Sounds like your personality disposition is a bit too self-critical, basically the opposite end of the spectrum of most of the try-hard pvp-forum-warriors. As one of the npc’s says “trust your instincts”.
This advice isn’t for you, b/c you are probably already doing it, but usually, if I am queuing by myself, if a losing event occurs, rather than blaming others, I try to ask myself if there was something else I could have done. Did the enemy pull off a res that allowed them to comeback and turn the fight? Did I have access to poison that could have stopped it. Is someone else rotating in a manner that the rest of the team is not expecting, and how can I adjust to that?

Ask yourself: “If you weren’t where you were, what would have happened?” Did you rotate into a fight you were already winning, letting the enemy free cap? Was there a chance that you could have spotted the person backcapping? (often this still isn’t a mistake, b/c if most of the enemy is dead, you can easily retake that point, just trying to find examples).
If without hard analytics, you find yourself winning more often then you are losing (and you are not being carried by the people you are grouping/premade with), then that’s probably a good enough indication that you are doing the correct things.

Something I had thought of that could potentially work as a 4v4 capture the flag mode in a 5v5 format is:
- Each team has a Banner Warrior that is sitting in the enemy “base” that will drop a banner for their ally when they reach them.
- The ally then needs to take the banner back to their base and plant it to score points.
- To keep track of points, we can say that the scoring team can kill the enemies flag/banner dropper (In this scenario, fights will have to be to downed state, not defeat, to not corrupt the score). The next round would then resume once both banner distributors are back to the enemy base positions.

While in the shower I was thinking of something that might allow flanking strike => larcenous strike work, while balancing it to address dev concerns.
If flanking strike misses, have it convert to an ability that lasts for about half a second (or whatever the after cast on flanking strike is) named “follow through”, or something, that does nothing except burn another initiative, and perhaps have a rotation animation, and follow through will convert to larcenous strike. If “follow through” is not activated it will convert back to flanking strike. If flanking strike connects it will convert to larcenous strike as normal.
What this will address:
- Allow players to prepare a larcenous strike before engaging at the expense of another initiative.
- While in combat, allows for counter play by the opponent avoiding flanking strike to not allow larcenous strike to occur without additional cost and tells.
- Allows players the defensive option of flanking strike chaining as it already has an after cast, so the half second delay on “follow-through” shouldn’t impact it too much.
What do people think about this? Just a random out of the shower idea.

Anet isn’t going to change it just because you made this thread.
Just deal with it and play the game. Its fine to make a suggestion once in a while but anet does what anet wants.
Past history has shown this to not be the case. With enough “constructive feedback” (aka. outrage), anet has shown to exclude elements from the balance preview; examples include the intended introduction of runes of perplexity, and mesmers deceptive evasion not creating (and destroying) a clone after reaching the maximum of three. Both these changes, had strong opposition, and one would like to hope, strong reasoning from the community, and Anet had reversed their stance.
If the thief community can provide substantial reasons why this change will remove smart play etc. Anet may exclude the flanking/larcenous strike change.

What do you guys think of this change…. I usually prep a larcenous strike/burn the flanking strike before engaging the enemy usually with an infiltrator’s to “guarantee” larcenous will hit. With this change, this will no longer be an option. I’m not a personal fan of this change however I don’t claim expertise with thief (only just got champion shadow recently). Is this a good change? - New modes ( can be simple objectives, CTF, kill the lord, etc. )
- An unrated queue for these modes, so that they can still prioritize balance for conquest e-sports.
- A queue filter to queue into specific modes or maps. If you are more selective the queue will take longer. When matching players, it will be able to randomly select from the pool of acceptable modes/map, however it should never place a player into a mode or map they chose to filter out.This queue filter would be really important/useful, as with this anet can get actual diagnostics for how many people are actually okay with skyhammer/ vehemently opposed to it, what modes are popular etc.
They could also convert soloq into this unrated queue, as it doesn’t really serve a useful purpose as there are SO many factors that come into play in soloq, that as an indicator of personal skill, the leaderboards are pretty much worthless.

It is a fairly cheezy build/composition. A lot of people may say it’s not the best team, l2p etc. but in truth it is a very rewarding comp, for little effort. With the boons the turrets give out, not to mention all the projectile/knockback spam it becomes pretty difficult to focus out any of the engis, particularly when they are using the melandru runes/ soldiers, so the fact they don’t have condi cleanse or stun breakers is a non issue. Put in a single bunker support guard into the mix and you’ve got a recipe for —- more cheese.
Things to counter this comp include using damage cheese (staff/frost bow ele, well zerker nec), or hard hitting mobile comps. You usually will not want to initialize the match into the mid fight where they will be strongest (elite crate aoe stun all being ready for everyone).

since reviving scales with your healing power and you have a trait that makes it 10% faster too. (and a ton of damage reduction while reviving)

Healing power has no effect. Either someone needs to do more testing, or the wiki needs to be updated.
In regards to balance, coordinate with you team to have someone applying cleave and/or poison while someone else gets a stomp off.
If you think a guardian is able to rez fast god help you when you finally find a ranger dedicated to rezzing…. they put guardians to shame…

Recently there have been a lot of changes to reflect mechanics, however I feel like Anet is approaching the problem incorrectly. Currently, several boss attacks are built as a large amount of projectiles over an area, (generating aoe circles for the player to avoid), and this volume of projectiles when reflected back at its source deals a ridiculously large amount of damage. Recently, such boss mechanics are being converted to be not reflectable, to fix issues where the boss would kill themselves too quickly/easily. This causes inconsistencies and confusion in what attacks can or cannot be reflected, destroyed, mitigated or what have you.
I wanted to bring up a discussion on what would be a better solution to the issue of reflects, as the way things are going, reflects are either overwhelmingly over powered, or rendered useless. I don’t particularly know what would be optimal; perhaps a maximum number of reflects that can be done? Reduce the damage bosses receive from reflected attacks? I was curious to see what ideas the gw2 community might have regarding this balance issue.

It’s ironic that we used to have an ankward map-of-the-week system at the beginning, then our (justified) requests led to a random rotation.
If we hadn’t asked for such a basic feature, we could have simply skipped the Skyhammer weeks and enjoyed the maps where you can actually play PvP during the other ones.Heh, who would have thought?
Didn’t really play during the map of the week system very much. But it’d be pretty cool to see if we could get an option to queue for a map of the day. Anet could probably get logistics on map balance with such an option.

Regarding the topic, I feel S should be reserved for cases where the class is clearly overpowered. A lot of the outliers have been toned down this patch, and my personal stand point would be adjusted like so:

Something kind of interesting has happened with this meta. Rather than primarily playing for two points, there has been a shift in strategy towards allowing a point to be lost and grabbing the other point. Therefore classes with higher mobility to rotate are performing better. In this regards thief, warrior and ele are doing really well. Team fights are still fairly important, and so guardians necros and engis still have a roll, as they can apply a lot of aoe pressure (necros /engis) or relief(guardian). Rangers and Mesmers are in a bit of a weird spot, as a lot of their pressure is usually directed at a single target. Rangers generally have more mobility though, while mesmers have a few niche uses on some maps.

This is pretty game-breaking imo, and should be addressed faster, considering this thread was created 5 months before the linked video. I wonder if it’s fixed by now.(vid is 1 month old)
While this is a bug that ought to be fixed, it’s not exactly “game-breaking”, as it’s just UI that is communicating information incorrectly. In a team fight, the red team will be able to communicate to each other that blue does in face have control of the point ( can be seen visually on the point ). Still, sooner it is fixed, the better.

If you’re getting 4v5 at mid, why isn’t someone from your team capping their home?
Trust me – if I had to choose between a person who sits home all the time and a person who caps close and leaves it thinking the point will defend itself, I would choose the former over the latter any day.
Essentially, although this is harder to coordinate in soloq, but if all five of the enemy is committed to mid, a mobile person on your team ( see thief ) should go decap their far while you rotate to mid. The minimap even allows you to track player movements; you see someone peeling? start breaking off to head back home.

I’d say it’s not “Most sigils”, as from what I understand, the sigils you CAN use are available because normally they are used for Legendary Making. AFAIK, 100% of the superior runes have the forging issue.

With the removal of transmutation, another barrier has been placed around the supply of upgrade components, causing prices to skyrocket. There are multiple factors that contribute to this:
- Upgrade Extractors being prohibitively expensive at 250 gems (marginally cheaper if you buy in bulk).
- Removal of Transmutation; You cannot redeem upgrades that are placed on non salvageable items such as those purchased with karma or badges.
- Superior Level Upgrades cannot be mystic forged to cycle low worth runes for higher level ones.
There may be other factors, but these three are fairly glaring issues that could be addressed.

To me this is an oversight on Anet’s part with the removal of the transmutation stones. It’d be pretty ridiculous to expect to have to buy the upgrade extractors to remove the rune. Fun times for spikes in melandru rune prices..

I haven’t noticed any improvements on the thieves/warriors yet. And Necro’s got too much of a buff? Which ones lol.
Warriors and thieves have always had an advantage in sPvP. But have you played the new map? Necros ALL DAY. Wells are wiping entire teams without skill necessary. They just need to be balanced on this new map. That and their new heal ability, buddy told me he’s nearly invincible in groups now. Then again, that was WvW
Losing to wells in a team death match setting is probably a l2p issue.
Speaking as a well necro, this is true; Considering that you don’t need to stay in a conveniently drawn circle for well placement. Regardless I had fun reaping the spoils on —- less experienced players.

Pretty much covers my main gripes about balance. Example: They KNOW that healing signet is too strong as is, and they are ALREADY planning to bring it down, so why WAIT? Why bundle it with a bunch of other tweaks that could potentially lead to other imbalances in the next patch, while leaving the current patch to suffer the current imbalances, as opposed to bringing something in line for the current patch and introducing new features (stuff like evade frames on ele thing) etc. when they are ready to be introduced, and adjusted as need be.
The “small” shaving over large time lapses is one of the largest gripes I have with the balance in this game. It’s like —- every other balance patch actually does something. The first one, is too weak, the second changes the game into some other annoying meta.

Forum search function needs a QOL improvement look into.
On the actual topic, skyhammer is not an enjoyable map. Why? Because in contrast to all the other maps, it requires players to have to take into account fall damage death, which, for the most part, requires specialized builds. If this was the ONLY additional mechanic, it might not be so bad, but throw in the overly large, and not dodgeable skyhammer…. well you have a thoroughly unenjoyable map. Especially considering zone control is so important, forcing the player to get out of the skyhammer targetted area, or be punished with around 10k dmg is pretty ridic.
