I like the no-AoE mob rule. It means that copper is the last to fall due to the horde of players sitting there doing 1-1-1-1-1-1.
That means you can generally do amber or indigo and be in time to tag copper and extract another part on the cheap.

It’s not like keys are expensive. First thing i did was throw a stack of 100 keys to my home instance parked alt, the one that does the daily node mining. Now he’s got one more node per round, and i’ve got 100 days to remember to send him more keys before he runs out…
So, you can collect the chest for 100 days then….
All of my nodes are forever, no assembly required.
And when no ones in the silverwastes any more?
Then it’ll take slightly more effort to refresh the stock? Every SW event rewards crests. It’s dead easy to solo a keep and to follow with the rubble event, and you get 30 crests out of it i believe? Or i’ll stop bothering, who knows. It’s not like it’s a gem store item, we got that for free, as an additional gizmo.
edit: of course rubble event follows defense, not capture. Point still stands, but duh!

You are completely ridiculous and have a very, very poor understanding of the Lore.
You know you’re in the Twilight Zone when Eowin of Rohan appears to correct your GW2 lore.

1. No monthly fee.
2. The ‘Manifesto’. Yeah, you may laugh a bit now. That said, even after selling out and breaking many tenets, this game is still way ahead of the pack in breaking some conventions: trinity, gathering node competition, gear grind… Trying out Archeage reminded me of how dreadful some of that stuff is.
3. WvWvW. It hasn’t been touched for too long, as is the fate of too many pvp game modes (i’m looking at you Lotro Ettenmoors), but it’s still up there as one of the best experiences for large-ish scale faction-based pvp.
4. The GW1 connection. Exploring the remains of Ascalon as a Charr was great.

Struggling to see the why of it though… There must have been something, i can’t imagine that popped on their priority list for no reason. Any ideas?
All i can think of is a wvw situation where you’d pop the clone on a Moa Bird at the top of a cliff before jumping down to trick pursuers to jump down too, and use the exchange to go back up. But even then that’s a bit niche and far fetched.

I found the fight fairly easy to work out. My only problem with it was having to do the same thing 3 times to kill it. Not to mention the slow speed of the fire being tossed in to the area. The fight was easy mechanics fun, but I think twice would have been enough.
I did it in two passes. Bring more DPS. :p

The time/reward is certainly going to be an issue looking forward. Not a problem now since most people will be after the carapace chest piece, but once this is out of the way, chest farming will resume the second the breach is over.

If there’s one thing this games missing it’s racism.
+1
Now I know how the Charr feel.

On ranger, i used Signet of the Wild and RaO for stability, and looked around to light up the bubbled fires when possible (Braham’s doing i think?), can’t remember for sure but they seemed to protect from the knockdowns.

Care to name those servers where rangers are dominating the scene? I may need to transfer away from EU T2.
Well we started to call Abaddons mouth, rangers mouth. They seemed to have a lot of them during the x-mass holiday. Dont know if they always had many ranger or just we started to notice this last month.
Seen from Piken, i can’t say i ever heard panicked voices on Teamspeak shouting “OMG run, they have RANGERS!”.

I just thought the hostile ones were:
- Nightmare courtiers
and

I forget exactly which path it is (it might very well be “Where life goes, so too should you”), but you should try to do the path that has Malyck in it. He’s pretty clearly going to be relevant going forward..

Easy.
Make EoTM replace EB for a week. For a week, EotM is a single instance point-scoring and server based. EB takes its place as the irrelevant multiserver overflow.
There. Fixed.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Imho, the main problem with EotM is that it’s utterly irrelevant to the wvw matchup. So it achieved a side-goal: some place to do sort of wvw stuff in while in queue. But it failed in regards to a major goal: provide some variety the wvw experience.
Swap EB with EotM for a week, with EB becoming the irrelevant multiserver overflow and EotM turned into the point-scoring server-based map, and i’m sure it’d become an enjoyable experience.

Note also that due to the NPE Trait revamp, even fresh 80s are very likely to be random traited with the few that got unlocked somehow while leveling, with potentially not even a single GM trait available. So you can’t even hint that young Mesmer to trait reflect on focus for example…

If the insane gold cost of a legendary didn’t deter you and you don’t care about wvw, just grind a bit more gold, convert it to gems, and move to a higher tier wvw server. In T2 EU at least, Stonemist is flipping all the time.

I still think the Mike O’Brien Gag Policy is a mistake. But, it’s moments like this that makes me think twice.
This is exactly why I say it’s in place, and while the silence on these things is infuriating . . . if you’re persistent enough in chasing down where the denials show up the most it’s obvious where they’re working.

You can get the skin item for a few badges at the wvw vendor so no transmutation cost, there’s FX with the blue flame leaving a trail behind you, and if you’ve got incinerator in the other hand, it’ll fit neatly the DIY handyman look.

And Mesmer GS5, and Guardians polluting fire/water fields with light fields, etc. But yes, it’s all about rangers.

Also, applying an AC skin to the weapon is the easiest way to keep track of the Sigil is active or not. If the weapon glows blue, it’s night time, +10% yay. If it stops glowing, time to switch to the alternate weapon with the Sigil of Force instead.

Another reason they did it is to stop boosting. I remember after a week or two players were already rank 80. Teams running around in circles for hours racking up glory for decaps/ caps just trading points all day. That is why they put a set amount for win / loss and you can earn a little extra for being in a “top player” category, but only a set amount. So playing hard in all aspects could net extra points vs getting 5 pts and then doing nothing.
I’m very very inexperienced in that section of the game, but in my first foray back into it after ages, the top of the list of joinable games was full of “RANK FARMING, RED WIN, NO PET, ONLY SWAP MID”. So i don’t think the behaviour has quite gone away.
WTF are you actually talking about? You get a set amount of points for a loss or win. There is no rank point (glory) farming. You get nothing out of swapping points….in the end it’s either win 1500 or lose and get less. If there is an arena that “farms rank” then it will still take them just as long as someone playing a normal match. Same points awarded to everyone on a win or a loss.
As i said, i have no idea how the points work, i just play matches, come what may. If there’s nothing to farm, it’s a bit weird alright. Will take a screenshot tonight if they’re there again i guess.

Real Pros play Bell Choir.

Rifles and pistols wouldn’t add anything new. Nor will ranger rifles/pistols be distinguished enough from excisting weapon skills in the game. All talk about themes aside, I haven’t seen a single, purely mechanical valid reason for adding rifles and pistols to the ranger.
People want it for the looks. It’s stupid.
Look my friend, the Ranger class fits too many archetypes for its own good. Archer, Beastmaster, Oooga-booga-not-too-clever-but-bone-throwing-superstitious-stick-throwers Shaman, etc. Also Hunter.
And what do you need to hunt? A bear, a bow and 25 stacks of might A mustache, a dog and a rifle, that’s what!
Now many classes have access to mustache and rifle, so yes, in theory you could give them a dog to make a perfect Hunter archetype. But frankly, people who like pets already play ranger. In fact, not even all people playing rangers like pets. But i’m being sidetracked. In short, giving dogs to warriors and engies is not going to happen, ever. So they’re stuck with a rifle and a mustache, this is lacking.
The ranger on the other hand has the dog. And the mustache, of course. Giving us a rifle is the only way to properly fulfill the Hunter archetype in a civilised society.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
The biggest con is that we have pro/con threads. The Ranger has to be the class with the most misinformed players, and if you want facts, look no further than the ‘bearbow’ stereotype.
Also, 25% movement speed isn’t mobility. GS IMO is a subpar weapon, so the only mobility we have is sword. I hesitate to call that mobility as I have never seen anyone actually doing the trick, as it requires two precise about faces (or macros). Run any other weapon and your mobility is lightning reflexes…which isn’t meant for mobility.
But honestly, it saddens me a bit to see the beginner stereotype attached to Rangers. Maybe for PvE…but really, is it possible to be bad at PvE? Go to WvW, and you become the target, 100% of the time. Even if you are 1v1, have fun stalemating shatter mesmers or slip up once and get facerolled by a hambow. That’s the Ranger.
how is it complicated?
u tap that face thing button to turn around, sword 2, then turn ur camera, for again sword 2?
on mesmer its face , staff 2, face
r u srs
Whoops, you just lunged right back at your target because you didn’t mash ESC to detarget. Better luck next time…
And if he had his target behind him already, he could have pressed 2 immediately to leap away from it, so he wasted time doing the about face, reducing the value of said ‘mobility’.
Our Sword 2 is a capricious kitten.

For what it’s worth, i love the new system. The old one annoyed me from the day laurels were introduced as they became the single and time-gated path to some items.
The new system removed that, as the laurels now drop just through login AND progress is not reset on failing to log in one day. As for the sytem itself, i never actively hunted APs, but getting 10 through 3 dailies takes me all of 5 minutes thanks to the split across game modes. There’s always some dead easy pve or wvw objectives. Not that the pvp are tough either, but they basically take the time of a match (oh and the class-based win in pvp is not a good idea at all). As for the extra tasks, the thematic chests for each daily are neat as a small incentive to run some bits of content.
I still think the laurel currency is an awful idea and that login rewards are cheesy, but these apart, this revamp is very nice.

This situation has now lasted for many years, and though many facets of GW2 have been updated, some of us are still being left frustrated by the lack of attention to our favourite aspect of the game. I mean, apart from us, everyone got what they wanted most:
- PvEers got more progression (Dry top currency, Silverwastes currency, Wintersday currency)
- PvPers got more PvP (Courtyard)
- WvWers got more strategy (white swords)
- RPers got more lore (Scarlet, Scarlet’s Journal, Scarlet’s bedroom, Ceara)
- JPers got more JP gear (Rune of Snowfall)
But us? Nothing. In three years, nothing. Despite being already restricted to only have free access to our game mode once a year, and afterwards having to rely on the daily activity. This can’t be allowed to go on ANet.
So no offense to those without any groove, but there are no more excuses to delay the introduction of Bell Rankings to separate the wheat from the chaff. You can’t imagine the mental anguish it can cause us Bell Pros to be lumped with rhythmless peasants whose musical massacre completely wreck our perfect melody part.
I know it makes my ears bleed and then i want to cry. But that would not be Constructive™, so i take it upon myself each time to try and help my noobs rhythmycally impaired partners, but for some reason, they’re never receptive:
<joe charrtriani> kitten noob l2p
<Bob the Asura> ?
<joe charrtriani> u ruined the song u muppet
<joe charrtriani> stop failing
<joe charrtriani> u wearing Superior Rune of the Noob or wat?
* Bob the Asura has added you to the Ignore list.
<joe charrtriani> omg y u so bad?
<Llegollahs> i’m sorry, i’m lagging
<joe charrtriani> ya ur brain is lagging
<joe charrtriani> it’s because of noobs like that i never get called for an encore
<Llegollahs> now there…
<joe charrtriani> if yu have no skill play the bass or sumfin
<joe charrtriani> but stop kittening the choir bell
<Llegollahs> right
* Llegollahs has added you to the Ignore list.
Even a decontracted humorous approach doesn’t yield any results:
<joe charrtriani> wuz that supposed to be “The Great Toymaker”?
<joe charrtriani> that sounded more like “Rotlyck is a big noob” lol
* Rotlyck has added you to the Ignore list.
So, what gives? Obviously, pre-made Choirs would be ideal, but i realise that may be asking too much. This means that introducing a Ranked Bell Choir queue is needed ASAP. I want proper competition, not be lumped with/against noobs garage banders that will make the concert fail.
Please?
