Thanks for that Anet, most hilarious wvw night in ages.

Lots of lulz were had last night. Piken Square Squadron on a low bombing approach to the Hills Lord’s bunker:

Poor one percent. But don’t worry, as soon as Anet realizes how much gem sales they miss out on by driving you out they will quickly…
Oh.

I have 3. It’s fun to play with different looks on the various races, you get to enjoy the racial skills and abuse their synergy with the traits (pre-ferocity norn bear form charge one shot, charr LR+hidden pistol dodges, asura 6s Technobabble, sylvari immobilize spam…).
Save the Bell Choir activity!
I’ve had a hard time since the pet range and damage nerf and the quickness nerf and trait swaps personally. Fond memories of my Jaguar of days gone by… Sometimes, i look at my old Apothecary armour in the bank and i weep.

I hope they will improve spirits and make special symbioses between spirits and druids
Spirits have deliberately been nerfed to please the sPvP crowd. Don’t hold too many hopes.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
My thoughts? It’s probably going to be a spellcasting staff-wielding wizard without a robe. Bo-ring.
But lots of players wanted just that, so fair enough, you can’t please everyone.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
You’re sure you didn’t have the stealth-on-cc trait?
Save the Bell Choir activity!
How about not bursting up skills again? I like the delayed ‘lenghty’ cripple area. Ranger used to be full of long-lasting effects, but we already got Muddy Terrain, Healing Spring and Entangle turned into burstier variants. What’s next, TU healing for 60% but over 5s?
Save the Bell Choir activity!
All is vain.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
If they’re going to address pets, i think attack-on-the-move would be the main game changer. Non-cleave single target attack is fine if it can hit.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
The SW corner of Fireheart Rise has lots of them running in groups.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Yeah, that’s the New Player Experience™.
New players having something else to do in the starting areas than press 1 was deemed ‘too confusing’. Hence no more tameable pets in those areas, no underwater combat, no ‘overly complex’ activities like Golem Chess in Metrica, no F1-F4 control or renaming the pet before level ??, no notification of skill points or vistas, no access to wvw or spvp until level ??, etc.
I fondly remember the magic of starting this game the first time, that feeling that there was so much to do and so few of it was locked. It was a major breeze of fresh air compared to most mmos early leveling killing 10 rats with one skill on the bar.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
River Drake F2 is a targeted channeled skill, like Rapid Fire. Hit F2 before the target stealths and after the casting time the lightning bolts will shoot at the (invisible) target.
It seems obvious to me now, but i only discovered it recently fighting a thief near Anza, hit F2, he disappeared, then the bolts started hitting the air and he reappeared down.

2: A detonate button.
“What? Noooo that’s totally not an asuran experimental explosive harness. It’s, errr, a, you know, sort of an engineer’s medkit that will heal the people around you. Promised. The remote control? Well that’s just, like, you know, so i can check your own health while you’re far away. Ok, so, now, see the people over there with the red names? Red names mean they’re bleeding, so quick, hurry up to them so they get healed and when you get back i’ll give you a biscuit. There’s a good dog!”

It is slightly more straining then the original black indeed. Originally i thought the point was to separate the various chats, so green for /say and blue for /party, but no, party chat is green too. A colour picker would be neat.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Woo! Spring traps and Survival Unguents go!
It’s a deal.
Please take note and implement now, Anet. Thanks.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
You selfish, non-thematic Rangers can have spring as a trap heal.
As a natural-born-RPer, I deeply resent the non-thematic accusation. There is nothing more natural than (Heal) Springing a Trap.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Edit: @Cafard – I was thinking the other day that healing spring could be made a trap, through a trait or something. (though sounds a tad OP)
Fair enough, i’ll settle for HS as a trap. Ground targeted, reduced cooldown, increased area, increased duration, rune-proc stealth, HERE I COME!
Save the Bell Choir activity!
It would be OP, i can’t support that motion.
As a half-way measure totally unrelated to my stealth-trapper roaming, i propose that it be made a Trap skill.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
I pity the OP in advance of the day he comes across a stealth trap build…
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Liked it. Echoes my experience with stealth trapping a lot, though i don’t think i’d have survived some of those moments. I run SB/S+D because i really need the extra dodge.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
@cafard, could you share your build that you use with celestial armour?
Well, it’s pretty much every build short of stealth trapping as i’ve got a dire set for that (my only min-max set, since it required a specific rune anyway). At the moment, i mostly run along the zerg with 60620 (piercing arrows, eagle eye, martial mastery, empathic bond, power for vitality) with HS, SoS, SoR, LR and Entangle slotted, River Drake/Polar Bear, and switching out SoR for Sic’Em if roaming.
As a poster posted above, you very rarely use all the stats at the same time (not much use for condi damage and healing power in my current build for example), so it is pretty much inferior to a set with only the stats you need. But if you’re lazy – and i am – it allows to swap build on the fly without carrying 3 or 4 sets of armour. And having a little of everything means little comforts like on-crit sigils still work decently in a condi build, so again, for lazy types, less many weapons and sigils to have laying around. My main grievance is runes, i really wish we could hotswap them. I’m stuck to one set (Traveller now, used to be 2/2/2 boon duration before it got nerfed) and it’s annoying.

Reduce pet leash range to 5000.
^Wat.
Well, we’ve been OP since they “increased” it to 2000, so it’s time to nerf it back to where it was before.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
For ultimate look and feel, i don’t think you can beat sword/dagger. It’s acrobatics galore and looks really neat as you dance and leap all around the target. A close second is axe/axe, in a mad axe dancer kind of way, throwing them left right and centre. And traited whirling defense on a max sized norn is a thing of beauty. <3

Save the Bell Choir activity!
My build will always be longbow + X (GS, Sword/xxx etc), but in case I want to explore other options, Celes set will allow me to do so. Do you guys think it’s good idea, since I am not really a min/max kind of player.
One year later, i’m still using celestial armour, so yeah, if you can live without the minmax, it’ll work for everything. And with laurels, guild comms and fractal runs, you can quickly build up a collection of account-bound ascended amulets/earrings/rings to switch around and tune your stats.
The only thing to consider is whether you intend to get into high level fractals. This is the only real big bonus of ascended: you can slot additional agony resistance on it. If you don’t really care and just want it as the best-in-slot goal, then go ahead. If you do intend to run high level fractals though, min-maxing is probably a good idea, so you may want to find out which is your optimal stats set for dungeons and craft that one as ascended, and run exotic celestial for everything else.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Marsh drake? That’s poison projectile that bounces. Of coarse it lands.
massive cast time though
The river drake’s F2 is the bouncing one with a long cast time. Works to your advantage against stealth classes though, just like rapid fire and others(?) channeled attacks. F2 on a visible thief, and he’ll be on the wrong end of the lightning bolts even if stealthed in the meantime.

It’s been called for since release… Don’t hold your breath.

Equip Sword+dagger/GS, and slot Signet of Stone, Lightning Reflexes and Hidden Pistol.

Or play spirits and slot Warband Support for even more pets!
And who needs a bow when you can have a Charzooka?
Save the Bell Choir activity!
I run celestial with traveller runes for pretty much everything. ‘Good enough’ damage, health and armour. I’d minmax if it was straightforward to swap between multiple stats sets, but as it is, i can’t be bothered with too many armour sets. The main exception is a set a dire armour with trapper runes, since i wasn’t going to overwrite the traveller’s runes every time i wanted to run stealth traps.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
The fact that my pets’ stats are completely independent of my own so one or both of us can be glassy, tanky, etc..
Yeah, love that too. Glad the devs didn’t listen to the 785324347 threads asking for pet stats to scale with ranger stats.

p.s. Even now Anet is still making changes to the game to kill off any and all GvG in GW2. Latest patch and new WvW maps are prime examples. There is serious hate from anet there.
They made an arena just for you in OS. Why would other maps affect you?

Huge wvw lag (Piken Square), pretty much unplayable.

Completely unplayable for me on Piken Square.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
As to why this is important; contrary to belief, GvG is popular among servers and especially the WvW community. Any person who even casually delves into WvW probably knows who the guild [Agg] is
I guess i’m the exception then. I spend 99% of my gw2 time in wvw and i don’t have a clue who they are.

Darksyze, if you have trouble closing down gaps, maybe you should ask some tips to that guy who thinks there’s actually too much mobility in that game and it should be nerfed:
His name may sound familiar.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
what frustrate me is how this is the first mmo i ever play in my life where mobility is extreme. I mean, this is an mmo, no fps game. A thief profession, A Elemental Profession and A Warrior Profession having this extreme mobility in a mmo-un heard of in mmo history.
Well good news is, Arena net is make serious change to this because it is rapidly destroying fun and destroying challenge in this game and is fault for pushing many player out to find fun somewhere else. Fun keep player motivated an in return; they will invest more for challenge content and fun content. Player Investment is important for Arena net growth and prosperity.
I expect thief, ele and warrior extreme mobility to be nerf by 40%-55%. Again this is a mmo-challenge and fun: not a fps game or not a racing game.
I hope this rumor patch is true because us player is very frustrated of play hide and seek with these class.
On the ranger forum, you keep complaining that rangers and engies 1500 range is impossible to gap, and here you complain that it’s too easy to close gaps for three non-ranger non-engie professions?
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Spirit positioning is a bit awkward indeed… However:
I propose that spirits be stripped of their cliche oakheart skin and be given a colored wisp skin (Frost – White, Sun – Red, Wind – Purple, Water – Blue, Nature – Green, Stone – Brown)
Don’t you dare touching my oakheart skin. Or the dolphin for that matter. And i don’t think you could make anymore of a cliché than colour-coded wisps for elemental spirits.

Personally, i just run fractals for 20 slot bags, they’re what, 150 relics?
Save the Bell Choir activity!
but the loot was glorious.
they cannot do this. They can add elite zones, we already have harder content in game, like fractals. But they cannot add noteworthy or even exclusive loot.
Euhm, what? Why?
Because we’ll simply zerg it, like the rest of the non-instanced ‘challenging’ content.
