendor or do you have to buy something? if they are forcing us to spend our laurels on things we don’t want to buy then you bet I will complain, that is a deal breaker for me.
OP, what level group are you looking for?
I have had no problems finding a group (within 30 seconds) for level 12 and 14.
With the changes there is absolutely no reason to ever do an odd level fractal. Don’t bother looking for odd level groups because it is just a waste of time, always look for even level groups. Your progress should look something like: 2,2,4,4,6,6,8,8,10,10…. You could do 2,4,6,8,10 but then your reward level will fall way below the level you are doing and you won’t have enough experience so I recommend against it.
I suspect they will plummet once we hit the 10 day mark and people can transmute lodestones with the new mystic binding agent. Of course this will suck for people who need glacial and crystal lodestones as the price for those is going to skyrocket, but the lodestone market will be more even across the board at least.
I doubt it will go that quick. There is better stuff to get than 10 mystic binding stuff. I for one wont spend any laurels on them for a long time.
I think that will depend entirely on the recipes that are discovered. If it is only a 1-1 conversion then no one will bother. If it is a 10-10 conversion that is 20g profit every 10 days, not great but not bad either. If there is a 100-100 conversion recipe then that is a 200g profit every 10 days based on current prices, and things will change quickly.
I’m taking a wait and see approach for the moment. someone will test the recipes on day 10.
The unicorn Bow is probably the second most popular legendary in terms of looks, right behind Twilight. They seem to know what the majority of players want in terms of flying unicorns.
This was really the only way to do this. Every other form of currency has been farmed for the last 5 months, any introduction of Ascended gear into an already existing currency system would defeat the purpose of Ascended gear (i.e harder to get then exotics). If they added amulets to any other place no one would ever touch the laurel amulets as they would have no need to.
Anet’s only current solution is to add a new currency every time they add a new piece of ascended gear. I suspect at some point we will have too many reward currencies and they will need to be streamlined which will be when they add a bunch of methods to obtain already existing ascended gear.
As of 2 weeks ago they stated they are not currently working on a scavenger hunt, it was just an idea they mentioned for the distant distant future.
I suspect they will plummet once we hit the 10 day mark and people can transmute lodestones with the new mystic binding agent. Of course this will suck for people who need glacial and crystal lodestones as the price for those is going to skyrocket, but the lodestone market will be more even across the board at least.
The funny thing is that if they didn’t nerf the drop rates, next week all these same people would be here complaining that they can’t make any money because T6 mats are worthless.
I just played the game normally, finished the daily in 20 minutes. That leaves you 2 hours and 40 minutes to continue playing the game normally.
Guess I don’t see the problem.
what “keys” are you referring too? unless this is a pvp thing only ones i know about are BLC keys.
The Lionguard girl used to sell BLC keys, they removed them because it was much cheaper to convert gems→gold→forge→comms→Keys then it was to gems→keys
Harvesting tools still seem like the best bet to me, I mean you’ll always need them, so why not?
Make. Fractals are more accessible, Dailies are not so boring, new content is coming this afternoon, dungeons took a step in the right direction, and a ton of bugs were fixed. Also temples are more fun, meaningful and have better rewards, and Orr is not a nightmare anymore.
If your biggest complaint is that you have to do different things to earn a new reward then I say the game is headed in the right direction.
So far i’ve loved everything about this patch except for a few bugs that i’m sure will be fixed in the next few days. Sure there is always stuff they can do or add, but this patch was a step in the right direction. Keep it up Anet!
As far as i’m aware they are “armor” boxes aren’t they? I don’t think they drop weapons at all.
I love the new dailies. Mixing it up is a great idea. Also the new dailies take less time then the old ones did. I managed to do them in about 30 minutes.
The key is to do what Anet originally intended for these new dailies. Go to different zones. Different zones make certain requirements laughably easy.
Shelters gate in Lost shore- > 30 dead NPC’s every 10 minutes when they rush out to fight the risen.
Gathering→ any zone
Dodging→ find and event with an AOE boss, or WvW, you can dodge things almost non-stop
I could go on, but figuring out the best place to do things is part of the fun.
What use is the Increased Experienced gained by 20% ones if you have to be such a high level to get gear with infusion slots?
SP’s are one of the most useful items in the game. Plus it is a great way to level up alts faster.
1. Laurel’s will be gotten from all achievements not just dailies, this is just step 1.
2. I’m not sure where you got the idea that the only method for getting ascended gear will be laurel’s. In fact the devs have specifically said that different pieces will all be gotten from different methods, and that they plan on having multiple methods for each piece. You can already get rings from both fractals and laurels. So your entire calculation is essentially worthless since it doesn’t convey any sense of reality.
people were posting in Orr chat, 1 person got 37 unid dyes, one person got some minis, one person got an exotic weapon, lots of karma items, and those junk items out the wazzoo. Seems pretty random, luck of the draw. But it is a use for karma just like people have been asking for.
the daily took me less then 10 minutes to complete, how can anyone possible complain about that? If you don’t want to play parts of the game that is fine, but don’t expect rewards for playing the whole game if you don’t play it.
Haven’t been able to find anything here either. Looked all around Wayfarer.
This thread is hilarious. The game has literally 0 downtime, the least amount of any game currently on the market, and so many leagues away from other MMO’s it isn’t even funny.
The Holiday events all had very specific times associated with them because they were limited time events and were on a set schedule. This is not a holiday event, this is a standard MMO patch.
The developers live in the PST time zone. This means the patch will go live between 7:00am-5:00PM PST… you know… when they work. If your boss told you to come in at 3am on a Monday once a month you would probably laugh in his/her face. Yet you are sitting here demanding that this is what they should do.
