Best I could do without photochop
This is excellent.
@Tachenon : I get what you’re saying but I don’t think it really works in this case. Revs are pretty flashy with their skills; I’m turning into a demon avatar, solid stone, or summoning the cornerstone of Sylvari morals. Even if my character mentioned they were a Rev, it wouldn’t be possible for one current class to do all this.
@Empemiel : It matters to people who value consistent storytelling, especially people in the RP community.
No other game has really done it, so i don’t think it matters.
Also since when does the RP community apply to any decision made in any MMO?
You seem to think we’re asking for a huge change when a lot of the confusion can be cleared up with dialogue. Anet is making it harder on themselves by continually portraying Revs to be NEW!!
A possibility: Rytlock used the Mists to return back in time of Tyria and make Rev skills a thing, but his students were sworn not to say who first taught them. (because idk timeline kitten) That way Revs have always been a thing, Rytlock is still the “first” Rev, and Past!Rytlock is unaware of the actions his future self will do, perhaps until the moment the Mist rift opened and it clicked for him.
Saying Rytlock is the first Rev and nothing else, The new team being confused and surprised by Rev abilities, are all things Anet has done that are shooting themselves in the foot from a storyline point of view.
Mine is Q as I use WASD movement and EXCV for my attunements. E is my burst when I play Warrior which I play most, so it’s easiest for me.

The Mist works in mysterious ways.
It can easily be explained by simply returning at a point earlier on in the history of Tyria after going into the Mist and training as a Revenant.
Here is an example of that being confusing/bad. Beta spoilers ahead:
Say you are a Rev and you enter Maguuma to rescue people. You fight several waves of Mordrem until you are faced against the mounted rider which Rytlock jumps out to attack. You then proceed the fight and win.
Then Kas says, “What is that new magic you’re using?” To Rytlock.
While, as a Rev, I had been using the SAME king of magic since the start. Kas SHOULD know about it, especially if I played through LS2 with my Rev.
Agreed, this all doesn’t make sense in a story telling way. Like it was said above, one could IMAGINE that the Zhaitan storyline is your Rev essentially playing through the events in a Fractal-ish manner in the Mists.
But if it’s just a simulation it makes no sense for others to be calling you the Commander. If that happened in some alternate universe.
My biggest concern is playing through the personal story as my new Rev, going through that and the whole Zhaitan ordeal; all of which is before Revs are even a THING. It makes no sense in a story telling point of view, because Rytlock isn’t a Rev yet either. This is the biggest question I want them to address.
Now onto more personal RP things I’ve been doing with my Rev:
- It makes sense that in training it’s possible for Revs to be possessed by Legends, but when working correctly, it’s not like that. The Legend is INVITED into the Rev’s mind and as a guest they are only allowed to do so much.
- As for Revs seeing with their blindfold, I see it as being intune with the Mists that they have a sense of “Mist Sonar” or Mist Vision as I call it. They can perceive changes in the Mists around them (Remember Tyria is part of the Mists) so they can sense things around them in relationship to the Mists.

Unless their Elite Spec lets you cherry pick elements from each legend (doubtful, but I guess not impossible) then your heal, utilities, and elite change with your stance you’re in.
From what has been seen you will be required to use the skills the legend comes with and no others.
Do it and tell us results. For science.
The only clothing merch I’ve seen (GW2 bandanna when game first released, HoT Rytlock Shirt, HoT lanyard) were all given away for promotions at cons (PAX).
Your character doesn’t talk to their legend, but sometimes the legend will say a line when you swap to their stance. I’m sure it will get old fast, unless it’s Jalis shouting “Stonehammer is ready for battle!” In a really forced Russian accent. That is just funny to me every time.
Don’t they always follow up with a stream on Fridays? People were all BLEH over Dragonhunter until they saw the video. Just because you’re not excited doesn’t mean others aren’t. //shrugs
Now wait a sec, is it 100% confirm that You MUST be in Ventari to use staff on Revenant?
I don’t think it’s confirmed at all, actually.
The reverse in fact. The staff is just one of the weapon options of the Revenant and Ventari is just one of the legendary stance options of the Revenant. Although they fit together thematically, you in no way have to use them together.
Now wait a sec, is it 100% confirm that You MUST be in Ventari to use staff on Revenant?
Wasn’t confirmed and isn’t likely required. Ventari is no where strong enough to be their Elite Spec.
1. Elite specs are not stronger than normal specs.
2. Elite specs do not have to use their related weapon.
I guess what I mean is Ventari isn’t IMPRESSIVE enough to be their WOW LOOK AT THIS SPECIAL NEW LINE legend. That feels more like Glint.
Now wait a sec, is it 100% confirm that You MUST be in Ventari to use staff on Revenant?
Wasn’t confirmed and isn’t likely required. Ventari is no where strong enough to be their Elite Spec.
my suspicion is that the summoning and repositioning of the tablet will be on skill 1 (ground targetted AoE), with 2-5 being the other weapon skills
It sounds like you are suggesting it takes over your 1-5 skills (weapon skills) instead of your support skills (6-10).
I can’t see that being likely. However if you mean that it takes our 6-10 with activation being in “skill 1” (aka skill6, aka our heal slot) is what I’m concerned about. I suppose passively the stance can just have a regen heal similar to warriors, then on activation you need to rely on the tablet to heal yourself.
Hmm, this part makes me wonder:
So, how does it work? When you first invoke Legendary Centaur Stance, you’ll have only one available skill. This skill will summon the tablet to appear next to your character. After you bring the tablet into the world, your skill bar will fill with the five legend-based skills, all of which manipulate the tablet.
The “You will only have 1 skill until you activate tablet” was what I’m thinking is odd. What is the skill? Where is it placed? Is it our heal slot? Utility? What happens to the heal slot when you are in the stance but haven’t activated the tablet yet? If you don’t have a heal until you activate the tablet, it’ll make it extremely important not to camp the Ventari stance until you absolutely need it.
Just seems very odd to me.
I’d take Mai over Jade Maw any day.

Please stop.
This is all fascinating tbh.
Fractals already can be 3-manned though, 2 if you’re lucky with levels.
If single player fractals came out and gave the exact same rewards, wouldn’t it diminish the value of those who have the same item and all the hours of pugs/perfecting techniques with your fractal group?
Then people will want better rewards for solo fractals because “they are harder.”
Additionally, I will point out that all of the rest of game is essentially completely solo-able, so there is no reason why very select content should be gated behind grouping.
But why is it a bad thing for some content to require a group? I mean, you can already get dungeon rewards without ever setting foot in the dungeon with PvP tracks. Fractal skins (and tonic) are exclusive to the gameplay mode. Why is that a bad thing to have pure group content?
I personally like having to work with others. There is so much content that is easy to solo face roll in this game that requiring some sort of coordination is welcomed. The whole idea with Fractals is to work together. If you want to solo group content there are lots of dungeons.
COH proved that it is entirely possible to have the same instances available in hardmode for those who want it, and easy/solo for those who want that. It COULD be implemented, and it wouldn’t detract from anyone’s game experience. It’s been a while, but I seem to recall there were also achievements you could ONLY get in hardmode, which would feed the one-upmanship that’s apparently going around.
Okay, that is a different game all together. Many fractals have mechanics that require 2-3 people to complete, which require coordination from the given parties.
Say the make new fractals intentionally to be solo-able. How would rewards work? Should solo fractals reward more or less than group fractals? I assume party members would be banned from entering your solo fractal instance, otherwise it would be way too easy with a group, right? Why would one bother doing a solo fractal when a solo dungeon could be faster? Why would one bother doing a group fractal if solo fractal rewards are the same/better?
I think most are pretty self explainitory, especially Blast finishers in a given field. They’re fun to experiment with when you are new and I don’t think it’s something that needs to have your hand held for you. Plus there is always /wiki combo field

Dragonite eater please. Or use it to craft actual weapons in HoT. Something, anything!
I hope they make a version of Sprint but with gliding in HoT.
LB just has so many good utilities to pass up. The ONLY time Rifle might be preferred is as a back up weapon in Thermalnova Fractal last boss.
Where am I supposed to keep my Mordrem mines?!
Thank you for this! Man, now I want fuzzy hats…

I think Beta will be relatively streamlined, and it’s already begun.
Yep, it has begun! Again this is pure speculation on what I think would be the most logical plan. I assume:
- We’ll see at least one more closed beta, especially selected for those accounts who bugged and never got a beta slot despite getting a portal (further streamlining)
- Open Beta weekends, aimed for stress testing
- WvW Beta testing; this might have happen but it was a very limited scale. I’d hope they stress test that more.
I’m HOPING that E3 we will see a date not for HoT, but open beta. It seems like a more reasonable goal right now and can give us a better idea of where everything else falls into place.

August still seems very optimistic to me; they still have so much to turn out in just a couple of months if so.
The main reasons I’m skeptical of August is because they have to release the new trait system first and work out all the bugs with that first. This being after each spec reveal, and after at least one more beta (my assumption. But HoT beta isn’t the same as core specs). But regardless i assume they’ll have at least 2 more beta sessions, closed or otherwise, before HoT too.
Mawdrey is completely possible if you can buy 2 Episodes of S2. Even the different items you need crafted on different professions can be bought. Almost all of it can be bought except for Luck and Bloodstone dust, which you should have more than enough of.
Yeah i get that. It just seems really dull and another way to drag things out.
I’m not sure why you consider it dragging it out, though? It’s not like HoT is ready and they are putting off releasing it until they release every tidbit. This is information to hold us over until they are finished, that’s all.
I agree that just one legend reveal wouldn’t be enough to fill an hour, but there is so much about Rev we don’t know yet officially, like weapons and weapon skills. Underwater mechanics. 2 trait lines. They could add any one of those things to pad out the rest of the time.
The revenant assumption seems silly to me. Its a centaur, not a playable race. Theres no revenant style symbol/colouring either. A transform into something like a centaur seems pretty odd. Its no less odd than a druid transforming into a centaur.
Im not saying its impossible. Just seems pretty much equally unlikely as druid (putting dev comments aside).
https://m.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2z9ygs/datamining_new_legendary_stances_for_the_revenant/
Sorry but very much more likely than Druid. The image for the stance switch for ventari even has vines.
No one said Rev was going to turn into a Centaur. You turn to Stone with Jalis’s Elite. You get a shroud appearance with Mallyx’s.
But you’re welcome to believe what you wish.

And this is why Devs never give a date unless they are ABSOLUTELY sure because people will take any off-hand comment and hold it as the one and only truth. And if they don’t meet that time frame, the masses riot saying “BUT YOU SAID-”
This is why we get “It’s ready when it’s ready.”
From what I can tell, this conference the video is taken from a developer’s conference and not aimed for publicity or exposure. Please, do NOT guarantee this comment is set in stone.
Centaur transformation as a charr.. It wont end well.
Cencharr?
Or human/Sylvari transformed saying “IM AS FAST AS A CENTAUR” becomes awkward.
Okay but I think whatever it is, is clearly not a Druid thing. I’m betting on Rev with an outlook of being:
June 5th: Rev’s Vintari legend (and new weapon?)
June 12th: Nothing OR game mechanic/lore
June 19th: Review of E3 information released
June 26th: Next Spec (Ranger ?)
Dude. Its a l2p issue. Sorry
Seeing how a lot of people above you agreed, I would say that no, it’s not an L2P issue.
How about you either present a valid argument based on fact, or just refrain from posting.
But it IS a l2p issue based on your OP. You’re complaining it’s frustrating because you die, get feared, and can’t reach the target. You were not complaining to say it was boring or tedious or long. Everyone above is saying you shouldn’t be having a hard time. Whether you find it fun or not when you are doing the event correctly is another story.
Remember when Fire Elemental was hard?
The one thing I miss is a right click → Follow that other games I’ve played had. I hate holding up my friends if I need to brb shortly for a drink when I could potentially just follow their character.
Ugh, reading all this just confirms how badly I need to update.
My biggest problem is that my game feels choppy. Sometimes running around is smooth but most of the time there feels like a lass then half a second chop between it all. This makes things like jumping puzzle-ish content very difficult. I wonder if this is a processor/gfx card issue with them being so out of date (like .. 6 years) or a connection.
Being the voice of reason here, as Roleplay is not something I really understand. I imagine it to be like kids playing with toys, just virtually.
Irrespective, there is one very simple solution to your problem. Go to a private Instance with your team.
There are Home Instances, the Eye of the North, Personal Story Instances, Living Story Instance and Dungeons. Which makes up for a lot of area’s where you will get zero interruption from other players.
Hope that helps
I’d just like to respectfully give you some incite. People who RP consider it less “kids playing with toys” and more interactive storytelling. It’s like being an actor to stories you get to weave and make with other people. If those two things are the same to you then, ah, well.
Part of RPing a character means they have a personality and backstory. Some people get enjoyment out of just sitting around towns and talking about daily things, for which instances ARE good for… If the story lends itself to it. You can’t get away with the same things RPing in the home instance in Divinity Reach if your character has reason to be elsewhere in the city (God shrines, Queen’s Garden, etc.)
Other RPers aren’t satisfied with sitting around and want to RP on the field, between fighting monsters or world bosses. Instances aren’t available for that, either.
It’s a shame RPers are met with hostility (either people being nasty or intentionally trolly) and I think part of the problem is that /me (the command I see most RPers use) has a VERY wide reach. This can make maps spammy (especially multitier maps like Rata Sum/The Grove and annoy others. It’d be nice if they could limit it to a range like /say, instead.
I like having specific world bosses as dailies, as it populates some quieter maps, even if for a short while. It’s probably the only one that should double-up. But the second one should be at the same time/close to same time.
Get rid of Map event daily please, it’s so bad. (Except Sparkfly during Teq and SW)
As someone who does a lot of fractals, I love double fractal days, but honestly they need to get rid of the single stage version. I have done 1 set with 3 different groups because people would join for one then leave if it wasn’t stage 3. But they should just make it a general Daily Fractal scale and not a given set (1-10).
All depends on the guild. I asked to join one even though I fell short of their requirements and they’ve been very welcoming and helpful get up to speed with the rest of them.
I agree to contact the leader and ask. If they don’t get back to you then just avoid the group and look for another.
Literally every time I have to go to the Grove for whatever reason, I see people RPing there. Also a handful of times in Southsun Cove. They are usually in the same guild, as it is easier to find many like-minded people there. While they RP in public, I’m sure the majority of RP happens in /party or /guild chat.
I RP with my friend who I joined the game with, but we keep it to /party, since I don’t have much desire to join an RP guild. Guilds tend to be very strict with guidelines and my friend and I slip in and out of character often. To us, we know when the other is IC or not, while others might not.
That slope is far too slippery.
Time to start RPing.
I notice that lightning blasts hit faster than the fire ones, even though they seem to be firing at the same time. You have less to to avoid the Lightning ones, but lol good luck figuring out which circle is which.
Can’t say I’ve been hit despite being in a safe spot. Maybe I’m just lucky.
1. Requires you switching to a bundle mid-throw I believe.
2. Not heard of this one.
