You want perma group fury (400 precision) and perma 5 might (150 power) with perma swiftness (+33% run speed) from one Adept trait?
Constant use of the trait comes at the cost of regular pet swaps, preventing you from having a pet swap available on demand (like for SoR condi cleansing, Protect Me without the pet dying, instant Wolf for fear, on-demand quickness). That’s a good compromise from where i stand. I really really like having my pet swap available.
Of course, there’s no downside for rangers that ignore the pet, but then they’re already self-nerfed. That said, i don’t see any particular reason to increase might to 5 stacks. One is not much in terms of stats, but good enough in being one more boon against boon stripping/stealing.

When it comes to zerging, I’m going to want to provide support/utility, but I’ll want to be getting a fair few tags in zerg fights too, but damage isn’t going to be my main want.
Not a Mesmer then.

Go play with heros in gw1. Then come play with rangers pet in gw2.
Cry ;-(
Yeah, a hero-style skill bar for the pet would be such a game changer. Access to all skills with an option to lock some them out… Hate micromanagement? Leave all skills free, let the pet have its fun. Want to micromanage? Lock up everything and activate them with F2-F5. Like the current system? Lock everything but the current F2.

I actually think this trait on 15s cd is way too good.
I wouldn’t mind something “way too good” every now and then personally. The perma-fury came at the cost of a pet swap every 15s, preventing the ranger from keeping a pet swap available on demand (in case Protect Me or SoR needs to pop). The fix seems lazy. It was easier than fixing tonics, and it didn’t require any thought, just a copy/paste of the original skill cd. Even removing the boons, i’d rather have had a trait to get a blast finisher on in-combat pet swap instead if fury is such an issue.
Now, the trait is not bad as it is imho, but as a rather average player, i’ll basically only count on the first blast in each combat. I won’t have a clue afterwards, so i’ll just revert to managing the pet and only the pet for future swaps.

It’s doable, but only do it if you enjoy playing GW1 as it’ll take you time, and you will get bored well before unlocking the petsif the game’s not your thing. It took me a month and a half with a little headstart in points, game experience and a leveled up alt:
http://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/comments/39wd5i/after_action_report_a_month_and_a_halfs_journey/
You misread the HoM rewards though. You’ll unlock the Black Moa at 15 HoM points, the Rainbow Jellyfish at 20, the White Raven at 25 and the Black Widow at 30. So if it’s the Black Widow you’re after, it’ll take you a while (getting 10-12 is really really easy, then points are progressively slower to gain requiring a lot more content or gold).
Also:
good luck , to get the black widow , you would have to get the black widow in the underworld in gw1.
This is incorrect. To get the Black Widow pet in GW1 you need to go in the Underworld, yes. You can then dedicate it in the HoM, which you need for an extra HoM point if you want to max up the Fellowship Monument (provided you also have the Phoenix and the Black Moa to dedicate). But there’s 50 points up for grabs in the HoM and you only need 30 to unlock the Black Widow in GW2. So it’s not required to unlock it in GW1 and you can grab that HoM point elsewhere. That said, it’s an easy point to get. I soloed it with heroes.
And yes, the HoM is currently disabled, so you can’t get the rewards (the achievements and titles still unlock though). But that doesn’t really matter since you wouldn’t unlock the pets before a couple months at least.

There’s still a last hope, Druids in GW1 were spirits, so maybe the spec is a link to that and will give us spirit-related toys. The movement seems gone for good though, and it’s a major pity: underwater swimming with coloured spirit dolphins was one of the game’s prettiest sights ever. I leveled a Sylvari ranger just for that.

Just use the Endless Mystery Cat Tonic. You even get the choice of kitten/cat/big cat for size, as well as various fur options.

Very sad about the ranged traps, will sorely miss it as a wall/door/stairs cleaner in wvw. But the condition stacking changes, trap condi buffs, additional cripple and THE NEW KNOCKDOWN look like they’ll be fun to play with. And the arming delay means that trapper runes should become a guaranteed half second of stealth, so enough to drop target and quickly change direction to play the mind games.
Did i mention KNOCKDOWN?! <3

I’m impressed. I could never get the same ooomph after the big crit→ferocity nerf.

Heal/Support melee staff with a druidic theme, just not on the Druid spec class. This is absolutely hilarious.
Here’s hoping the actual druid spec goes all-in onto spirits in ritualist style then.
Its very good news, it makes our druid more about aoe damage and CC, and perheps buff support. We dont want our druid to be a medic specialization now do we?
Fingers crossed indeed.

It’s even better on my Charr Ranger because i can use the Warband Support elite skill. It summons 2 additional Charr pets so with 3 pets i’m like QUAD DAMAGE!

Spirits are crap no matter what because they are (will be) either stationary in a game that requires lots of movement or they are killed nigh instantly.
Well, we need a Summon Spirits skill basically. I’m insanely underwhelmed by the idea of the Druid, but if it turned out to be a Ritualist secondary, that’d change everything.

this almost got me excited, until they mentioned “this initial test will feature some of the most active WvW players in Guild Wars 2.”
active is subjective, active zergmonkey? most World rank points? most post in WvW forums complaining? most kills?
i’d want people who actively play and know every side of WvW and knows how to find the design flaws.
In all likelihood, it’s a simple automated system that sorts out players according to their time on “WvW maps”. Which means that most of the invites will go to EotM farmers.

Steam Staff, or any other tech-looking staff, because after 3 years of nature-magic-ranger, i can’t get that excited by a spec that is basically nature-magic-ranger-but-with-a-staff.

Yes and can I have a beartrap that literally chops off their feet when they walk into it? plxxxxxxxxxxx!
At first I thought you meant a beartrap. Literally. You lay down a trap and when it gets triggered, a bloodthirsty bear pops out and mauls the victim. Then I read your suggestion again and I was not impressed. Sadface.
I got the same picture too, with an angry bear falling out from the sky onto the victim in cow-finisher style. This needs to happen.

Because we already have dolphins underwater? Spirits are dolphins underwater. The elite one is a whale
After HoT, spirits won’t move anymore, so you won’t be able to swim with your dolphins. IMHO that’s a good enough reason to add pet dolphins. And orcas. We need orcas!

I really hope anet has learned their lesson about AIs spawning. Turrets, moving spirits, clones… all of which have been or are being nerfed. The community collectively hates it. I mean really hates it. It’s not fun to play and not fun to play against. I don’t think we’ll being seeing more minions added.
A part of the PvP community hates it. It it was the whole community, there wouldn’t have been an issue in the first place as they wouldn’t have played these builds in the first place. That said, since that small crowd pretty much dictates the game balancing in every mode, i’d agree that it’s unlikely we’ll see more/better minions.
As for the rest of the community hating those builds, that’s a hell of an assumption. I very much doubt i’m the only one enjoying minion-builds.

The stat-tuning looks fairly quick with accessories being the most convenient stat-swapping items imho. From a wvw perspective, 20s on 120cd is perfectly fine for me. That’s long enough to go survive the first zerg crash, push through a choke, and is a lot of might and fury when backlining with a ranged pet. 10s would make it a bit of a stretch.
But then, i kinda liked the Ranger’s access to long duration skills and they all get progressively spammier (Muddy Terrain, Healing Spring, Entangle…).
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Yup, been asking for this for years. It would be a much better skill if it were made this way and still proportionate. This would allow its use in each fight to stack might up for you and your pet at the beginning, or whenever. Plus with Resounding Timbre, you’d gain another 10s of Swiftness and 10s of Regen to boot. With RaO at 60s CD (so possible 48s) it would be in line with Signet of Rage but with less duration due to its ability to stack a lot of might.
This NEEDS to happen.
You can stack might for your pet easily enough, however how much might will you have back over 10seconds? I think it needs a longer duration for this mechanic to work properly at the least a 15s duration with a 90cd then instead.
Thought there were already mentions of it becoming a shout, with Heal as One, or was that just speculation? This would already unlock the shout cd reduction, so 20s duration for 96s cooldown. That’s not bat at all for an elite skill.

Ripping 16 boons off one target is pretty OP on a 25s CD mate.
There are already remove all boons skill and that convert them into condis or remove on area etc.
Btw warriors warhorne removes 40 condis, turn 10 in boons, give swiftnes on 12 sec cd and remove 5 more condi convert to boons, aoe vigor, blast finisher + aoe weakness on 16 sec
Am i missed something? You have a point, but there’s a difference between <strip the boons and allow them to reapply> and <make the target practically immune to boons for 5 seconds>
Revenants come with a temporary “immune to conditions” mechanic. Why not have a temporary “immune to boons” one as the flip side? :p
They do not really “come with” … Warriors have had it for years.
… But defensive and offensive “immunity” is something absolutely different.Being immune to boons means BOTH offense and defense. They will deal less damage (defense for you) as well as be vulnerable without Aegis, Protection, Regen and such (offensive for you).
That’s why the idea is wrong.
That was more for the sake of finding an excuse, i don’t particularly think it’s good, justified or balanced. :p
And i’d argue that your point applies equally to conditions. An enemy can be affected by Chill/Blind/Weakness (defense for you) as well as be made vulnerable through Cripple/Immob/Vulnerability/Poison/etc (offensive for you).

It’s neat in wvw when preying around the zerg with trapper runes. Always some downed people around to proc stealth/speed from, and it drops another spike trap. Same goes for small group roaming. Some stealth for rezzing a partner and added protection on the body.
I wouldn’t pick it for any other game mode, but with trapper runes in wvw it’s nice.

“Trapper’s Defense 0/5 Wrong trait line ? And the trap is useless to help a rez anyway.”
Very harsh on that one. Since the advent of Trapper Runes, i like this trait a lot in wvw as initiating a rez procs the rune, granting you stealth and speed. It’s a great source of mobility when hunting around the zergs as there’s always someone downed, and it’s very neat in small group roaming when a friend goes down (stealth rez, and trap-protected body).
Martial Mastery too, i like more than you seem to, maybe because i spend most of my time in wvw. The decreased cooldown on GS3/4 is often a life-saver for me. I’d pick it too for sword mobility/evasion, but there it conflicts too much with off-hand training unfortunately.
Finally, Piercing Arrows is huge in wvw. Don’t think ‘hitting multiple targets’, think ‘hitting your target no matter who gets in the way’. In a focus group, this is the trait that means that you will nuke the target even when it runs back into the zerg.

I never said it can’t be dodged, but unlike all other similar abilities (except unload) you have to dodge twice. That, along with it’s range even at 1200, make it slightly more OP than every other high damage channeled attack
You’d have hated Rangers before the LB update then. RF used to be slower, you’d have needed 3 dodges!
Can we agree that RF update was a nerf then?

Fire/Air sigils on Longbow.
Been wondering about that. Fire provides AoE, so has its own additional effect, but what’s the consensus on Air vs Force? Wouldn’t that constant 5% outdo the lightning proc and it’s icd quickly with a reasonable crit chance?

Maybe the reason why you guys (the community) are no longer bringing this up is because, yea, Guild Wars 2 is two years old now and most of you veteran players have already experienced Season 1’s content, therefore, why bother bringing it up?
No. The reason is that it was brought up 2189541246 times before, pretty much since day 1 of the ‘living story’ concept with probably every single possible argument for/against made countless times.
Since then, Anet have decided to stick with the living story, yet to mitigate some of the temporary nature (purchaseable LS2 episodes for example). Replayable LS1, like replayable PS, is somewhere on their ‘things to do’. But another thread recycling the same arguments once more is unlikely to make it faster. Hence why ‘we guys’ are no longer bringing this up.

I’d rather have SAB as permanent content, but i can see why they don’t do it. Only feeding the limited content for short periods helps keeping it interesting to many who would have forgotten about it by now. Same as seasonal activities.
