I disagree, core guardian still going strong, dragon hunter just added more build variety to the guardian. Guardian is probably those few professions who’s core builds still remain strong. Burn guardian still going strong, medi guardians builds are still a threat to deal with, bunker guardian seems like they are doing okay maybe not as the others but still able manage the new HoT era. Guardian has more build diversity now. Almost every revenant is running herald.
Agreed, core Guardian still have his place. DH brings us different play style and more build versatility.
I have played Herald in the beta and I am getting the heroes points for my Revenant so I cant say a lot about it now, but on the beta when I saw all those continuos boons I said “holy crap this is OP support”, still have to play it to get any final conclusion.
I think I should post it here. When you guys fight melee classes in 1v1’s what do they do if they win? I tried fighting a DH and it seemed like I would never have enough life force, and the DH would stay in his trap and bow me to death, I couldn’t pull or fear because of stability, and I could only los for so long. So how do I fight you guys?
I had a fierce encounter with a condition reaper on wvw, he was pretty good and smart enough to keep distance and not fall on traps, and kept pressure by aplying conditions all the time, I had two condition cleanse skills and was not enough, he beated me 3 times, and now I know my build is not good against full condition builds.
I agree that in sPvP it is pretty hard to keep the distance when you need to cap for points, and this makes DH pretty powerfull for this kind of play, but in WvW when you have alot of space DH is not that hard.
just give back the WP and the map will no more seem to be so big.
Agreed. The map is big because we complained about zergs being able to get to any point of the map to quick… I remember people saying about how to slow the zerg… so they designed a map thinking of it. If you want to own this map you have to split your blob… now the issue is… there are no blobs anymore…. I hope this is a matter of time this weekend I saw more commanders on the new map and more people.
And yes the laser is ridiculous.

The map is pretty for sure.. but it is huge with a lot of hidden places and everything is so far away lol… I like the new sentry function to show enemies it helps you find people but it is not enough.
Fact is we complained a lot that zergs could move too fast in the old maps and now they created one to solve this issue… but for roamers it is pretty bad.
I take about 30 minutes to find some enemy on the map.
seriously, I have no problem to unlock my elite, and I only play in WvW… 250 HP is not so much for something “elite”…
Its a lot better then the 400 originally implemented, but keep in mind those who have alts and have to regrind ranks/hps over and over. That might frustrate some people, for one or two toons, yea no biggie, for more alts well different story.
Agreed… I completed my elite in 3 or 4 days and I play 1 or 2 hours a day… now that it is 250 you can get it pretty fast… I got some HP in the new maps and farmed most in Eotm.
Am I the only one that thinks that Mordremoth is not dead? I do not think he really died in the final chapter…
Agreed that for sPvP trapper runes are OP, as I never used it this nerf willl not affect my build, but I know a lot of rangers that use it in WvW, they might not be happy right now.
It’s amusing. The other month people were up in arms because Mike O’Brien insinuated that very few people played the WvW game mode exclusively. Now when you ask where all the WvW players are, you’ll be told “they’re in PvE.” Guess he was right afterall.

Endure Pain, stability stance, choose one of the many skills the warrior have to get closer to the target, and then burst, you can also try a stun or immobilze before burst… pretty sure it might work well against many DH.
But I do not main warrior so just guessing.

My first toon was Guard too, and it is defintely my main, every new stuff I do it with him first, sometimes I play a lot other classes, I had my Necro moment, but the Guard will always be the favorite.
I like warrior too, did not tested the berzerker during beta and I see so few around after launch, looks like it is not good at all.
Cry more… traps can be avoided… there are a lot of stuff in this game people call OP because cant learn how to counter it… easy moders.
I see DD elementalits that can get hight burst damage and very strong defense, hard to kill and can hit you hard with a lot of CC too… people cried a lot about it it got some nerfs but is still pretty strong for those that know how to play it…
Stealth is still the most powerfull defense in the game, a good thief or mesmer can run away from a fight at any time, hard to kill and have a lot of burst too… again people cry and nerfs come, but they are still powerfull at the right hands.
For me DH is far less OP then those examples were, we are not throwing traps on your heads, we need to be tactical to put the traps on the right place and time, if you do not know how to avoid it you need to learn to play.

Yesterday after 30 minutes searching for a fight in the new borderland (and I am t1) I could find a Chronomancer, started hitting him from far with the long bow and he just ran towards me… what could I do? Just put all traps… do you think he dodged or teleported away or something? No he just stayed in the same place trying to throw something in me and I did not even used Maw… he died pretty fast… am I op because he is stupid and suicidal?
More 30 minutes and I found a Ranger, that one was smart enough to not fall on my traps and he killed me, I still have to balance my build, I can tell you DH is pretty powerfull but far from OP.
Oh great, now hordes of glider pilots can jump over fort walls and cap without having to break in…
Needs a lot of work before this could be done, if ever.
Agreed. WvW is not ready for it, it could be cool but the way WvW is now it will not work.
I like large and small maps, wouldn’t it be nice to have a REALLY small one that encouraged a different kind of pvp? I think it would be nice to have both but nice rant.
It would be great to have small maps for GvG, but it should be a sPvP mode for larger teams and not WvW.
15 hours and not even a comment from devs… I can understand if the issue is more complicated than we think… but not tellings us anything is lack of respect.
I am feeling like a Mesmer or Thief, so many people crying about DH…
I really enjoyed DH in BWE. Compared to other classes I tried out, it instantly “clicked” for me. Between the last BWE and launch I eve had guildies telling me that DH was trash, that druid was THE one to play. They’re pretty quiet now on the Druid front, while my DH is just wandering the jungle every day happy as a clam.
Same here! Everyone else just talked trash about the DH but i saw some great potential. Even with this great potential i decided to pick a rev (Rytlock Brimstone fanboy) :P
I definitely going to test Revenant after I complete all DH traits, the Herald seems very powerfull support.. but right now I am having so much fun with DH, I am not in a hurry, and yes Rytlock rocks.

I have not played the new WvW map yet, I am farming heroes points first in EOTM and the new PvE maps (I truly hate Verdant Brink and all those glide and jump and fall like kitten stuff, but I gave it a try…), I just entered the new borderland twice to take a look and yes I had the feeling the map was just too large.
So I see a lot of people asking to bring alpine borderland back, but what if we could have all maps, desert, alpine and ebg at the same time? I really do not think we need 4 wvw maps, we do not need a specific borderland for each server we could just have the 3 different maps with no citadel at all, just spawn camps for each server like in EBG or EOTM… if we think we need 4 maps bring a version of EOTM to the regular WvW with ppt and keep the current one for the queues and farm zergs.

Maybe compared to some other elites the DH is not the greatest one, but it is not bad really, as I said I did not test it for real in WvW or PvP because I wanted to see the new maps and wanted to farm heroes point to buy the traits, so I spent a lof time in the new map and story and many hours farming coins in Eotm.
In Eotm I had some of those rare 1v1 moments, both were level 80, a thief that was not a real challenge, he was the sucidal kind… I could pull him with spear of justice into my traps and he did not really tried to scape just pressed 2 like boss trying to kill me… so pretty noobie… and a Reaper that was a good player, it was a fierce fight and I could get him downed but was interrupted by a group that arrived and killed me.
The other fights were zerg x zerg… and in Eotm the zergs are pretty messy… so I could put some traps and see many low levels dying… a lot of are damage, you need to be cautions to put the traps in the right moment and not be caught by the infinite immobilizes people throw on you… traps demands better positioning during combat.
During the Beta I was not really excited with the DH, but now in my main with the right gear and build I am loving it, the longbow surprised me and is doing a very good damage and I am not even full zerk as I am a 90% of time in WvW I use a mix of Soldier and Zerk.
Truth is that I have played a loI of PvE this weekend and Eotm (that is very different from regular wvw maps) so I could not really test it roaming or on serious zerg fight in WvW, but so far I am very happy with it.
It is really a bad a idea… pretty bad for balance, because if a server can hold SM long enough to upgrade all tiers you can be sure they are crushing the other servers, no one can keep SM so long without greater numbers, and numbers are what really break balance in WvW.
So what would I expect… mechanisms to help lower population servers to have a chance, and not to give the fat servers even more advantages.
Hope some one from anet reads this… instead of putting this fountain on SM put it on spawn camps for outnumbered servers, something like when you are outnumbered you gain the fountain but with a very high cool down, like 30 minutes.
I tried condition hunter this weekend, not that bad really. My thoughts:
Traits:
Give us a 25% speed trait, there are a lot of useless traits on the DH spec, and we need the extra speed to kite when needed. Heavy Light procs once in 20 attacks… I prefer traits and I do not need to count on luck,
Piercing Light, I think it was better with the bleed addition… maybe it is me but I do not feel the daze is helping much…
Traps:
I do not think they are so bad, but they need some improvements spcially Dragon’s Maw… for a elite skill it is still weak, I would love to see a immobilize effect added to it.
Longbow:
Looks better, Hunters Ward final effect could be faster to easy to evade… or at least raise the initial damage.
Virtues:
Spear needs a faster animation, and it would be really cool to pull the enemy as someone suggested.
Wings are cool, could be stun breaker to be perfect.
Shield… I still have to get used to it… I think ti should show up closer to the character, sometimes if I am in short distance against ranged attack it feels the shield does not work because it appears to far away and behind the enemy.

Sometimes I think the Dragon Hunter concept fits the warrior better than the Guardian, I just cant get the trap idea for a profession that is more close to magic than physical. But… I played a lot DH during this beta, and I it was fun. Some ideas:
Traps: they are nice but I definitely would prefer then to work not as traps but as wards (maybe similar to Necros staff marks). It would fit better the Guardian concept. Make then ground targeted and similar to marks.
Virtues: I liked, would not change much.
Longbow: skill 4 could last more and must be fixed to shot in any direction like Saiyan said on previous post. The other skills are fine, though I would prefer the skill 3 to burn instead of blind.

This is quite possibly the most broken elite in the game. With 3 guardians you can have perma fury from just this, and with 5 guardians perma quickness. It’s like a mini time warp that’s up for every single fight, so the duration barely matters.
That said, I could not be happier with it on my bar and I hope it doesn’t get nerfed in 2 days.
Yesterday roaming with my Guardian in WvW I went to get a supply camp and another Guardian was there too… we destroyed the mobs in seconds. Then a third Guardian appeared and we ran together for a while… we destroyed everything that came across us.
I am quite sure they will nerf this skill, probably they will change the cooldown.
Seriously… SoR is dead… BG probably on vaction waiting for season 2… the same happened before season 1, I dont think it is a “plan” to get more guilds, just that they like to pretend they are weaker.
I feel a real pity that SoR died. BG and SoR had such a long history together through the tiers. Our rivalry was well, unrivalled. We loved to hate each other.

I do not know if it was mentioned before but what if the PPT was not based on points per time but points per objective conquered?
So a server would only make points when it gets a tower, a camp, or a keep and of course each one would have a diffetent value as today. This way coverage would be a lesser problem as they would make points only once instead of each 10 minutes. It would sitll be an issue, because night cappers would conquer all and upgrade it making it harder to get it back… but I think it would be much less damaging to PPT than it is today.
And you might ask me, so defending would give you nothing on PPT? Exactly! You defend to prevent the other server to make points. You could still have the defending event, gain karma, wxp etc. etc… but to make points you have to conquer and to prevent the other server from making points you have to defend, this way I think defending might get more important and it would scater the zergs a little bit, at least I hope it would….
Yeah… pet skills could be great if they worked… most have a ridiculous cast time… and many of then the pet dont cast while moving… useless in wvw.

I will say for myself, playing sPvP for sure helped me improving my skills and my build, a lot will come here and say that a good build for sPvP may not be good on WvW, thats true but you can make a lot of tests there, not the same stuff but very similar.
And if you have time and patience try all classes, play then all, learn how each one works… it will help you a lot, sPvP helps you with that as you dont need to level a classes to have all skills and traits.
Dude I hope my ranger could do that with rapid fire… you were probably hit by legendary guards.
This is true, you get more karma, badges and WxP in EOTM and I agree it does not make sense, it should be the other way around.
I like EOTM a lot, but it really should not be more rewarding then regular wvw maps.

Serious now, I think it is a good try and at least we will have something shaking WvW. Today it is completely boring.
There should be a motivation for people to join lower servers, maybe if you transfer to a lower server you receive additional tokens… idk.
I agree we do not need a complicated storyline for WvW, it is just a massive PvP map, it is cool if you have some story to explain the existance of the mists and why we fight other “worlds”… but we just want to fight, if we want to be part of something bigger and have a role in Tyria universe we go PvE.
But… it is true we lack motivation… losing or winning in WvW means nothing. It would be nice to have something to fight for rather only server pride alone.
And I also gree that guilds should have more importance on WvW, give us something to fight for as guild, a guild ranking, anything…
I think WvW dev team is the worst among ANET teams in communicating with players and address real problems in game play. SPvP team got lot of heat but they actually do show up on forum to answer player concerns. WvW team just don’t talk at all and don’t even try to address the “elephant in the room” balance problems in WvW.
Seriously, just scrap WvW already and make some tweaks to EoTM.
What is the point of EotM by itself?
1. If I want to fight for my server, WvW is far better.
2. If I want loot, PvE is far better.
3. If I want serious PvP where my skill matters, tPvP is far better.Fine, EotM appeals to certain playstyles. But I really think most of the people there right now are there only because of unfixed problems with real WvW. The solution is to fix them, not destroy what could be a great playstyle for no reason.
Except that nobody ever cared about point 1 because servers are a lame way of allegiance.
Seriously… if I was fighting for my guild (and getting rewarded guild halls, capes, banners, influence, merits and much more for it), I would be there… but I’m not fighting for my guild because they don’t reward guilds AT ALL.

I have all classes at 80, mostly I play my necro and guardian, and I really cant see where the Guardian needs a nerf… they are a popular class for zergs for sure but I dont see that they outnumber all other classes the way you guys are saying. Maybe because I roam much more than follow zergs.
But for Warrior, yes I see a lot of warriors now both on zergs and roaming. I rarely play my warrior, I like it and it is extremely easy to play it but I just prefer the other classes.
They will nerf the healing signet in the near future, it will probably less their numbers.
Warriors now remember the Elementalist era, where there were so many elementalists in WvW I could just see lightning ride all the time.
If you dont like EOTM just stick to regular WvW, but dont come here to cry out that people are not playing it anymore, that EOTM is killing WvW and something must be done, if you like WvW the way it is just play it with those that think like you… asking for ANET to remove EOTM is just selfish and stupid.
If the majority of people are enjoying EOTM it is their choice, you can not change that.

It is not too much, it is now on same level as most world bosses on PVE, now we can “farm” dragonite without having to go out of WvW.
Of course it may promote karma trains even more, but it is fair that we can get as much dragonite as PvErs get today.
WvW isn’t just for your guild, not sure why people keep thinking it is.
Use voice comms it is really easy to roam together without needing a tag.
No sense, this game should be based on Guilds… they should have much more features and usefull tools to help us play organized.
I understand WvW is for the server to play together but why cant guilds have at least the basic tools as being able to see where guildmates are on the map for example.
The downed state is a good idea, something new they wanted to implemente… the problem is that for mass pvp it just sucks a lot… it is quite boring when you down people just to see they alive a second later because someone he aoed died… this is one of the greated issue on WvW…
I know it might be complicated to turn it off on WvW only, but at least give the rallied people some kind of temporary limitation, maybe 30 seconds of half speed, half attack damage, 20% less maximum HP and toughtness… I don know, just give us something.
For arrowcarts I see no problem, as you can put then in places the AOE cant get you.
But I agree that cannons and oils are almost useless as it is impossible to keep using then while people AOE you to death. I do not know if mastering it with WxP gives some protection as ram master does, and it should not be like that. You should not have to buy extra protection to use those sieges…. they needed to have a natural protection to the user, but still be destructible, at least could give people sometime to use it.
As far as it is today even a small group can kick you out of a cannon or oil.
As any new content on the begining it will be crowded and full of players all around, maybe even chaotic hope we will not have the same lag issues we hava in WvW as this map have overlow… the “normal” WvW will be affected hard because people will want play on the new map and it will be more empty than usal, but after a month maybe it will get some players back, those that will not like EOTM.
I am very excited to play on EOTM, I could not test it but as far as I could see and understand it will be a good map for roamers and smaller groups… just hope so. I liked the idea of joining servers it will help balance the numbers on the map.
