From the Wiki:
These rewards can only be earned once per week per guild mission type. For example, completing 2 guild bounties will only reward one set of rewards, but then completing a guild trek will be rewarded with another set.

So based upon this information from Arena Net’s own Wiki – not receiving any commendations from the Guild Trek is a bug.

That wiki is written by players. It was just assumed that you would get 2 comms per mission type. No one thought Anet was crazy enough to make us work 6 weeks for 1 item. There was never any actual source for that, it was just assumed to be common sense.

But now it looks like we were completely off base.

Don’t bother, i’ve made multiple threads and posted in multiple forums begging the devs to please give us an explanation on how guild comms are supposed to function. They have completely ignored the issue. I don’t think they actually thought about it much before they implemented it and they are now scrambling to come up with some reasonable explanation as to why we should grind 6 weeks for 1 item.

My guild has gotten 5/6 on T3 without doing any of that. We all gather in some central location pop the T6 mission and spread out into 6 teams and Hunt!

It is a ton of fun. If it wasn’t for the few totally insanely hard to find bounties we would have succeeded multiple times.

I was really ok with the guild missions until I found out that you can only get 2 comms a week MAXIMUM. different mission types DON’T actually award more comms. you get 2 per week, that’s it. It will take 12 weeks of grinding to get 2 items… that’s even more of a grind then wow.

If you could get the maximum merits per week by running tier1 multiple times what’s the purpose of tier2 and tier3?

And whats the purpose of T1 and T2 now? If you cannot have full merits per week? Which everybody wants of course. So they only need to run T3 now.
Bigger guilds dont need T1 or T2, and small guilds are making mission aliances, and when they do, they dont need T1 and T2 too.
So T1 and T2 are useless. Even in that big guild missions forum everybody will write you: form alliance with big guild.

There are different tier’s because they get progressively harder. In order to complete T3 you really need to have people scout and find all 16 bounties ahead of time and follow them around. This will take several hours to do and you’ll need at least 50 people to make it possible. Then you need to be able to kill 6 of them in the 15 minute time frame. Also not an easy task since some bounties take 5 minutes+ to kill (half baked) on their own. So you need multiple teams attacking all 6 bounties at once.

T1 on the other hand is easy. Get 10-20 people together and activate the mission and you can probably finish it as long as you don’t get one of the 3 bounties that need to be pre-scouted due to their large pathing area.

On a side note, comms are also limited more then originally thought. You get 2 for the week, different mission types don’t award additional comms.

Has anyone run guild trek missions yet? I’ve heard conflicting reports about whether or not they award guild comms.

I’ve also heard conflicting reports about earning more comms from hopping around to different guilds. Some people claim you can keep earning comms if you keep changing guilds, while others say the comms are account bound to the weekly and you can only get them once regardless of how many guilds you are in.

I honestly just want to know what I should be reporting as bugs, as exploits or not reporting at all because it’s how it is supposed to be. But getting an answer seems to be something that is being avoided for whatever reason. I don’t want to be banned for exploiting, but I also don’t want to spend 6 weeks getting something I could get in 1.

Let’s look at the actual problems here:

1. Being able to run the dragon chests on alts. This has always been possible since launch day. Clearly it has never caused an issue in the last 6 months. Not the core problem.

2. Guesting. Available for the previous two months. Overflow and lag problem didn’t exist in the previous 2 months. Not the core problem.

3. People exploiting and running multiple chests per character. This was possible since launch. People used to run the dragon chests 5-6 times a day before the patch, yet there was no lag or overflows. Not the core problem

4. Dragon loot increased. Immediate lag, overflow, crashing, disconnects and population problems.

Now that we know the facts, which one of these 4 things is the cause of overflow and lag problems. (hint: it isn’t 1, 2, or 3.)

As long as they isolate the good loot to small open world areas, they will be crowded, end of story.

I’m not sure if this has been pointed out or not, but Explorable mode dungeons ARE the hard mode. The “normal” mode as you called it is story dungeons, where you get the story and a toned down version. Explorable modes are the “hardest” content in the game, the hard modes of other games.

I bought about 5,000 ancient bones when they were at market price. a month later I saw they had risen to over 1s each. I quickly sold thinking how smart I was… now they are 5s each… lost out on a ton of gold there.

Bought 3 Energizer’s during the karka event. Sold them 2 weeks later for a crap profit since it didn’t seem they were going anywhere. well they are 10x what they were then. If I had sold them now i’d be done with my legendary.

Bought a ton of toy sword skins at the beginning of the skin craze a few weeks back. If I had sold during the peak I would have made 200+g but I held too long and now they are worthless.

I did the destroyer event chest run yesterday. There were like a hundred players involved. I got greens and blues at the end. I asked around if anyone got anything good. Only two replied that they got crap drops. If someone got all rares I expect them to yell in chat but no one did. Did rare drop rate really increase?

The megadestroyer and Arah chests did not get buffed for some reason. They still only drop blues.

Here is a list of chests that have a >90% chance of dropping a rare:

1. Jormag
2. Shatterer
3. Sunless
4. Jungle Wurm
5. Hydra Queen
6. Shadow Bohemoth
7. Maw
8. Fire Elemental
9. Grenth
10. Lyssa
11. Melendru
12. Dwayna
13. Balth

So each character can get at least 13 additional rares a day over what they could before the patch. I usually get closer to 20 a day now. I’ve gotten 100 ectos since the patch playing only casually.

15. Any JP chest of splendid or better.

Does that mean the borderland JP’s drop rares now? I haven’t tried them since the patch.

But all those things take time. The Jormag event takes an eternity. Even with dragon timers, there are still hordes of players waiting around for Teq and Shatt to start for 10+ minutes. All this reduces your rares-per-hour, and totally tanks your gold farm in general.

Cursed Shore (on my server at least) has been basically abandoned due to more Champ and Vet spawns since the patch. I used to be able to make quite a few rares per hour just hanging around Penitent / Shelter / Jofast. It’s much more difficult to do that now.

I’m starting to think that this patch didn’t increase the number of rares being farmed as much as it seemed initially.

you’re doing it very wrong if you are at any one of those events for more then 2 minutes. The only events worth staying for the whole time are the temple events due to the massive quantities of loot they drop. If the timers line up I can usually hit about 8 events an hour which nets me about 10-12 rares in that hour. I doubt anyone was doing that well pre-patch.

The limiting factor on these events is how early they go into overflow, not how long they actually take.

Why? Took me a few months to unlock them in gw1 I got it because I wanted them unlocked in this game like many many people did.

Also you can still unlock them if you really really want it. The mask is not hard to get unlocked.

Exactly my point. Why should I play a few months on a game that I do not enjoy to have something on an entirely different game that I want? That is not the correct way my friend.

yes it is. It is a reward for playing this games prequel. Lots of games do it. It is not new and it is a perfectly accepted thing. If you want to decide that society is wrong then it is up to you to convince 50% of more of the population so that in the future it will change. Seeing as you haven’t even convinced 1 person yet I think it is safe to say that you are not correct my friend.

People are very easily offended on this forum it seems. The OP just wanted to know what it would take for people to enjoy WvW so that it could be more enjoyable to everyone. Based on the responses it sounds like he is personally coming to your house and kicking your puppy if you don’t like WvW.

I picked my server because of WvW. I occationally to enjoy WvW, but after getting my legendary badges I stopped. I think the WvW armor looks like crap. The achievements in WvW are so absurd I would have to play this game for 50 years to get them. There is very little strategy, it boils down to who has the biggest zerg for the most hours of the day. The rewards only last a week, and it takes 4 days of that week to even get them to a noticeable amount. I could get more rewards by ignoring WvW and just playing PvE for those 4 days.

In order to make WvW something I wanted to do daily it would need:

1. More small objectives that can not be accomplished as a zerg. (i.e penalties for having a zerg, negative points, inability to capture, something)
2. achievements that are actually achievable.
3. a progression system. Rank, cosmetic rewards, new abilities, etc.
4. Rewards that are permanent but much smaller(Winning team gets a permanent .1% bonus to all categories at reset each week. capped at a reasonable amount)

If they can change those things then I would probably spend 50% of my time in WvW and 50% of my time PvE’ing

Hate to break it to you but these rewards were announced in 2010. 3 years ago. They haven’t changed since then and they have always been known on how to get them. They are a reward for people who played GW1. There is nothing new about them.

I actually found it quite entertaining myself. Some of them were pretty funny.

But if you think chat is lagging you out or causing you pain and suffering, there is the option to turn it off. I mean it is “general chat” it is used for general talking. Heck, quaggans are even relevant to the game. Even quaggan porn is better then that awful discussion about the US national debt I had to sit through in LA as I tried to sell things.

I never really understood the “it isn’t cool cause you can just buy it” thing… I mean that currently applies to every single item in the game except fractal weapons. It is very easy to buy any item with real money, or pay someone to run a skilled 4-man dungeon team if you want a dungeon item.

By that logic the only cool people in this game are the ones who run around naked with only fractal weapons. And that is only until people figure out how to regularly 4-man lvl 20+ fractals, then you’ll be able to buy those too.

Legendary weapons are popular and legendary because they are the hardest thing to get and require the greatest time/money commitment.

Jade Quarry really doesn’t need any more players, our starters zones are regularly into overflows, but if you are looking for a lot of people that’s where to be. The maps have dozens and dozens of players all the way up to the level 50 zones. 50-70 is a little deserted, but then it picks back up in the 70-80 zones.

Make it account wide 1 chest event per day problem solved. And yes there is a loophole to getting multiple chest per character per day its been reported but still has not yet been hotfixed.

How is this even considered an option for people? What a lazy, self centered, egotistical society we live in.

This is not even an option to be considered. People with multiple characters need multiple sets of gear which means they need to be able to get rewards with those multiple characters. Killing off alts would be a death blow to this game because it is what keeps starter areas alive for new players.

It is highly unlikely that guesting is actually the source of the problem. The problem is 10 people from 10 different guilds show up near event time. They each announce in their guild chat that this event with good loot is currently in progress. 30 people from each of those 10 guilds then swarm the event as fast as possible. You know have >300 people all packed into this small area and kicking the zone into overflow.

The fact is, there are tens of thousands of people on each server. It only takes about 400 people in a zone to send it to overflow. Nothing they do to guesting is going to change that.

mesmers can strip boons AND give them to your team. his perma protection and perma 25 stacks of might are quite nice to share with your guild. I would suggest that over just killing the boons.

To unlock Guild Puzzle, a Guild would have had to have bought Guild Bounty Unlock (30K infl + 3 day build), Arch VI (30K infl + 10 day build), run Guild Bounty Tier 3 10 times successfully to earn 250 merits, then Guild Puzzle Unlock (30K infl + 7 day build) then the Puzzle itself (200 infl + 1 day build).

Certainly, they could have boosted all of those builds…..and done nothing but run Bounties…so I guess it’s possible, but highly improbable that they would have had in excess of 990K influence to get it all that fast.

That’s not the problem, my guild which is only semi active pulls in about 30k influence a day, plenty of guilds have over a million influence. The problem is you only get the guild merits once per week no matter how often you run them. The maximum merits you can have right now is 50.

People have been linking 20+ guild comms in chat so there is apparently something my guild doesn’t know or there is an exploit. I really just want the devs to tell us how their new mission system works. They implemented this system and told us nothing about it so our guild doesn’t know what’s an exploit and what is just doing things efficiently.

There was a guild in LA claiming to be able to run guild puzzles already. This requires 250 guild merits. Is there some method we are missing in obtaining guild merits or is there an exploit in the system? As far as my guild can tell the guild merits actually possible are as follows:

Patch week: 25 guild merits from T3 bounty mission
Reset last night at daily reset time
25 guild merits from T3 bounty
purchase trek missions -30 merits
Trek completion 30 merits

= 50 total merits

I don’t see any way guilds could already have 250 merits.

Different guilds should not reward the extra comms, I imagine that’s an exploit or a bug. Most guilds don’t even allow you to be in multiple guilds.

I can confirm that the weekly reset at daily reset time last night. Also that it does not reset with every daily. I got another 2 comms today after the research.

There were guilds today claiming they could run guild puzzles so there is obviously some sort of exploit going on or something we are missing.

You only get the standard event rewards. Otherwise there would be no reason for guilds to strive towards the missions themselves if they could get all the rewards by just following another guild around.

well we’ve never managed to fail Tier 1, but when we failed tier 2 we were still at 15 merits, not 20 even though we killed 2/3. So it sounds like you are bugged.

Its not weekly reward its DAILY its just on a 24 hour timer, not like the standard dailies..i believe the guild currency to unlock the higher missions is 25 per week..i’m not 100% sure..

some of them are pathetically easy. Like a group of 10 can take them down in <30 seconds and they walk on a small path that can make them easy to find. Those need to be made harder because they aren’t fun.

Others are fine and a few are overtuned.

It’s all in your heads. Did a level 10 fractal last night, got 5 rares and an exotic. Loot was not changed, what you are experiencing is RNG. Sometimes you get more loot then other times.

I can confirm this is a problem on JQ as well. You now have to show up to events 15-20 minutes before they start if you want to participate.

I know that this is not a JQ server population issue because LA is not even into overflow while these events are packed. Once I was sent to the overflow and that was packed too.

Guesting either needs to be removed completely, restricted only to lower population servers, or be invite only.

Half baked doesn’t really need to be nerfed. You just need to make sure you pour enough DPS into him. I suppose you could bring him down a little, but most of the other bounties need to be increased a lot.

The hardest one by far we have encountered in Diplomat Tarban. That guy ate our our 50+ guild attack like it was nothing. 25 stacks of confusion insta kills everyone before they can stop attacking. Also I don’t know if it is intentional or not but as a thief all bleeds I apply trigger confusion hits on me when they tick. I would die without ever actually attacking if I had drop caltraps but not all the time it would only do it sporadically.

Every patch seems to make this game more unplayable… people are invisible, the lag is unbearable… what the hell is happening at A-net?

I can’t even participate in the Claw of Jormag event on my own server.

nothing has actually changed server/lag capability wise. It’s just that now the loot is better so before you had 50 or so people who saw or heard a dragon was up and went to kill it. Now you get 300+ players doing it since the loot is much better.

I don’t think there is any game ever that can handle 300 people in one spot in one zone and not lag like that. It is just beyond current technological capabilities. The solution should be more overflows if there is a very dense spot, BUT also make sure the events are copied over to the overflows as well so people don’t get screwed.

The refund policy as clearly stated in the terms of service is a maximum of 6 months after purchase. absolutely no refunds will be given after that time.

Well I did my first bounty yesturday at 5:00 PM EST (2 hours before daily reset). I got my 2 comms.

After WvW reset (today) at 3:00 PM my guild did another mission, got 0 comms.

After daily reset my guild did yet another daily mission. got 0 comms.

So it does NOT reset with the daily, with WvW or after 24 hours. It is some other as of yet unknown time for reset.

Half baked just ruined our T3. he’s a ton of fun though. We got him in T2 but we messed up and engaged too early on the T3 run.

Boss chest lockout timer

Can we get an interface in the hero tab that gives boss chest lockout timers? Now that you have implemented this raid style once a day loot scheme it is getting hard to keep track of 12 separate chests across multiple characters.

Just a simple locked/unlocked in red and green letters next to the name of each boss in a list would suffice.

1. I agree, the guild interface does suck the life out of computers, hopefully they can fix it.

2. There are hints, they are just well hidden, I agree they should trigger an event screen for the whole guild will a countdown so everyone knows what’s going on.

3. Tricky problem. Your own guild needs to have some self control. If your guild members are activating the kill before his other guildies are there then you need better guildies. Other guilds is where the problem is. You can’t not let them activate because they might be running out of time, but then all your guildies might not make it. luckily it only costs 200 influence so you can just run it again if you fail without much difficulty. I don’t have a solution other then that.

4. It is only taking a long time because you only have 1 type activated. You get 2 comms per week per mission type. once you unlock all 5 that will be a potential 10 comms a week. hardly a long grind. They are just keeping initial progression slow.

5. I think they need to buff them a bit, but a few of them are very challenging. think whole guild with 20 stacks of confusion instantly wiping the group if you attack too fast. Some are just broken easy and some are just meh. overall I think a buff would make the fights more interesting. A lot of the mechanics are pretty cool but aren’t dangerous enough to be noticed yet.

i dont care about the reward.

are the missions “fun” ? somewhat challenging ?
worth playing for somebody who doesnt care that much for numerical rewards ?

They were incredibly fun. It’s like a giant guild scavenger hunt, which is exactly the kind of thing my guild loves. We spread out and swarmed the map with 40 people. a non-guildy ended up finding it for us for one of them. The bosses we faced were very challenging. One spawned tornadoes and lightning storms that flung people everywhere and took down whole swaths of our guild.

The hunting part was what I liked best personally.

Oh, great! I was just thinking maybe our small guild COULD do them! But no, it’s a glitch. Figures.

Your guild should be able to do them just fine. When we found ours we made an announcement in map chat 30 seconds before we engaged and by the time we did an additional 15 people showed up from the map to help us out. granted we didn’t need the help but we figured people might want to see the event. So I suspect you shouldn’t have a problem bringing in locals if you don’t have enough people in just your guild.

Why one chest per toon instead of account?

you could in fact use guesting to get multiple chests per character, however it appears they have fixed this exploit as of an hour ago:

“Fixed a bug with the chests that spawn for The Claw of Jormag, The Fire Elemental, and the Volcano Destroyer Boss. They are lootable once a day per character as intended.”

It was only a few of the chests that this worked on and thankfully they have been fixed. Now it is per character as it should be.

You should never be punished for making an alt because alts are what keep games alive longer. They should be rewarding people and encouraging them to level alts because it keeps the world alive for new players.

Is this a fix to the guesting exploit that allowed guests to loot more then one chest a day or is this an unrelated fix?

They should really just remove the 10 clover recipe. It causes people nothing but frustration. sure there are still a few very unlucky people with the 1 clover recipe, but most of them are from the 10 clover one. No matter how many times you tell people not to do it they just can’t help but do it anyway.

On the plus side ectos are very easy to get now so people can do more attempts. It took me 300 ob shards to get my 77, I was pretty much average I guess. Never used the 10 recipe though.

The only mistake the devs really made was launching the game before they implemented ascended gear. 99% of these complaints wouldn’t exist if ascended gear was in at launch. The whole vertical progression wasn’t a thing until after launch is just plain dumb. I know I didn’t start with level 80 exotics. I had to vertically progress through 80 levels and 5 gear tiers before I hit the max.

The problem was the max came way too fast and people hit the brick wall that was the legendary grind. Now we have ascended gear to add a point further in the progression that gives a reasonable goal. If they add another tier after ascended next year then you may have an argument of a endless gear grind. But so far i’m just not seeing it.

The dailies have been SIGNIFICANTLY improved. They are so much better then they originally were. I don’t know how you could possibly argue otherwise since the requirements are easier then they were, contain the same options as originally, and now additionally added more options for more play styles and also encourage the use of all the game world.
