Same for me. So much wasted potential thanks to some devs throwing us together with the PVE crowd. Still glad that it exists since pvp is in a horrible state right now.

Are “PVE players” really that much of a problem for you guys? If they are bad they get to Bronze. If you constantly face them you should be bad aswell…

Before you buy those expensive sigills, use the older version of the build. It’s not worth it. Just use Soldier gear as armor and rest Berserker. Having Generosity sigill on staff helps against the condi spam meta. GS instead of sword/Wh as weapon works too.

Seems really broken to me. Probably only a GM or a hotfix can help you out. The only thing I can think of is clearing your cache, but this has very likely nothing to do with your error.

There should be just solo q , or soloq and duo q , not the 2 in the same que.
The rating shoud be from solo play.
But some only duo que.
Anyway, anet will understand this , they just need time.

It’s widely used by Wannabe-Roamers. I can’t even blame them since balance is in such a poor state. Not every class using these stats is viable, but these Condi-Chronos can be a pain. The only good thing about these builds is that you don’t need to fight them since they can’t sustain their damage from range.

Honestly I don’t even understand why anyone would run such a boring build in a non competitive environment, but that’s just my opinion…

S6 arrived. Still no real answer. Still no opportunity to compete as a team. At least they “like” the idea of automated tournaments. Stupid me thought they have at least something in development after the s5-poll. I’m a pure solo/duoQ player and these things do not really affect my gameplay, but it’s just sad to see a 5v5 gamemode not being used for competitive teamplay.

Idk in which direction anet wants to go with pvp. Leave it like this until s69? We have leaderboards. That’s a good thing, but the hype is already dying out really fast, which is scary.

Trying to get Platinum again. Should be easier for me now since decay does not increase volatility anymore. This little feature screwed me really hard after holidays while others abused it…

The meta does not excite me at all. Probably trying out some funnier builds instead of the ultra-predictable-not-even-that-good standard setups.

Placements went very smooth in s5. The best two matches I had in s5 were placements. I started queuing on the first weekend into season, not on day one. So I dodged those ultra tryhards probably.

DuoQ still gives you advantage right now, because you have one kittened player less in your team. I don’t know if this is a good thing. I like queuing with my buddy, but a serious ladder system should incentivise soloQ. At least only allow duoQ with players that are at maximum one division apart.

On second thought a kittenload of crazy good games just came out (zelda,horizon,nier…). Will be a tough season

Since Druid got some nice GS buffs and they finally fixed Hilt Bash I tried out a few builds using Staff/GS.

This is what I came up(nothing too new):

It performed pretty well in off-season-ranked(ofc there will be more valid results a few weeks into s6). Mobility is great and tiger hits like a truck. As second pet I use Smokescale for obvious reasons. The knockdown also hits more reliable now.

Don’t forget that you don’t need to actually land Maul to get the 50% damage bonus on your pet.

You can also swap to Marauder and NM for MM traitline if you face a tanky comp. Power Warrior would probably a better option…

Be careful in messy midfights when using the glassy tiger. Better play safe and start off with Smokescale and clean up with tiger later.

Probably not a top tier build but probably good enough for ranked play and fun as hell. Your opinions?

Idk why they even bothered buffing this abomination without reworking anything. It’s literally a pile of kitten. Especially since immob is a joke right now because powercreep. They are slowly buffing the survival skills since 2015, but we won’t see them become meta unless they do something about the garbage troll heal.

I like the soundeffects the new ones got. Especially the pew-pew-sounds from Hope and Divinity are satisfying. The Shortbow does not drive me crazy which is nice and the occasional quaggan noises (wheeeeuu) from the shield make me chuckle.

I wish they would do more mechanical changes to skills instead of just changing damage numbers and healing power scaling. Look at some of the lesser used weapons for example. They are not necessary bad dps weapons, but have zero utility, synergy or have a hard time actually hitting your enemy.

Also traps should reveal while doing condition damage. Not that permastealth thief in WvW is really dangerous, but it’s getting out of hand lately. WvW balance is a joke anyways.

Just take a break until next season, there are great games coming out/released recently. Personally I’m also a bit salty about the infrequent balance patches and their communication concerning tournaments. But then I look at the “big” mobas everyone seems to enjoy and compare to gw2 and I can’t bring myself like them. Everything is so slow and/or the replay value is non existent since there is not much else to do except opening rng boxes. Just my opinion, everyone has different tastes.

This more offensive variant is not bad, but the HOT powercreep hit the Troll Unguent really hard. You are pretty suspectable against burst damage even with the additional dodge. I’m curious if they will do something about it but since the shout heal is a no brainer especially in WvW.

It’s a complicated answer as you said druid, wvw and duels in the same sentence.

Roaming, druids are great
1v1, druids are great
Dueling? Many druids will happily claim to be duelers because they can stall a 1v1 forever or force the enemy to disengage or maybe even kill a noob super fast. That’s not what I would call dueling. This is the type of druid (player in general) who gets wrekt by a dueler in wvw so hard that they come crying on forums so&so is op or druids need buffs not nerfs.

So yeah sure you can duel in wvw on druid but I suspect what you actually want is a 1v1 druid to roam with. I don’t like promoting this build mostly because the person who promoted it hardest on youtube is lolworthy, but its a solid put together build.

Wait for the balance patch before you buy those 50g sigills. It should come in the next few weeks. You will also have a lot of stalemates. Especially against some warriors, but that’s probably the case with all druid builds…

Here is a different approach. A troll hybrid build that does not look that great on paper, but as I played quite some time using this, it turned out actually decent. Double knockback/stealth with LB and double staff 3 thanks to quick draw are godsend utilities in duels. Also landing ancient seeds will be far more easier. Having passive 600+ bleeding on your enemy will drive them mad as they try to figure out how they die. Don’t forget that yor pet will also cause bleeds. There are many viable food options but I like the might stacking food since it boosts my damage quite a lot.

Only problem will be reflect engineers, but they can’t kill you either. Swap LB for sword/wh and they will die soon.

Not gonna lie, this build needs some setup, but it’s really great for dueling if you learn how to use quick draw.

Honestly I doubt we will get a new proleague. Probably a poorly timed decision. Pvp got more hype since ever.

The ignorance in this forum blows my mind. Having a proleague will never affect your precious gameplay. There won’t be less patches because they spent all their resources on pricepools and organization. Thats not how budgets in such a big company work.

Of course gw2 is not Overwatch and I’m thankful that gw2 offers more aside from structured pvp. Ironically gw2 with it’s current ladder system( it’s not perfect right now) , it’s acessability and the engaging combat the pvp scene could be much more successful, even if it’s not that fun to watch.

But locking important builds behind HOT and the poor marketing (people think this game is dead ) we will never have a healthy population. At least improve your marketing if you don’t use yor budget on proleagues. Why not add a PvP-account-upgrade so you can unlock all current and upcoming specialisations for pvp only? Getting a healthier population would also help sustaining new pvp modes. And please don’t ever do these cringy taxi ads again…

I’d rather we see WvW skills for WvW, because while Anet balances for sPvP, which is 5v5, with most engagements as 3v3 or less, and PvE is limited to a max of 10, WvW has a max of whatever the map cap is which is currently around 80.

Also what you don’t see for WvW is modifying skills and skill effects to reduce lag, one of the issues WvW has had, like population balance, FROM THE BEGINNING OF GW2.

It seems like the only things that the devs are active about in WvW is tweaking scoring numbers, tweaking linked servers, tweaking locked servers, and limiting the use of tonics.

Balance in WvW is in a really akward place right now. Everything feels half-done and inconsistent.
It seems like a no-brainer to me to include balance changes in WvW and guild halls, but it’s probably against their philosophy. Someone might die against the Veteran Warg with their pvp skills.

I see so many great suggestions here and on reddit, but they are still working on things they polled months ago. Take your time, scoring and rewards are not an easy topic, but for the love of god realize that there are other smaller tasks you can do in between …

Remember the fancy chart they made when s1 launched and how they were all hyping the kitten out of the upcoming year? Sure pvp had massive problems at that time, but introducing seasons were a huge step in the right direction. The pvp community grew so much. People actually care. Just look how the gw2 subreddit changed in 2016.

And now anet suddenly stops communicating and shows all their esl teams the middle finger?

If there won’t be any tournaments anymore just say it! Everyone will understand since there are valid arguments against these events, even if it would be a stupid decision in my opinion.

  • as already mentioned, decay system should be changed. What’s the point of playing right off the start of the season. If it stays like this, I’ll just start playing three weeks before season ends and I don’t need to bother with decay.
  • increased MMR gain/loss after decay makes no sense, but this one will be fixed anyway.
  • maybe remove decay entirely if you got a certain amount of matches. The more you play, the more accurate is your rating, so you don’t need decay.
  • nerf cheesy passive invuln like endure pain/elixir s
  • reward the loosing team for a really close game (450+ points) – but wait, this will be exploited in NA…so no
  • leave duoQ as it is, but add a rule that you can only play together if you are at maximum one division apart.
  • add a guild league(team queue) with a dedicated leaderboard.
  • frequent balance patches and less oversights (e.g. Druid GS 5 range, signet of the wild unblockable….)
  • maybe placement matches only available at start of the season. If you don’t play any you get placed one/two divisions below your previous division – decay would make sense with this rule.
  • individual ratings in one team should not be that far apart. This one would increase queue time of course.

Burn guard get’s rekt in higher tiers, only variant I see is Menders, which is also not that great.

Mobility is okay, but you need a port target. There are better classes for decapping points.

It’s easy to play. You are right, but nearly all classes are pretty forgiving since HOT.

Biggest threat is a druid. Swap to Bristleback – go ranged – avoid healtrap = DH dead.

DH is fine right now, please stop, it’s not even that good

Sorry to ruin the mood, but I want to say something about the dailies. Logging in and doing the same thing over and over nearly ruined the game for me. If you play gw2 for the dailies only, play mobile game instead. I just can’t stand this mentality to force yourself login and doing the same thing over and over, especially if you don’t have a certain goal in mind. The game will get boring quickly. I was at this point and I stopped playing for 1,5 years.

Thankfully a friend brought me back, and learned how to pvp. We played a lot of games and eventually became decent.
Before HoT came out I set myself the goal to craft all HOT legendaries(even if I did not own a single legendary before). I farmed quite a lot, learned how to invest and also made a lot of precursors in the MF when it was profitable. Also crafting and selling old legendaries brought me a lot of gold(who buys these?). Now I’m waiting for number 7 to come out and join my collection.

What I want to say is that this game could become so much better if you have healthy goals. If you aim for ascended gear, think about how you want to use it.Fractals? WvW? Or even raids?

Please don’t be the sort of player who(as an example) logs in, kills the warg in WvW, flips a camp, runs away from enemies and log out. Don’t be that guy. If this sounds like you, don’t play gw2, don’t game at all. You should spend your free time for better things

That argument that dire/TB give you best damage is bs of course, but who cares about spikes if you can simply outsustain your enemy. The damage is still decent though.

You can think about vanns whatever you want and his build is also pretty good, but he obviously knows how to play his class. In the end vanns wins(it’s still a roaming montage), but the amount of headbutts/axe f1 this mesmer tanks with dire gear is crazy. It’s just painful to watch because the mesmer isn’t even good and he could have easily won if the warrior would have lost his focus.

We could argue that if you loose against dire it’s your own fault, which is true in the majority of the cases. But look at this vid. It’s just terrible. I would have a hard time defending this playstyle if I watch this vid closely.

I’m not against long fights, but against carry builds. There are a lot of things that could be done balance wise. Converting dire/tb gear coud be a step in the right direction. It’s just my opinion. Never imagined there would be that much discussion about such a minor topic, but I like it.

Btw. you will be able to convert ascended pvp gear. That was unintentional.

The whole discussion looks only about theoretical numbers and ignores many other factors that determine whether something is op or not …

How strong a build is, depends mostly on traits and skills and situations, not on stats. Sure, certain stats can make a good build stronger, but it is never the deciding factor. If you put dire/tb gear on a strong condi build , the outcome might be op. But if you slap it on a bad condi build – the build will remain bad. Same goes for something like zerk or marauder gear. I mean, it’s not like there aren’t any op power builds …
That’s why balance should be based on traits and skills, not on stats. Stat changes are very unlikely to happen anyways, so why even waste time on proposals like this, instead of suggesting changes to traits and skills, that might be more realistic?

Well profession balance for WvW has been requested a lot. We are still waiting. This one is also high on my list.

They could tie a lot more condi skills to precision, so that dire/tb gear would loose it’s viability or just alter damage numbers. Reworking dire/tb gear would probably be easier.

There are a lot of things that need to be discussed, but
biggest problem with WvW right now is that the devs don’t play WvW. (It seems so at least).

NA can’t catch a break lol. I feel sorry for the actually good players(yes they might exist) in NA that their scene is known as a joke.

Regarding your question: Mechanically gold/plat players should be okay. But they are arrogant. They think they are gods and try to get a three cap as fast as possible. If the midfight is won they immediately rush far and get wiped or loose other caps. I have nothing against this strategy, but what’s the point of going far with multiple ppl. I don’t care if you die as long as you die alone. Decapping a point and occupying 2+ enemies is not bad at all. If you are smart and don’t get slaughtered by a thief you can even disengage. I wish Plat/Gold players would finally learn and stop throwing easy games because of poor decisions…

And that’s accurately the reason why this whole thread misses the spot. There’s no use ranting against dire, or zergs or stunlocks or whatever.

The wet dream is being able to melt any opponent in a matter of seconds while having 25k+ life and 3k+ armor. Oh, sure, no prefix allow you to run such stats alongside 3000+ power and 80% crit + 250% ferocity. That’s so bad…

Because dire and TB are such a big issue : they make fights last. That’s so troublesome. That’s so tiresome. That’s so tedious to have to fight for, maybe more than 100 seconds in a game mode that implies players fighting players, dodging, blocking, using invulns (to prevent condis from being applied).

I think you missed my point. Maybe you misread since my English is a bit “meh”.

If you read the previous posts you might figure that dire/TB gear is a nobrainer for condi classes and has no real downsides.

Condi has been regarded as too forgiving since launch. Literally. Problem being that you can do sufficient (or in the current meta, stoopid) damage while remaining nigh unkillable. If you really want to balance this, just making it so that you would need precision to do good damage is not enough. Make it on par with Power damage; if you build max glass, you can melt things in seconds. But then you need condi damage, precision and ferocity. Condi’s should be able to crit, and the ferocity would decide how much they would crit. You would obviously need to balance it so that Power builds wouldn’t start to do crazy condi crits, but that’s easily done by deciding base damage through the condi damage stat.
People might complain that one needs a fourth stat, condition duration. But, you don’t. Adjust all base durations so that you can either burst or apply continuous pressure with a condi skill. Right now, bursty condi’s get to do both thanks to excessive duration. And that’s not even talking about the bonus benefit that you apply to conditions like weakness and cripple, etc. Those conditions are arguably just as important on power builds.

But no, the discussion will boil down to people saying Soldier’s does more damage then Dire. Anet does not have enough faith in their playerbase to make real adjustments and remove player carry mechanics once and for all.

Yeah they could also revamp condis in general, but I don’t think this happens anytime soon. Adding secondary stats like condi-precision/ferocity would need some thought since the damage can be nullified by removal skills.

Regarding my suggestion by using Precision, they could also just convert the gear into carrion or rabid.

As you might know Dire/Trailblazer stats are pretty broken right now in WvW. There are other stats aswell, but if you make a tankier build for example, you have to trade off offensive stats. You might outsustain a 1v1, but you can’t kill anything in return(maybe after 5+ minutes).

That’s simply not the case when you use dire/TB stats. Condi runes and food also profit from the free defensive stats.

Just look at the stats of this Mesmer setup( don’t mind the build, it’s an abomination)

As a Power Mesmer this would be a wet dream running around with 3k armor and 25k life while doing loads of damage. How can these stats still exist after 4 years?

My point would be that Toughness should be traded against Precision. Now we have the vitality equivalent to Rabid gear.

Will condi gear still be good? Yes it will, but not that broken since you have at least sacrifice some defenses.

Come on Anet. If you really want to improve WvW you have to do some gear balancing. This has been requested for years. This does not even need much development effort, since you did the same thing with Magic Find gear back in 2013.

Please no. Mixing gear and playing crazy scientist by trying out various setups are the only good things in WvW right now.

On the other hand(thanks to the leather prices) changing stats is expensive. I stopped bothering and play with my unoptimized gear for a while now. Food is also annoying.

Besides balance changes they should introduce stat-changable armor/trinkets and maybe infinite food. These ultimate gear parts could be part of a new reward system, where WvW players could slowly work towards.
You could still mix stats and change them on demand.

But yeah…as it looks right now, only raid players will be able to get something like that( if it ever releases), because you need so much stat-variety in pve…

It’s a gamble. You also loose more points. Makes no sense to me. If I recall correctly a dev said they will remove this mechanic.
