I used to run them a lot in wvw, but since we can’t throw them anymore, i ended up dropping them completely. I found them very useful onto or down from walls. They were our only ground-targeted aoe with Barrage. Now Barrage is the only one. Yay…

Ranger Spirits have always been bad and so has Search & Rescue.

I’ll respectfully disagree. Though it’s not my game mode, spirit ranger used to be part of the sPvP meta (that’s what got them nerfed in fact). As for Search & Rescue, i absolutely loved the skill when the pets used to hard-rez (and not just heal the downed).

Of course, in those days, pets also had at least 5000 range, hit hard, and scaled wvw walls. The beastmaster in me is still mourning, but my fingers are crossed, one day, maybe, one day…

The drones look nice, more in a moving spirits style than pets imho. Personally, i love pets/minions, i’m glad that another class gains access to the ‘summoner’ style.

Plus they’re insanely thematic. Asura engineers should have been surrounded by flying constructs from launch.

What i miss from GW1 spirits is their game changing nature. They applied their effects to everyone, friend or foe, changing the rules of the fight for everyone. I bet we’d be more in demand in wvw if we had access to a Frozen Soil spirit that prevented rezzes or made anyone die when downed (including allies, of course).

The current GW2 spirits are just self-destructible banners that you can’t pick up.

Would it be too much to ask that only negatively impacting bugs are listed in that thread, so as to avoid the usual pattern of beneficial bugs being hotfixed in the next 24h while negatively impacting bugs stay in the list for at least 6 months?

And NO, let double dagger ranger be a thing with some plant themed venoms! No rifle, it will just fear the pets.

I have gw1 and hom pets. I can appreciate those locked pets showing up in pet tab as being annoying. No where else is it so obvious.

Perhaps they could have not had locked icons, but instead no icons for the hom pets until they were unlocked. I cannot imagine all the new people\rangers wondering where the hell to find them.

Yeah, always thought it was a terrible design choice. Same as the Mistfire Wolf Elite.

Totally off topic, but anyway. One thing I loved about GW1 was I could play it off a 56k dial up connection in Australia and have no lag whatsoever, whereas now with GW2, I play off a 20mb/s broadband connection and lag all the time…

My issues with the dreadful irish 56k line of those days were that by that time, the rest of the world was on DSL, making pvp a weird experience. PvE-wise, the random disconnections were very punishing with hero parties, basically killing the instance.

It was so painful to restart some of the long Prophecies missions after crashes that i was still dreading it earlier this year when was filling up the HoM.

Time to rename the site to PositiveTonHammer i guess, if even their opinion blogs have to sound like advertisements.

As said above, GW1 is still around, so filling up the HoM enough for 30 points is still an option. I never did much in GW1 at the time as my internet connection was dreadful, but i went back this spring because those missing pets had been teasing me since launch… It took me a month and a half, though i had a little headstart:

If you have zero GW1 experience, i’d say that at least 2 months to get to 30 HoM alone, less if you find a guild helping you out.

That may feel too much for you, but GW1 is still a very enjoyable game in a different style, and you’ll learn an awful lot about the lore.

This. If storage space wasn’t a sinister joke already, just write the files locally, like the rest of our visual/audio/keybindings preferences and login credentials.

To be fair to Anet, if it was their staff i think we’d have seen a short red post explaining the lock politely, like “Thank you for your contribution, we understand your frustration, please bear(bow) with us for a couple weeks. In the meantime we have to lock this thread as it’s not directly HoT related.”.

The no-comment lock looks more like the work of a community-forum-mod-warrior or whatever the actual title is.

Honestly, the whole trait line has terrible synergy with the BearBow meta. If you want to stay competitive, Druid is not an option. Sad, really…

Was going to spec for Druid, but then, the traits didn’t seem to synergize terribly well with the BearBow meta, so decided to stay competitive instead.

Giving us back the leash range we had before sPvP got it nerfed. Since now the game can accomodate sPvP separately, let them enjoy the nerf but give us the leash range back in other modes.

I love my LB4. I call it my Lootskill.

Classic ranger scenario: you run around, because that’s what rangers do. Suddenly your bear stops and points in the distance: OMG a random assortment of non-rangers are ganging up on a mob! The mob is going to die! And you didn’t DPS it! No DPS, no loot! So you’re all like “WTF ammigonnado? non-rangers OP DPS! even pewpew LB2 too slow, mob dead before arrow! me no loot! :’-(”.

Enter the Lootskill.

You hit LB4, and instantly the mob is safely knocked out of harm’s way, giving you plenty of time for a full LB2 channel, ensuring a precious lootbag that may even contain a green. Even more time as half the people previously on the mob are still channeling their 100B or whatever other classes do. And the other half is too busy insulting you on map chat to DPS. Chances are, you even get the killing blow. Points for style. \o/

Pets, pets, pets, pets, pets.

This is our core class mechanic, it should be noticed, it should be feared, it should be QQ’d about. There used to be a time when light armor classes feared our Jaguar even when atop a wvw tower wall. They used to range (!) away from their master, hunting down pesky thieves and distant catapults. These days they’re a glorified Fear/Taunt and a downed skill.

There’s tons of possible options (hp, aoe partial immunity, cleave, attack while moving, and don’t even get me started on the *$"£# leash range). When all the other classes have to complain about is our longbow, you know how weak our core class mechanic is…

Oh, and the pet family thing really gets my *%&£. When i rampage with a frigging BEAR, i’d expect it to maul faces, not be a passive oversized furry sock. Give me independence between skill/stats sets and pet appearance. I want to kill myself when an owl does more damage than my black bear…

tldr: buff pets until forum tears start to flow.

I get that SOME people would complain about this…. but honestly, who ever uses those skins?

With the exception of the headgear, my norn ranger main rolls in Heritage armour. It’s by far one of my favourite medium sets in this game. My charr mesmer uses abyss-dyed light Heritage. The fact that these can be applied for 0 transmutation charges means that i often use bits and pieces on new alts too.

And though i had that low-point stuff already unlocked for a while, well, i happen to be one of the mythical players you don’t seem to believe in, having gone back to GW1 to get through to 30 only recently. I even commented the adventure afterwards:
