Helseth is saying how he would optimal want to play against a thief comp of course and thats natural since he knows the weakness, however executing that is different than knowing the weakness.

It’s natural that they have ideas on how to stop thief otherwise all teams would play thief if you don’t know how to deal with it, right?

But what I more or less meant was the team that got placed second who already beat a thief comp should have enough understanding how to counter it yes? Yet they got beaten by a mix team, that should give you the understanding that it just isn’t do this and do that

Just to clarify some things kdaddy

1. The team we obliterated was a full ESL pro leauge player team.
2. Helseth said in the future that he would want to play the thief setup not in the past, and since there’s nothing coming up right now how do you know they are not preparing for it?
3. We beat vM in the finals with thief, a team who never played together. vM beat Abjured’s thief comp at worlds. And that was a weaker vM compared to the ToL vM since Frostball was back into the roster who is miles ahead of kerv.
4. Just because you say do this and that, applying it in a game is completely different. It’s very easy to say what things should be done and then actually do it, then enemy team can also adapt and change up stuff. You think way too one dimensional mate, mesmer allows you to do so much with portals and thief combined

It was 41 / 64 Teams Registered in EU tho. Big reason why there was so many teams in past was to get the llama which wasn’t obtainable like it is now for easy tickets:)

I use omnomberry ghost/seaweed or some other random food if i have it, but mostly those two in duels, I haven’t really put in so much effort in the food itself, maintenance oil for sure tho. The vitality one with fero of ur vit.

And fat disgrace, it’s not only AA’s as i said if you predict someone going to cast something u want to stow, so it’s just a habbit for me – it doesn’t hurt spamming it for me, it keeps momentum for me as well – APM sort of.

habbit against thieves who spam #4 so i dont autoattack. Also so i dont get stuck in animation so i can headshot, example is if i start autoattack chain and he starts casting something short the chain needs to be completed before i can headshot

Also what the major issue is our +1 capabilities have decreased a lot with HoT compared to pre HoT. The fact many classes has got stealth and we have no means to reveal them as revenants have, they can even pre-reveal which is so powerful. Classes like druids/engis even if we manage to drop them low (druids has signet of stone then astral stealth) meanwhile engi can just sneakgyro away. The longer time we spend on +1ing the more the whole map suffers as well.

And as you said many classes has got more tanky and more mobility, lets say pre HoT a outnumber 15seconds was still “ok” obviously not optimal, now if you don’t finish a +1 in 5-10 seconds AT MAX you already wasted a +1/rotation upon that, and since so many classes (guards, warriors) with the abundance of blocks/endure pain x2 buys so much time for the others to rotate. We become so much weaker cus of it, since we cant fight a 2v2

I’ll say it once again, stealth stacking in SPVP Competitive in the highest level has no issues whatsoever, you guys talk about scenarios that don’t exist here, and nerfing it because you guys have problems with it in other game modes is not the direction that thief needs in SPVP to become viable. Nor does it help reverting any other weaponset nerfs or traitlines (acro S/D for example)..

That is our point. That’s why we “demand our own profession to be nerfed”. While thief suffered as a whole in June last year the only set that has been indirectly buffed was D/P. The current stealth cap is at 18s if I’m not mistaken (didn’t try it for a while) – and it shouldn’t be too hard to equip SR and/or smokescreen for the extra stealth that would be needed for pvp.

ETA: I’m actually in favour of nerfing the duration of pistol 5. Only real downside would be no safe stomps.

ETA²: My idea wouldn’t work as the thief would have enough initative left to stealth right afterwards.
Thinking some more about it.

The easier it is to track a thief, the easier it is to rotate doesn’t matter what kind of mobility you have when they know where you are or when you are coming. hence stealth stacking is a must in spvp. Or big compensations to make thief some god 1v1er/sustain in smaller fights.

If you feel its mostly in wvw or whatever then i hope for your sake anet splits the stealthing mechanics so the nerfs applies in wvw and not in spvp

^agreed, i also dislike the fact PI proccs on most things, so silly. I would love them to change it to only interrupting something.

That still means the war has to give up something for it regardless. And that is quite a lot just for reveal.

On my mark is a skill which is already under used so couldn’t care at all lol. They kitten themselves by using it over other utils.

Also, idk if the meta is different or not in EU but man there were barely any condition or bunker sustain builds being played in those videos o.O Running ID in most cases in NA is suicide in small-scale or 1v1.

I beat most bunker sustain builds, the mes is running illusion mirror image etc for full sustain, i also beat scrappers/druids/war too. The only condi build i dueled that i wont beat (no recording) is mes with scepter/staff if they are good enough, sure i cannot kill it but i can also survive for as long as i want cus of improv just rotating the cds (i dont need EA) for it.

nah these are the only duels i have, and i mean i sat that night and dueled for probably 3-4 hours and i got 20mins of duels so i didn’t record much sadly

Ah my bad missunderstanding, the times i rely on stealth is if i want a big reset, sometimes against DH/Revs i need to do long restealths (thats where BP comes in very handy) esp if a DH RF against me i need full reset more or less:)

I can point out certain things I already said to myself in the head in the duels

Many times you can see me shadowshot to the mes without even damaging him (u can see him pop distortion on occasions in the clip, if u want ill point it out)
Sometimes i shadowshot against him in stealth to make him jump, sometimes i just headshot with basi to stun him to trigger distortion/blink

The guards i predict the pull (at least most of the normal dh’s the random ones makes no sense sometimes)

Theres a lot more into that other than “just interrupting and black powder” bait cds, trigger passives, count CD, count passive CD… I dont even know where to begin at when you say its all about interrupts and black powder. Most important thing is to read your opponents thats the biggest difference. And fame? I couldn’t care less about it

Invo dies quick i have some where i kill in 20~ but retri is slow esp cus they run food like -10%dmg etc tougness stones. And u need to avoid most #3 from retri so keep distance soak lot of endurance means u need to kite a lot sadly. Easier against invo cus u can interrupt

No because the two other traits are more or less useless for majority of the power builds if not all of them, unless you for some weird reason would prefer 3 initiative on wep swap over a 1sec daze then so be it. So unless they revamp the GM traits people will still run SoH, it’s insanely powerful for interrupts.

Do a initial spike in mid to ease the pressure on your teammates in mid so the guy 1v1 the DH makes the DH use CDS, then you +1 if you cant kill the DH then you are obviously doing something wrong.

Thank you both of you, I got back streaming again after 3 months break and I’ll start work next week and usually I am exhausted after it and never got the energy to stream but I really want to make it work and I do hope I will.

I played engi/mes/rev in Pro Leauge but I obviously am not even remotely close to my thief on those and usually when I stream I try to stick to thief just to show what we are capable of.

Crucial stuff to know about is the most recently applied condition or conditions will be removed first this is key to cleanse stuff like lets say you headshot a retri rev to procc taunt you can cleanse it instant with signet, if you are too slow however and they add weakness thats the condi that you will remove instead of taunt (just an example).

Improvisation in DA will help a lot also over executioner against mesmer/heavy condi teams and just to have the ability to RNG reset shadowstep/signet/heal. Also since mesmer steal now gives resistance don’t panic cleanse stuff. These are just stuff that you get into your blood eventually, observations and all of it comes with experience.

It’s kinda hard to just give general tips cus there can be like million things, it’s easier to answer questions like you asked!

I got legend in all 3 seasons, getting flipping blowout matches all the time. It doesn’t matter whether OP is good, matchmaking is badly designed. You either farm enemy team at spawn or watch your team getting farmed.

So far for me personally this season and season 1 has had the best matches for me, in terms of close scores and balanced matchups. Im super happy with as of yet

Air/Fire for thief has always been superior, only time force would ever scale better is if you consistently sit on the target

Every Pro Leauge player got an email regarding 2016-03-15 “GW2 Pro League Season 2 Intro?” with the new rules attached and there is no rule against playing against the former team. What Sam writes/links is the rules from Season1 where the rules applied too.

Rom and Denshee were both not allowed to play against Orng. So the mid season transfer wasn’t allowed. It’s stated in the ESL Rules. But it doesn’t matter, it’s TCG man. ESL will officially change the rules, mid season, for them.

Proleague isn’t watchable anymore. 1 Game is out, no team is playing serious anymore. Everyone just play to net get kicked out, to get the season 2 money.

The viewer dropped from 9k at the start, to 1,5k for every monday and the meta is not changing at all. Mesmer ruled Season 1, and if you could stack classes, it would totally blow Season 2 too.

So yeah. It’s over.

Stop making a fool of yourself and actually read the rules that was sent out for S2 and not S1. There is nothing stating what you are writing here

Honestly, I commend you for that. I can understand the situation you are in and I think it adds the overall bad air that’s surrounds EU proleague at the moment, which may have had its influence on the poor state the other teams were in.

I just think if he at least played towards a more synergetic build, even just changing his rune to something more in line with his trait/weapon choices, you guys would have actually had a shot to take a game if not the series off of TCG (or so I feel). Which doesn’t only speak for you but also for the poor state TCG was in. And that is where I feel it was a pretty poor effort from Farrorz, not only disrespecting his team and everything he as a proleague player should stand for.

I’m sorry but even if it came down to the slightest possibility to beat TCG neither me, farror or tage wishes that for our former teammates, we did not depart on bad terms whatsoever so it’s not anything about disrespecting, we gain absolute nothing on beating TCG. (This is of course just hypothethically in case we would have even WON if we played it serious which none can say for certain)

We can’t reach 5th since we lost against GnR so even if we get to the same score it’s impossible. And we get the money regardless if we get into the relegation qualifier.
