Ventrilo isn’t a good representation of what’s going on in the guild, numbers-wise. There might be 20 or 30 people in game, but no one on Ventrilo if none of those people are doing WvWvW or a dungeon (ie: content that needs Ventrilo). We aren’t a guild where everyone sits on Ventrilo 24×7, regardless of what they’re doing in game (or maybe not in game at all). Our forum gets used far more than Ventrilo for general socialising outside of doing “game specific” things. If you want to see a busy Ventrilo, meanwhile, look at our site on Friday night, US time, when a lot of the guild comes together to do WvWvW.

We’ve re-opened recruiting.

This is precisely why I created a guild, pre game, JUST for GW2, with the concept being that it was a social construct that exists almost independently of the game. Thus, the game and its guild mechanics doesn’t define us as a group — we define ourselves.

Look, im all for upping difficulty on things that are easy as, but this is story mode. For a game thats ment to be casual friendly and fun for all its gone too far up the chain, its going to be awhile before im gong to be able to get my guild to go in there again.

I like a challenge, but it just became a frustrating experience.

Well not only were the rewards nerfed, but the difficulty was amped up. Spent 12 silver in repairs on today’s run. Pre-change CM, I never had a single piece of armour break… ever!

That’s just nuts.

There are probably less people outside CM as it’s been made ridiculously hard and, at the same time, the rewards are less. So you spend an eternity in there, getting smashed, epic repair bills… for nothing. Who would wait around, lining up for that nonsense?

I agree 110% with the OP.

CM needed to be updated, absolutely. No question.

But now it’s been made ridiculously, stupidly, hard.

I don’t see a bunch of people, having hit 40, giving this a go and getting through it. Especially not without massive repair bills and a huge time investment.

This is now way beyond a challenge; this has now entered the realm of “not fun”.

And isn’t the whole ANet ethos built around fun?

Still bugged. Come on ANet, surely this is an easy thing to fix? A lot of folk can’t finish Metrica Province without it.

Lower costs, not no cost, is my vote.

Bubbles will probably be the dragon for the Cantha expansion, just like Kralkatorrik will be for the Elona expansion, and Primordus and Jormag will be the Underground/Far North expansions (If they’re not one expansion)

Yeah, the OP is actually a great idea. In some of these bigger situations, I go to start attacking an enemy and it’s already dead because 10 Elementalists are raining fire and brimstone on everything. So, I end up doing far less helping than I could. Makes it seem a bit pointless, sometimes.

Personally, I think it’s a shame to base a decision on numbers, though, as you’d find that (in most guilds) ‘x’ number of people are in one timezone and ‘y’ number of people are in another timezone and ‘z’ number of people are in another… so it’s not like you see the guild’s full size online at any time.

To put it another way, by wanting a guild of 50, you must be expecting to see only 15-20 people online regularly?

Do everything but, I guess, things like Dynamic Events will really help.

Not at present. Look to the bottom left of your character select screen. It’s not going to last forever, but it’s still available, at present, for free.

It’s a hard game. I think other MMOs have really softened some people up. And I say that in the friendliest way possible. My advice is to stick with it… you WILL get better… and in the process you will become a better gamer.

When you log on during your peak time, what EU servers are showing as full or very heavy? They’re the ones to aim for. (So, in the case of a full server, you’d have to wait until an off-peak time when it shows as less than full, to transfer to it). Easy

Yeah, I think they just don’t understand the system fully yet. Otherwise, why do it?

I’ve noticed a lot of people selling for that extra copper, but not seeming to realise this is costing them money. I expect more people will learn how the TP works over time.

One of the questions we get asked the most often is, “Are you recruiting?”

The answer to this question changes from ‘yes’ to ‘no’ to ‘maybe’ on a semi-regular basis. Primarily, this is because we seek to maintain a manageable membership of ‘around 100’ members and, having launched with 94 members, we were basically full from the start and not open to recruits.

That said, if we look appealing to you, or you’ve seen us operating in-game, these are the top three attributes we look for in potential members. Are you these things?

— You’re 21+ years of age. (Although you might be a lot older and that would be fine; we have numerous ‘older gamers’ in the guild.)

— You’re the kind of person that other people really like being around, ie: you’re pleasant, mature, considerate, friendly, smart and can hold a great conversation without dropping the f-bomb even once.

— You have a desire to drop past your guild forum on a regular basis and not only ‘talk shop’ (such as organising a dungeon crawl), but start actual conversations about other topics and generally mix with your guildmates in a forum environment. Lurkers need not apply!

Why do we look for these attributes? Because they describe us. This is the kind of people we are and, if recruiting, we want more people like us.
