When doing the trial for each candidate Gnashblade says he wants the loot for himself and Kiel says she wants to return the loot to its owner. Why on earth would anyone want to elect Evon Gnashblade to “serve the people”?

And before anyone answers “Abaddon”, would you really rather have a visual representation of lore you’ve known for eight years over a chance to learn something entirely new about the world of Tyria in the Reactor Meltdown?

Herein lies the problem…who says that achievements, in a general sense, are PvE content? If an achievement involves going into WvW, then it’s not PvE content.

Aside from one lore-less “fetch this” achievement, the entirety of the content takes place in PvE. It’s story driven (or it’s supposed to be). It start’s with mail sent from a PvE NPC. Its impact is localized to PvE. And 99% of it takes place within PvE. If you want to split hairs, go for it. But if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck I’m going be okay with calling it a duck.

rapid fire is 10 vuln now… i think it sounds like a pretty good change

… gonna have some fun in wvw

It’s 1 vulnerability per shot. It’s 10 seconds of vulnerability spread out over 4.5 seconds. And that’s assuming all the shots hit. And even if they do, the first vulnerability is going to wear off before the last does, so it’s not a straight 10% damage increase like it was with Hunter’s Shot…my poor, dear Hunter’s Shot.

So your own build doesn’t work and you are to lazy to think of a new one adapting the crit chance, stealth and so one ? Well that’s bad for you, than you will never be good at this class

reason behind time gating quartz?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: darkace.8925

darkace.8925

Time gating and DR = makes sure people who spent time in the game doesn’t go too far ahead of those who spent little time.

I don’t buy that with regards to charged quartz crystals. The gear it’s used to make is of the same tier and the stats offered give no competitive advantage over someone wearing any other exotic-tiered gear. And even if they were better than the other exotic gear (they’re not), letting players sell them on the Trading Post would have instantly leveled the playing field.

But saying only PvE people deserve jumping puzzles, so putting them in PvP is not fun because it’s not fun to you isn’t great. Dungeons aren’t that much fun to me, but I acknowledge there are people that like it.

I don’t think too many people (any?) are saying WvW shouldn’t get Jumping Puzzles. The complaint, I believe, is that PvE content is being tied to WvW Jumping Puzzles.

For someone who has never done the OS JP before, getting through is a difficult enough task. For them to do it with dozens of other players trying to kill them is virtually impossible. By asking PvE players who would have otherwise never set foot in WvW to enter this jumping puzzle to complete PvE content, Anet is essentially leading lambs to slaughter.

“You don’t need it to get the meta achievement,” I hear you say. “Get some people to help you,” I hear you say. Both of those are fair enough responses, but they don’t answer the question of why Anet feels it necessary to tie PvE content to WvW jumping puzzles.

4 Weeks Price Reduction > Good Dungeon?

darkace.8925

Seriously, who cares about keys or wps.
Are you really that poor in-game to be all exited for reduced WP costs?
And I doubt anyone here is exited for more RNG keys either.

The point is, 4 week price reductions doesn’t matter, neither do silly mini-games, they’re irrelevant, the question should be : which dungeon is better? *
*And, I think we already know the answer for that : Abaddon.

Knowing the Abaddon Fractal is the better of the two would not only require a time machine allowing you to travel forward in time to see the finished result, but also a dimensional portal allowing you to visit an alternate reality where Kiel wins the election since Anet has stated they will not make both.

Since apparently posses both, will you use your time machine to tell me how my Houston Texans will fare this season? Then will you use your dimensional portal to travel to a reality where Matt Schaub didn’t get injured against the TB Buccs two years ago and let me know if my Texans would have got passed the Ravens in the playoffs? Thanks.

…so someone has to actually work for the Celestial gear

What work? Running to a Place of Power once a day isn’t work. Well, it’s busy work, but not work work.

do things themselves over a period of time using their own 400 level crafters

They’ve already done it for themselves since they’ve got their craft to 400. Crafting exotics is supposed to be the fruit of one’s labor, but now we’re being told we can only enjoy that fruit one grape per day.

not just buy a full set off the TP five minutes after they ding 80.

Celestial is account bound…no one is going to buy a full set off the TP whether the charged crystals are time-gated or not.

After all, they can buy the quartz off the TP…

Why does the ability to purchase quartz off the TP mean we should be limited to obtaining charged quartz, used to make account bound gear, once per day?

I think this is testing concepts toward the pink-con level 500 craftables. Which had better take a lot of work over a long time, if they are not to cheapen epic gear.

How does possession of something cheapen it?

I personally don’t want to see every weapon for every class. A Class is as much defined by what it can’t do as what it can do. And I think you would lose a lot of class style by giving every class every weapon.

I agree. In fact, I think the professions are already overly homogenized as is. Letting everyone use every weapon doesn’t bring much to the table other than more for the sake of more. And more isn’t always a good thing.

Scepter Master achievement as a Mesmer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: darkace.8925

darkace.8925

I apologise for sounding negative, but: this was the most aggravating cheevo ever. As a mainhand weapon, this thing is slow, there is even a pause before the clone is generated, and is lacking in every way in comparison to the sword, staff, GS etc.

I love this game, but working with this weapon makes me hate it more every time I try. It is extremely clunky and inefficient and its slowness means I can generate clones far faster with other weapons, utilities, or even just dodging.

I realise folks have a lot on their plate, so I don’t expect an immediate fix (obviously folks would not over one complaint anyway), but I probably will never use this weapon again once I’m done the achievement, just because every other weapon does things better and faster.

More aggravating that Giant Slayer? I’m at 7/1000 on that particular achievement.

Sadly I don’t think anyone cares for character development or story. There could be strong implications that Evon eats children and is a Jormag worshipper but players would still vote for him because of that fractal.

It’s really just about the fractals in the end.

That’s the way I feel, too. I suspect most people are going to vote Abaddon vs Reactor, fewer will vote BL Keys vs WP Fees, and fewer still will vote characters/lore. I like that ANet is letting us make an impact on the world through Living Story, but I don’t like that they’ve made the lore a backseat passenger to rewards.

celestial trinkets for rifle a dmg/cc hybrid?

in Engineer

Posted by: darkace.8925

darkace.8925

I run a power/crowd control rifle build. I’m wondering if you guys think I should trade my coral trinkets in for celestial ones? As is, I’ve got +70% condition duration for longer cripples and vulnerabilities, but my burns and bleeds also benefit from this. If I made the swap my crit chance would go from 52 to 40%, but my crit damage would go from 29 to 52%.

I’d lose a bit of damage on my bleeds and burns, but the condition damage is bonus damage for my build. Sharpshooter, Incendiary Powder and Sigil of Fire are the only on-crit effects I’m using in this build. So, is the swap an advised one? Or would you guys stick with coral?

Don’t see Nything wrong with thiz. You should not be instantly geared. If you were where would the fun be

I don’t know, open-world pve? Dungeons? Fractals? WvW? Jumping Puzzles? You know, the same sort of stuff we’ve had fun doing before a new tier of gear was added to the game.

My problem with one a day limits is real life. Some days I have hours to blow on GW2… some days I don’t get to log on. I’d love to spend a lazy Saturday grinding for mats, and nor feel panicky about missing the next six chances.

I suspect that’s the whole intent. It’s a very Zynga-esque method of making people feel they’re missing out if they’re not logging in on a daily basis.

One thing to keep in mind is that once all your characters at lv80 are fully equiped with ascended stuff, there’s pretty much nothing left to do with them. Unless you want to go legendary on all them.

There are people who actually enjoy games in spite of carrots. Their enjoyment of a game stems from the game play and doesn’t cease the moment they’ve got the best gear in the game. Some of these people will be able to continue to enjoying the game play whether they’re in ascended gear or not. But some of these people also want to run dungeons, Fractals, WvW, etc. optimally. And they’re going to prevented from doing so for a long time because of time-gating…the laziest design philosophy a developer can implement.
