One thing that really surprised me though was the performance of GF in SoS BL. In one instance, Niim and I were in the JP together and engaged a hammer war and guard from GF by the vault. The 2v2 went for awhile since we were hammer war/guard also. Then another guard and another hammer war from different TC clans joined the fight. We managed to focus down the GF war 2v4 and finish off the rest in a timely manner. I wrote it off to just some off-play by GF since I’ve fought them in the past and know they usually have decent players.
But then something else strange happened. Most of my guild buddies logged off early for the night but I found 4 more randoms to run with from different guilds I’ve never heard of before, probably PvE guilds. Some of them were not guilded, and one of them was an uplevel too. Anyway we met a roaming group of 3-4 GF + 2 from another clan that I hadn’t heard of and, as a pug group with an uplevel, we managed to just streamroll this GF party in like 20 seconds flat. They came back 3-4 more times and just getting mowed down before giving up. I think it was an ele, glassy char hammer war and norn hammer war from GF and a D/P thief and staff mesmer from this other guild.
Did GF start mass recruiting from LA or run with PvE gear last night or something? I don’t really understand how a pug group was allowed to just steamroll through an organized GF party.

Holy kitten what a zergfest last night. If anything has ever convinced me not to ever transfer to T1 it was the lag in the those fights. How can anyone enjoy that kitten? It’s like stonemist except everywhere, it feels like I’m moving through mud and skills fail to go off. And its not even in the zergs, but happens everywhere from the sheer amount of load the server has. Woo it’s like being CC’d for an entire roaming session!
The score was so tight last night because coverage was equal for all servers. Every BL was queued on Mag until about 12AM CST. That’s unheard of for Mag. Albeit most of them were probably PvErs doing achievements, but still they make a good distraction. We still have absolutely no oceanic (i’ve heard rumors on the Mag forum that one may have been spotted a few nights ago on Mag, we need screenshot to confirm though) so that sorta explains why TC pulled ahead in SEA time. I’m quite a bit surprised we’re ahead of SoS though, as I thought they had a massive oceanic crew.

Maguuma congrats on Gold. On that note, losing a fully fortified garrison and smc within 30 minutes of each other won’t cut it in Gold.

So, in all honesty the reason why you, SBI, get so much crap is because you do things that no one with any skill in the game actually respects.
You pay for anyone with a pulse to transfer over to your server just so you can zerg down middle-tier servers more effectively.
You admit yourselves to being a bandwagon server on your (publicly-viewable) SBI community forums.
You come to a consensus to intentionally tank your server to silver to appease the bandwagoners and seal-club your way to a worthless finisher. And anyone who doesn’t think this is intentional on the part of SBI doesn’t understand the server ranking system. SBI literally got one of the most valuable match-ups to move them up in points, and Mag got one of the least valuable and, despite this, Mag is currently sitting at the 6 spot above SBI.
Honestly, you don’t belong in gold league because you don’t have the attitude to survive it. You told me in the past match-up thread that my estimation of your server collapsing in about 4 weeks of being subjected to gold match-ups was nonsense because your community was so “tight-knit” and everyone moved to the server before the bandwagoning happened, when in fact you were just lying through your teeth because your primary motivator toward tanking to silver is to protect your bankrolled community from the mass-exodus that would happen in gold. This is all on the open letter on the SBI community forums that anyone from any server can view.
Mag might talk a lot of kitten when it comes to this game, but:
1) It’s all in good fun and entertainment;
2) We can back it up with the skillful fights that other players on different servers can appreciate and enjoy.
We know we’d be way above our coverage level in gold but we don’t care as long as we have constant fights. We also know that such a situation would only serve to make us stronger as a community and a server. And unlike the very small minority of people on SBI who express this sentiment, it’s a majority consensus on our server. In fact, a number of clans on Mag have tossed-around the possibility of transferring if we DON’T get into gold because we would lack a challenge in silver.
So please just continue to get out of our way. Not only would it be in both of our best interests, but community leaders from other gold-league servers have expressed that they would much rather face us in gold for the fights that they know we will bring than SBI is capable of doing.

Playing GW2 is really not hard.
I know there are some players that really shine and make a class stand out in GW2. Let’s say they are the top 10%. And there are some bad players that maybe just don’t know what to do because they are new. Or maybe even mentally challenged. These can be the bottom 10%. Everyone else is the middle 80% IMO.
I daresay most of the people who think, and say, they are great players…really are not! They just think they are better than most of the players around them. They are really in the middle 80% and just too egotistical to realize it. I know I am in the middle somewhere and know I am not in the top 10% on any class. Wish more Maguuma players would realize that. Get tired of hearing in mumble how great they think they are and how ‘bad’ everyone else is. I know it is hard to believe, but having some humility is a generally seen as a positive trait.
Same with large guilds. Think because you have a large guild that is WvW oriented you don’t have any bad players in it? And everyone in small guild, or guilds that aren’t focused as much on WvW, are all ‘bad’? Please! <rolls eyes>. So darn ridiculous.
Be interesting to see how well some of these ‘elite’ commanders, who are wishing to “purge the bads,” do in WvW in the gold league when they have even less people following them than they had the past few weeks. After the ‘bads’ transfer’ or quit logging into WvW, and they have 1/3 their usual numbers following them, how fun is it going to be fighting a server like say, TC? Bet they will wish they had more of those ‘bads’ following them. Most of those so called bads are just average players who are just like them. And of course they will never admit it…even too themselves!
Having superior numbers is greater than strategy, tactics, or skill most of the time in WvW.
(Yes I know sometimes you win the 2 vs 1 fights with less…those are the ones you tend to remember. Just remember those you did not)
Maybe think about that some more before you encourage people to quit the game…or transfer…or get out of WvW…or insult and tell them they are bad. Instead, try teaching them to be better.
The fact that we have essentially no bandwagoners on Mag and have general consensus to go for Gold league despite knowing we’re outclassed makes me think the ends justified the means in this case.
Yeah Mag is a harsh place to play, but that’s why there are 20+ other servers in NA that ppl can transfer to if they want.
Mag is about a community, not about an individual, and we’d much rather be faced with a 15v40 with 15 people we know we can count on rather than a 30v40 with 15 of the people around us rallying our opponents over and over and over again.

Nobody has said this. We really could care less who it is. Maybe from a PvF this would be true as we know Mag really tries to bring the pain.

Also – keep in mind that rank predictions are based on points accumulated and assume you will keep them all week.
SBI had a huge reset night, when we had constant 200 PPT and often 300. The prediction system put us on rank 5, assuming we’ll keep it like this – but everyone knew it was not going to happen.
As soon as we dropped to a more stable and reasonable 100 ppt – we started losing projected rank. It was an artefact not a failure – we are still improving ourselves and our rank regardless of the trend. No tanking was involved.
And yes, Maguma (that I love to hate – a unlikable server that has managed to keep it’s identity over one year at least) deserves gold more than us and will do better there probably then SBI could. Then, in seven weeks, we will probably be in gold too – we’ll see what happens then.
Looks like we might have lucked out and snuck into Silver League.

This is just from the last few pages of our match-up thread and the end of the gold-league thread from the general wvw forums, and this hasn’t even included the PMs our commanders have been getting in-game from other servers encouraging them to push as hard as possible this week to dislodge SBI out of 6. I can’t comment on the specifics of those but if they’re reading this thread and want to then I’d encourage it.
SBI’s community is horribly fragmented right now. I don’t envy your situation as a server, but I don’t pity you either. You created this mess by encouraging such a huge bandwagon.

Because Mag doesn’t think seal-clubbing is the pinnacle of WvW. Also, gold is between FA, SoS, SBI and Mag. Most of those combinations do not involve Mag and SBI in the same league.
If SBI does get into gold though, we will get to indulge in the inevitable collapse of the biggest bandwagoning server since Kaineng.

Leagues seem like a bad idea when the outcome is clear to begin with. Guess I kind of long for the original groups of 3 servers that kept the matches closer even if FA,TC and DB seemed to play each other every week for months.

But yeah, CD and FA generally have better players than god-awful SBI so hopefully small man ops will be more entertaining this week.
APS may want to consider transferring to SBI though. Looks like a better fit.

From what I hear, we’re pretty much in the same boat – hoping that we don’t end up in tier 1 (because a) we’d probably get creamed and b) because the queues and server lag will likely make it pretty unenjoyable. Somehow I doubt that A-net will improve their infrastructure enough to actually support the gameplay in tier 1 sufficiently.
All that being said – you guys have been giving us a good run this week. A lot of us feel that we’ve been able to best you folks in the open field/combat – but I guess the point-score speaks for itself….
Are you sure you play on mag?
Maguuma is 1000x better when they are being serious and not running their mouths on the forums. Once you get past wild boasts and the obligatory “if we had night coverage”, they are pretty neat folks.

So, MAG, I have a question for you. Why do you bother to capture and defend things if you don’t care about PPT? Why not just run around and fight zergs, and individual players, if that is what you care about?
Just wondering, cause most of the posts on here are anti PPT, but yet you do love to Capture stuff, even when it isn’t defended at all.
That’s what a disproportionate number of us actually do on Mag most of the time.

I mean we already know most people on SBI don’t really have any loyalty to the server, and SBI as a community obviously doesn’t really care either. They’ve been trying for months to recall clans that originally bandwagoned off to other servers during SBI’s first major exodus. Talk about whoring yourself out for short-term PPT.
Now SBI has a bunch of clans that can’t come close to pulling their weight and are hitting a brick wall of skill in the form of FA and Mag despite their superior numbers. They’ll jump ship soon enough.
Biggest difference between Mag and SBI: If a clan leaves Mag to bandwagon onto another server we’ll tell them to stay the hell off Mag. If a clan leave SBI to bandwagon onto another server, they’ll pay for your transfer back.
A classic display of projection accompanied with false assumptions, wishful thinking, and desperate prognostication.
Too bad I can just link explicit examples of the begging I mentioned above:
SBI needs you more than ever. You have been abroad, learning new and better ways to fight. It is time to return home. Bring that experience you have and bring our server to it’s former glory.

Apparently some SBI clans are saying people are transferring off the server already because of a “difficult” match this week. Really? Transferring off because the match is TOO balanced for you?

I didn’t believe it either until I messaged someone I had dueled the day earlier to see if he wanted to duel at the windmill again and he said he couldn’t since his clan had moved to NSP to be at the top of bronze. Sure enough he was on NSP.
