Some transformation tonics give unfortunate advantages. For example, the Guild Banner Tonic (and many others) can be used as a stun break, even breaking the user out of unbreakable stuns. ANET can’t be expected to go through every tonic that exists and see if it can be used to exploit in any way. Best disable them all together.
As far as crafting stations in raids, Swagger, you’re in luck. There’s a cooking station in Spirit Vale!
Very impressive. Great job guys!
Here’s the thing. People expect the squad (especially in PVE) to work like the invites/join. Make it work like that, or at the least, make it so you can right-click on guildies to invite to squad (like you can to party). Right now, it’s mostly borked, we have to get people to exit the instance (raid) go to guild hall, right click and join/invite. You literally need to either see a tag on the map or be standing in front of the person.
The raid is fine, getting people into it, however, is not.
/squadinvite [name] ought to work
Saying they were a success would, IMO, be an understatement of how good they are. Wing 1 is absolutely amazing; it’s well-designed and well-tuned raid encounters paired with GW2’s fantastic combat system. It’s very tough (but appropriately tough), and very rewarding. That feeling you get when you progress further in the raid is pretty great.
Just my .02, for whatever it may be worth.
Yes, they still drop.
If you really want one, farm trash mobs that drop loot. Underground Facility (Dredge) and Jade Maw ought to be prime choices.
Which would mean that if the boxes were farmed solely from game play, we’d have an average value of 14 silver and 20 copper per box.
Thanks for the data!
He’s bugged on some maps, but not on others.
Move around to different maps (harder than it sounds, since there’s no shard selection system at all) and you’ll eventually find one where he’ll speak with you.
Good luck!
1-9: 0 AR
10-19: 10 AR
20-29: 25 AR
30-39: 40 AR
40-49: 55 AR
50: 70 AR
Or to generalize it based on agony tiers (of which there are 6, including tier 0), we have some formulas:
F(Tier) = Agony Resist Needed
Tier 0 formula: F(Tier) = 0
Tier 1 through 5 formula: F(Tier) = 10 + 15*(Tier-2)
Because you’re joining farm-type groups for the dungeon, who just want to get it out of the way ASAP because they’ve been playing it as-is for literally years. So, since a non-80 unfortunately contributes a lot less than an 80 due to full access to traits, lower levels aren’t very welcome, since they’ll just slow down the run. Same goes for inexperienced players (although, don’t get this forum started on how inexperienced most of the people in “experienced” only groups are…).
Try making your own, all welcome group. In my experience, such groups usually fill quite fast. Heck, you can even put something in there like ‘first timer, wanting to learn’ or similar. Again, you’ll very likely find helpful people joining your group. Want to watch the cutscenes? Add ‘watching cutscenes’. It’s really pretty easy and painless to make a group in this game. Give it a try!
Heh, what a crazy weekend.
TIL:
NikeEU.7690, Pandabro.8743, Laggo.8973, Purple Miku.7032, HwaRyun.1807, TheFamster.7806, Brimstar.9036 and Zui.9245 all give off white knight vibes.
I nearly fell out of my chair laughing at a couple of those.
LOL! Thanks for the share. That’s epic.
I’d be fine if this carried over to Ascended, too. However, Legendaries should just be what they were originally supposed to be: a cool and hard to obtain skin, which are 100% equivalent to the highest tier of gear.
If you want multiple sets of gear, you can just get some additional ascended equipment with different runes or sigils. Or Exotic equipment, for that matter. You can even transmute these with the same appearance as your Legendary.
I saw a stream where people were doing duo Arah Path 2. They killed all the trash mobs up to Operative Belka, the first boss. Then they got her to 80% before wiping (i.e. down 20%).
Clearly since Arah Path 2 is designed for 5 players, it’s garbage content that’s not even remotely hard. It’s not challenging. The bosses have barely any mechanics at all. It’s just forcing you to run certain stuff to face roll it.
Or maybe that’s a terrible conclusion to draw. Who can tell, other than those with basic knowledge and average reasoning skills?
Is uw easy to solo? I really don’t like underwater combat all the animations feel very locked in.
Difficulty: 3/10
Tediousness: 9/10
wow you just missed your precursor.
But he got a single spirit shard. With the spirit shard drop rate for instanced content now being abysmally low, that’s something, at least.
Don’t run too far away from the boss. That is what causes her to reset.
Phase her to 50% after activating the panel the first time, before you run away and deal with any adds. This will prevent the second issue you’re talking about.
Place a Mortar Kit consumable at the ramp. “Wait” to phase Brie until the aboms from the first wave that despawns detonate on it. You won’t have to deal with any inquest techs.
If you don’t do that, it’s still trivially easy to solo it while killing the waves, even with the stability changes. It’s just complete and total AIDS.
No, because we’re looking at how much DPS the warrior would need to gain to reach an equivalence point between the DPS EA provides the party and the DPS a Warrior that went Discipline instead of Tactics provides to the party.
You could frame the problem a different way, but you’d reach the same conclusion.
PS warrior over DPS warrior : is EA worth it over extra solo warior dps if you get your 25 mights elsewhere? Standart group composition, Mes/War/Ele/Ele/Thief.
EA is about a 4% party boost to each party member. Assume the direct DPS of every party member is equal. How much would the Warrior’s personal DPS need to increase to make up for the 16% loss? 16%.
But the Warrior doesn’t have equal personal DPS to other party members, do they? So it’s more than 16% they need to make up personally. It’s more like 20%.
tl;dr – EA all the way.
Is there actually a pve-guild around which is not using the copied [xX] pleb-tag?
vC,qT,iG,rP,iQ,tS ….. Jesus
[DnT] isn’t using it!
Anyone else care to venture a guess at DPS rankings?
We looked at this awhile back. Rotation 1 is very much inferior in terms of DPS. The advantages are that it makes things easier in terms of survival for most of the party, so I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a bad thing in PUG runs—dead PUGs don’t DPS and all
But in organized runs, there ought to be no reason to do it, excepting very niche cases like Captain Ashym, where you might want the extra CC so you can benefit from Impact sigils.
Probably a good idea to list if you’re on NA or EU.
1. You can try to wipe to the mobs and WP. This may reset the bone wall.
2. You can do the boat skip (ugh). At least it’s scenic.
Funny that they fixed this, but didn’t fix safespotting him underwater.
I want to loan some poor soul that makes a video exclusively for me with allllllllllllll portal spots in allll dungeons and fractals. In order. I’ll pay with a pat on the head and a slab of red meat.
You can skip through all of the records for that. I do accept toxic focusing crystal and golden dumplings bribes though.
You can’t though!
No one has even used a Mesmer in a Cliffside fractal record, for example.
Watch for him holding the staff forward and glowing. The glowing is the big thing to watch out for, as the glowing for that is much different than that of Flamewall. With enough practice and some creative requisitioning of your camera etc. so you can better see him, you should be able to reliably spot it.
If there is no squire up, you can give your first Aegis the second you notice the animation. Give the second as soon as the first gets stripped. If the squire is up, you have to be a bit more careful, and when you time your aegises is going to depend on when the squire last attacked (happens about once every 2 seconds).
Question: how much AR do you need for fractals past 40?
Came back since quitting around January 2013. Before I quit no one gave a kitten about how much AR you had at high level fractals since the max was 25 (30 if you had an infused back piece which very few people had) and would get nearly one-shot regardless of AR.
40 to 49: 55 AR
50: 70 AR
Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll update the links in the guide shortly, but for now there’s:
Good news, you can do Fractal 50 with a guild, or friends, or non-idiots from LFG. If you don’t like certain groups, don’t play with them. There’s nothing forcing you to do so.
As for the loot… Only RNGsus and possibly HoT fractal changes can help you.
Apparently “as five” when using the number 5 is censored. Brilliant.
Very impressive duo!
@Enko: They used stealth consumables, etc. This is not a valid trio record under the Dungeons & Fractals rule set, as trios follow the same rule set kitten man and 4 man. Removing this from being a trio record.
So you didn’t skip any mobs in Arah?
Not even in Path 2?
Because there’s this one area in Path 2 with infinitely respawning mobs that you have to skip by design. I wonder how you got past it.
Are you really claiming that all skips, even skips you’re forced to do by the design, is “counter intuitive to the design and idea of the devs when looking at dungeons”? Also, if not for skipping, why does stealth exist in PvE, and do you really think ANET didn’t think players might use it to bypass mobs they allowed you to bypass with it?
Record is not valid under the rule set. You can’t stack bloodlust ‘before’ the timer starts, and off-video.
Curious, have you run with the different options at all? What was your take on it?
I haven’t, yet. I’m pretty interested in trying it out though, just to see how it goes first hand.
For those interested, an analysis (involving actual math instead of just feels) of tanky guardians versus berserker’s guardians in fractal trios: http://dtguilds.com/forum/m/6563292/viewthread/23980393-analysis-tanky-guardian-worth-in-trios/post/last#last
Getting hit by one of the cannon AOEs during the phase transitions will also get you stuck in combat.
You can actually get hit by some of the cannons and get OOC. Good luck figuring out which circles belong to which cannons, though.
I’m pretty sure you’re wrong about the squire being the source of the AoEs.
All of the AoEs read that they’re from Ashym in the combat log. All of them can occur when the squire is dead (as best as I can recall). Ashym does animations for them. The “Meteor Shower” (#2) even clearly emanates from him and not the squire.
Full Sinister Condition Guardian is a bit lower DPS than a Berserker’s DPS Guardian against single targets, and a bit better DPS against multiple targets. You provide a bit less utility, too.
See Obal’s stickied Guardian build guide.
NA? EU?
Message Body length must at least be 15.
15 what, I ask. ANET didn’t specify units. No unit specification is automatic fail.
In game critical chance is a lie. Calculate it yourself from precision, instead.
So you posted to tell us the following, as I read your post (perhaps it’s just vague and poorly worded enough that it can be totally misinterpreted?):
1) You’re done with meta builds. “Hello guys, this is no topic just to state I’m done with meta builds”
2) You’re done with every single person who talks about meta builds. “I am done with every single person ever in this game writing down ‘meta zerk’”
3) Every single person who talks about meta builds has no idea how to play them, or what said builds even are. “every single person ever in this game… have no idea what it is, or how to play it themselves”
4) People shouldn’t play meta builds, because no one even knows what meta builds are. “Please don’t go with the crowd if you don’t even know what it means.”
5) You can get your information from the internet or other players, even though no one but you even knows what a meta build is, but type and hype is not a good source of information. “Get your info from internet and/or players but don’t just blindly type and hype.”
#1. A lot of people post that they’re done with the meta, or anti-meta. I don’t think anyone in these forums really cares at this point.
#2. A lot of people express similar anti-meta sentiment. Again, I don’t think anyone in these forums really cares at this point.
#3. I’m not even sure what to say to this. Regardless, it doesn’t seem like something the average Dungeons & Fractals forum viewer is going to care about reading.
#4. I’m not even sure what to say to this either. Regardless, it doesn’t seem like something the average Dungeons & Fractals forum viewer is going to care about reading.
#5. What seems like good advice in isolation, makes little sense with respect to the rest of your post.
Lauren, thank you for continuing to try and get this bug addressed.
Why do you think we care about anything you mentioned in your post?
Anyone can learn to melee. Melee is ideal, because you deal a lot more damage in melee range. Additionally, IMO, melee is more fun.
With that said, of course ranging is easier. Ranging literally allows you to ignore over half of the mechanics on average, and increases the ease of reacting to many of the remaining mechanics. It’s playing the game on easy mode from a personal survival standpoint.
So how to learn to melee? I’d check out gw2dungeons.net for their enemy information. Learn their mechanics well. Once you know the mechanics, you can practice reacting to them appropriately. The good news is at level 9, fractals are much less punishing than at higher levels, so your transition to full melee will be less punishing than at level 50 where you might get nearly 1-shot due to a mistake.
Clearly the Warrior is planning to goat on top of Lupi’s wall and use whatever they renamed the Missile Deflection trait to 1-shot him. Duh.
I mean that one guy awhile back even posted as such. PUGs have really raised their standards, man.
A prototype for the new gw2dungeons.net search engine: http://gw2dungeons.net/dev/Search
Nice!
Can you add a search for these forums, too? :P
Seriously, though….
Use google.
“Your query here” site: “URL HERE”
I somewhat doubt it’s a hardware or latency issue. My setup is fairly high end, and I generally consider 80ms ping to be on the high side when playing on NA (low 60ish ms is much more typical).
Many of the issues occur with much less frequency when soloing Mai, or when your team is stealthed and/or not doing stupid stuff like jumping around. Perhaps subpar hardware or high latency exaggerate the issues, but ANET’s egregiously poor track record when it comes to accurate AoE indicators makes me think this is not primarily hardware or latency related.
