Showing these people that they can just spend some minor time in PvE and get a upgrade is a good thing.

We shouldn’t be forced to do any PvE to acquire max stats.

There should be a standing rule at Arenanet that everything that they add to PvE should be added to the vendor in WvW for a price.

Resistance Nerf

Imagine if Protection offered 100% immunity to direct damage? This is basically what Resistance is doing.

Aegis offers 100% immunity but is cleared after 1 hit.

Resistance is akin to an aegis that the attacker can’t clear with boon strip/corruption.

I suggest 3 solutions:

  • Model resistance on protection – make it -33% condi damage.
  • Merge resistance and protection – change Protection to offer -33% condi damage, modify all resistance-based skills to have protection instead – this is a nicer solution as it offers something in return for the nerf (a buff to direct damage reduction is received in return for the nerf to condition damage reduction).
  • Model resistance on aegis – resistance clears after condition(s) are is applied.

How is this helping balance ?

The problem is long term vs short term balance.

Long term DB wouldn’t do as good as they are now without their IoJ linking.

Short term DB is killing it because they have strong guilds (like ND) sitting on IoJ so they can play on T1.

Long term DB being open is good for T1 balance (because they’ll lose strong SEA IoJ guilds on the next relink).

Short term it is bad because IoJ remains linked.

Unless you increase the speed at which you adjust server linking matchups then you can’t do much about this. You don’t want to block people transferring to a weak server just because they’re in a winning match up.

The Dagger #2 now feels more smooth. If we had a good ranged Power weapon instead of useless concept of Greatsword or Axe reworked to fill that niche, Power Reaper wouldn’t be that terrible.

Good change on Life Blast. Imo, they should rework more DS skills to be better at longer ranges – Dark Path teleport part of the it being a flip-over skill maybe?

Dark Path should be ground targeted to give necro a bit more mobility. I can’t really go back to necro now I have a RS2 on the reaper.

The other side is that condi builds aren’t worth you-know-what in blobbing/zerging and need a buff.

I try to run a condi build in a blob every few months and go “oh yeah, i remember, condi damage just doesn’t work”.

Oh condi builds work. But you pretty much have to be a necromancer. Throw down wells and marks, profit as there are so many necros doing it in your blob that your damage WILL go through. Not even a Revenant using Pain Absorption (the counter to condi-anything) can counter that many wells and marks, especially if you corrupt/strip the Resistance off people.

Yeh, I was playing condi necro/reaper with wells and regularly had about 2400 condition damage. The groups we fought ran boonshare and had resistance up all the time. It’s nowhere near as effective as power builds when playing someone good.

Playing against pugs zergs with 30 players it works great. Playing against an organised guild with a full map queue (20 guildies+30 pugs) it doesn’t work at all because of the resistance, condi clearing and optimised party setup.

I have played both extensively and power is definitely doing more damage.

Camp Swords Sooner

Quite often I will pop onto a borderland to take our spawn camp and there are 5 roamers defending the map that all run to the camp as soon as it gets swords.

The only chance I have to take it is to burn the camp as fast as possible and get it capped before they can run to me. I imagine making swords pop earlier or adding the red dots radar concept would make it much harder to take camps.

The successful defenders will zone themselves around two camps and a tower rather than rely on automated notifications like white swords.

There has to balance between defending and attacking – as sometimes defenders will outnumber attackers (my case) and other times attackers will outnumber defenders.

How about no white swords when someone has the outnumbered buff on them?

This game is boring 90% of the time because the enemy plays 2 ways: sit inside a structure and spam siege, or wait until off-hours to ktrain 10 players.

WvW Buffs

1. Buff pulls – Given reaper/necro can’t chase that well, I would like to see us given better “come back here” powers.

I would like to see Spectral Grasp strip the stability boon before the pull. So it is almost a guaranteed pull if they don’t evade/invuln it. 1500 range also – then there would be some counterplay to every class that just disengages from us at will in WvW.

3. Buff Boon corruption – the boonshare meta in WvW is really lame and we need counterplay for it. Well Of Corruption should be buffed to counter boonshare. Given that players are smart enough not to stand in wells now, I think 2 boons per pulse would be a nice buff. Additionally, given players are smart enough not to stand in wells now. I think the Well Of Suffering should pulse for double the damage but for half the time, so we have a faster spike damage.

4. Buff power necros for sPvP – these changes below would also improve power wellomancers for sPvP which I understand isn’t a very popular build at the moment.

New skill descriptions:

So I think you are asking should you play a Power (direct damage) or a Condi (damage over time) build.

It depends on what game mode you are a playing. Is it sPvP, WvW roaming, WvW blobbing/zerging, WvW havoc group, raids, dungeons, fractals, open world PvE etc?

Tell us more about what game modes (and sub modes) you are playing.

Try running a spell checker over your English next time as just fixing up spelling mistakes would make it far more readable.

Howler needs some work while you’re at it.

I would say it has to be the worst terrestrial legendary weapon in the game.

I see Sunrise/Twilight owners running around leaving behind 30 metre long trail of puddles with a galaxy texture floating in it. While my Howler leaves behind a 3 metre puffs of steam and a pixelated/blocky mist trail/aura.

I would like to see:

- Double size and duration of the wolf howl animation (keep sound the same)
- Increase the number footsteps that trail on Howler to match those of Sunrise/Twilight/Kudzu/etc
- Make mist aura “smoother” or replace it with something else (or delete it)
- Make the steam footprint texture better (or use a new texture and no steam – maybe something like a shiny mirror/metal/silver wolf footprints? or use the sploshy/water texture/animation that you get when you first draw your weapon)

Team Deathmatch event (possibly replace ruins with this event)

Simple setup and activation: Three large capture circles: Red, green and blue.

Minimum number of players to capture a circle: 15
Minimum number of circles to activate the event: 2

In order to trigger the Team Deathmatch event your server must capture its circle.

You must have 10 players from the red server inside the red circle and hold the circle for 30 seconds.

This allows enough time for the other blobs to enter their circles and for your players to organise themselves.

When 2 or 3 circles are fully capped the event starts.

At the start of this event an impenetrable wall (no entry/no escape) surrounds all the players.

Teams fight to the death.

Wall comes down after victory.

Wall is there stop people running back from their spawn.

Players can’t be ressed at any time (even out of combat).

The last team alive wins 1000 points for their server.

Event is available at all times, servers that choose not to compete in the event while the other two servers play miss out on their chance at making 1000 points.

Siege can’t be deployed in the event zone.

Stealth traps can be deployed (to help stop one thief trolling an entire blob with permastealth).

If that is true, he sold his account. When I was on JQ Cloudfly and he was on TS he had an interpreter that relayed his commands. In map/team chat it was always macros he spammed. He spoke Mandarin Chinese and extremely broken English.

Just before I left prior to Season 2, his play style and communication was changing. This was leading to a lot of people thinking he was sharing his account.

He still speaks Mandarin or Cantonese (?) and broken English. He still spams macros.

I’ve been in WvW since the early days when Cloud was pugmanding and it is definitely the same guy now as it was in the early days.

It’s not unexpected that such someone so popular on JQ would be subject to baseless rumours from other servers or jealous egos that want to bring him down.

If these “people” you talk of have proof of account sharing/selling then post it up otherwise you should probably not spread their baseless rumours any further.

As for his style changing, that is to be expected. People learn/adapt and become better at games and their style changes. My style is significantly different to when I first started WvW.

TL;DR – Post some evidence or stop spreading baseless rumours from these mysterious “people”

Stats for WvW blobbing

Depends on definition of blob, if you mean blobbing as in 40+ players then you should always choose power builds.

A decent blob with organised squad will be clearing condis all the time.

Our boon share group runs with 40 seconds of resistance on engage, making condis effectively useless unless you boon strip.

I’d probably guess something like this:

Very good player: full Zerker (full damage)

Good player: Valkyrie (+soul reaping crit chance trait) or Marauder for high damage and extra vitality buffer

Average player: Cav, Soldier or Knights for some toughness plus some Zerk, Marauder or Valk for damage

Poor player: full Soldier, full Knights (very defensive and generally low damage)

A reaper generally needs more toughness than a Necro because much of their DPS is applied in melee and they are often standing in red circles. So I probably would NOT recommended a full zerker reaper to play in a blob fight. I would say you could go up to 2700 armour on a reaper and have the rest of it be damage stats. A necro you could theoretically run full zerker because you’re not supposed to enter the melee.

2700 may seem high but I play against groups with glassy casters that use boon share and they have 25 stacks of might and perma fury so the damage when they bomb is insane. Boon share is broken IMO.

TL;DR:

- if you’re dying too much swap in survivability – toughness and/or vitality
- if you’re not dying at all, swap in damage – power, precision and crit damage (in balance)
- don’t use any condi stats

I guess I give you a scenario. You’re a roamer, you see 5000 JQ coming to bay and your home BL is dead and you know the ktrain is in EB. You can buy your server those precious few moments to disable, whisper the EB commander for help and give your server time to respond.

My question is why remove the siege disablers?

In your example here you’re using siege disablers to compensate for a larger problem: population imbalance.

If population was balanced properly then siege disablers definitely should be removed as they encourage map hopping and blobbing.

If JQ had 200 players and FA had 200 players then you should be punished for not having a defensive force on your home BL.

However, because JQ has many more players than FA at the moment (during SEA anyway) – the siege disablers make sense. Having said that, JQ players make extensive use of siege disablers so it makes the job of your smaller guilds trying to ninja objectives much more difficult also.

TL;DR – what you really need is a more balanced population.

Are you talking about Cloud Fly? If so, that is false. He definitely plays for extended hours and doesn’t account share – I can hear it is the same person on TS.

I spend a lot of time in WvW in my inventory, keeping my bags clear of blues and greens.

I end up with a 20 sigils leftover from salvaging that I can’t sell off until I get to a merchant, often I just destroy them.

QOL change:

Add a “Sell” tab to Permanent Portable Provisioner merchant.

I am wondering if anyone has heard of servers that use game clients on enemy servers not for spying but to reduce the size of their enemies map blob.

Is it a tactic that some guilds/servers use to reduce their opponent’s blob size versus their own blob?

I had a sneaky suspicion that one server was doing this to us when we were in T1 and wondering if it is common behind-the-scenes behaviour?

This feature would promote bad tactics, ignoring defensive siege and rolling up big blobs be able to heal up.

This is an unneeded micromanagement feature. Please keep the essential WvW mechanics simple and let players focus on fighting instead.

You sort of contradict yourself there. On one hand you argue blobs shouldn’t get the wall down using repair hammers and on the other hand you argue that you want fights.

You can only choose one. Do you want to turtle or do you want to fight?

I guarantee you there won’t be any fight happening if the wall stays up, everyone will stay inside and try to pummel the blob with siege.

Having said all that, I voted no only because I think defenders need some counter play, if they suicide run a treb then I think they deserve not to have that damage instantly repaired. I play on JQ so at the moment I am always on the blobby side (at the moment) and I think repair hammers would be OP.

Best Profession for Roaming in Tier 1 WvW

That is what I consider a win. If someone runs away because they realized they aren’t going to beat me, that is a win. If I downed/killed them, that is a win.

Everyone seems to have their own philosophy when it comes to roaming. Killing your opponent is a win for sure… but failing to deliver the killing blow and letting your opponent escape? I don’t think I could ever consider that a win. Honestly, I would give the win to my opponent because I know exactly how satisfying it is to escape from my opponent(s) and deny them a kill.

To illustrate with an anecdote: I was roaming on my druid the other day and was in the middle of a fight with a dragonhunter. Suddenly a condi scrapper joined the fight and bombed me with conditions. Knowing that condis are my weakness, I immediately stealthed via celestial avatar and disengaged from the fight. Although the DH went off somewhere else, this scrapper continued to run after me, so I tentatively engaged him 1v1 and quickly discovered that I was no match for his condi pressure. So I went off to do better things: taking camps, winning fights without him involved, and ganking him like he nearly did to me. Every time we crossed paths and we were alone, he would give chase, but I would simply avoid him. I could tell he desperately wanted to kill me, and he knew very well that he had the ability to. But I never gave him that chance.

I’d say I was the clear winner that night.

I had a Fort Aspenwood ranger message me and call me names (you know the word for cat starting with p that is censored here) because I ported when he tried to gank me in my zerg build.

Ironically, after telling me I was scared, he then immediately blocked me because he was scared of the words I might reply with.

I denied him a bag and made him rage. I win.

Standing on a wall in WvW

We need to do as much as possible to discourage siege turtling.

We do not need to buff siege turtles.

In some fights we have found YB or FA (can’t remember) had 10+ arrow carts in one paper tower.

We should NOT encourage this siege mentality by buffing it.

Three players should never be able to stop a map blob, it’s as simple as that.

Walls and siege are there to delay the blob, not stop the blob.

The walls gave your reinforcements more than enough time to arrive and show their PvP skills to the JQ map blob.

T1 and T2 linking

How are JQ and FA linked, and YB isn’t.

How is DB linked again in T1?

Have we gotten an explanation on how exactly this is supposed to work yet?

As I understand it, YB are slow playing in T2 to ensure they don’t move back to T1.

Someone on YB whispered me last night to inform me that JQ receives oral favours from FA in return for us focusing YB (we just took YBs Garrison).

We ended up chatting and he noted that many of YBs commanders haven’t been playing and it has been unusually quiet.

So Anet balanced on your previous activity levels. If anything it is better for YB that JQ is linked because it’ll allow your Glicko to drop back to T2 levels which is where you desire to be.

To be honest though, I think Anvil Rock’s population is rather tiny and we barely notice if they are there or not. Our map queue on EB has been anything from 6 to 40 players so even if you unlinked Anvil Rock we’d still have a map queue you have to fight against.

To me, the game in general has too few boon strips of all sorts, and they are ineffective vs boon generation due to boon spam.

In addition, there are too many abilities now which are not considered boons, thus can not be stripped, but should be.

Yes, stealth should be a boon and revealed should be a condition.

Here I’ll make it easy. GK is on FA. Everything else is SoR, since JQ fought them when the game said they were DB.

OK I retract, I am indeed lumping your linked server in with FA when I made those comments.

All I see is “Fort Aspendwood <rank> [ND]” and I can’t tell who is SoR and who isn’t.

I guess if you get enough people on FA then you’ll get linked with weaker servers also.

Right now though WITH your SoR link included you are super blobby during SEA and the server that blob busting guilds would have the most fun fighting AGAINST. This is of course a temporary link just as temporary as transferring to FA you may temporarily get to fight JQ. Did I say temporary enough?

I’m liking FA for the past few months. Outnumbered for the most part versus JQ and YB but doing decent and good community so far.

Put it this way, zerg busting claiming guilds can test their skills here

You must not play in SEA timezone.

FA runs the biggest map blob during SEA with ND, CA and GK all running as one giant 3 headed monster.

I barely ever see YB, they keep their head down. I believe they are not playing this week to ensure they don’t move back to tier 1. I have no idea how big YB is until they come out and play in the next few weeks.

I have never seen FA being outnumbered by YB.

JQ always outnumbers FA when the 3 headed monster isn’t running.

In my opinion, if you want to bust blobs in SEA then JQ is your place – you get double or triple teamed by decent guilds that want fights and we have quite decent pugs.

YB may also be a good option but until I see what their SEA population is I wouldn’t commit to that. You don’t want to be a 15 man guild taking on ND+CA+GK without any pugs, you’ll just get steamrolled.

(Rework) Necromancer Axe

I’d be happy if they added this:

  • Auto attack cleaves on targets near your primary target (max 3) – the same as Ranger’s Ricochet auto attack but without the bouncing animation/delays – just immediate hits.
  • Unholy Feast – add AOE 0.5 second revealed (so we can break stealth on a fast cooldown but we can’t stop them re-stealthing almost immediately after).

I really think stealth should be a boon so it can be corrupted or stripped.

Now looking at the glaring 74.9% knowing this would result in 3 month rotations of maps versus providing players the ability to chose the maps they want to play … not even worth it. There was people actively in WvW maps encouraging the votes for simultaneous borderlands … and others on comms saying they already on comms backing there votes for it. And now – end of week … it’s going to fail? When does it close tomorrow?

I voted No.

I way prefer that everyone gets the same map.

There is obviously going to be a favourite map that everyone wants to play on.

Whether the favourite ends up being the old or new BL, there will definitely be a favourite.

So one or two servers are going to get favouritism because they will get less people wanting to play on their BL.

It should be kept fair where every server has the same BL.

Fairness trumps choice IMO.

Glicko making it impossible for CD to move T3

In this initial period volatility has apparently been made more sensitive which is why we get match ups like the current T3 match up.

I think the volatility parameter and “random” parameter are two different elements.

Glicko determine the rankings but the “random” component is then used after the Glicko is determined to add variety to the matchups.

Right now JQ’s Glicko is too stable (not adapting fast enough to such a big thrashing) but the “random” component is what pushed JQ into T3.

A simple solution would be to reset glicko for a week, that way the servers that own will move up to T1, and the servers that struggle will go down to t3/t4. In a couple more weeks it will work itself out and put servers where they belong glicko wise. Please Anet.

I just think Glicko parameters needs to be modified so it adapts faster rather than slower.

I believe there is something called ‘RD’ in Glicko-1 that can be modified to do this and something called volatility in Glicko-2 that can be modified for the same purpose.

With these new linking systems the convergence needs to be faster.

Fighting JQ is nothing but a nightmare. They run nothing but a blob. I don’t think I’ve seen but one individual running solo and no small havocs. They do nothing but PPT. When did PPT become such a big deal?

As for SOS, they are just as bad as JQ and let’s throw MAG in as well. Blob, blob, blob…WvW has stopped being fun when we can’t even defend the things we have because of the blobs.

CD and HOD have both been great partners for SBI, but I’m thinking at this juncture, SBI needs matched up with HOD, CD and all 3 of CD’s matchups to even start to have a fair chance at staying afloat in this sea of crap Anet has force us into.

JQ’s blobbing evolved over time to compete with the BG (they brought the blob strategy to T1 NA).

JQ didn’t always blob. It was something we were forced to adopt to stay competitive in T1. We used to have plenty of small/medium havocs and plenty of roamers.

Additionally, due to our T1 history the majority of us run builds very specific to blob fighting and many of those builds are unsuitable for roaming or small scale fights now.

I avoid all roamers because I know they are running specialised small scale builds that will absolutely wreck my blob build. This is why you won’t see a huge amount of us engaging in small scale.

Having said that, I would argue that in SEA TZ we regularly have many roaming JQ players. We even had complaints on map chat there SoS/SBI didn’t have enough roamers for our roamers to fight – so there are two sides to that one. Maybe you’re playing in the NA TZ?

As for PPT, we actually have a problem on JQ on not focusing on PPT enough, we are usually more interested in getting big fights. This is what happens when I login during SEA prime:

1. We attack SoS keep, they defend, they wipe easily, we take their keep.
2. We attack SBI keep, they defend, they wipe easily, we take their keep.
3. Proceed to paper all their other stuff and they wipe multiple times.
4. SBI and SoS are now mentally scarred from wiping so many times they now run away from our blob (understandable).
4. We now have no one that wants to fight us, so we karma train everything.
5. Opponents say we’re only interested in PvD / PPT / karma train even though they’re the ones running away.

The worst pairing is JQ fighting anyone else in our tier (NSP or HoD). They outnumber us constantly. At first, the fights were fun. Not so much. The week is barely 3 days old and it’s already tedious.

I would love to meet the person at Anet that thought this pairing/matchup was in any way sane.

I think we are trying to steam roll you guys so we can get our glicko higher to avoid the random delta matchup happening again. You guys keep fighting back though, it’s like you want this match up to happen next week

Apart from making 30 bags per hour, I can’t wait to leave tier 3.

I feel sorry for you guys facing us because we not only do we have better numbers but we also run builds suitable for T1 engagements (more toughness).

Get everyone on your servers to equip soldiers armour except for a few glass cannon eles/necros and we’d probably be having some decent zerg fights.

You guys need to use proper blob builds rather than the hybrid roamer/medium group builds many of you are running.

This is of course a generalisation and some of your players are running proper builds.

I think the waypoint should be removed from the game.

It encourages map hopping blobs.

We had a big JQ map hopping blob and any time some SoS/SoR group was about to ninja our T3 hills on another BL we would just waypoint in and wipe them easily.

I felt bad for them that they’d done all that work and they would have taken our hills if that mechanic hadn’t been added to the game.

We’ve invested a lot of time and effort into making SoR hate us and now this!

Calling it a l2p issue is just childish.

It may suit your particular gimmick build but it doesn’t suit most builds.

I’m not dumb enough to waste putrid mark on a 4 second blind in WvW when I know an immobilise is coming soon.

I have to eat that blind (dps drop for me) and vulnerability (dps increase for my enemy) every time I heal.

I have to eat that poison and bleed every time I plague.

It’s a trait that pigeon holes you into a gimmick condi build. L2P indeed.

In the next release, a 6th pip is being added to the provision master ability line that allows you to buy HoT recipes, sigils, and runes from the heroics notary vendor.

Thanks McKenna great stuff.

Can you please ensure that ascended trinkets are craftable or purchasable from this provisioner also so we don’t have to do raids.

Is it time to rekindle the outrage at this terrible trait yet? or have we given up?

Corruption is supposed to be minor negative outcome balanced by a major positive outcome.

33% cool down reduction is not a major positive outcome, it’s average for a trait.

Some of the condis you put on yourself with traited corruption skills can be totally devastating.

Traits should add a bonus, not a negative (even corruption based traits).

If anything when you “master” a corruption skill then you should be able to execute them without any negative outcome.

The trait should be:

“Reduce recharge on corruption skills. Corruption skills no longer inflict conditions on you.”

I have been asking for this for years.

Two things I heard the other night on Team Speak were:

Tomorrow night we aren’t raiding, we need to do PvE so we can get the runes for our builds”.

The next raid was stopped early because “we need to a guild mission so I can get my earring”.

It is sooooo wrong that guilds that want to raid are being forced to stop so they can gear up.

We have been saying for a long time that we shouldn’t need to leave WvW to gear our characters.

We should have ascended armour and weapons, not just trinkets available.

We should have runes and sigils available.

I’m NOT saying it should be cheap/easy, the price in BoH, PoH, gold, laurels or some combination should obviously reflect the effort involved in PvE acquisition.

When any new sigil or rune is created in PvE it should also be added to the WvW merchant.

I am level ~1800 (Gold Solider) and I think I should have a more than one ascended armour set to show for that time. However, I’d rather play the game than go craft junk and do PvE.

I’m in YBBL. I was really hoping to drop to T2 this week. There’s no balance in sight. I won’t partake.

Please fix.

The problem is that tier 1 servers need full coverage – so whoever replaces YB will get owned also.

  • JQ has no NA so we will get owned. We dominate SEA.
  • FA and Mag have barely any SEA and huddle up in the corner when JQ SEA wakes up.
  • DB have mediocre SEA and I have no idea about their NA.

So all the servers have huge coverage gaps and belong in T2.

If JQ gets more (good) NA guilds and can hold NA then JQ should go up.

I’m actually having fun being in T2 so don’t really care if JQ makes it back up a tier.

I imagine BG SEA is getting bored with no one good to fight
