Ya the War Banner thing is iffy but then you compare it to our competition and you’ll use every tool you can get.
Spirit rangers body blocking, Poison is bugged so people are bringing 2+ spirit rangers and stacking them for 1500 healing per second to a team.
Guardians using their blind bug (but apparently thats fixed now).
For the longest time guardians used a Block Bug and could survive against basically everything.
4 seconds of Swiftness i can spam is of little consequence lol
Yes, sadly bugs and cheese groups killed alot of competitive players interest in spvp. I would like to see stuff like that quickly patched, even the warrior one which I totally agree is not doomsday.
Ultimately, Its an abuse of mechanics that skews balancing ( I am talking big picture, not knocking you at all). To truly be an esport the refs/gms/devs have to be very reactive on fixes and balance, otherwise it forces everyone to play dirty or leave.
The fact they followed through on warrior clean up from last patch is huge, I just wish they would have talked to us a bit more and clued us in they were looking/adjusting etc.
In any event, kinda got derailed a bit, great video, thanks for posting it.
Cant wait for patch! I have about 4 sets of armour for wvw, I have a feeling I will be trying a new one before night is over + 500 builds :P
What is the uppercut skill from rampage, do rampage have 6 skills?
one of those must be a chain ability maybe..
This patch might give us an option other than trying to run around in a wet noodle high hp build and doing some stuns b4 running away again.
Melandru nerf frees up rune choice again :p
I hope the animation cleanup is actually that. IF so with other stuff, its gonna be game on!
I don’t understand why they did not give us a lil heads up though? People were frustrated, a simple, “we hear you guys, and are refining and fixing items” would have been huge.
Nice video.
I am having trouble coming to grips with playing a low crit buildI am guessing you are running something close to
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQRApe8ZjcO1wxQqQ4wBEkCN8LOFGP1j5APiDA-TwAA1CnIMSZkzIjRSjsGNQYRwmgJBAYou are playing the cc which makes sense, it seems like the low crit would hurt burst.
Are you counting on fury from group? (not saying its wrong, just wondering)Unsuspecting Foe
I only burst under 2 scenarios:
1) I have a full duration Skull Crack (so I need to keep track of stun breaks, stuns give +50% crit chance) -> Swap to sword, auto attack 3x -> Final thrust -> Tremor -> Auto Attack x2-> Swap weapons -> Shield Stun -> Auto Attack x2 -> Skull Crack -> Auto Attack -> Daze.
By myself this can bring someone down to about 30% hp, with a team its a sure kill.2) We’re cleaving on a body and SPIRITS needs more Bleeds so he can Epi their whole team as they res.
Ah ok, i was thinking you had furious speed to get sprint. Canceling on warbanner really does not seem legit, I really doubt it was intended to be used that way.
Surprised on the devs response, I am sure we are gonna see it slip into a patch at some point
Nice video.

I forgot to mention combos with sword & horn, my 2 favorite being stealth and retaliation.
Its funny when people ask when did warrior get stealth? lol, duration is a lil low but its still fun.
Guardian symbols are all over for retaliation, I use those every chance I get.
I played with your build this afternoon with the same changes Sagramor is talking about. (not exactly the same build because i don’t have full zerk armor right now)
Indeed warhorn is very nice, but I had a hard time using the sword. I’m not pro at all but the 2nd skill misses a lot even when in range and 3rd isn’t always easy to land.
How do you use it? Right after Earthshaker?
2 in lag can be an issue. Turn off shadows and other fluff can help alot.
3 is classic arenanet npc pve style animation. Right after they dodge and you are closing on them can be hard for people to spot. This morning I got a thief who hadjsut stealthed, I counted 1, 2 and started it where I thought he would come in at and got him for 9k. Ya it can be a pain to land, its best when they are focused on something else or out of escapes.
Alot of time I close in with sword and go to hammer. I like hammer to be the suprise, let everyone dodge around a bit debuff them with weakness, swap to hammer and chain cc, if still alive back to sword 2 then 3 on sword often lands nicely (esp with the root on 2).
I use roots and stuns to setup rogues on team to destroy people. Sword F1 on a called target and 3 thieves on the dude… 100 to 0 life in a blink.
The more I think about it bola would be good in the mix. esp in a heavy thief team
(edited by dooger.2640)
Shouldn’t you have enough swiftness between Traited Warhorn and SoR to drop Warrior’s Sprint for Sigil Mastery? Especially since you you are running 3 Sigils.
Also have you looked at swapping life steal food for -cond duration on self food (nice synegry with Melandru and Dogged March), and Mending to Healing Surge?
I dont like dropping warriors sprint due to boon stripping, too many necros and mesmers in wvw. I did run it that way for a while, but went back to warriors sprint
I was running lemongrass, but conditions were coming off with mending, horn + melandru and dogged march. the extra heals and crit chance were giving me more bang for the buck.
I have been running in groups that burn stuff down pretty fast so that can certainly skew results. I for sure keep big stacks of – condition, – cond + -stun, omn berry pies, and crit/crit damage food on hand.
I am constantly swapping the build to longbow + sword horn then back to hammer sword horn. might signet to endure pain.
I was think of sneaking in axe/mace over hammer once in a bit. man i love swapping to axe for monster eviscerates, once in a bit. You know those fights where some turtle run away thief is dancing around… thats what I like about warrior. Here comes the boom.
Fun
(edited by dooger.2640)
warrior feels a bit weak in spvp still. there are a few gimick builds that do ok vs bads (skull cracker variants), and some of the longbow builds work ok.
In general you want to be an add on a fight and not a defender. You catch a guy worried about a thief and hop on him like an atomic bomb and its all good.
The build I linked is sooo much stronger defensively its not even remotely close.
- traited warhorn
- constant vigor + energy off hand sigil = tons of dodging
- ability to disengage and reheal (root and run, leap over stuff and run, swiftness)
- controlled condition and impairment removal (plus boon conversion)
- Blowing people up puts them on defensive, not you (11k final thrust)
- 2 on demand stability buttons
Both builds have melandru, hammer cc, and ok AC/hp
traited warhorn is probably the warrior’s strongest defensive option. The mobility, controlled condition and impairment removal, and the boon conversion are all great.
Vulnerability to protection is a huge swing in survivability. Warhorn owns cleansing ire by a mile.
mace/shield + unsuspecting foe build variants worked pretty good for about a week. Skilled players kite and watch for thakittens just too gimicky and works great for killing nubs and then you are limping around after good players.
If you want more beef for large scale zerg fighting switch the armour to knights. and signet of might to endure pain.
Trying to go “iron man” results in a build thats a super weak low dps guardian. Mobile bursty + cc, gives us a niche, and roots help lock down targets for thieves to assist on + and warhorn is great group support.
I ran into a warrior with a build close the skull cracker variant, he got to about 30% life and hit shield block, I hit unblockable button and final thrust him into dirt. He played well, but the mobility and lack of vigor was very noticable
He just did not have enough burst/dodges, and man I knew how he felt having lived that build one day too many.
(edited by dooger.2640)
Oh its fun once in a blue moon to go full glass and snipe people with either axe or rifle.
Down side first thief within 900 feet instantly kills you.
After the patch, I did not like my old hammer build as it lost too much punch.
So a switched around gear sets and went full zerker with melandru runes. With the CC and warhorn cleaning/buffing its finally the right combination of punch and survival.
Small group wvw roaming beat down build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNBiYDbE0JGO3x4hJOggUohch6xcshxRShYwGA-jUyAYLioZiCEZBg+An8KiGbZsIas6aMlLRUtBvIa1CBUeMA-w
Its easy to swap 3 traits and swap hammer for longbow on tower D and such.
If I am running in zerg busting group I swap in knights armour or weapons as needed.
Good survivablity and escape + solid punch: 6k hammer F1s ,11k final thrusts. Traited warhorn is pretty amazing, the obvious down side is the garbage tree its in.
with 4 thieves in group today roots = gibbed bad guys, esp followed by hammer stuns
Fun
I was not gonna give in, but I finally did.
Went back to my guardian this week for a bit for spvp, its alot more fun to tweak your build to suit your playstyle vs desperate gimick builds and sad attempts to barely stay alive.
Too many points need to fix adrenaline generation and movement or movement impairments. Might as well make warrior perma rooted and have to spec to be able to walk. Too many abilities not usable without specing to make them marginally ok.
But, ya its good they are being careful not too make warrior op. I mean man, ya never know, probably time to remove eviscerate and 100b and get it over with.
good stuff, and no fairy wand so its all good.
Could be interesting, F2-4 for stances…
Could be too much like wow warrior, but would not be too hard to retain gw flavor.
worth considering for sure.
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it a million times more – Warriors would be a perfectly viable class if AoE was toned down in PvP/WvW. Buffing us will simply add more power creep to the game.
Lol, obviously all balance is relative, and yes if other class were not as powerful then warriors would not be so weak.
I was running in an all thief + me group today, one of the thiefs had only 11k hps and i kept waiting to see them pop instantly, but they did fine. Big hp pool does not do alot of good in a game with no healers, no diminishing returns on cc and tons of dots/aoe.
Its time. It would be great to even hear a plan, anything from devs…
mace was great last week, when it was a surprise to people.
finding new ways to catch people off guard and 100b has run its course, i wish we had devs that got involved.
Anything thats got you standing still and channeling is rough in coordinated game play, esp in a game with no concept of diminishing returns on cc.
Fear spam alone makes stability becoming a required part of setting up the “one attack.” Been going back through the discard pile of hammer/longbow and sword, and axe builds
We will more likely get colors updated on banners.
After the massive color balancing, they will watch meta settle for 3 months before trying any other warrior adjustments.
Indeed a very nice idea. Would help make bunker warriors viable.
Sadly the devs are going to let the meta settle for 3-6 months, then talk about maybe patching in a few months.
Swords make for good videos of you running away, or killing horrid players.
people laugh at heart seeker span for a reason, and yet it powns the warriro double sword..
15 second cooldown on a super slow telegraphing animation on 3? rogue laughs while holding down 2 for a 900 range, no cooldown, no herky jerky animation, and gets stronger every hit attack.
8k, 4k, 5k, 5k, 5k, while you are hoping to do a little dot damage with 4?.. no i dont think so.
Gotta spam massive cc or massive damage to compete. necros doing more dot damage and spamming fear.
dual sword is a joke, shield or mace offhand gives a little cc so you have a tool that can be used to break up the massive onslaught better designed classes will unload on you.
We have to outplay our opponents cc and burst are musts, dots take too long to get good results vs good players.
(edited by dooger.2640)
Go to 26:15 for build
You are half squirrel half man!
I get tired of all the kiting, in spvp I ran into some necros running builds that are tanky, do more condition damage and have so much fear. Basically a much better all around choice than a condition warrior.
I always want 3 weapons to swap not 2.. :/
We must have sword or great sword for mobility, I want a mace for fighting / cc and a ranged weapon for anti kite. ah well
But ya in any event condition warrior is anything but Op, or fotm at this point, hehe.
(edited by dooger.2640)
Out of boredom, I tried a toughness/condition build in spvp, that I would normally dismiss as garbage and not even look at.
Basically like Detekitves, but went for moderate condition + toughness.
To my surprise it worked better than I thought it would, so a played around with it a bit longer than I had planned at lunch (just hot join)
Anyhow, I was about to log, when I got an angry tell from an engineer saying i was running an “OP fotm warrior build”.. I laughed my kitten off. I think it had more to do with him not figuring out he was rooted for 4 seconds, but it was still funny.
In any event, it was a good laugh playing it:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNAseTjgOxwtQGPMxBEkCNsKOPSipg8UKsjNE-TsAg0CpIaS1krJTTymsNNoYZxMEA
I had a rabid amulet at first but then i hit too much like a girl so i went hybrid zerk/rabid amulet.
imho, the 5 button total on weapons is not enough for designing good weapons.
In any event, when i use axe its usually as a surprise, I have another weapon out, then if someone gets low I swap and eviscerate.
At this point sword mobility or hammer/mace cc is hard to pass up. Eviserate damage on axe is probably about right, but I would like to see its range back a lil longer.
(edited by dooger.2640)
warrior got 25% run speed with melee weapon trait and a trait to reduce movement impairment conditions duration 33%.
At launch there were tons of classes specing to run away. As the game progressed they got better builds so they had other options to be defensive. Warrior really only has going in and out of combat to achieve some level of sustain. In tanky gear thief cloak and dagger hits for 5k, backstab 8k, and heartseaker spam 3-5k. Obviously we cant take that kind of god mode beat down standing still.
We gotta try to cc/block/dodge at each pass the thief comes in to try to gib us, then unload one of our telegraphed attacks that dont automatically close the gap for us (weapons that dont telegraph are obviously popular ie mace over hammer, longbow or rifle, etc)
next up BB gun beats out m16!
I prefer 0 30 20 0 20, it generates adrenile waaaay waaay faster, esp if you swap in longbow (each F1 on a keep defense refills adrenaline bar to full on its own)
I can never find one weapon set thats good for all situations. Top rogue players are very very hard to ever land gs abilities on (oh man its nice when ya predict whirlwind on one though), sometimes I prefer s/shield + longbow on them
I guess the thing that rocks on 0 30 20 0 20 I can switch weapons/armour and traits to move between m/s + gs to s/shield + longbow to total glass sniper rifle + x on the fly.
So many mace users at this point, players are adjusting and its lost some of its total pownage. I guess in any event the issue with warrior has never been how do I beat 80% of the scrubs rolling around in wvw, its being competitive vs top rogue/ele/guardian players. Warrior is close but still not quiet there.
Its a bit of a one trick pony, but its a good trick. Like any warrior weapon combo it works better vs certain build types.
Mists is fully of warriors running mace/gs and necros these days. I could have used 15 stability buttons this morning. Daze fear, stun fear, more walls of fear crap, stun.
I may start running 2 sets of stability for these insane cc mixes.
Mace, run speed +52% and shorter heal cds are certainly the good parts of the patch
1 thing that people are forgetting, some warriors animations and “moves are crazy SLOW, with long cast times” but that’s because if they land it, it hurts a lot more than any other class.
People are forgetting that warriors are the DPS kings of the game. people complain alot about the cast time of 100B or that it roots you to the ground, but they seem to forget how much damage this skill does.
Other skill is i hear people complaining alot is “Final trust” but people who complain is hard to land, also forget to mention that if they land it on anyone under 50% its a 1 shot skill with the same damage as Eviscerate.
The biggest problem with warriors, is not the class itself but the players on it.. they wanna be DPS beast like they are on PvE, expecting to go glass cannon and own. players just need to learn to spec better, warriors now have good condi clears, and easy acess to stability and CC, which is a direct counter to most meta builds. but people rather not spend those 20 points on Defense and then come on forums and QQ about how much warriors suck on PvP
Its amazing how the “toot my own horn” crowd comes out to troll as well.
Yes, good players can do well playing a warrior, but then again they would do even better on another class is reality.
given equal player skills, the warrior needs help currently is issue. Right now its kind of a kick given how kittene has to work to get average to good results, but its also pretty easy to realize not everyone wants that kinda play.
I had to find the build, his is similar but different point spread and gearing (0 20 20 0 30)
I am running 0 30 20 0 20, I like hoelbrak over ogre runes and knights over valkery/zerker combo. I keep up tons of might stacks and fury/vigor its a beastly combo.
I love 30 pt arms adren generation, esp in cases where i have switched to longbow. I go back full adrenaline in seconds.
Fun stuff, I am seeing tons of people moving to maces, its not a huge secret to active players, just tossing it into the fray for people to enjoy.
I just gotta a giant puppy, so gotta play with him before he eats my deck (he is chewing on a tree!!! atm..), but I will give the other point spread a run, some good ideas there too.
@Copenhagen: It would be better for your blood pressure to just ignore folks like these. Warrior might not be in as good of a place as it could be right now, but Warriors could become imbalanced terrors of the tPvP scene, and some of these folks would still be talking about how unviable they are. Then they’ll talk about how the game is dead (still) and everyone is (still) leaving.
Nothing new to see here, grousers gonna grouse.
Also, watching people not dodge anything ever in that video makes me laugh.
All cop outs. Yes, I do agree there will always be someone complaining, and if you went too far buffing any class (not just warrior) they would be OP.
I like they toned down burst a bit, and i like several of the changes. It does not change the fact that warriors still really cant take a punch well.
It does not take 6 months of testing this to provide feedback & updated plan.
Hell maybe they will even make tab targeting not select every pet on the map first before players. Maybe they will get warriors inline.. OR maybe they are focused on pve patches every 2 weeks and are done worrying about pvp. I dont know, but love to hear.
Also I’’m not sure what some of you guys are on about. The devs communicate with us rather well, and the game is more balanced than it has been in the past. Maybe i’m just a fan boi, but I enjoy the game, and I think it has evolved nicely since beta. You can’t expect dramatic changes with the snap of a finger.
So what do you do in your employment at arenanet?
No the devs don’t communicate with us well, its called not at all, zero zip.
Dramatic changes at a snap of the fingers? the video is over a year old. Will it take 4-5 years to give the warrior on par survivability? 7-8? 100? we dont know as we have heard zero, zip, nothing post patch.
I swing my sword (and wait for the broken animation), I swing my sword again (and wait for the broken animation), guess what? thats not fun.
I like the game despite its faults, if they fix the bad game play I might even be able to get my guild to come back. Something is wrong when highend hardcore pvp/rvr guilds just laugh and leave.
Perhaps you’ve been living under a rock so I will enlighten you. Every month we get a video stream hosted by a community member named Grouch. It’s called “State of the Game” which features at least 1 dev. They answer all types of questions, probably even some questions that you would like answered. I’ve only played a hand full of MMOs and some other games, but I have never seen developers actually communicate with the community as well as Arena Net does. Maybe what they talk about is not what you want to hear, but it’s communication nonetheless. They also let us know that they see our suggestions and complaints on the forums, and care about what we have to say. They just recently announced their team will be working on content patches with turn around times of 2 weeks. What am I missing here?
I’m aware that video is over a year old. There have been many patches and balance changes since this video. Yes it has it taken some time to get Warrior into a competitive place, but Warrior is in a very good spot now. I’m confident we will see real viability shortly. They know our #1 problem is sustainability. In the last State of the Game they mentioned some ways they will help u with this issue.
I don’t know which high-end PvP guilds are laughing and leaving the game. You might not know this, but the community plays almost equally important part as the developers do in growing and maintaining a strong community. These high-end players sound very low-class. Yes there are bugs in the game, and some quirks during combat, but I have faith they’ll be ironed out. Nothing worth throwing a fit over.
Lol this is pretty funny, I was going to respond with a long explanation of things, but it’s clear you don’t have any idea of how the warrior class performs in Any type of pvp or WvW, with all the teleport, evasion, blind, and condie spam.
Did you watch the last state of the game? Please enlighten me on what communication you saw about the warrior. I saw devs tryi g to completely ignore the class as they were embarassed, and move on.
Warrior in a good spot eh? To look at a 15 page thread in the SPVP forums called class rank list. You will see the warrior at THE BOTTOM for every post for the last 8 months. It’s embarrassing what this profession has become. You would think the devs would at least bump us up Into viable tier BY ACCIDENT.
This profession as of now feels like it doesn’t even belong in this game, with the long slow telegraphed attacks, and the terrible pathing on our gap closers, that completely miss 80% of the time.
What’s clear is you, Lighter, and Dooger are just flat out whiners who have no desire to improve on their own, and they would rather join the circle – jerk. What game type do you play? I looked up the 3 of you on the leader boards to see if any of you played tpvp, but I found nothing. Hoelbrak runes, Cleansing Ire, Signet of Stamina, and Berserker Stance are all great ways to deal with the condition meta. Contrary to what you may believe, Warrior does have condition removal. If you’re not using Longbow with Cleansing Ire, you should reconsider. If you’re still using Bulls Charge + Frenzy + 100b, then yes, it will miss 80% of the time. Running full offensive build relying on that one maneuver is going to get you no where. There are some players that have builds around here that do work, and they can be personalized to work even better for YOU.
Spvp lol, pure garbage, it already failed, amazing they even bother leaving it in the game.
love it when a nub who just learned about hoelbrak runes shows up and runs his mouth on the builds nubs just started running. been running hoelbrak for months, glad you are catching up.
no mobility or no mobility?
One of you weapons needs to be sword or greatsword unless you like dying.
axe offhand is pathetic..
You can pair up hammer with it, it a bit clunky but can be awesome if used at right time
This build beats pretty much everything else I have tried, I played around briefly in some hot join too.
Obviously no warrior picks 2 weapon sets and never swaps, you need longbow/rifle, and some weapons to get your 25 bloodlust stacks, warhorn for travel, etc etc.
I use sword/x over gs in areas where jumping over a hole = insta escape
But in general I get tons of lasting might stacks, hit hard with the ability to control fights, and with fairly good survivablity. I get lots of endurance with vigor and energy sigil for dodging.
Obviously still way below many classes sustain, so you will have to go in and out of combat in some cases.
In any event, this build can play well roaming, and in groups. After slaying a few god classes, I figured it earned an over the top name :P
(edited by dooger.2640)
Anyone who thinks wars wont broken back then didn’t play Beta. Warrior burst line provided 1% extra damage on burst, Eviscerate did more damage than it did now, + there were other sigils and traits that boosted wars damage much more. Old divinity runes ect ect. Yes they overnerfed warriors but don’t claim something didn’t exist. It’s like claiming ranger GS damage was fine back then basing on how it is currently.
It didn’t exist. Old divinity runes weren’t nerfed because of Warrior, they were nerfed because EVERYONE used them and there was no question what runes were best in sPvP. Warrior was fine in beta, and I did in fact play in the beta. I played Warrior, Guardian, Thief, Ranger, and Elementalist during beta weekends, and spent a lot of time in sPvP. The only people who thought Warriors were overpowered were the horde of players specializing pure glass cannon who didn’t know how to dodge. Sure, if dodge didn’t exist and everyone was specialized glass cannon, Warriors would have been overpowered. Warrior was nerfed because of bad players whining in beta events. That is all there is to it.
You are delusional to think warrior damage was fine back then. I dare you pull off this kind of damage now while using points in the defense line like in this video. No divinity runes werent nerfed due to wars but it was just another thing that added to warriors damage. Crit damage on amulets were also higher. You could pick any trait you wanted with just 10 points into a line also. The incarnation of the warrior in beta with the old mechanics was OP plain and simple. Its a different and more balanced game now.
Warrior spike damage was too high in beta, and was too high in highly certain situations b4 June 24 th patch.
I gotta 21.5k Rifile crit in wvw before the June patch, yes its in glass gear and requires every buff and debuff be perfect on a glass target. Its still too high of a burst.
It does not change the fact Warriors could not take a hit back then, and still really cant today. 1 year is too long, sorry no more excuses from fanbois.
Again zero communication from devs, I am sure they are talking about new garbage pve being dropped every 2 weeks now.
Whats the plan for class balance? lets hear it from Arenanet and not one of the shills
(edited by dooger.2640)
Evis is insane in glass setup, but we cant really run glass for pvp.
At this point mace main hand is better all around over axe main hand. (for pvp)
edit: I brain farted on op mentioning pve. I got over excited on redicovering my mace this week.

Looking at the formula for doing damage you see a ratio of your ac vs attackers power.
If the formulas people have reverse engineered are correct that would mean higher ac would provide benefits vs high atk powered foes.
high ac also helps offset Vulnerability condition.
But I totally agree, personally i shoot for 2800 and try to get better baang for the buck defense
I think if they fixed the animations and made blademaster reduce sword cooldowns it would be at a better baseline
Warrior and rangers are the baseline classes. If your class can kill them, it is balanced. If it can’t, that class needs a buff.
By that standard no class would need to get any more buffs.
Ever.
By this standard every class would need a buff. Learn to play, as terrible as it sounds.
All classes in every game need work, most software can use tuning. Generalizing excuses to make poor effort OK is part of today’s education system, but after a year of no progress its time to both start making progress and talking to community.
And that’s without taking into consideration that because of these changes, leg specialist doesn’t work so well anymore with Greatsword, Hammer and Rifle (traited).
The only one of the three that I see affected, not counting weapon swapping, is Greatsword. After all, the ICD on Leg Specialist is 5s, whereas Hammer Shock is 10/12s and Aimed Shot is 8/10s.
Warriors swap weapons, a common build with leg specialist was hammer + sword/x
Jump root => swap Aoe snare then whatever.
It really helped us catching squirrel builds, its a cc nerf we did not need
Nah should read, “We noticed most warriors have rerolled or are playing other games, so we are dropping them from defect tracking”
how about we have an in game summit, see if we can get devs to wake up
vitality being of whack for points spent compared to anything else in game.
Hmmm. Got me thinking on a new warrior trait…
50% of your Vitality is used in place of the sources Healing Power when receiving a heal.
Ya there are all kinds of good ways to get Vitality up to snuff, I would like to see minor traits in the tree do useful stuff like -10 to 20% condition duration.
Right now putting points into tactic tree is pretty crippling, on top of vitality really under performing to give warriors “a sturdy body”.
Eles, thieves, guardians and mesmers all have the tools to do melee pushes, warrior really can only do it with guardian giving protection and going in with zerg and avoiding being targeted.
It blew me away that rogue got pulls and not warrior, typically you would think rogue would be a tad higher dps, but warrior had more survival and utility (protecting group, pulls, etc)
I am at a loss to see their vision beyond their original idea of giving us burst mechanics, then not wanting us to burst or do anything else. soldier runes and warhorn is underwhelming for team benfits.
At launch the devs told us,“I swing sword, I swing my sword again. thats not fun” they should have said, “I swing my sword and wait for its animation, I swing my sword and wait for its animation. This is not fun”
They got the not fun part right

hey guys, I mess around on my warrior somtimes and enjoy playing as bursty as possible with low survivability (mostly pve as im a horrendous pvp warrior).
im full beserker at the moment running 10/30/0/0/30 and enjoying it.
is there a trick im missing regarding high dmg? my kill shots hit on lvl 80 mobs at about 10k and my #3 skill hits around 6-7k.
any tips to hit bigger numbers?
maybe taking “on my mark” for extra vulnerability?
Thats the same point spread pref june nerfs that I got a 21.5k crit on a mesmer (yes this needed nerf)
Monster crits are a very rare event that require a ton of things:
- Target needs to be glass
- Target needs vulnerability stacked up on it
- Target needs to be bleeding
- Target cant have protection
- Target should have lots of fluff buffs to boost destruction of empowered
- You need max might stacks
- You need signet of might
- You need 25 stacks of bloodlust
- you need best sharpening stone for more + power
- You need food thats got +crit damage (sweet n spicy butternut soup)
- You should have runes that provide power/critdamage and all zerker + ascended zerker
You will not hit 21k anymore, but you should be able to get some biggies still if everything perfect.
If you have less than 105% crit damage and 4k atk dont expect monster crits

It hits for 2k-3k non crt and 5k-6k crt its an amazing skill and it should be hard to land because of the damage it does thats called balance. Just do a cc before you use it or predict were the enemy is going to be. Personally I love Final thrust its so good
No thats not balance when other classes have abilities that hit for 5k that are trival to land, are spammable and gap closers all in one.
Warrriors getting one side balance and no big picture plan is one of the core issues.
Was thinking back to this video in beta, (when warriors were OP), that made the red faced developers spend their time crippling the warrior, and not spending proper time looking at big picture and balancing the class to be both be fun and play properly.
The developers got so embarrassed on the eve of launch, (after they made so much talk on how good they are at balance and how they know how games are fun) they have never truely recovered. You can hear the fear when they talking about fixing the classes, you cant hear anything without a “we don’t want warrior to become over powered”.
So we end up with “fixes” that include more slow animations, new abilities that don’t work well in actual game play, and no addressing issues of herky zerky abilities, animations, bad trees, banners or working on vitality being of whack for points spent compared to anything else in game.
Thieves are slowly heading to where we abandoned. Both classes needed nerfs on the big spike damage on launch, its where you get left for months and months after that sucks.
With no communication or plan OVER a year later, we know the core devs are either working on a xpack instead or don’t have the required design skill set to sit down and fix stuff.
Merge the thief dev with the warrior dev.
With in a week sword 2 would have no cooldown, and hit for 3-5k and have 900 range.
No there is more to say:
- Herky jerky movement abilities that are ultra lag sensitive is an issue
- Herky jerky slow telegraphing animations are for npcs not pvpers
- Vitality is too weak defensively compared to the rate god classes can tear through it, they are designed to fight other high evasion/god classes
- Developers not talking to community is even worse than the design failures
- Other classes Are able to get both sustain + retain solid dps or cc that can be fairly reliably delivered on targets
I dunno, its probably time for a warrior summit in the mists or something, maybe we can get devs to come talk to us there. I know they have showed up shortly after launch and were talking to us there.
Sword F1 is the most annoying F1 to land, continuing the meh train.
I just love fighting a good thief with this garbage.. heck even hs spam owns sword
