I like the idea of ‘boon hate’ only if its implemented in a fashion similar to the Necromancer focus 5 ability, where the base damage is low, but increases sharply based upon the number of boons.
It doesn’t look like it’ll be an active thing but rather a trait to be specced into. Granted, this is all speculation.

A lot of talk has been going on about boon hate on the guardian and elementalist forums. A major point people have brought up is that people may start NOT wanting you to give them boons. Obviously I feel this is blowing things slightly out of proportion having not seen the implementation for it yet, however I do believe that raw damage increase seems like an unclassy wave of mitigating bunker builds.

After all they have something similar already, where if they get blocked, they gain might… if I remember correctly. I don’t really play a warrior.
General Community thoughts? If thieves/other classes start having bonuses against your number of boons, would you prefer to not get boons from your allies?

Think you might have exaggerated it by describing it as a “mechanic”, which makes it seems as though it is something that players of any class will be able to perform to counter boons. From the clip, it looks like it’ll be a trait that thieves can spec into that will allow them to amplify their damage based on the number of boons on their target. Not something I’m a particular fan of, but I feel like that if this trait is one that forces a thief into a difficult position, between selecting one that helps them have extremely high burst damage vs. getting something that is good only situationally, then I’d find it acceptable… though annoying..

Superior Rune of Hydromancy is intermittently not triggering. Using on my Necromancer, so the weapon swapping time should be within the constraints of the internal cool down.

Kinda jaded on this subject since it feels like something that should just be, but for some warped reason it is not, but these superior sigils/runes really need to be not soulbound/tossable into the forge. Other parts of the game function as such, why is this specifically made to be this way. Extremely frustrating.

Wow that’s just horrible lol, IMO the best scythe is The Crossing. I love it because it has that creepy green lantern that glows right above you shoulder, it just fits the Necro.
Yeah I really want the crossing too, but apparently it’s super expensive now.

I finished a few path 4 runs some time ago with random classes and what can I say now – there’s no fun. It’s so easy and the title “Dungeon Master” is so easy to obtain now. Simin healing skill is really, really nerfed now and I can say this path is no longer the hardest one.
I’m broken seeing something like this… what about people who have tried to done it before a patch? For us “Dungeon Masters” from before the patch it’s a big joke… or at least that’s what I think myself.
This. I finished this path personally right after the Jan. 28th Patch. Now after the february patch, the difficulty is no longer present at all. Ran this with 4 first timers, completed it probably within 20 minutes; there was no sense of adrenaline/exaltation upon completion. Still good memories with the group I completed it personally when finally getting the Dungeon Master title, but after completing it post February patch, it appears that my fears were verified after the announcement that her healing would be nerfed. It was a nice gesture by arena net i suppose…. but at the same time I feel like they took away something good by conceding to player demand in this manner.
Also…. I really wish they took my suggestion for a linearly increasing heal, if they planned to nerf the heal rate, in order to reward good-play/ punish bad-play. Oh well, it is what it is.

Being a coder I can say that this is entirely possible, b/c in general random number generators are generally speaking based off a “seed” which is usually a tone stamp. If two rngs have the same seed, they will iterate through the same sequence of random numbers.

just did this on my fifth toon ( other four were done before Jan 28 ). Thought I’d voice my displeasure to the change of the mobs after the Mouth of Zhaitan. Turning the mobs from Silver Bordered to white was FAR too sever an adjustment to the difficulty of this dungeon. It used to give a sense of urgency/desperation, and I understand with the Jan. 28th patch, some adjustments needed to be made to the difficulty due to the change to the waypoints, but —- well i’m certain it’s been stated before but this is hand holding to the extreme.

Wait, there’re people complaining about this POST-patch? I’m not normally one to pull an “elitist” attitude…. but this encounter is really easily doable. Call target on assassins, and regular mobs die to aoe. There’s really no reason that this part of the dungeon should not be doable..
Edit: Also I’ve observed a lot of people talking about DPS focus for this… Hardly. If anything, I think people with “crowd control” are better suited for this event. For example, when I ran my engineer here, I was able to Immobilize the Assassin so hard he couldn’t move an inch. I just don’t understand why this is a topic.

Hey Robert, I hope this doesn’t get buried, however since you are planning to nerf the healing on Simin, may I suggest you take the approach of giving her a linear (or… exponential) increase to her healing rate, if it is not already implemented as such. In other words start it off slow/non-existant and gradually increasing her heal rate? This could be implemented with or without a cap. I suggest this because it’d allow you to emphasize the spark mechanic as opposed to raw dps, by “rewarding” players who can put the sparks in quickly by having her not be able to restore health, while keeping the difficulty there for people who have not yet learned the mechanic, as opposed to a flat heal decrease, which is hard to balance correctly between what is considered challenging or easy.

Focus is on immobilize and applying stacks of vuln (25 stacks easy). All while keeping out of the enemies reach through perma swift/vigor. ( I think the tooltip in the builder might be outdated particularly for sitting duck ).
Thought it’d be something I’d play with.

Although there is a little bit less focus, I feel that I suffered when I got too many conditions ( 4+ ) in WvW, and found that with this, you can address any situation you are entrapped in. As the primary focus is mostly about singling out a target, but not taking them down personally, I think that this allows you to essentially be “At the ready”, while maintaining relatively decent capabilities in any situation, when soloing or grouping. ( Soloing and you encounter something you can’t take, net turret/swiftness run the heck out; as for groups, well this is what I consider a group reliant build for taking single targets down. )

Just curious, as it just occurred to me that Kormir is not present in Orr/Arah ( probably due to her being the newest God ), and the fact that their was a mural for abaddon, i assume that Kormir was not a deity a relevance to the Orrians. I was wondering if anyone was able to give me the backstory regarding this? Was mostly curious because in Arah P4 when you are facing various powers of the 6 gods, you only really face against 5, with the exclusion of kormir/abaddon.

One of the easiest way to get it: If you can reach the dark room in EB JP, dodging through the fire arrow statue traps gets you 3 per dodge.

@DaddyBojangles: As you are running a warrior, for the simin fight in particular, the most beneficial thing for you to do is to maximize damage output ( warrior being one of the few classes i don’t have an 80 for, so i can’t say if you should focus personally, or if you can increase group output ).
(The rest is more general advice:)
Also, if you are “skilled” at maneuvering in the game, and end up as one of the designated spark fetchers, speed increases are a really helpful thing to consider in a build.
Insights from my run of this dungeon:
I was running a guardian initially when our group did it, and we got really close multiple times, and my personal policy was to buff the groups damage output, and when simin stealths, I would use my leaps/swiftness to get the sparks in as fast as possible.
I eventually switched to the mesmer (for timewarp) pictured in the far left of above post, and I had to switch up my approach to the dungeon. Initially I was continuing to run the sparks, however, i soon realized I wasn’t fit for the role (mesmer’s don’t really have too many options aside from blink and curtain for speed), so I switched out with someone else in the party. I found mesmer’s to be really good in the role for tear thrower because they can continue to contribute damage output using mantra of pain while always being ready to throw a tear.
Also a small disclaimer: While 4 warriors and a mesmer may or may not be considered the optimal setup for this dungeon, we did this dungeon with a Warrior, a Ranger, an Engineer, an elementalist/warrior(for simin), Guardian/Mesmer(for simin). With the original setup we definitely got very close numerous times, with simin beginning to freak stealth around 10%-30%. So there is definitely flexible room for party composition.

Did Lupicus first time since the patch as well. Completed it without wiping. We had some people die here and there, oddly on phase 3 actually. Phase two somehow ended up being a cinch. I almost feel as though they modified the mechanics. Either that or Phase 3 was just harder giving him two grubs while phase 2 was regular difficulty-ish? Some options for full-death revival would be nice, considering that in certain other encounters, particularly those with lava, if you die it is possible to not be able to revive them at all, but that is a different topic. In terms of this particular fight, I do think it probably is more fulfilling since the patch.

If you down, you might die. I personally don’t mind this change to wp TOO much, as it just means that people need to adjust their strategies when fighting lupi, but not everyone has responses that can address Lupi as well as the other classes.
For you “And So Forth”, perhaps you didn’t mean to do this, but you left out necros who only really have deathshroud, which is not always able to be brought back up quickly enough to take Lupi’s attacks. Engineers were also left out, but they have better ways of getting out. (Leaps, reflect, Invuln, etc.)
I personally run a guardian when I do Arah, and being able to cover all the attacks I can’t dodge with aegis is extremely easier than trying to do Lupi with a necro.

So this idea just occurred to me so I haven’t thought it out fully yet ( or checked if there was a duplicate topic… I probably should have, in retrospect, but I’ve already finished typing this post. ), but I was thinking that a possible way to make crafted goods more desirable ( currently, except for some end game stuff, crafted goods sell for less than what it takes to make them ) would be to add branches, or specializations that one can go into, and are committed to. I know that a big premise of guildwars 2 is that everything is openly accessible, but I don’t think that this would cripple those ideals too much, and could potentially make crafting more desirable an investment, aside from gaining the achievements/titles.

In an ideal world, this nerf should not touch the Necromancer’s AOE as it has not been shown to be overpowered at all whatsover, as compared to Staff-Ele. I don’t agree that seige is overpowered but that’s a different discussion.

Pretty good point. I always do the upgrade for the guard if I can/doesn’t inconvenience people getting supply for an assault on tower/keep, however the only time I’ve had a problem against guards was when I was still leveling my main and in WvW ( probably below lvl 40 ).

Not sure if this is a bug, but recently I’ve noticed the pet hasn’t been attacking immediately after pet swapping, with about a 1 sec delay, and since I’m specced into the 2secs of quickness after swapping pets… this seems to be a bit of a dps problem.

A common question when purchasing stuff from TP is that items are not being sent to them in the mail, due to their old mail items getting in the way. Now I don’t know what it is for others, however, on my account, I am stuck at 6/10 mail entries, and can’t get more until I delete mail entries to be below 6 entries. Just thought that this should be simple to fix, and would reduce the amount of time having to answer said questions/topics.
