It won’t be spammed then!” You can still headshot and still interrupt theres just no damage this existed Pre HoT and was used the same way, so what part is the part that is considered OP? The damage or the interrupt? Since we already got tuned on the damage in this patch included no air/fire.

It’s the damage. It wasn’t used as a damage source pre-HOT so idk why you’re saying it was used “the same way.” PI triggers on autoattack rupts kitten , were thieves really doing that pre-HOT? I just tested it yesterday with a friend, I was playing condi rev, he was hitting 1.7k-2.1k per PI proc. Skills that disable and deal heavy damage aren’t so great for the game, which is why Skull Grinder got a huge damage nerf and Smash Brawler was also nerfed (to prevent spamming of primal bursts). The difference there being that Skull Grinder was never actually spammable just low-CD; Headshot is spammable.
Yeah it’s annoying to be interrupted if a thief cleverly predicts what I’m doing and interrupts important skills then that’s my bad, and that was reasonable pre-HOT. PI introduced damage but didn’t increase the thief’s risk; sit at range and spam the skill and what are revs and necros going to do about? Slowly die.
Also why are you bringing up sigils? That’s relevant to thief’s damage but is irrelevant to this thread or PI. You’re a great thief dude, why not advocate for where PI’s damage could be moved to instead of just defending the status quo?
I replied to most of the posts not yours only, there was a guy who said “put PI on 5 sec ICD!” As if that’s the solution to get interrupted, you’ll still get interrupted. And what I meant by HS was used the same way, you used HS as much pre HoT as well and I’m sure without PI you would still use it to interrupt skill as much against classes like necro/rev.
Sigils were discussed in the thread, you bring up a irrelevant discussion to the thread not the other way around. Anyway keep going at it lads I’m fine with how thief is, removing PI and adding it to other sources I’m fine with but it won’t happen so here we are!

Although I will point out that the thief team in that match was winning all the way up to the last few seconds, and only lost after making some questionable choices that you yourself called them on in your commentary.
Sorry but this thief is one of the top thieves in EU having played in ESL/Pro Leauge and they lost 0-3 if thief is so OP as you say then he would have easily won, and if you say otherwise if even a top5 thief can’t carry a game considering how OP the class is we are in a kitten sad state

While OP is definitely salty there is some merit to the complaint. At least when talking about d/p. Thieves easily are the highest impact class in conquest to the point of being effectively mandatory at higher levels.
Generally speaking the only time a team with a d/p thief will lose to a team that doesn’t have a d /p thief, is if the rest of the thief’s team is so bad that they can’t win fights that they outnumber in. If the teams skill level is even remotely equal the team with the d/p will win everytime.
In all seriousness, if you don’t understand a class it will seem OP. Make one and see how OP it actually is.
That’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Obviously if he doesn’t play the class he doesn’t have the experience to play it well so obviously he won’t do well with it.

How many matches do you play? I think you win less points and lose more points the more games you play. (I’ve only played 104 matches total this season and win/lose about 14 points per match)
This season really seems to discourage playing more than the bare minimum number of games, imo.

And that’s not how it should be? From what i understand my reaction as “Well, yeah, this is how rating a Duo Queue should work as it is a form of handicap on the lower rated player” apparently wasn’t the intended reaction.
It should be like that, otherwise any highrated player can make any duo partner tank down to low rating and then duoQ and have low rating and stomp lowbies and get easy points. So it should always be when you duo to take the highest rating and queue as that

MVP awards suck. Most players don’t even know when they’re being carried because their skill level is so low. I saw people raging at Toker last season for pushing far and winning 1v3s because “stop pushing far” etc mentality.

More players, but less willingness to get a team together it seems atm for a 5v5. We can do ESL 5v5, but signups will likely be low. Also we still have two EU running 2v2 and 1v1 tourneys so technically there are more eu
Problem is actually having to make an account on ESL for all players, fill in information → signup and need to have guaranteed 8 teams to get rewards. Battlefy for players/teams are 10 times easier and therefor a bigger chance to get teams

Well i am done with my placements (solo), ended up in gold (waaaayyy lower than last season). The fun part, every match is just stupidly one sided atm. I ended up on team with the same guy (turned out he was legend last season and placed silver this season O.o, also played solo) like 5 matches in a row and matches went like 500-150ish. Sitting at 80+% win rate after placements (can’t do much about DCs/afkers/4v1 morons etc.) and wondering what i am doing here. I have yet to see a close match. I thought MM and placement were supposed to prevent such scenarios.
What other said is true, as solo you are really playing a lottery game. Still. 4.5 years later.

Well, try to achieve this by solo queuing. A single person can’t simple carry whole team. Duo can make already difference especially when you queue only with ppl like Misha.
My 1st 13matches I played solo only and my score was 3:10. Then I started to play with my duo partner only and suddenly my score of the next 17 matches is 15:2.
So basically, if I want to care about the placement in leaderboard I have no other option but duo queueing. Also you see how stupid all this ranking system is, it all depends on your team performance rather your personal performance. So what does my skill rating says? It has nothing to do with my personal skill at all, it shows the average performance of my teams in the games I played.
I solo queued on my alt last season and went 10-0 in placements and ended up 2k rating, after that i went to like 2050~ and started fooling around with random builds. I have nothing to prove, someone asked for the game history and i posted it. I will not solo queue as long as duo exists

I still prefer EA on d/d partially so a pulm on a steal cnd doesn’t force me to instantly backstab or be revealed. Getting to wait out a dodge or two when I stealth and am going to backstab is handy a good deal of the time.
It’s a preference thing and in the end it’s not all that significant when we are talking a bit of extra survivability vs a small bit of extra damage (Highest is like 2-3k every 20 seconds).
Wrong, it’s a massive difference in spike damage/damage output and EA with new SoA+improv made EA less desirable in every single build. Besides you forget that you can procc PI from Basi too, as well as stolen abilities like guardian. Include improv rng to 2x basi that’s still plenty of PI’s. EA just makes you tanky and that’s not the role thief needs, as i said if you die to condi with SoA+improv vs mesmer you need a huge l2p

They don’t, though. There were so many situations in the game where he could have easily been taken down. Others like the mesmer lagging just gave him problems he had no control over. He outright mentioned its weaknesses during the stream. Which D/P could have had utilized. The fact he was able to land so many CnD’s throughout the match, and that he went relatively ignored despite pumping out some pretty serious numbers is a pretty big testament to this. You look at the way all the enemies fought and it pretty much came down to just outright not utilizing their kits properly to deal with him.
I’m not being critical of Sind here – he did very well playing in general because of his proficiency at the profession outside of the realm of D/D. His rotation game is good enough where I don’t think a few struggling fights would have lost them the game, anyways. I’m just stating that just because he won a game with it while not being a pro at the kit doesn’t really suggest anything about the set’s current viability in general based on how the enemies played.
Actually a condi mesmer is no threat to me as a thief unless i play bad, doesn’t matter what weaponset I play, however to kill him 1v1? No obviously that doesn’t work.

D/D should probably run without PI in most cases for EA, instead, which makes the matchup even better, since the interrupt potential is pretty low and CnD deals pretty substantial damage as well, and as you said, there are further plenty of ways to deal with such a mesmer.
There is no purpose for EA when you run improv+signet if you die by condi you played terrible especially now with the new SoA, EA won’t help you beat the mes but PI might, any extra burst damage to pressure mes otherwise he will outsustain you
